"Located in midtown's CBS Black Rock building (the former China Grill), Nusr-Et opened in New York on January 18 as the chef Nusret Gökçe—aka Salt Bae—continues expanding his restaurant group; it's his second U.S. location and 13th overall and is described on the restaurant's website as a “meatlovers” favorite address. The space seats about 150 inside with room for an additional 80 outside once the weather warms, and the kitchen serves steaks like rib eye and a thin fillet called lokum, racks of lamb and veal cooked over charcoal, kofta stuffed with kasseri cheese, and steak tartare, along with salads, seafood, Turkish coffee and tea, and baklava. Salt Bae's internet fame stems from his dramatic over-the-elbow salting technique, and he says he has helped make butchering a sought-after job in Turkey." - Chris Crowley
