The 32 Best Hotels in London

"This nine-story hotel is a sustainable sanctuary slotting naturally among London’s oldest hospitality icons just across the road from The Ritz and The Wolseley. Inside, you are greeted by a giant suspended plant chandelier, a reception desk hewn from the trunk of a giant oak tree in a Sussex forest and a wall of Yorkshire stone, tactfully slotted together with no additional materials by a father and son carpentry stonemason duo. It’s an unexpectedly soothing space amid London’s busiest shopping district; inside, the noise of Piccadilly fades away, absorbed by thousands of plants (1,300 to be exact—including 200 local and regional species) and raw materials sprinkled throughout the hotel. The reception’s tranquil aesthetic extends into each of the 181 bedrooms. Sandy hues and creamy tones come in the form of linen-covered cushions, soft furnishings and oak flooring, and each room has a living moss wall, further emphasizing the hotel’s dedication to bringing the outdoors inside. Downstairs the hotel also has is a cafe and co-working space by day which transforms into a wine bar by night, as well as an elegant, low-lit cocktail bar area leading on to London’s most talked-about new restaurant, Dovetale. Price: Rooms from around $577 per nightAddress: 3 Berkeley St, London W1J 8DLClosest tube station: Green Park" - Condé Nast Traveller, Steve King

Dovetale

"Like the hotel in which it sits – 1 Hotel Mayfair – Dovetale makes good use of natural materials and plenty of plants to create a warm, bright environment. It also has a great terrace and a welcoming atmosphere. The menu looks to Europe for its contemporary dishes; go for one to be shared, like the Oxfordshire fallow venison or the Somerset chicken. If you’re after a bit of nostalgia, you can design your own Knickerbocker Glory for dessert." - Michelin Inspector

We had an unforgettable stay at 1 Hotel Mayfair last year when we attended Stevie Nicks' performance at Hyde Park. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warm and friendly doormen who made us feel so welcome. They were not only professional but went above and beyond with their friendly chats and helpful service. The entire staff was exceptional, but we'd like to give a special mention to the lovely lady who checked us in. Her warm welcome set the tone for what turned out to be an incredible experience. The room itself was modern, immaculately clean, and perfectly equipped. Every detail was thoughtfully taken care of, ensuring our comfort and enjoyment during our stay. Thank you so much to everyone at 1 Hotel Mayfair for making our trip truly special. We can’t wait to return!

This property is a 5 star. Clean, warm, welcoming and inviting. Staff is top notch. Everyone cares to make you happy and know you by name. The moment you enter the hotel, you have a smile and service. The bar is perfect, the restaurants are amazing. I cannot say enough about this hotel and the brand. Perfect location in Mayfair. Shopping, restaurants galore. I loved the urban feel. Loved the decor and fresh water in your room when you need it 24/7. Comfortable beds. If you forget something, you call to the operator, before you hang up the phone, there is a knock at your door!

I enjoyed this hotel- it has a boutique feel to it in its size and design. I loved the Scandi, eco feel of the decor. The room was small but comfortable and quite gorgeous. I appreciated the in room water tap and loving area. Very happy they had oysters at the restaurant. Few issues in that both our bar bookings were missing and we booked a suite but ended up in a single due to an error. Service at the restaurant a little slow but consistently friendly. It's a great location and a relaxed place for a London stay. The breakfast menu is one of the best I've encountered and I stay at a lot of hotels... I want to go back just to eat there in the morning!

I love everything about this hotel, it is a breath of fresh air. Perfectly located in Mayfair, it had Christmas all around. This is an unbeatable location for top of the range Christmas shopping.||||They have a new heated outdoor dining area, which is beautiful, just to the left of the main restaurant as you walk in from the bar… well it was cold outside all the outdoor tables were occupied which really does say something.||||I particularly enjoy the bar, great for people watching and even if you are not resident this is a top place to drop in for a mid shopping pit-stop.||||This is a brilliantly managed hotel and although I like everything about one hotels, this has to be my favourite. If you are wondering where to stay in London, this has to be a great choice.||||Dogs are very welcome…the hotel’s message is:- ‘Dogs are family too. We would never ask you to leave your furry (or not furry) friend behind! Your pup is always welcome at 1 Hotel Mayfair.’ and …||‘Our four-legged guests are welcome in all venues until 5pm, which includes Dovetale, Dover Yard and additionally benefit from all day access in Neighbours Cafe, located in the hotel lobby.’||||And…’A (human) guest must be present with their pet while any member of the hotel team is in their room. Pets must be with a designated individual at all times and not left unattended. We don't want lonely pets!’||||Absolutely: a great hotel for our much loved dogs.

A great stay. Room was a really good size, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Location is fantastic. ||||Bar area is very cool and drinks were excellent. Breakfast was great. Only downfall overall was the promptness of service at times in both restaurant and bar.

Location great. I didn’t eat food so can’t speak to that. Room was good, could have been more upgrades ie Dyson hair dryer, and nicer robes. Pretty room not spotless clean. Staff friendly but didn’t over extend to create a memorable experience.

The worst £400 a night hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Trying to relax and all you hear are doors SLAMMING ALL NIGHT!! It doesn’t matter how luxurious a hotel is, if you can’t sleep and rest, there’s no point. Please have doors that close quietly. The Reception also said my girlfriend would get a surprise as it was her birthday, but nothing arrived, so I guess they forgot. Not overly bothered on this, as I never requested it. But please don’t make promises you don’t keep. Air-con also didn’t work. The room was too hot. On the plus side, the rooms are lovely. It’s a shame we couldn’t enjoy them in peace.
