"A modest corner bodega tucked across from the park on busy Fifth Avenue, this deli specializes in painstakingly built sandwiches taught to its staff by the late Kevin Lee. The standout is the Italian Combo: ultra-thin-shaved Boar’s Head cappy-style ham, salami, provolone and a final layer of hot capicola, layered with roasted red peppers, thin tomato slices, shredded iceberg lettuce, a careful drizzle of oil and vinegar and just enough mayo; the sandwich deliberately leans heavy on meat and sits on crusty J.J. Cassone bread. Co-owner Edwin Onofre and his brothers focus obsessively on making each sandwich the same way, and a framed photo of Lee above the case signals their intent to keep his methods and spirit alive. Though beloved by regulars, only a portion of customers from the old shop have found this new location, so much of their clientele is still rebuilding." - Chris Crowley, Hugo Yu
