La Rustica

Italian restaurant · Alki

"Many Seattle neighborhoods have a circa-1990s Italian restaurant that functions as a convenient date-night spot for residents who want to stay close to home. Alki neighbors are fortunate that La Rustica is theirs, because it’s a cut above the rest and worth visiting even if you don’t live down the street. The menu here is lengthy, which is charmingly anachronistic, but the wild boar osso bucco with risotto special hits with a modern appeal. You’ll also find just about any variety of pasta you can think of. For dessert, get back in the recent-past time machine and order the turtle brownie if it’s available, and consider whether the ’90s-style presentation is dated or vintage chic. (Doesn’t matter, it’s a decadent treat.)" - Mark DeJoy, Harry Cheadle
