Festive Christmas Bars Are Popping Up in Philly - Eater Philly

"Farmer’s Keep is turning its rooftop into a weekend holiday bar called 12 Days of Christmas. There are heaters to keep things cozy, plus a big Christmas tree and drinks like the coquito, a creamy, coconut-y drink with cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and rum." - Rachel Vigoda

Yelp
Relaxed atmosphere Cool ambiance. Good music. Great food. Chicken Katsu Curry Don is amazing! All of the food is well thought out and delicious. You can also just have a drink and watch the game of your choosing. Service is friendly and knowledgeable. Casual elevated cuisine.

Yelp
Met some friends here while in Philadelphia, it was an easy walk from Amtrak and had a very nice rooftop situation. There's not like a crazy view or anything (although we did view some crazy down below!), but it was nice to be outside in downtown for drinks and early dinner. Cocktails were really good- we had a mezcal based one that was killer. I would describe the food as an upgraded American bar menu. That's a good thing to me! Plenty of options and easy, comfort food that can be shared if you'd like. I get a burger that was worth it! My friends had the mac and cheese and the Mediterranean plate, they enjoyed it. Service was attentive and prompt. Our server was really nice. Def recommend.

Yelp
An amazing spot/ sport bar/ happy hour place with delectable food! The menu is not your usual bar food, but a much elevated affair. We tried a lot of shareables, and the lamb chops are to die for! They have massive TVs and a really great outdoor patio . Service is prompt and food is flavorful. What else does one need!

Yelp
The Topside Tavern serves brunch every Saturday and Sunday 10am to 3pm. They also have a jazz trio at noon. Gerson was very friendly and helpful. We tried the Good Morning Good Night breakfast pizza and the Ranchero Skillet. Both were delicious. There are so many great options on the menu that it was hard to decide. We had the Ridiculous Bread Pudding for dessert. Their regular menu also had tons of great options. They have a full bar and also serve Coke products. Great atmosphere and service. Definitely recommend and will return.

Yelp
Newer lively spot with a nice open atmosphere and lots of TVs to watch sports on. They also have a rooftop patio section. Drink menu has a decent amount of selections and cocktails are fairly priced. Food menu is a bit varied as well. Had Mediterranean platter and Bao bun appetizers. Both good quality and uniquely tasty. Bao bun had very tender beef with good seasoning. Pleasant spot to have a drink, staff friendly and welcoming. Will have to check them out for a happy hour as well. Thanks

Yelp
I have one thing to say... if you order nothing else order the curry duck bao bun. I promise you, you won't be able to eat just one. Was visiting Philly and stumbled onto this place as I was heading to my hotel. I was intrigued by the early happy hour and the duck bao buns tbh. Was the best choice I could have made. Very cute space for a date or happy hour with friends. It wasn't overly crowded and the servers were really nice. It feels like it may be new or many people don't know about it yet. Either way, loved the happy hour food and drink options and I would go again!

Yelp
newer neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and a cute rooftop! i was excited to check out this restaurant since it is very close to where i live, and the food did not disappoint! we ordered the melting pot bao buns to start which were extremely juicy and flavorful. for my main, i had the SOMA jam burger which was the perfect combination of flavors. every bite here was absolutely delightful, no complaints about the food whatsoever! the only reason i cannot give this spot 5 stars is because the service was terrible. we were seated on the rooftop and then completely neglected for the entirety of our meal. the only times we saw our server was when he was dropping off our food. he never checked in on us, and our water was never refilled. we sat with empty cups for most of our meal before we tried unsuccessfully to flag our server down twice. perhaps the service would be better for the indoor seating... it's a shame because the food was so good.

Yelp
The rooftop was fairly nice although I would make a recommendation that the business should consider wiping down the railings more frequently (they were a tad gross). The service was pretty slow and lackluster and I didn't get my drink for at least 25 minutes and they didn't have my first option and it took a while to order. No comment on the food because we didn't get any. The prices err on the more expensive side like other businesses opening up in cc which is unfortunate. Happy hour put out drinks around $10 which is also a bit high.

Yelp
My first visit to Topside Tavern was for a restaurant week lunch. They had a great deal for the $20 price point. I started out with a crabcake appetizer and then had a soft shell crab sandwich. You aren't going to find that combination on any other restaurant week menu. The two small crab cakes did have filler, but were still very good. The soft shell crab was delicious, on a soft brioche bun. It wasn't the most meaty soft shell crab, but still made for quite the tasty sandwich. The restaurant was packed, so I sat at the bar but I still managed to get good service from the bartender who was also the waitress for the tables. Another woman sitting at the bar was raving about the burger and I noticed that burgers are half price during happy hour. I was so happy with my lunch that I knew what I had to do! A week later I was back for happy hour. It wasn't long before I was sipping on an old fashioned and trying the burger. It was a smash burger with cooper sharp cheese and bacon. The burger was as juicy as a smash burger can get, and it was on the same soft brioche bun as the soft shell crab sandwich. Cooper sharp may be my new favorite cheese on a burger, and you can never go wrong with bacon. It was a top tier burger and a great deal at half off. Happy Hour does end at 6, so make sure you get there quickly after work and put in the order. Topside Tavern is now a part of my happy hour rotation.

Yelp
Topside Tavern is a newer addition to the area and provides fantastic food with a nice variety of beverages available. I'd assume it's probably more busy during the week when workers are around because we visited on a Saturday around 5pm and had no problem getting seated immediately. The bao buns were soft, flavorful and unique! The grilled chicken sandwich had a tasty pineapple barbecue sauce that you could actually taste the sweet pineapple flavor which wasn't overpowering. The inside ambiance is pretty modern and new looking, but the bathroom missed the mark - the toilet is black and shows water spots. Otherwise, it's a great spot, good service, and will visit again soon.

Yelp
We were very excited to see a new restaurant occupy the space where farmers keep used to be, as it is prime real estate for either post-work drinks or a casual dinner out. The space is also well utilized with the downstairs bar/dining room complemented by the upstairs, open top dining area. When we arrived at 6:15, it was quit busy but we were seated immediately. We waited a few minutes for a server but we chalk that up to the busy atmosphere and the staff getting used to the swing of things. We ordered some beers, the Brussels sprouts, the shrimp katsu Sando and the jam burger and everything was delicious--no surprise to fans of Thanal Indian Tavern. The menu had many other options that were exciting, so we definitely plan on coming back. We also had a chance to speak with the owner, who mentioned they are bringing some new options to the menu such as calamari and mussels.

Yelp
Very tasty, well made drinks. We enjoyed the cider and the No Worries cocktail. Staff was very nice and accommodating, even on a busy day when they were full.

Yelp
I had a very nice time here at the Topside Tavern. The drinks are fairly priced and very affordable. The service is very quick and very attentive. The ambiance is very unique but also very familiar for some reason. 5 stars.

Yelp
Food is great - service very pleasant - I would rate this five stars for a local spot except for two items - hot tea and hot coffee only served at weekends - no hot drinks during the week for lunch or dinner! And the unisex bathroom needs to be closely monitored for cleanliness and toilet paper. Ladies, make sure you have some tissues with you if you decide to use the bathroom. If they can rectify the these two things it would be a five star local joint. They are in an area that has dozens of really great places at all price points for competition - and customers can vote with their feet.

Yelp
Great place!!!! The ambiance and food was amazing! Blueberry pancakes is a must! Service is 5 star, Aaleeyah is fabulous - will def be coming back!!!

Yelp
Amazing- new sports bar selling $18 burgers without fries or a side. Just what people are looking for

Yelp
Food was ok - my salad was fresh and great. Not very crowded for a Friday evening , really didn't need reservations. One problem they were out of a lot beverages beer and wine .

Yelp
We were very excited to learn that this new place had opened in our neighborhood. They have a great Sunday sandwich special; we had the soft crab sandwich tonight and it was exceptional. The staff and service was fantastic; super friendly and attentive. We recommend the Topside Old Fashioned. We also talked to Liam about how they want to be a beer-forward bar with a pending to-go license as well as full-service lunch. We will definitely be back many times and look forward to this being a weekly go-to spot for lunch or dinner/drinks.

Yelp
One of the best kept secrets of Rittenhouse Square!! I actually eat here twice a week and never had a bad meal from there! excellent customer service and great vibes as well

Yelp
We came for a rooftop brunch and had a great time. Their menu ranges from savory to sweet and the drinks were excellent. We also had grey goose lemon drops which were INCREDIBLE! The bartender and chef also came out to greet us and the manager was extremely attentive. I'll absolutely be back

Yelp
Terrific happy hour drinks (and unbeatable prices), tasty food (we had the Brussels sprouts), friendly attentive service, and cloth napkins.

Yelp
Wow, just WOW! Went for lunch today and was blown away by the attention to detail with every dish, from the mouthwatering stuffed squash blossoms and delicious crabcakes to the perfect smash patty and outstanding soft shell crab po'boy. Service was also outstanding - will definitely return to this lovely spot!

Great service, beers/ciders and you have to try their Bao buns, they won't disappoint
