Thip Khao’s Owners Reveal Name of New Under-Wraps Restaurant - Eater DC

"Hanumanh (1604 7th Street NW) comes from mother-son duo Seng Luangrath and Bobby Pradachith, who plan to serve a vegetable-heavy lineup of small dishes and Lao-inspired cocktails at the new 40-seat space, reports DCist. Guests can expect salads pounded with a mortar and pestle — a traditional technique in Laos — as well as steamed and raw fish, adds DCist, with some meat and offal offerings in the mix. 'The menu has more rustic, country-style dishes inspired by our childhood,' Pradachith tells the publication. Some items will be cooked over a charcoal grill, with lots of lemongrass and ginger flavors native to his homeland to appearing throughout the menu. Design elements also honor the Southeast Asian country’s culture, and a huge mural of a Hindu monkey god — the meaning behind the restaurant’s name — will be splashed across the space." - Tierney Plumb
