"Established in 1940 under the name "Jake's", this charming art supply store has seen a lot of change in the neighborhood but has managed to remain a fixture on this popular little stretch of Dekalb. The shop was once a go-to of Patti Smith's in the 60's, as mentioned in her memoir, and you can almost imagine that time and place when exploring the dated interior. Even though it feels a bit rundown inside, it only adds to the charm—the shop's inventory is modern and well-stocked, catering to and reflecting the eclectic nature of the studies of the Pratt students who most frequent it today." - Makewell
