"The Banh Mi and Roll Factory food truck, which started roaming the streets of Nashville in 2015, just opened its first fixed location in Hillsboro Village. Banh Mi and Roll+ is the name of the new restaurant, owned by Karen Tran and Mai Lai. Set in the new Moxy Nashville Vanderbilt building (across from Biscuit Love) at 1808 20th Ave South, Suite 101. Banh Mi and Roll+ seats 40 with an emphasis on sharing traditional Vietnamese street fare with hospitality. The menu offers a variety of Vietnamese favorites including banh mi, fresh rolls, vermicelli noodle bowls, and more. A fresh lotus root salad comes topped with cucumber, fresh herbs, and pickled carrots and radishes, peanut, prawn chips, and fried shallots, then tossed with sweet and sour dressing. The BBQ pork banh mi, on a Vietnamese baguette, is layered with cucumber, pickled carrot, jalapeno, cilantro, green onion, and housemade hollandaise. Banh Mi pho is a Vietnamese baguette with confit of beef kofta, cucumber, fresh herbs, jalapeno, scallion, hoisin + sriracha, served with a side of beef bone broth. The restaurant also offers a new line of powder-free boba teas, handpicked and imported from Japan, Taiwan, and Vietnam. On the boozy side, there’s cocktails, wine, beer on tap, and a full hidden bar. The drink craze encouraged co-owner, Mai Lai to travel throughout Asia and develop a unique recipe featuring fresh, natural, and homemade ingredients. The Boba Teas are 100-percent powder free and prepared fresh daily with the finest loose-leaf tea, natural house-made syrup, and toppings." - Delia Jo Ramsey
