"I somehow always end up craving Tacos y Birria La Única, a birria specialist that’s one of my comfort spots along a main Venice Boulevard artery. Handmade tortillas and both shredded goat (birria de chivo) and shredded beef (birria de res), lovingly prepared by the staff, keep me coming back, but I can’t resist the quesatacos dorados — tortillas dipped in hot oil until perfectly crunchy, filled with a balanced amount of cheese and saucy birria, and flanked by a cup of consomé. The broth is wonderful to sip on its own and even better for glorious taco dipping, adding more flavor to the already savory bites. Owner Yasmany Mendoza operates the family-run business out of Boyle Heights, while the Mid-City truck — with a temporary seating area on Venice near Fairfax — serves until 6 p.m." - Eater Staff
