"A simple but grand statement of Kaunas Modernism, the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art was designed in 1930 by Vladimiras Dubeneckis, Kārlis Reisons, and Kazimieras Kriščiukaitis; its striking crown-shaped front entrance is a deliberate nod to the artist M. K. Čiurlionis, whose work — a primary focus of the collection — often incorporated crown motifs. To mark Kaunas's Capital of Culture year the museum is hosting a special exhibition, That Which We Do Not Remember by William Kentridge (on view through November 30), linking contemporary work to the city's heritage." - Stephanie Vermillion Stephanie Vermillion Stephanie Vermillion is a travel journalist and photographer covering culture and adventure for Travel + Leisure Outside, and more.
