"When a New York restaurant has been open since 1972, it’s bound to have at least one celebrity regular. For Cozy Soup ‘N’ Burger in Noho, that person is Adam Sandler, whose mom used to live in the building above this diner, and who returns every so often with his daughters. (His table is just inside the entrance to the right.) In the rest of the blue and brown leather booths, you’ll find NYU students sharing omelets before pulling all-nighters, and groups of women drinking cappuccinos while gawking at a mountainous slice of banana cream pie. The only soundtrack is the landline phone, which rings constantly with takeout orders. And because we know you’re wondering, we’ll cut to the chase: the burger is totally fine, the reuben is better, and the split pea soup is excellent. photo credit: Kate Previte Food Rundown photo credit: Willa Moore Split Pea Soup Soup is in the name, and this soup is excellent: thick and hot, with plenty of croutons. Get a bowl. We made the mistake of getting a cup. photo credit: Willa Moore Burger Also in the name, but less excellent. It's not bad at all, just lackluster. Go for the reuben. photo credit: Willa Moore Reuben Your server will ask you if you’d like your reuben with corned beef or pastrami. You will ask him what he recommends, and he is going to say both. Do as he says. Get both." - Willa Moore
