Tony went to this small eatery with 2 chefs, Andrew Le and Mark “Gooch” Noguchi. They ate miso soup, pigs feet soup, tripe, taco rice (taco toppings and an over-easy egg on top of rice, which is an Okinawan specialty).
A sacred place in the community on Moloka'i, which is known as "The Friendly Place," but has a reputation for being unwelcoming to outsiders on other islands. They had slow roasted pig, grilled kala fish, mullet cooked lavalu style, octopus, poi, and freshwater clams from the mountains.
Tony met with a Hawaiian journalist, Daniel Ikaikaito. They had a plate lunch, a Hawaiian specialty of a protein with white rice and potato-mac salad. They ate theirs with chicken katsu, hamburger steak in “sinister” gravy, seared ahi with nori and sesame seed.
