"Perched on a hilltop about 40 minutes from central Auckland on Waiheke Island (ferries run regularly), I loved waking to amazing sea views and the sound of water lapping and seagulls chirping; amenities include a large kitchen, outdoor BBQ and dining area with lovely views, a comfortable common room with board games and a book exchange, and an entire island to explore—dorm beds are cheap metal bunks without thick mattresses or curtains so they're not super comfy, but the price, amenities and location more than make up for it." - Matthew Kepnes
