Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler

"So, can you tell us a little about this place? When in Whistler, you either stay in the hubbub of the village itself or a bit away, where it’s more peaceful and quieter. The Four Seasons, firmly in the second camp, is slightly removed from the action—and proud of it. This is a classic Whistler hotel: sophisticated yet also rooted in the outdoors, with lots of wood and stone, and cozy chairs where you can laze in front of the fireplace. Sounds great. So who are you likely to see milling about the lobby? You’ll see lots of families with kids running around, excited for their day of skiing or hiking. Couples celebrating significant anniversaries or birthdays also come here, particularly in the warmer months. Great. So we've arrived, and we're eager to get up to our room. What's the deal? The legendary Four Seasons service is at play here, meaning check-in is a breeze and served up with a smile. Speaking of—how are the rooms themselves? All of the spacious 273 rooms include gas fireplaces and balconies, and many feature those unforgettable mountain views. Dark woods and neutral tones feel soothing after a long day of outdoor adventuring, and there are plenty of plaid throws to curl up in. Large walk-in closets are perfect for stowing ski gear. And—oh, those beds. Any particular amenities of note? The L’Occitane bath products very well may end up in your suitcase. Food and drink: Should we stick around the hotel grounds, or venture out?Sidecut restaurant serves a knockout steak, but you’ll want to head away from the hotel, to the main village, for a larger range of options. The extensive breakfast buffet is a delight to behold, but it isn’t included with room rates and can be quite expensive ($42 per person). Then again, if you’re already splurging on the Four Seasons, you might as well go all the way. Anything else we should know about? Parting advice before we plan a stay? There’s a lovely spa with a signature Canadian maple syrup–and–brown sugar scrub, as well as a year-round outdoor heated pool. And although the Four Seasons isn’t in Whistler Village, a frequent and efficient shuttle service (as well as a private driver) can whisk you back and forth whenever you desire. It's also within strolling distance of the village’s shops and restaurants." - Liz Humphreys
