"The community-style setup at Throughgood, a Heights coffee shop, is meant to encourage interaction between customers. “We want them to be comfortable and not feel like they have to get in and get right out," says chef Dawn Sloan, who co-owns Throughgood (plus Bleu Catering and Soul Taco Food Truck) with Rudy Rasmus, a pastor at St. John's United Methodist Church (and Beyonce’s spiritual advisor). A portion of Throughgood's proceeds benefits the Temenos Community Development Corporation, which provides housing to people who were formerly homeless. From basic coffee to organic teas to lattes and cappuccinos, Throughgood has you covered. If you're looking to branch out, try the Good Morning, with espresso, whiskey-vanilla and caramel syrups, and a splash of cold brew, or the espresso Old Fashioned, with a double shot of single origin espresso, Angostura bitters, and whiskey-vanilla syrup, all shaken with orange rind, fresh orange juice, and orange zest—then topped with Topo Chico." - Marcy de Luna
