"In January Elon Musk proposed a retro carhop-style restaurant integrated with electric-vehicle charging stalls, drive-in movies, and roller-skating servers, and Tesla has reportedly begun the building-permit process for the site at 1401 Santa Monica Boulevard (corner of 14th Street). The concept aims to give drivers something to do during charging—up to about 75 minutes—using ideas crowd-sourced from Twitter (including a menu that automatically appears when a car is put in park). Observers note the existing dealership parcel appears unusually small to accommodate a large number of chargers plus a restaurant, and while many of Musk’s ideas never materialize, this proposal moved unusually quickly from tweet to permit." - Mona Holmes
