"At Kinfolk Southern Kitchen, the new Wharf barbecue spot from Eaternity Hospitality Group, I found a menu devoted to soulful American comfort food rather than fussiness: tempura okra, fried blue catfish, napkin-required pork ribs (available full or half racks), and barbecue meats like jalapeño-cheddar sausage, smoked turkey breast, and brisket all cooked in an enormous wood-fired oven you can’t miss on entry; the restaurant also runs two massive smokers. There’s a halal barbecue thread too — a 100-year-old smoked tandoori chicken recipe that ties into family food traditions — alongside crowd-pleasers such as a smash burger with pimento cheese and a playful Farmhouse Spaghetti with smoked bacon and a fried or poached egg. Bourbon plays a big role on the drink menu, from barrel-aged cocktails that serve two to six guests to classics like a Stateline Sazerac and a Southern Charm Old Fashioned. The restaurant opens for dinner daily starting at 4 p.m. and represents the Wharf’s first true barbecue option." - Lulu Chang
