"When 10 Speed Coffee opened inside Pedaler’s Fork in 2011, founders Gideon Kleinman and Robbie Schaeffer simply wanted a cafe next to their favorite mountain biking trails and cycling routes near Calabasas. The duo applied same recipe to their forthcoming Santa Monica location, which opens mid-July on the corner of 20th and Santa Monica Boulevard. Santa Monica’s 10 Speed has 1,000 square feet of space for cyclists, laptop warriors, and hospital workers, along with a 600 square foot patio. Expect pre-packaged salads and sandwiches from Pedaler’s, fresh juice from Juice Budz, and pastry from Bakers Kneaded. Though there’s a heavy emphasis on cycling culture, repairs, and activities, Kleinman welcomes all. 10 Speed offers secure bike racks, along with an underground parking lot. The team chose a location close to Santa Monica’s mountain biking trails, but the cafe will also fill a gap. The surrounding neighborhood has a dense group of hospitals, office buildings, and health care workers with only few dining options. Kleinman noted, “We wanted to be next to a hospital for health care professionals that need it. Coffee is a serious commodity when working at or visiting a hospital. We have a chance to give a good product to those that are overworked and underappreciated.” The neighborhood’s transformation is imminent. 10 Speed’s opening is the first food arrival, with Meanwhile, the area has some incoming restaurants: Border Grill’s Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger are opening a new Mexican restaurant in the near future while one block over, Bruce Marder’s Red Rooster bakery is still under construction. 10 Speed Coffee chugs along despite some sets backs in the coffee-bicycle combination. The Wheelhouse closed last year, though Spoke Bicycle Cafe, Bicycle Coffee, and á Bloc continue to fuse the two avocations. Super Domestic Coffee is LA’s newest cycling-centric shop, which opened June 4. Once 10 Speed Coffee opens, hours will be 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. 10 Speed Coffee. 1919 Santa Monica Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA" - Mona Holmes

Google
If you're nearby and seeking a place to relax with a decent cup of coffee, 10 Speed Coffee is worth considering. The staff were courteous and attentive, ensuring that all customers felt welcome and well cared for. The coffee was well-prepared, and I had a pleasant breakfast experience there. The vegan breakfast sandwich was particularly enjoyable. The atmosphere was comfortable, making it a suitable spot to unwind.

Google
wow, what a GEM! don’t let the exterior deceive you as it did me. this place is a GEM. high-quality offerings, kind and helpful service, delicious food including a plethora of gluten-free and vegan options, grab n go options (gf and vegan options too), lots of seating, outlets, and wifi! can’t wait to come back! i got a matcha americano with almond milk and it was 12/10! also they use ceremonial grade matcha neokahama (sp?) brand. will def be back!

Google
Lots of seating. Plugs in multiple areas. The parking is a little weird. There is nearby street parking and a few garages associated with other businesses. The coffee shop is attached to a hospital I think? The coffee is good, the music is great, and the huge windows are awesome for the ambience. I love the bicycle decor as well. Cute!

Google
We visited a different coffee shop every day for 10 days while we visited LA. This was our favorite. Exceptionally clean, bright, happy energy. Incredible food and drink selections. Baristas made us feel like Queens. No, seriously - they spent so much time answering all of our tourist questions. They were awesome. This was a 12 out of 10 experience for us.

Google
This Sunny cafe has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, warm atmosphere and friendly service. I ordered my usual iced latte, it was good no complaints. However they charge an extra .50 for light ice and an extra $1 for milk alternatives. They have a nice selection of pastries, and donuts that are made with alternative sugars and clean ingredients. Always nice to see. They have a Chaga mushroom mixture that can be added to your drink for $2 that might be fun. Also an array of grab and go snacks, drinks, treats etc if you are on the go.

Google
super cute interior! had outlets for the two tables at the back with wifi :) the matcha with oat milk and agave was SO SO good definitely recommend!

Google
Very nice cafe where you can work and nobody bother you. Clean place with nice staff, good coffee and pastries!

Google
A great place in Santa Monica to grab freshly brewed and locally sourced coffee, also a nice selection of breakfast options as well as juices, parfaits. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating.

Yelp
I had the best speciality coffee drink here!! A pumpkin ice latte with a chai cold foam top. Heavenly. So delicious I will dream about this until fall next year. Staff is super friendly. Cold brew is also good. And wait time was short!

Vincent W.

Yelp
Random visit for me searching for matcha in Santa Monica college area. I'm glad I tried this location, added to favorites because they have ceremonial matcha and chai lattes. With pastry, snack, and sandwich options too! I only ordered the iced oatmilk matcha latte because the almond croissants were sold out. But it was perfect to me. They make theirs ceremonial style which is preferred. I opted out of sweetener because the oatmilk is naturally sweet. The taste was decadent of green matcha and milk balanced. I wish there were dtla location because I'd go often. Yet for now this a top option for cafe choice in Santa Monica area. There's no public restaurant as it's attached to a public building. Various patio and indoor seating available with a cozy cabin vibe. The staff were professional and nice. Make this a top option with various coffee and tea drinks available.

Alexia P.

Yelp
I had such a nice experience going in this coffee shop for a study session. This coffee shop is so student friendly with spacious tables, comfy seating, plugs, etc. The place is spatious and breezy and the 2 hours limit is a way to get a productive study session and allows a lot more people to enjoy the space. The matcha is great and they have a great selection of pastries and energy/focus drinks.

Andrea B.

Yelp
A long drive for a doctors appointment called for a stop for some coffee!! Always down for a new spot and this one was a quick walk from my destination. I got their Fall pumpkin special and it was DELICIOUS!! Super cute inside and service was fast even with quite a full house.

Eriko P.

Yelp
We came here to have coffee/ tea. Counter service. You wait in line, order and pay. I wanted an ice tea, so I ordered the Peach Oolong, which the staffer told me it would take around 3 minutes to brew and chill. I didn't mind at all. My friend wanted a cappuccino. She just returned from a trip from Rome so we told the staffer that she hoped the cappuccino would be as tasty as in Rome and it was! The kind staffer asked if she wanted a cup ( ceramic) instead of a paper to go cup since we chose to find a place to sit down. This staffer was intuitive, efficient and kind. 5 star to the staffer! THANK YOU! There is a long communal table where one can plug in your laptop. There are also a long high top table along the glass wall, facing SM Blvd. We chose to sit in chairs for ease of conversation. The food selection for pastries is limited when we arrived around 12:30pm. They had doughnuts and some healthy parfait options with chia seeds and dragonfruit. We sat inside and enjoyed our cap and ice tea. There is outside seating along 20th street, just north of SM Blvd. I will definitely return here to meet for coffee or tea! Nice, clean, relaxing atmosphere.

Karen W.

Yelp
Good amount of people studying, working, and hanging out over coffees and pastries on a Sunday late morning/midday. Chill atmosphere, jazzy tunes, good lighting with large windows facing Santa Monica Boulevard. The long communal table is popular amongst laptop users thanks to proximity to outlets. There's stool seating along the window side and booth-like along the other wall with outlets, as well. A solid menu offering teas, espressos, and lattes. There's also refrigerated drinks, pastries, bars, pre-made blended bowls, parfaits, and hot items like breakfast burritos and vegan breakfast sandwiches. My large-sized chaga (+$2) coconut milk (+$2) latte was $10. Base prices are relative to competitors (regular latte at $6); it's the add-ons that get you. Street parking, mostly metered, unless you are here for a quick stop. There's a few, 15-min spots in the covered lot behind the store front shared with Cedar Sinai.

Whitney S.

Yelp
My turmeric tonic was so good. The batista was great at making suggestions to limit the sugar content of the drink but still make it delicious. My daughter ordered an iced Macha latte which she enjoyed very much. The customer service and the atmosphere was exceptional!

Randy O.

Yelp
Everything was great--cortado, breakfast burrito and an OJ--but overpriced in my opinion. I guess part of the cost is for the space, which is amazing! In the future, I'd skip the $14 burrito and the OJ and maybe get maybe get something less expensive to eat.

Jeanna K.

Yelp
I have hit up every coffee place in Santa Monica- esp when this one closes for a week for the holidays. Nothing compares. It's the espresso-unmatched flavor and quality of the shots. Money well spent. The crew here makes me feel special every time I come in. Love this place so much! On my days off I enjoy a cup there and the vibe is immaculate.

Jemar M.

Yelp
Change your hours on all apps. I just drove over here, cause you added your business to this app, and did not change your hours to the fact that you close at 2. If anything Sundays are the days you should be open later. You owe me gas money.

Jane H.

Yelp
Best coffee & the workers are all so so nice no matter what time you go. Can be crowded sometimes but the tables are nice and big for getting some work done if you want to do that.

Eden M.

Yelp
Expect to spend over 8 $ on a micro latte. It's good coffee though I'll give it to them. Hurts my soul to spend that much, even on a large Americano

Kassandra S.

Yelp
working from home can get boring, look no further I found a great work from home coffee shop with PLENTY of outlets, LOTS of seating, GOOD drinks & food & semi-reliable wifi. The service from the employees was great, very kind & fast at calling out orders! Now for the drinks & food!: Chagaccino (mushroom coffee) 9/10: great earthy taste matcha 9/10: great taste, not sweet. Rich flavor Vegan sandwich 8/10: great tasting! I will say the bread made a mess because of flaky it was

Mary B.

Yelp
The matcha latte (warm) is great! I added some honey and one packet of brown sugar for some sweet flavor. Service is fantastic! Very nice people. And fast! Went midway on a Tues and slightly full from a seating perspective. Ambience is chill! Lots of light, plenty of seating options and chargers. So quiet which I loved!! Will be back for sure. Hoping they get a few more warm snack options. Lots of room temp snacks for sale and cold bottled drinks etc.

Travis L.

Yelp
Great service, super nice people, chorizo burrito was bad and so was their drip coffee. sorry....

Nancy B.

Yelp
I ordered the iced maple oatmilk latte and it was delicious. So creamy! I'm not the biggest fan of sweet coffee, so next time I would definitely order less maple syrup in it because it was pretty sweet. The staff was really nice and most customers in there were working or studying. Such a cute little gem if you're in the area. Street meter parking

Marosha N.

Yelp
The worst matcha I've had in my life and trust me I've had many bad ones. Literally tasted like mint and water like there was no matcha taste in it at all and I'm assuming the mint taste was from their highly over processed vanilla syrup. I'd believe if you told me they put vanilla syrup, water and green food coloring and called it matcha. Also their WiFi sucks! Trash matcha and can't even get my work done ‍ ruined my day fr

Cindy K.

Yelp
Came here on a rainy Saturday to grab a cup of coffee and sit and read for a bit. The place was busy and most of the working spaces were taken up. The wifi was a bit hard to connect to. The cold brew coffee I had was delicious and there didnt seem to be too many food options. The wooden chairs they have arent the most comfortable but i would definitely come back for the coffee. However, the lack of parking in the area makes it really hard to find any. The servers/baristas were great and overall, a good experience.

Jessica F.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop right across from the hotel I was staying at! Very clean and super nice customer service!

Rose L.

Yelp
Good coffee, and unique flavor options. My only issue is that the staff is not always super friendly... I get it, who wants to be working on a Saturday morning, but us coming into a coffee shop to spend a significant amount of money on coffee really does set the tone for the rest of the day... It's a beautiful store that I would study in if I was still a student.

keemia s.

Yelp
Been here a couple of times. It's a great spot to wait for procedures at the hospital even though a little overpriced. Very friendly and professional staff.

Cordi W.

Yelp
A perfectly average/nice coffee shop, nice baristas, good drinks but nothing special. Nothing that stands out - except, their spotty wifi. It's a good cafe, don't get me wrong. Very typical nice LA cafe, their drinks taste like everyone else's drinks (good), their atmosphere like every other coffee shop on the westside. Slightly crowded but you can find a place to sit, might be the last place? But it's a seat. The wifi sucks. Public wifi without a password. Unreliable really. Also in a LTE zone with 1 bar. I have Verizon! So maybe a different provider is better, who knows? Pretty frustrating. The averagely good coffee doesn't make up for not being able to get work done before a doctors appointment.

Hellen T.

Yelp
We were interested in trying 10 Speed for its great reviews, spacious common area, and access to outlets. Parking isn't too bad, as long as you avoid the expensive lots of the surrounding medical buildings. We easily found 2 hour street parking pretty close by. The coffee was pretty good as well, but you do have to pay $1 for flavors like vanilla and $1 for alternative milk. Service is friendly and really quick. This cafe is great for studying or doing work because it's not too loud yet still has some ambient noise, it's a comfortable temperature, and there's even a bathroom across the hall. Overall, 10/10 for 10 Speed!

E N.

Yelp
This based on the coffee only. We ordered online (which was easy) and did not interact with the staff at all. The coffee was passable. I ordered an iced latte and my husband got a hot drip. We drank most of what we ordered but I can't say we enjoyed it much. It was just very lacking in flavor.

Karen C.

Yelp
Tried their iced maple latte and it was amazing! I highly recommend. Staff was friendly. I was in and out; quick service. Parking in the rear of the building. It was nice and quiet inside. They have indoor seating.

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Delicious iced oat milk latte and drip coffee. I also had the vegan mermaid bowl which was yummy. Fun bike themed coffee shop with very kind employees!

April B.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop and their delicious gluten free donuts! It was the first time I had gluten free donut and they were better than the real deal!

Elaina E.

Yelp
Just found my favorite coffee place in Los Angeles. Sea air, friendly baristas, great atmosphere, really cool setting/decor and ambiance. Coffee is top notch with delish food options. Right by some appointments I go to on the regular. Will be returning very soon.

David D.

Yelp
The name of this coffee shop is totally wrong! The right name is 21 speed! Because after a coffee here you will be racing around like 21 speeds, not 10! I got the small freshly brewed coffee (3.50) at 10 am and that kept me on pace all day. It went down so smooth. It's the only coffee that I will say is better than Starcrooks Pikes. I sat inside for a while and it was so comfortable. It's across the street from St. John's Hospital and Dr Offices. Even my Dr. recommended it with a caution: It's expensive! It's 1 dollar more than Starcrooks for the same, but I think the coffee here is better. I parked on the street 4 blocks away--not sure if they validate in the attached garage? Don't risk signs and meters on the nearby streets or that coffee will cost you $103.50 Try it if in the area for St. John's or cycling by.

Nikki S.

Yelp
Wanted to try the maple latte. Most coffee places don't offer it as a syrup choice. It was good but I couldn't pin point it as maple syrup. Maybe my taste buds are off haha. I could do less pumps of the syrup though but that's just me that always does less than the regular amount of sugar of drinks. Also tried the Rico suave breakfast burrito. It was packed and get it with bacon. My favorite salsa was the roasted pepper vs the garlic cilantro creamy sauce.

Emily I.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops on the west side. It's a nice spot to do some work or bring a book. Great service and wicked coffee! I've tried a lot of things here and my favorites include the vanilla (whole milk) latte and the maple (oat milk) latte. Croissants were the biggest I've ever seen at a coffee shop! The pastries are alright - come here for the coffee. Get the chagaccino if you need a little boost!!! They also have this new item called swamp juice (matcha latte & chaga) which was super interesting and worth a try if you want to be adventurous.

Ana R.

Yelp
Great service, for a cold brew before my shift, and got a peach yogurt. Excited to have gotten the yogurt but it's expired.

Damny M.

Yelp
Every time I come here the staff is super friendly and go above and beyond providing good conversation, amazing vibes, and wonderful coffee. The quad shot iced vanilla latte is my go-to. I bring all of my colleagues here and they have nothing but good things to say about their coffee and pastries. 10/10 recommend.

Dee B.

Yelp
I hate overpriced coffee and its bitter. I got their cold brew with oat milk, it was delicious. The oat milk complement the nuttiness of the coffee. I can tell that the it's freshly roasted. Not crazy about the parking though. Street parking in Santa Monica, if you're familiar, you can relate : )

daniel m.

Yelp
10 Speed does such a great job in providing superior coffee. Santa Monica location is a lovely spot with great staff, who know about coffee and are very happy to let you know what might be a good fit for you. We went there twice and enjoyed the great coffee, tea and pastries, while being able to watch the folks go by on Santa Monica Blvd (no extra charge.) Highly recommend!

Maleerat P.

Yelp
It is nice and clean place here. The staffs are friendly. My ice latte is pretty yummy... The coffee was medium roast. There are milk alternatives.. I got my with oat milk. While enjoying my coffee there, staff came out to clean all the chairs and tables... hand sanitizer is provided at the cashier area. I feel safe from the COVID while being here. I will be back

Lauren H.

Yelp
iced maple latte changed my life. then the onion bagel did. my favorite place to grab coffee or study!

Jo S.

Yelp
I had a snack lunch today at 10 Speed. The experience was pleasant, the staff attractive and friendly, the service efficient. But... I had a prepared sandwich which looked attractive in the counter...It purported to be a prosciutto and brie cheese sandwich. Actually, it was a giant bun, liberally slathered with pesto sauce, stuffed with a green, leafy plant like arugula, plus a thimbleful of prosciutto and a tiny sliver of brie, about the size of a third of a slice of bacon. It was a complete disaster. Utterly embarrassing. A complete joke. I would have gladly paid double for that sandwich if it had prosciutto and brie with garnish and not the other way around. It was like having a hamburger with a giant bun, half a head of lettuce, a cup of mayo, and a patty the size of a sugar cube.

Shelley W.

Yelp
Plenty of outlets, free street parking just a block down, and amazing coffee! D R I N K S : + Iced Oat Maple Latte 5/5 - A must try! Absolutely delicious + Almond Croissant 3/5 - Beautiful presentation but it was a little dense and too dry for my liking A M B I A N C E : + Very light and airy! Bar seats by the window, communal table, and a few more smaller tables scattered around the room + Outlets by every other seat making it really easy to charge your devices (very well thought out!) + Really chill music played at a reasonable volume that isn't too distracting Overall great experience and will definitely be back!

Karen P.

Yelp
Alright, I came back and the WiFi worked for me so I'm updating my review to 5 stars. When you join their WiFi, a screen should pop up where you enter your email address. Once you go through this step, you're then connected to the WiFI, which was fast and consistent during my 2-hour stay. If you don't get this screen but your device says you're connected... well, you're not! PROs: - Nice, clean interior - Lots of seating available - Plenty of outlets - Courteous staff - Good drinks! - Stable, fast WiFi - Lots of natural lighting Other Notes: - Not a con particularly with 10 Speed but parking can be hard to find (typical for Santa Monica, though) - Bathroom (one-stall) is across the hall and you need a key. But this isn't really a con. The bathroom is very spacious and was clean and well-maintained when I used it. I would recommend this place for studying! I plan to come back again :)

Erica C.

Yelp
Came on Sunday around noon to get some work in, was easily able to find seats! They close at 3pm on Sundays, so it was the perfect amount of time to sip and work. Coffee: I ordered an iced vanilla latte with almond milk. Honestly, I really didn't love the drink. After comparing it with the other drinks my 2 friends got, I'm pretty sure it was the almond milk. It was almost as if the almond milk went bad..? But then I also wasn't sure. (However, my GI system was totally fine for the remainder of the day) Ambience: 10/10. I loved the casual cafe music playing and the set up. There are bar tables against the window, short tables low to the ground, and even regular height tables. The vibe was great. Parking: We got super lucky and found a very close metered spots, and parking is free on Sundays! If it was during the week though, I would probably be a little more worried with the street parking situation. Overall, I'd come back for the ambience, but I would 100% try a different drink. Hopefully they can change my mind!

Eric F.

Yelp
Conveniently located near UCLA Santa Monica, 10 Speed has delivered numerous cups of top notch drip coffee (both signature blend and single origin) along with finely made espresso drinks. Service has always been friendly and welcoming and there is ample seating both indoors and out if you want to sit back and sip.

Taghreed A.

Yelp
Needed a quick fix of caffeine and I stumbled upon this quaint coffee shop ! I ordered the maple latte with oat milk and it was delicious ! They are know for this drink and it's the most requested drink . The maple ratio is definitely perfect and not over powering!

Sam S.

Yelp
Super trendy and hippie coffee shop in the Santa Monica area with a great vibe and friendly staff. The coffee tastes good as I've been here many times. I've had all the lattes, americanos and mochas that one could ever dream of so I can confidently say it is very good! I am not the biggest fan of the food (except the breakfast burrito) but I assume that the coffee is what you are really here for!

Julian P.

Yelp
Came for the coffee, stayed for the Nutella croissants, good lighting, and wifi. The coffee was really tasty and I appreciated the latte art. Nice array of pastries that all looked bomb! The Nutella croissant was beautiful yet just the right balance of Nutella to croissant ratio. I would recommend you come early to get the best variety of pastries. Looking for a place to study on a weekday? Look no further! Tons of seating, good wifi, and outlets.

Sarah W.

Yelp
Great place to study and enjoy some great coffee! We tried the Chagaccino mushroom latte (chaga, cacao, cinnamon, vanilla, monk fruit) and the Maple latte. I loved both drinks! The Chagacinno isn't something I'd get on the regular but it's a must-try just for the sake of trying a mushroom drink and I have no regrets about trying it. It doesn't have an overpowering taste at all, just earthy coffee paired excellently with almond (recommended) or oat milk. The Maple latte with oat was delicious and is a flavor I don't find much at other coffee shops. The matcha was also yummy and good quality matcha powder. The interior design is super cute, there are plenty of outlets and fast wifi, and a conveniently located bathroom.

Martha R S.

Yelp
Nice morning coffee and quick breakfast experience. The coffee is exceptional, and the breakfast burrito delish.

Eric R.

Yelp
Hip, bright and minimalist cool. Friendly staff and good brew. Pro-tip, go to Tartine for pastries but walk here for much better coffee.

Jorge G.

Yelp
I already loved 10 Speed from my various visits to the Calabasas location. They have always served some of the best coffee in SoCal and they have the coolest settings and vibe in their shops. I won't even front, I was actually going to try another local spot this morning but they didn't open on time and I had to get to work so made an immediate decision to come here. The universe aligned me to a delicious latte, it worked out for the best. The young lady who was there was friendly and we had a quick chat about coffee and the holidays. She made the suggestion to add the cinnamon to my maple latte with oat milk and it was a banger! 10 Speed espresso blend (Kickstand) is some of the best I've had, even outside of the state. This is a must if you are truly a coffee lover. Parking in the rear, great service, awesome baristas and top tier drinks... can't ever go wrong here.
