"Located at 300 South Lamar Boulevard, I visited Barile after it replaced Flour & Vine on Friday, May 11; under chef and recent owner Vangjel A. Bylyku the new menu focuses on southern Italian coastal fare, emphasizing seafood such as clams casino, grilled octopus with squid ink tagliatelle, and scallop risotto, alongside flatbread pizzas, pastas, and heartier entrees like chicken breasts, steaks, and pork shanks. Desserts stick to typical Italian offerings—Nutella crepes, tiramisu, and gelato served in an orange brûlée cup—while weekend brunch breaks from the Italian theme with comforting dishes like chicken and waffles, hot brown sandwiches, and steak and eggs. The beverage program includes a long wine list, mezcal pours, bottled/canned/draft beers, and cocktails overseen by bar manager Jacob Hinojosa. Hours are 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Friday–Saturday, with brunch on weekends from 11 a.m.–3 p.m." - Nadia Chaudhury
