Ánimo - Review - Midtown East - New York - The Infatuation

"Ánimo is a bright, adorable Mexican café doing breakfast and lunch in Midtown East. The concept is a no-brainer, and the execution is spot-on. For an overachieving daytime meal, order some huevos rancheros at the counter, find a pistachio-colored nook to sit in, then enjoy some perfectly wobbly eggs topped with tangy, ultra-thick salsas. All of the food—like a simple quesadilla and enchiladas with squiggles of crema—is fresh, straightforward, and greater than the sum of its housemade parts. Just keep in mind, the place closes at 4pm daily. If you need some Ánimo in the off-hours, grab a concha or two to take home. photo credit: Alex Staniloff photo credit: Alex Staniloff photo credit: Alex Staniloff" - Bryan Kim
