The 23 Best Restaurants In Amsterdam 2024

"A restaurant that can straddle the line between comforting familiarity and buzzy newness is a rare find. If you want something interesting but aren’t necessarily willing to gamble on the hottest spot in town, 101 Gowrie is where you want to be. The kitchen churns out culture-straddling dishes like tagliolini bolognese with ramen and North sea squid, Chinese pancakes doused in hollandaise, and crispy new potatoes floating on vanilla espuma that remind us of dipping McDonald's fries in ice cream. Come here when you’re looking for food that’ll surprise you, but know that the dining room atmosphere is more straightforward than the menu and the background hip-hop adds to the low-key feel." - paolo espanola

"Dutch cuisine seen through the eyes of an Australian chef with Japanese and German roots is a certain recipe for success. In this restaurant with the feel of a private living room, Alex Haupt gives full range to his creativity, using Dutch products and traditional recipes to create exciting spicy, sweet and sour dishes. Make sure you try his natural wines!" - Michelin Inspector

I've been here 3 times and every time I keep getting delighted and surprised with the culinary creations that they serve. Every time I go there, I'm surprised that i spent up to 4h there while it feels like a lot less, in a positive way. The dishes that they serve, are Japanese inspired but completely unique. You won't find these creations anywhere in the world. They pair it wonderfully with wine and sake. The restaurant works with a single seating service, which means that you have all the time in the world to enjoy your meal. The interior is very inviting and warm, yet simple.

Just one word: WOW! What a fantastic experience. 10 Beautiful and yummy dishes Stunning service: professional, careful and at the same time friendly and easy going Nice location, with minimalist design with a Japanese touch. Considering the amount of food and the type of restaurant I believe the ratio quality/prices is very good

We had a very nice experience here. The staff and chef are friendly, introduced the dishes to us and always checked with us if everything is okay. Among this menu, we love the bread and the soup the most.

We visited last weekend for a nice date night and it was so lovely. Incredible food and wine, Intimate setting, wonderful team. Loved that Alex served us each dish and talked us through them, super special! His partner the sommelier was so knowledgeable as well. Felt like we were dining in their home in a way. We had the 5 courses with matching wines, the flavours were unique and unexpected and the wines were special too. We’ll be back! Thanks guys.

Where to start? The team? Incredible! The food? Excellent! The whole experience in this restaurant was above and beyond our expectations. The team itself takes care to be personable and friendly in a way that makes you feel relaxed. They also ensure that you know exactly what you are eating, and why, which makes you appreciate the dish even more. I would say this is the best team I've met so far in all the restaurants I've been. The food itself is amazing! We went for the full 7 course menu, and the different textures and flavours we tried left us in awe. Not only that, but the course order is also decided in such a way for the current dish to complement the next. And for first timers that worry about portion sizes; we generally eat a lot and we still felt full at the end of the night :) All in all, highly recommended! Do not let the price discourage you (which is even low compared to similar type of restaurants) and go for an experience you will remember for a long time! Will visit again!

First: Thanks again for the pleasant evening. After a warm Welcome, we got seated in a really intimate atmosphere and explained every detail, also on how the evening has to go due to covid 19. So we went with Cocktails, the 5 course menu and a bottle of pink. They even gave us some different courses, as we were a couple, so we could taste even more. Everything just tasted great. Took some well known memories and gave it a twist. Had much details you kinda could fall into, if wanted. All deeply considered, in common to have the japanese taste. The whole staff was very friendly all evening and made us feel being at friends. Would recommend anyone to go there and have a lovely experience.

We enjoyed our visit to 101 Gowrie. I really appreciate the chef making a vegetarian entree for me. I tried food I haven’t had before. The various courses were pretty and tasty. The bread and butter was so good (great crust on the bread)! The desserts were delicious, my favorites were the mini cannoli and little tarts. With the 8 plates/courses it’s a long dinner. We didn’t try the wine pairing but perhaps should have. Interesting wine list. One bottle we had was not good but the rose was crisp and refreshing. Service was mixed. The chef and team was personable when delivering plates. The server was perhaps a bit overwhelmed but friendly. Overall very good dinner.

Google
The presentation of each courses are pretty, but I don’t think the taste is worth the price. It’s either too salty (especially the main ) or too plain. They over used the word “Japanese inspired” as they just add some inexpensive seasoning like Dashi and XO sauce.

Yelp
A perfect experience from the moment I was welcomed by Alex and Blanca, to the last bite. The menu was thoughtfully designed and flawlessly executed. Creative, intentional, and absent of ostentation, each course or, more specifically, each ingredient, shined. This is a dinner that I will remember for a very long time, and I look forward to returning on my next visit to Amsterdam.

Yelp
TLDR: Fixed menu, amazing dining experience. If you love food, this is a must try! My sister and I were huge fans of the Final Table show on Netflix. So when we had to go to Amsterdam for work, we knew we had to make a stop here. Alex Haupt opened his restaurant here very recently, with a very farm to table experience. The menu is fixed, and the restaurant is intimate. The food was phenomenal. Each dish was thoughtfully presented and beautifully plated. They change their menu every few weeks or months, with all local ingredients and dishes inspired by old Netherlands culture. The waiting staff is extremely attentive and described each dish as it came out. Alex himself was presenting dishes and chatting with all the diners. FYI make a reservation if you plan on going as the restaurant only has a few tables (which allows for the personalized experience). I'm sure Alex has been getting a lot of fans coming in, and he was super nice about taking a photo with us. Definitely take the time to have dinner here if you are in the area. Alex - it was delicious and amazing. Thank you!!

Yelp
We were visiting Amsterdam for just a few days and ever since seeing chef Alex Haupt on final table we wanted to give his food a go and I will say it was well worth the price of admission The food was wonderful and the chef came out a few times during the meal to serve and talk about the food. A running gag was what not to eat. Like the rocks in the picture or the raw potatoes.. sadly he has had people try to eat both so more of a warning than a joke. If you are in the area it would be hard to do better than dinner here!

Yelp
Visiting Amsterdam from San Francisco on a business trip and accidentally stumbled upon this little gem. Highly recommend! Exquisite artwork and superb flavor - very memorable. The staff and chef are also super friendly and accommodating. Looks like this is a relatively new restaurant so go before it becomes super crowded

Yelp
Cozy atmosphere and an impeccable tasting menu! I couldn't identify a weak course on the menu and the service easily met my expectations for true fine dining. Favorites: The bread and butter - seriously I could eat the butter with a spoon Smoked eel Halibut Cocoa dessert Sweetbreads and langoustine A must try when in Amsterdam - go here before you can't get a table anymore!!
