"I've followed the long saga of the Vietina family, owners of the hit Los Angeles Italian restaurant Madeo: their name has shown up in Drake songs and tabloid pages while they pushed pasta to some of the city's wealthiest customers, but since 2018 the restaurant mostly felt like one in exile, moving from place to place without roots. After first closing on Beverly Boulevard so the building could be redeveloped, the reborn Madeo is expected to return this spring at the 1 Hotel on the Sunset Strip with a different feel from the original born 36 years ago — more modern, breezy, and of the moment for the Strip. I was told to expect a white-tablecloth dining area as well as a bar and a patio that overlooks much of the city; there is no firm opening date yet, but representatives say a return is expected this spring. This will be the first time fans can try the Vietina family's food in Los Angeles since September 2020, when Madeo was operating as a pandemic-jostled pop-up in Beverly Hills on a short-term lease, and last summer Eater LA confirmed it would not be returning to the Beverly Boulevard address." - Farley Elliott
