Dell’anima, nestled in Hell’s Kitchen’s Gotham Market West, offers an upscale yet casual Italian experience, showcasing fresh pastas created right before your eyes at the chef's counter.
"For affordable Italian on Manhattan’s far west side: An ambitious sub-$20 pasta in New York is a rarity, akin to a gourmet burger and fries for $18. This is why Hell’s Kitchen is lucky to have Dell’anima, which makes its new, smaller home at a chef’s counter at Gotham West Food Hall. As projectors show the nightly game on nearby walls, chef Andrew Whitney whips up some serious a la minute noodles. Consider his orecchiette; the little ears sop up the meaty juices of braised lamb ragu and fresh shavings of horseradish ($17). Then follow up with his stellar carbonara ($19). A tangle of golden tajarin comes showered in tart pecorino, salty speck, and an aggressively warming dose of black pepper. And of course, an entire egg yolk sits on top to amp up all the richness even further." - Eater Staff
"Dell’anima, a beloved Italian restaurant from West Village, has been reborn in Gotham West Market." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
"West Village neighborhood restaurant Dell’anima officially has a new home — in a food hall. The wine and pasta destination shuttered in December after a decade in the neighborhood, though with plans to relocate uptown to Hell’s Kitchen’s Gotham Market West. Now, chef-owner Andrew Whitney and partners Danir Rincon and Jacob Cohen have revived the restaurant at a 22-seat counter surrounded by fellow tenants like Ivan Ramen and Jianbing. The spirit of the food and wine menus remains the same, with some of the same dishes like tagliatelle bolognese and pollo al diavolo migrating over to Gotham Market West. New options include bone marrow with head cheese and pickled red onion and branzino in cartoccio, and there’s also now breakfast and lunch, with a pollo diavolo panini and eggs in purgatory. Wine continues to focus on Italy." - Stefanie Tuder
"Dell'anima moved uptown to a new location in the Gotham Market West food hall." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
"Dell’anima, a beloved Italian restaurant in the West Village, is relocating to Gotham Market West in Hell’s Kitchen. The new location will be a counter in the food hall, offering the same pasta and wine as before. Despite the change, the kitchen will be larger, allowing for lunch service. The move addresses the challenges of maintaining an old building and offers a profit-sharing rent model." - Stefanie Tuder
