"If you ever wondered, “What does the lovechild of an al pastor taco and tavern-style pizza taste like?”—well, stop asking questions like that to strangers and just swing by this Albany Park pizzeria. The al pastor pie is Bellona’s signature, and it’s excellent. The crispy thin crust and tart tomato sauce nicely complement the seasoned pork, pineapple, and jalapeños. They also have more classic toppings for their tavern-style pies and less-exciting stuffed pizzas. Bellona’s is delivery or take-out only, but we can confirm it tastes great in the back of an old sedan and during endless rounds of Catan. photo credit: John Ringor Food Rundown photo credit: John Ringor Al Pastor Tavern-Style Pizza Don’t even bother looking at the menu, just order this all-star team effort from all of the ingredients. The smoky pieces of pork, pineapple, jalapeños, and tangy tomato sauce will make it hard for you to stop snacking on their crispy square slices. photo credit: John Ringor Stuffed Pizza The stuffed pizza has a good balance of sauce and cheese, but it’s definitely not the start of a deep dish revolution. If you do go for the thicker Chicago pizza representative instead of tavern-style, we recommend getting it well-done so the bottom of the crust doesn’t get soggy." - John Ringor
