"I noticed the San Diego–based Dark Horse Coffee Roasters has opened its seventh location at San Diego International Airport’s Terminal 1 East near the Southwest Airlines concourses, operating daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. in partnership with airport concessionaire Mission Yogurt, Inc. (which also runs the adjacent Einstein Bagels). They serve coffee and espresso drinks made with small-batch roasted, direct-trade beans, including their specialty Champ—espresso with milk, honey, and cinnamon—alongside breakfast items, sandwiches, pastries (including vegan doughnuts from their Skinny Donuts line), and beer, wine, and canned cocktails. The kiosk joins other airport tenants like Bankers Hill Bar & Restaurant, Phil’s BBQ, and Stone Brewing Company and incoming concepts such as Kettner Exchange, Puesto, and Cutwater Spirits. Co-founder Bryan Charlson says the 10-year-old company will soon move its headquarters and roastery to a larger Mission Gorge/Grantville space that will house a full bakery, cupping lab, and new cafe aimed to open by early 2024." - Candice Woo
