"Opened in its first week as a lunch-only outpost from the Di Fara Pizza family, this small takeout counter at 1012 E. 15th Street (near Avenue J, down the street from the original Midwood pizzeria) offers affordable Italian heroes stacked with sliced eggplant, chicken cutlet, meatballs, and melted cheese, priced $8–$11. Called 1012 Kitchen and run by Maggie DeMarco‑Mieles—the daughter of Di Fara founder Domenico “Dom” DeMarco—the shop uses her dad’s sandwich recipes, has a single table out front for seating, and intends to add spaghetti, lasagna, and other red-sauce dishes to the menu in the future. Opening hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Saturday." - Luke Fortney
