"Set to open in April on Adams Avenue in Kensington, I learned that Tanuki — named for the mischievous Japanese raccoon dog of Japanese folklore — will operate as a coffee bar by day and a sake bar and eatery by night. Chef/owner Yutaka Ishii, formerly a chef at Nobu San Diego in the Gaslamp’s Hard Rock Hotel, plans a daytime menu of coffee and matcha tea and an evening menu that will include a variety of sushi options, Wagyu beef dishes, and a selection of more than 100 types of sake. The Adams Avenue space includes a small wrap-around patio and dedicated parking spaces and has been empty since it was vacated by wine bar Kensington Vine." - Candice Woo
