"Superstar baker Melissa Weller (cookbook author and co-founder of Jewish-leaning daytime spot Sadelle’s) is partnering with the 55 Hospitality Group (co-founders Jenn Saesue and Chat Suansilphong) to open an American bakery rooted in classic baked goods but attentive to dietary restrictions. Think vegan chocolate chip cookies; gluten-free scones; and vegan sticky buns without gluten, nuts, and soy." - Nadia Chaudhury
"A new bakery is headed to Lafayette Street in NoHo in the spring, where it will roll out vegan chocolate chip cookies and gluten-free scones — “American-style baked foods for people with dietary restrictions.” The project pairs Sadelle’s co-founder baker Melissa Weller with the Thai team behind Fish Cheeks and Bangkok Supper Club. Weller was last on the scene in NYC at Gertie in Williamsburg, and before that at High Street on Hudson, where she made bagels and baked goods like a cinnamon cardamom roll; she also had stints baking at Per Se and Roberta’s. In November she published her follow-up book to A Good Bake, Very Good Bread. Eater has reached out for more details on the bakery and location." - Melissa McCart
"When you walk into Funny Face Bakery, a small purple storefront shop off the corner of Lafayette and Houston streets, you’re greeted by creative and hilariously decorated sugar cookies ranging from the iconic Kim Kardashian crying face to hand-crafted NYC memorabilia (think a metrocard, a rat holding a slice of pizza). But the most surprising treat is waiting in a display case right under the register: soft-baked cookies of so many flavors; Crumbfetti, oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip just to name a few which are taken right off the oven rack upon ordering. Make no mistake, these creations are not an afterthought of an otherwise looks-focused bakery—they’re unbelievably delicious." - Emily Adler

"This Noho bakery is best known for their elaborately decorated sugar cookies, but their crispy-mallow crunch cookie is what we’ll be coming back for. It’s a sweet, sticky, caramel-y affair. The cookie is large, flat, and flexible—the antithesis of their chocolate chip cookie, which is like a softball of thick, chip-studded dough. If you like extremely thick chocolate chip cookies, you’ll probably like that one, too. And those sugar cookies that look like famous people? Also pretty delicious. " - Carina Finn
