"Going out for Korean barbecue usually means choosing between quality meats and an unlimited AYCE experience. At Gangnam in South Austin, you get the bottomless experience without compromising on taste, all in a massive industrial space that feels a lot less sterile than it sounds. There are three different price tiers that all come with unlimited meats, sides, noodles, ramen, and more. Classics like bulgogi, marinated pork belly, and kalbi are some of the best versions we’ve had in town—particularly compared to other bottomless spots—but it’s the premium meats you’ll want to load up on if you opt for one of the pricier plans. Order the ribeye and watch as full-sized steaks arrive for as long as you keep asking (and finishing your plate), then throw on some beef rib fingers and teriyaki chicken between bites of salad, corn cheese, and an extensive selection of banchan. photo credit: Richard Casteel photo credit: Richard Casteel photo credit: Richard Casteel Food Rundown photo credit: Richard Casteel The Meats These are some of the higher-quality meats we’ve come across at Korean BBQ options in Austin, and the portions are not stingy. A few of our favorites include spicy marinated pork belly, beef short ribs, and ribeye steak. Show up with a few friends so that you can work your way through more of the menu. photo credit: Richard Casteel Banchan Every meal comes with about half a dozen banchan options, which is more than most other AYCE options in town. And they’re tasty enough that you’ll probably ask for a few refills over the course of the meal. photo credit: Richard Casteel Appetizers Your dinner (or lunch) ticket includes access to about a dozen different dishes and apps—including dishes like japchae, steamed egg custard, fried mandu, and corn cheese—and you can refill them as often as you’d like. Grab some salad and corn cheese to kick off the meal, but save room for the meats. That’s what you’re paying a premium for, after all." - Nicolai McCrary
