"Known for its seriously exacting method for applying a super spicy “cayenne and spice” coating—tumbling the chicken precisely 22 times to ensure even coverage—I learned that Tumble 22, an Austin hot chicken restaurant that began as a food truck in 2017 and grew into multiple permanent locations in the Capitol City, is almost ready to open its first Houston outpost in the first week of December at 10723 Louetta Road in Vintage Park. The spice scale ranges from the mild “wimpy” sauce to the mouth-searing “Cluck’n Hot,” and the spicy chicken is served on sandwiches or as tenders alongside sides like mac and cheese and deviled eggs; desserts are dominated by homemade pies and a short cocktail list will also be offered. When it debuts it will provide dine-in, drive-thru, and curbside pickup service (bringing a new drive-in fried chicken option to the space), will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and is currently staffing up ahead of the opening." - Amy McCarthy
