King Thai has delicious drinks, it's close to transit and has a cool earthy vibe out on the patio. They have specials and some classics based on the flavor type of sour, bitter or sweet. Bae and I both stuck to sour and got the sweet talk and 55 steps. They had a dj going inside so we made our way to a table on the patio. The drinks were so different but soooooo delicious. Especially given the 85+ degree weather that day, it was lovely to have a refreshing citrus drink. The tables outside are nicely set up along the fence and in the protected covering in the street. It's the perfect set up for people watching and you get some shade if you're by one of the trees. At midnight you have to go inside or pack it up due to the noise ordinance but if you're ready to dance the night away, it's a perfect transition.

Stopped by quickly to check out an oyster pop up that was here. Very cute, inviting bar with good music and good vibes. I tried the sweet talk and the windward isle which both were delicious and on the strong side. Happy hour till 8 but doesn't include their speciality drinks. Which I didn't mind because they were good. The bartender was friendly and did a great job managing the crowd. I'll be back for sure!

This is the cutest little Crown Heights bar from the same folks behind Super Power. If you're familiar with Super Power you'll recognize very similar colorful menus and elaborate tiki cocktails. They have great daily happy hour specials and even without a discount their cocktails are $13, which is a steal in this economy. I love this spot for a cozy date night-- you don't have to shout over loud music or a big crowd, but the place is just busy enough in the evenings that you can still feel anonymous. They have a rotating series of pop up chefs, which I haven't had the opportunity to try yet. I've tried most of their cocktail menu and while they're a bit sweet for my palate, they're nuanced and made with interesting ingredients.

Drink was lovely! The bartender helped me select a cocktail and then he made it--very nice! They were not serving food that day but he gave me recommendations of places by promoting neighborhood options. The ambiance/vibe is very relaxed. Felt like a little oasis inside. Will definitely return!

This is a fun bar! The service was very kind even though they were very busy and only had one bartender. The drinks are good and innovative, they're just a little overpriced in my opinion. Good music too!

Great drinks and super affordable. I can't say this place is undiscovered cause it's always busy but it's such a gem. I love a tiki style drink. The pop up food was also good! The vibe is excellent. So cute and a fun place to hang.

My family is from Crown Heights way before King Tai was an idea so when it came it was exciting to have a new beautiful venue in the neighborhood. Unfortunately instead of welcoming the people that were there before King Tai they were disgustingly unwelcoming. From immediately saying NO to a staff event (instead of thought partnering with me) to telling me my bill without saying "oh and plus tax with the card" he was visibly annoyed when I said "wait you said $26". Just awfully gross service if you're not white. A group of 3 "gentleman" also didn't find it necessary to close the gap between them with an open chair until I asked "is anyone sitting there". Then the one hovering next to us begrudgingly said "oh no" and sat between his friends. Grossly unwelcoming service and atmosphere overall for a bar that came into our neighborhood. Just sad.

King Tai has pop-up restaurants for certain days. I wanted to try C Marty's Jerk for awhile. I must say that Nancy, Chris and T made this an even better experience. Great customer service. we ordered: Jerk Shrimp Tacos Shrimp and Chicken Banh Mi Elote Tres Bebes Queen of Corona (not pictured) Everything was delish. They have a lot of outdoor seating. Indoor seating was not an option. You order at the door and they give you a number and bring the items to you.

Really cheap house cocktails for $12 and a good happy hour deal every day. I came on a Sunday during early evening and it was easy to find seating. Music got a little louder later in the evening so just a heads up if you're looking for a quiet space!

I past this place many times over the years but finally decided to try this place on my birthday. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the drinks are and by how affordable they are about $12.00 a drink which is good for New York City. Everyone was friendly even got a shot of Tequila for my Birthday. Good atmosphere and ambience.

This was probably the most uncomfortable bar experience I've had. I truly felt like me and my partner weren't welcomed here, and were rushed immediately after we were served our drinks. I really wanted to try King Tai out because I love supporting local businesses in my community. However, this place is nothing but gentrification to its fullest. Walking in, it's pretty clear of the demographic that is represented here, which I personally find strange because this is Brooklyn, and Brooklyn is known for its rich culture and diversity -- the reason I love my borough so much. But I really felt like we were treated differently than the other folks who were sitting at the bar. Super freaking awkward... So just a small note to the owners -- treat all patrons fairly. Oh and if you're gonna serve me rosé, at least give me my drink in an acceptable piece of glassware...

Was excited to come here for pre-dinner drinks on my birthday. We arrived at 5:02 and the only visible employee was setting up outside as we walked up. The place was empty inside. Trying to be respectful, I asked if they were open (i.e., ready for patrons). Without looking up, the employee sarcastically responded, "Is the light on?" So, we left and went to another great neighborhood bar for birthday drinks.

Honestly don't know how this place isn't 1. More popular 2. More expensive. It's always a great time, rarely super packed like some bars can get. Tons of seating and great DJs (Saint Hippo is the best!) and the cocktails are super good. Highly recommend!!

This place is great! The drinks are fantastic and the service is excellent. I've been here twice now -- once on the early side when it was quiet and another time, later in the evening when it was busy -- and both times it was delightful. The bartender was charming, knowledgeable and efficient and the crowd was a nice mix of what looked like friendly neighborhood locals. I'll be back.

I came here because I had some time to kill and this was a bar that was open in the area. I didn't know what to think from the Yelp pictures; it almost looked more like a cafe than a bar. But lo and behold, when I actually arrived it was without a doubt a bar. The place was pretty loud and dark. It was fairly crowded when I got here so the service was a bit rushed, though I imagine in less busy times it might be different. The atmosphere was pretty interesting though, very hipstery, in a way that can easily become a guilty pleasure. I got the Dolly Dawn cocktail. It was pretty decent; it tasted great but wasn't very strong. The price reflected this at least and I didn't feel overcharged. I'd come back if I had to kill time in the area but wouldn't go out of my way to come.

Super chill neighborhood bar in Crown Heights. Dropped by with a friend a few weeks ago on a weeknight. We arrived around 8ish and took a couple seats at the bar. All the tables were filled, but it was by no means crowded. House cocktails were a very reasonable $10. I had the La Nortena and the 40 Steps which were both quite good. Bar tenders were super friendly. Decor is simple but tasteful. Loved the laid-back vibe. But as the night wore on, this place got PACKED. And more and more noisy. To the point where having a conversation and adequate space was challenging. Also, there were two people working behind the counter - for the first part of the night that was sufficient, but when the traffic picks up be prepared to wait a little bit. I agree with @Elizabeth C.'s review - great spot if you come with 1 or 2 people, but would refrain from large groups due to lack of seating. Also of note is that this was on a weekday night. Wonder what it looks like on weekends. With that said, still had a great time here. Very homey feel and everyone is nice. Would definitely drop by again, but would do my best to avoid peak hours.

Came here with friends on a random Sunday night and it was awesome. I was fully doing dry January and figured I'd be drinking seltzer water but now they had tasty non-alcoholic drinks. Highly recommend this place

Tried King Tai for the first time this weekend since it opened in our neighborhood. It's a cute space with indoor and outdoor seating. The drink menu has about 5 cocktails but the bar has a wide assortment of sprints. I do wish there were a few more drink options. I got the Dolly Dawn and my husband for the Golden Lady. Both were fairly sweet cocktails with the Golden Lady being a little smokey. The bartender was really nice and quick to help me, always a plus at a bar. The outdoor patio with the view of Nostrand's busy street is perfect for a nice day. I don't remember if they were playing music inside but wish they had a way to play music outside. The ambience is very Brooklyn hipster and honestly not very diverse but still a cool spot in the middle of Crown Heights to grab a drink.

this place is super cute and makes a nice neighborhood bar. they have a round table for a group of 6 and then some smaller tables, the rest of the seating is at the bar. for happy hour, they have 10$ drinks and i think there are just 5 drinks to choose from, but they are all really solid options. I liked the two I had but honestly you should choose as your tastes dictate here. The bartender is great, helpful with making recommendations. They also have empanadas here- beef and cheese- works great as smaller snacks. Definitely recommend this place!

Love love love this place . I always pop by here to get CMarty's Jerk as a treat to myself and the staff is super nice and the place is cute. My go to is the spicy la norteña kinda sweet with a kick at the end. Check them out if your in the crown heights area!

I'm so grateful for King Tai. After Butter & Scotch closed, I wasn't sure where I'd go for a drink. Every night I'd come home from my stupid job without a reliable tipple to soothe my soul. I'm glad I got over my own fear and went to King Tai which has both a varied list and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. (I'd been before, but with big groups of people that I found intimidating!) I'm so grateful for their cocktails and friendly service--thank you for taking such good care of me during the toughest year of my life. I'll love you forever.

King Tai is one of my favorite bars in Crown Heights. Though they have limited seating, especially during COVID, the atmosphere is fantastic. All of the cocktails I've tried are great but the bartenders are always willing to make something for you if your fancy isn't struck with the menu. My favorite part about this place is how easy it is to stop in for a quick night cap, enjoy a nice conversation, and end the night feeling great. Highly recommend!

I want to start by saying that I love this bar. I mean, I really, really like almost everything about it (the only downside that I can think of is that the acoustics are awful and so it gets REALLY LOUD when it's crowded). And the other day I went and there was a boatload of free gourmet cheese and cultured butter. And, it's just . . . well, it's just great all the time. But it's also super weird. Because although it's right in the middle of Crown Heights, I never see any black people there (...well, except for myself, since there are mirrors everywhere). Like, I've only seen another black person there once, ever. And he lives in my building. So it's just a curious thing. And I don't know why it is (and I certainly don't blame the owner, who I've met, and was nothing by lovely). But it's weird. That's all I'm saying.

Easily one of the best local bars in the neighborhood. Beautiful aesthetic, exquisite drinks and friendly staff keep me coming back time and again. If you find yourself in the neighborhood you'd be remiss not to stop by.

I LOVE this place - and also found a cocktail thats a face of mine now. It's called "Lo siento" and it was made by the oh-so-awesome bartender named YO (how cool is that name?). Very cute decor - mostly white with some prints. They have a front, outdoor seating and full bar. I cant wait to visit again and very happy that it's in my neighborhood. thanks Yo!

Nice bartenders. Fun cocktails. Comfortable atmosphere. Good empanadas. I would definitely recommend King Tai. I had the Mero Mero cocktail (with mezcal and tequila) and a cheese empanada. Both cocktail and snack were tasty.

Maybe the shorter female server was having a bad day but she was extremely rude and disrespectful to myself and other customers. She would often ignore and then walk past customers making requests. She also spoke to myself and other customer condescendingly multiple times. Food was fine but service took away from any interest in returning. Good. Luck.

Been here 3 times. Bartender are quite friendly and the atmosphere enjoyable. Favorite drink so far is the queen of corona.

I came here with a friend about 3 weeks ago, on a Thursday. I'd seen this place on Instagram a few times and had also seen it on Brooklyn Magazine's list of Best New Brooklyn Bars of 2015, so I was excited to try it out! We got there at around 8 pm and it was packed and loud. It's a small bar, with maybe 7 seats by the windows at the front, two tables that seat 8 people each, and bar that seats 10 or so. There is also a large circular booth in the back that's good for groups. They also have outdoor seating. The decor is cute and minimal. The walls are white with white exposed brick and some plants hanging on the wall. The chairs are light pink and the booth is green, which makes the space really cute! The bathroom is teal with tiles, giving it a retro vibe. I don't remember what we ordered, but both drinks were really good. I didn't feel like mine had much alcohol in it, but it tasted great! Cocktails are $10. We each also got a glass of white wine, which came in a generous serving. I think they only have one white, one red, and a few types of beer. I'd say King Tai is a great place to come with one or two friends or with a significant other who you've been with for a while. It's not a good place for groups, due to the lack of seating. It's also not a good first date place, or even a second date. The main kind of seating is the communal seating at the tables, and you're sitting way too close to other people. I'm pretty sure we sat next to a girl and guy on maybe their second date, and it was awkward. It's loud, so you're having to half yell everything you say. We heard pretty much everything they said. I'd give the cocktails 4 stars and the decor a 5. The bartender was a bit slow and it took us a while to order our cocktails, but then again, he was the only one working on a busy Thursday night.

I've always wanted to learn other languages, and King Tai compels me to learn them so I can express how much I love this places in different ways. Their drinks are delicious and well made and I've discovered the drink I love most here, a Hamilton Black Sour. From my time going here, the drink list changes roughly every 4 or so months and they never fail to impress with new impressive cocktails at a reasonable price. If the drink list isn't to your liking, I've found there is also a good choice of beers and spirits. The music is loud, the crowd is mature and the aesthetic is visually pleasing. Any day ending in Y is a great day to go here and the only Bar topping this one for me, is Barbados.

Great vibes. I loved the neon light in the window. We drank "a spa day" and that was great. There's a great fried chicken spot next door and your able to bring the fried chicken in. Cool hip vibe but not pretentious everyone was friendly, good music, good amount of space not too crowded. I would 100% go back!

My first time finally going here and oh my god I hated it so much!! That short -kinda Freddie Mercury looking bartender is SO FUCKING NASTY! He acted like we were bothering him when asking simple questions like -what's in this drink? And it took over 15 minutes to pay. When he finally took my card he charged me for all the drinks for everyone in my party, despite the fact my friends had their cards out too. Whatever-fuck that guy and fuck that place. I'm too old for this shit and the cocktails were weak and ill conceived. Will not be back.

Wowwwww can you please put up some tapestries or egg crate foam panels on the ceiling? The acoustics in here are horrible and it's impossible to have a conversation unless you are yelling into the ear of the person next to you. Drinks are good though. Literally all this place needs is some cushions.

I like this bar because even though it's new in a gentrifying neighborhood, you get the impression that everyone is welcome, and everyone hangs here. A $12 cocktail and $2 beer on the menu. It's not that hard to welcome people. $5 rum punch Mondays are a favorite.

King tai is a small neighbourhood bar on the corner of Bergen st and Nostrand ave. They have full bar and nice signature cocktail menu. Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, but they can be lot faster. This bar can be really busy on weekends. Cocktails are strong and not expensive, well liquors and beer is 3/4$, stoli and stoli flavors 5$. Always great atmosphere with relaxed and friendly people.

I'm a fan. The place is cute. Nice decor. I could see meeting up with friends for drinks or sheepishly sipping on cocktails while making googoo eyes on a date. Whatever you like. The bartender was friendly and flexible as we tried to make decisions. The one drawback for me is that they don't serve food but my understanding is that they sometimes have snacks and are otherwise cool with food being brought in if needed. They also played cool music- such an important factor for a bar. Don't expect to come here and dance on the table (I don't think. Lol), but do come to have a few drinks in a cool setting. Check- this place is officially added on my list of go to watering holes.

Loved the south Miami in the 80s vibe going on. Emjoyed their mezcal "spa day" cocktail. Very well mixed. The fried chicken from Chris next door was a nice treat as well!!
