"Tumble 22, an Austin hot chicken restaurant known for its super spicy sauce, is set to open its first Houston location in December. The restaurant offers fried chicken sandwiches and tenders with varying spice levels, from mild to extremely hot. The menu also includes sides like mac and cheese and deviled eggs, homemade pies for dessert, and a short cocktail list. Operating hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday." - Amy McCarthy

Ambiance: Southern/rustic dine-in eatery with a bar and ample seating, perfect for a quick solo lunch or family dinner. The hostess and waitstaff are super friendly and accommodating. The fries and Mac and cheese were delicious. I like the chicken - I didn't get any "heat" on mine. It seems like maybe there's more flavor if you get a certain heat level, otherwise you really have to depend on the sauce for flavor. That said, I enjoyed my meal and would go back and try out more of their chicken options - like their sandwiches! Parking onsite, clean and fast service. Walking distance to many other shops/restaurants/bars.

My first time at Tumble and it did not disappoint! Our server, a young man from East Texas, was super friendly and easy to talk to! The manager was so polite and checked on us a couple of times to make sure we were happy with the food! He made us feel so welcomed! Everything was delicious! Will definitely be back to this location!

Tumble 22 Vintage Park never misses! I ordered the schezwan fries and chicken bites with a side of collard greens, and everything came out hot and delicious as always 😋 . The fries especially hit the spot I'm obsessed with that wasabi kick. Sooo good!! It was a bit slower than usual this time around, but they were pretty busy, and the staff was still friendly and on point. Not my first visit here and definitely won't be my last. Highly recommend if you're craving bold flavors and some heat!

Google
Their chicken here is so fire! And you absolutely need to try their mac and cheese! Phenomenal! You also gotta try their pies! Forgot to take a picture of it though! Friendly staff! Definitely would recommend to a friend

Was served raw meat. When I took my first bite, I immediately realized the texture was very off but because it was the Korean BBQ chicken I couldn't tell if the chicken was cooked or not until I let it cool off entirely. I then discovered I was served raw chicken. My meal was almost $25. I will never return to this establishment because I am absolutely traumatized. I pray I do not get salmonella. This is horrific. No one should have to worry if their food is cooked thoroughly. Never ever again. Great way to stay the new year... The staff was friendly when I picked up my curbside order and that's the only reason why there is 1 star. Please do better!!

Google
Ordered off the early dine menu! I had the 2 piece tenders. I had them put one spice level “Hot” and the other “Mo’ Hot”. If you come here for HOT chicken, get “Mo’ Hot” because it’s similar to normal “Hot” at other places, whereas the one here isn’t spicy at all. I think even if you have a low spice tolerance, you can take the “Hot”. Tenders here have less crunch but more meat I feel. Fries are decent!

First time here, food was very good. Taste and heat levels are amazing. I thought it was went sauces like all other chicken places but these are dry spices. We tried the “Serrano” hot and it did not disappoint. The Broccoli Salad was amazing and the Mac and cheese was Calvert good!! It took a little bit to get our food but not too bad. Although it would be nice to have an option with chicken that is not breaded, overall it was very tasty, friendly staff; will definitely come back again.

Yelp
Been wanting to try this spot for a while. As you walk in the hosts are super friendly and we were able to get seated right away. There's a full open bar and lots of seating indoors and it looks like there's patio seating available as well. The server asked if it was our first time coming and offered a sampler plate that is complimentary which was awesome and had sides I would have never probably known about had they not put it out which helped actually make my decision easy for what to order. Who would think that a chicken spot had greens and they were GOOD! Has a little spice but they were very well seasoned and still had just that little bit of crunch. The Mac n cheese is creamy and hearty and you can get them "dirty" which looks to be covered with some of their chicken. I ended up with the mo' hot chicken tenders which really was not too hot. This is a great spot for chicken lovers.

Yelp
It had been about a year or two since I tried this place, but I kindly re-introduced my taste buds to it One thing I like about this establishment is that when you order bone-in chicken, it is made to order. It did take about 20 minutes, but I would never complain about fresh made to order chicken so I did not mind waiting . I went here twice and both times after arriving home 10 minutes or so later the chicken was still piping hot. The Mac and cheese is creamy and the greens are decent too. I think they may use turkey to flavor the greens which is great. I really like their chicken!

Yelp
Our visit to Tumble 22 today was the perfect blend of comfort food and top-notch service. The Little O sandwich is my go-to comfort food here--while it may be called "little," it's still the size of a standard chicken sandwich, and in my opinion, the best chicken sandwich in Cypress. Get it from plain to flame. My husband always goes for the chicken fingers with "Dang Hot" seasoning, and let me tell you--it brings the heat! It's just the right level of spice, enough to fog up your glasses but still packed with flavor. We've never had anything short of exceptional service at Tumble 22, and today was no different. Brandon took great care of us--he was fast, attentive, and incredibly helpful. If you're craving amazing fried chicken with fantastic service, this place never disappoints! Tip: if you don't like a lot of ice- ask for light ice- they love their ice here!

Albert T.

Yelp
I love my fried chicken, Tumble22 is a solid place that's been around awhile...but I'm glad to see business is still coming as the place can get packed both inside and patio. I always either get the leg/thigh bone in combo or the boneless thigh combo. The chicken is juicy and the batter is crunchy. The fries are just ok - I wish they were thicker and had more seasoning. I haven't had the bug jumbo tenders yet ... next time!

Lauren N.

Yelp
Food: We ordered during Happy Hour and got the Lil OG and the 2 Piece Jumbo Tender, both of which came with sides. The Lil OG exceeded my expectations--it includes coleslaw, so I didn't need to get extra as a side, but honestly, you can never have too much coleslaw! The 2 Piece Jumbo Tender was crispy and flavorful; I chose the hot honey sauce, which added a great touch. The fries were also crispy, and everything came out hot and fresh. I highly recommend coming during Happy Hour for a quick, satisfying meal. Reasonable prices too. 9/10. Service: Service was solid--friendly and efficient. 9/10.

Yelp
We came in yesterday for dinner and ordered the Dive burger (boneless chicken thigh) and 1/2 mixed bone in Korean style chicken. The Dive burger was pretty tasty, but lacked the spice level we were looking for. We had ordered the dang hot level. The Korean chicken was crispy and flavorful but had too strong of gojuchang flavor for me. Everything was a wait. From getting seated to getting our order (it took at least 15 minutes) since the host was the bartender. I would still come back for the crispy chicken.

Daisy P.

Yelp
Stopped by the vintage park location & Andrew provided wonderful customer service! My family and I really enjoyed this place, definitely going back! What we ordered : - 3 piece tenders & side of broccoli salad 10/10 - Korean style OG chicken sandwich & fries 10/10 - Dirty Fries (added Mac & Cheese on top) 10/10 - side of Mac & cheese - side of Queso We finished everything & had very few left overs this was delicious! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Decent place to get chicken sandwiches and fun sides! Vibes are energetic inside, and a sports game is usually on. Good parking. Food always comes out piping hot and there's a great selection of sides, milkshakes, and desserts. The servers have always been friendly, but after stopping by a few times, I've come to expect slow service. I normally wouldn't be too concerned, but for a restaurant with a drive-thru window it's hard not to assume that things move along a bit quicker. First timers are also apparently offered free side samples, but I was never offered this on my first visit and only recently found this out- not sure if this is newly implemented or if the training is inconsistent on offering this. I like ordering the Southern (dark meat/chicken thigh sandwich), but they also have the OG if you prefer all white meat, and plenty other options in between. Spice level scale is good with 6 levels ranging from nothing at all ("Painless") to "Stupid Hot," which uses Ghost Pepper for heat. The milkshakes are awesome- definitely give the Pecan Pie shake a try. - Ambiance: 4/5 - Food: 4/5 - Service: 3.5/5

Yelp
Great dining experience at this chicken joint. Lots of fried chicken and grilled chicken options. The food came out hot. The crispiness on the fried chicken was great. The divine wasn't overwhelming. Although I would've preferred more heat (I should've chosen the spiciest level). The side dishes were well flavored and a nice pairing with the fried chicken and chicken sandwiches. The sandwiches were a good size too. The server we had was attentive and prompt. The parking lot is small so be aware you might need to park down the street.

Robert C.

Yelp
I think this location is better than the others. Great service and food was perfect. Pies look delicious inside the case.

Angela W.

Yelp
Decided to stop by for an adult beverage. The restaurant was clean, service was quick and friendly. I ordered the original O.G (mo hot) fried chicken sandwich with a side of macaroni and cheese. My drink of choice was a Bloody Mary. Nice place, great vibe and the food is pretty good! Please check your bag for to-go orders to ensure everything you ordered is there. I almost left without the macaroni and cheese.

Jack R.

Yelp
I ordered one chicken breast and a salad at the drive-through and had to park and wait over half an hour. It was not busy and I didn't order a-lot of food. It shouldn't have taken that long.

Thomas H.

Yelp
I started coming here during the pandemic and been back ever since. Food is always consistent and good. There's plenty of seating, and they outside seating as well. There's also a bar as well. They also have drive-thru and curbside if you don't want to dine-in. Menu-wise, plenty of chicken options to choose from (sandwiches, tenders, bone-in chicken, etc). They also for appetizers and desserts. This visit, I did the Orange Chicken OG Sandwich with the mac n cheese. I also did the Blood Orange Frozen Margarita. Their chicken sandwiches are always good, and this one was great. Only issue I had was there was peanuts on the sandwich. I'm guessing it was part of the slaw. I have peanut allergies and that could've been bad. I scraped them off and all was well. There was no information I found that it contained peanuts.

Luis A.

Yelp
Best fried chicken in the area! Awesome spicy chicken sandwich too. Highly recommend chocolate pecan pie to top it off too.

Victoria P.

Yelp
Worst service ever!!! They steal your money! The black guy at the drive through was being sketchy as hell when I told him I wanted my recipe. He told me he would give it to me later when I get my food. And once I got it I noticed he gave himself a $5 tip without me knowing. Can't believe he hasn't gotten in trouble yet for this! They need to do something about this

Frederick Ted W.

Yelp
The food is great, but rarely do they get the food out. Literally don't even go here anymore as right now there's maybe 30% of people with food on their tables. Drive thru is a joke. I've waited over 28 minutes for a simple one person two tenders order. At this point, I go to the one in downtown Houston where I get served great and literally out the door in less than 30 minutes.

Joe H.

Yelp
Solid. Sandwich portions are huge. I had the OG and some dirty fries. Tasted good and added to my lunch rotation. This was all for pickup so I don't know what it's like for dine in. However, if you are feeling hungry for a fried chicken sandwich this place will hit the spot. 4.5

Wesley B.

Yelp
The managing partners are absolutely fantastic customer service people and truly want to be part of the community. Love this place and the OG sandwich with queso is amazing!

Latreca W.

Yelp
This place has decent Chicken Sandwiches. Flavorful and seasonal new sandwiches which is great. Today I got the Lil Hot Chicken and the bottom bread was soggy so the execution was off. Ordered the heavenly eggs as well they are pretty good. Needed sugar but still all the food was edible enough.

Matthew P.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this place out but it's not exactly a skip and hop away from home. Glad I was able to come and try it out. The customer service was excellent here. I really enjoyed how they let us sample the sides and some of the spice levels of chicken. Think about it, if it's your first time at a restaurant and what if you get a side you aren't fond of or the spice level is too much or not enough. You may not enjoy your experience of the food as much and be decline to not come back. With that being said my favorite sides were the Mac and cheese and Broccoli. They both give a good balance when eating something spicy. Mac and cheese was real creamy, it might be cause of them using mascarpone. Fries has were meh it not really fond of them. Glad I didn't do any of the quick pick fries options. It needed some kind of seasoning or maybe different style cut. I got the 1/4 white bone in mo'hot chicken. Which I don't see many places doing bone in. The chicken were a decent size and real crispy. If you let it sit then the crispiness goes away on the bottom. Oh and the bread will go real soggy so best to remove bread out first thing. Overall it was great food, environment and customer service. Let them know it's your first time so they can help you out in your choosings

Mike M.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Tenders as good as anyone's. Service was prompt. Place was packed. Saw friends there who said they come all the time, they bragged about the dirty fries. Pecan pie amazing as well. Will be back

Michelle R.

Yelp
This is our 2nd time here. The patio is really nice. I think your dog can come cause I saw a dog bowl. I'm going to bring my dog next time. I had an Arnold Palmer. It was so tasty. The chicken is fresh and sides are yummy. The service is great both times. We will be back when we want some fried chicken.

Yelp
Tumble 22 has landed in Houston and I couldn't be happier! During the pandemic, I paid a lot of visits to Austin, TX and fell in love with Tumble 22 soon after my first bite! When I found out the first location in Houston would be just 15 minutes from me, I was ecstatic!!! This location in Vintage Park has friendly staff, squeaky clean facilities, and impeccable and consistent food quality. They recently did updates to their app, so reward credit is now earned based on the card you use. Whether you order dine in or takeout, you'll still earn credit! This is a game changer for regulars like myself! I also look forward to the new exclusive sandwiches every month. The Texas OG has been my absolute favorite so far and needs to become a part of their regular menu!! The customization options, monthly exclusives, and consistent new menu items is enough to keep me coming back, but the friendly staff, manager that treats his customers like family, and exceptional food quality makes it really hard to choose to eat anywhere else. If you're debating on eating here, just do it! You won't regret it. Just note that the spice levels run a bit hotter than you'd think they do. Whatever you think you can tolerate, I'd recommend jumping down a level, for your first time at least. I also HIGHLY recommend getting the mac & cheese. It is, by far, the best I've ever had!! Thank you Tumble 22 for doing it right!

Crystal L.

Yelp
This was our second time at this establishment and we were not impressed with the service the other server provided last time. We were in the area and decided to give it another try as I wanted Tumble 22 again. I am so glad we stopped in, Janelle made our experience so much better this time. She was very attentive & provided great customer service without us even asking for refills or anything she would bring them out by just noticing! She redeemed my hope in returning to this location again in the near future! Kudos to Janelle for an excellent job!!

Julie B.

Yelp
Was craving fried chicken. Did a look up and found this place. The waitress said new people to the restaurant get free sides to try. That didn't happen. Food was good. Got my fried chicken fix.

Tracey L.

Yelp
I first visited the Tumble 22 in April when I was coming here to pick up my keys for my place. The waiter gave me the background of this restaurant and the area; he explained the different heat levels the chicken comes in. There are six levels of heat, from Wimpy Hot to Stupid Hot. Now the chicken, I like that the spices go straight through the crispy skin to the meat. I will post the picture showing the spices on the meat that brings the heat. The skin is so good I could have eaten that alone. I added the Dirty Fries smothered in Queso with big chunks of chicken, a new dish for me, and I have tried to make it at home, but no such luck. I think I need the chicken recipe. I enjoyed my food for sure, but I loved how pretty this place is with the old wooden window frames. It gives a quiet chic barn feel with the reds and beige and Rooster on the wall standing tall, along with the many other pictures.

Mark F.

Yelp
First time visit Plenty of tables on a Tuesday at 6:15 pm Trying Georgia Peach Sandwich - painless With Fries and a Diet Coke with Lemon Very friendly and helpful server - Jack

Daniela D.

Yelp
So after giving Tumble 22 a second try, I have to say it is all about what you order. I had something different for dinner tonight so I just ordered The Big Larry to drink. A very strong Blood Orange margarita with a Grand Mariner floater, that is. It was delicious. Rob ordered The OG chicken sandwich, no bread, coleslaw or pickles on a bed of lettuce and a side of fries with honey mustard. The chicken breast was lightyears better than the fried chicken thigh and I will recommend that to anyone. We're glad we gave them a second chance. Also, we received extremely great service from everyone; the server and managers striking up a conversation.

Azarria A.

Yelp
Pretty good chicken! Macaroni is good fries are really good too. Pleasantly surprised by this place. Will be back!

Jean Z.

Yelp
I love coming and getting the Tupelo Hot honey. Another delicious option would be the Cobb salad. Their pies are good as well and the pecan milkshake is to die for. The service is very good and the decor is very cute.

John T.

Yelp
3rd time in 3 weeks Great Service "Brandon" was awesome Food is so so good Had Cobb salad w nuggets Darn hot twice an tonight 3 boneless thighs with a side of collard greens Plus he let me sample all the sides All are delicious Price well in line I'll be back next week You can't go wrong here

W W.

Yelp
Food - Chicken meat: Average. 3 Stars Food - Korean BBQ style: Average. 3 stars Food - BBQ beans: Too soupy. 3 stars Service: Friendly and warm. 5 stars Ambiance: Great atmosphere. Lots of patrons. 5 stars. Overall: 4 stars

Glenn K.

Yelp
I highly recommend the two piece mo' hot dinner with two homemade sides. The first time I missed out on the broccoli salad.

Van N.

Yelp
Finally my favorite Austin Fried chicken joint is here!!! I literally could not wait. We were there right when they opened on grand opening day. The staff did not disappoint. They already had happy hour going! I got the 'mini' chicken sandwhich and mac n cheese. My husband got their version of chicken nuggets. It was just how I remembered. I usually like it hot and it was just right. We will definitely be back!

Amy B.

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Our drive through of 1 sandwich & fries took 21 minutes and to be brought out. No apologoes or explanation. Definitely not worth the $16. This is not the first time we have had to wait for an order, but definitely never this long.

Tyler B.

Yelp
Was pretty disappointed. Went thru the drive thru, was the only person but waited a good 15-20 minutes for my food as they make your food to order yet don't inform you of the wait. After finally getting my food I did not get what I ordered. Either their hot chicken is the most bland not hot chicken in the world, or they gave me plain tenders. This meat had no flavor or sauce and I specifically ordered "hot".

Ariel D.

Yelp
I tried Tumble 22 in Austin a few years ago and, as someone who constantly seeks the spiciest eating experience, I was so disappointed that it was literally forgettable. It was fine, I guess, but it seemed like they gave me the wrong spice level or just hadn't really figured it all out, you know? My husband had to remind me we'd been before. After visiting this location today I've had a change of heart. The Stupid Hot tenders hit the spot for a mighty spice craving without hitting that pitfall that so many places resort to of using extract. The beans were a little one dimensional in flavor - nothing a dash of pepper couldn't help, some pepper sauce really would've set it off. The comeback sauce has horseradish in it, which honestly doesn't taste bad but it's super unexpected. I associate horseradish with roast beef and it gets a little weird in the mouth when you have capsaicin spice mixed with isothiocyanate spice. Service was friendly, despite it being a little busy for non rush hours with the crew being a bit stretched. Food came out quickly exactly as I ordered it and tasted fresh. Bathroom was clean, spacious, and well stocked. Overall, a much better experience than the first time!

April P.

Yelp
Have been 4X now and every time has been consistently great! Even once for takeout and all was perfect (some places are not this way). Service, serving time, food quality...this is a new family favorite. The prices are reasonable for the quality and not overpriced. I haven't had one thing I didn't love!

Eduardo T.

Yelp
Passed by this location on a daily basis and was very interested in trying it out. I went for dinner and the atmosphere was very nice. The inside of the place was very unique with its own style. From the start the host was very welcoming as well as are waitress. I ordered the dive burger double pattie. The Pattie's were pretty big and the temperature on the burger was on point. I didn't realize you add on anything xtra that you may want like cheese bacon etc. my fault though. The dirty fries and Mac n cheese were a must try, they were great the fries were very filling and the Mac and cheese were ok nothing about them stood out but also no complains. The chicken bites were delicious. I was interested in there desserts but was to full but I definitely will be back to try more items. I strongly recommend!!!!

Alvaro N.

Yelp
Okay so the service was lacking it was a little slow today not place isn't packed yet 3:30pm but the food surely made up for it! Today I had a 60/40 one of my fav beer and blood orange margarita.... This place is one of my favorites to get a fire chicken sandwich or even some friend chicken.... The Mac and cheese was as always delicious, creamy and nice and soft and extra cheesy I ordered a new sandwich today the "Caprese O.G." And it surely did not disappoint, happy hour starts at 4 so it's starting to liven up in here.... My sandwich had sourdough bread a huge slice of mozzarella, basil, balsamic glaze, and dukes mayo, some tomatoes and some pickles it was really good first time and probably will be my choice for next time... unless they have another new sandwich btw I always switch the breast meat for a good ol thigh ...

Jazmin T.

Yelp
Came here the other day for brunch with my mom and sat outside! I love their patio because it's covered and they have a tv outside for any game that might be on! Ernesto was our server and he was really great guiding me through the menu and what was good! I got the lil chicken sandwich, which was 4oz and topped with coleslaw and pickles and I think had a sauce on it, and needless td say, it was amazing! They have different heat levels, I just got the hot. I also got a side of fries and Ernesto suggested one of their specialties that comes so with pulled fried chicken and queso that the fries are topped and smothered in, and those were delicous also! This place is great for casual dining in, or getting your food to go. They have a drive through and they've got a happy hour too with great drink specials!

Tin V.

Yelp
The food is always great here. Bone in fried chicken is my go-to every time! However, the drive thru service is incredibly slow. Consistently waiting 25-30 minutes for my order. It has definitely stopped me from coming as often.

Sandy L.

Yelp
Got the OG sandwich to go and 2 sides, beans and broccoli salad. Took a while which is fine since it's made to order but I've been here several times and this time was not good. My sandwich didn't taste fresh and no pickles. That's my favorite part. Also my beans look like refried beans and didn't taste good at all. Like they had been sitting all day. Not sure I will come back as it's gotten pretty pricey as well. When it's fresh this place is amazing but tonight was a big miss.

Ana I.

Yelp
Fantastic service, great food, we ordered 2 chicken sandwiches, coleslaw and fries and everything was delicious. For dessert a salted caramel shake that was so good. Would highly recommend this place!

Auston P.

Yelp
It's worth stopping in! Don't let the outside drive thru fool you!! Food: I had the lil OG with dang hot spice. The sandwich was amazing. Awesome crips and a decent level of spice, but not so spicy it lingers. My beautiful lady had the Cobb salad and man what a presentation. Not only that, but the flavor of it was amazing. Could never go wrong with the salad here hands down! Also they let us try the Dirty Mac n cheese on the house, holy moly. Stuff is fire!! Service: Kris was outstanding and informative. Not only that, but the actually chef delivered our appetizers and meal and check on us. If you like salty drinks and margaritas, try the Dirty Harry! Margarita with olive juice!! I know it sounds weird, but it's actually really good.l! Ambiance: The outside does this place no justice. It's family friendly with booths and tables, as well as a canvas covered patio. There is a small bar with a tv! Wouldn't expect it with a drive through attached. Sorry I didn't get pictures, it was that good

Megan G.

Yelp
This chicken was super filling! Juicy on the inside and crisp on the outside. Not too spicy, but enough flavor to taste the different spices for each flavor. The fact that they have a "dirty Mac" defeats any competing hot chicken places, it's amazing. The service was truly top tier, our server was friendly and warm, he was also very attentive which is always a plus. We sat outside, and it was a great atmosphere. There's a tv, fans, and even plastic blinds in case it's too cold, too windy, or too rainy.

Arsenia J.

Yelp
The food is excellent we enjoyed it. The team was great and made sure we got a sample of the chicken before we ordered. The Pecan pie was to die for. We will be going back soon.

Gordon S.

Yelp
First off, I only had the Chicken Bites, The Southern Sandwich, & the Szechuan Fries ... But I can't wait to go back and try more of their food.. I ordered thru the drive thru.. Food came out correct, hot, and packaged nicely. It was in cardboard boxes.. Sorta like a big Chinese food to go box... The Chicken Bites were delicious and big. The comeback sauce I got with them is fantastic... Spot on for chicken... The Southern Sandwich was the same ... delicious and big... It's a chicken thigh instead of a breast with pickles and Dukes mayo The Szechuan Fries were free since I signed up on the app... They were good ... but different... I still ate em all... The only things I'll do differently next time is the heat level... I did the "Hot" on both the Bites and Sandwich Next times I'll up it a level to the "Mo' Hot" until I zero in on the level I like... Again Can't wait to go back
