Gyu-Kaku and 110 Grill Open at South Bay Development in Dorchester - Eater Boston

"110 Grill opens on Thursday, July 25, in the South Bay complex. It is part of a fast-growing New England restaurant group with 15 locations in Massachusetts and more in New Hampshire and New York. This is 110 Grill’s first restaurant in Boston proper, spanning 5,800 square feet with seating for 180. Culinary director Elliot Williams influenced the menu, which includes dishes like chorizo totchos, Cajun-style yellowfin tuna, short rib flatbreads, and a kale Brussels sprout salad. Additional entrees include chicken piccata gnocchi and a Beyond burger that can be made vegan. The cocktail menu at 110 Grill rotates with the seasons, and there is a lengthy wine list and selection of local craft beverages and mainstream beers. This location will be open for both lunch and dinner." - Dana Hatic

We have been here 3 times. This time we had baked cod, Thai salmon and another dish. Also got the sorbet and cheese cake dessert. Really good food. Server and host were awesome. Will go back again.

Tomato soup was delicious. Beignets were more like cake balls. Strawberries on the side was a nice touch, but extra powder and chocolate sauce on the side would be better. Our waiter was nice, funny and checked on us regularly. Clean shirt was needed. Uniform shirts should either be a polo or button up. Too casual for my taste. Affordable and overall good, so will be back.

An unexpected Mother’s Day outing with the family turned amazing. Great service for a young waitress, great food that didn’t have any issues and the setting was not overly crowded and accommodated a large party. I’ve been to plenty of these chain locations and I can’t complain about this one!!

Google
Terrible service. They never bring us water if I never request. Also they're always busy and ignore you, we were waiting for server for at least 20 min. When they are running out of asparagus, they didnt inform us but switch to some other dishes without my consent. Food was also disgusting, steak was overcooked even I asked for medium well. Serving size was small but overpriced. Fettuccine is also terrible, you can get way better Italian food from a street vendor. Never recommend!!

Google

The clam chowder is great, lots of clams. My wife had the calamari which was delightful. Both young and mature. Very relaxing atmosphere and music. Aislinn is a wonderful and delightful. Wish her well in her law studies.

This particular location is really good. Shout out to the bartender! My wife loved the sangria.

Google
Absolutely horrible experience. Can't tell you about the food because we were never served. The only thing great about this place was the greet from the young lady that sat us. She was very helpful and sat us a table that allowed us to have more room. As we waited, looking over the menu, we sat there for 10 minutes. The young lady who greeted us at the door had to go tell the person who was supposed to be taking care of us to come over to the table. The young server was just hanging out like not a care in the world. We just left. The only one to apologize was the young lady who greeted us. This was a horrible 1st impression of a place we had heard good things about. Guess we will never find out how good the food could have been.

Yelp
Nice variety in the menu. Gluten free options too. Bartenders are great. Amie goes the extra mile to make sure your drink is just right.

Yelp
Visited the Concord NH location. Not pleased with our experience. Came in person at noon on the 10th, to make a reservation for dinner that same evening to celebrate my daughters birthday. When we arrived the hostess couldn't locate our reservation, after some searching thru a notebook (?) she decided to seat us anyway. We looked at drink menu and ordered drinks, but waitress, Denise, returned awhile later with only my drink and an apology to my daughter that someone had left an old drink menu, handed her a new one and took my daughters order. She asked for the blueberry mojito. It tasted horrible, metallic, reminding me of Thrills chewing gum. We waived it off and ordered the large fig & prosceto flatbread appetizer, and I explained it would be for both of us. It would have been nice if Denise had told us that the large was the size of a medium pizza, as I would have ordered a small. Oh well, at least it was tasty. The flatbread was, however, more like a cracker than bread. We asked for a carafe of pinot grigio with our dinners. I ordered the apricot-shrimp risotto with a half a ceasar salad; my daughter ordered the grilled salmon with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Denise stated that the salmon would be a medium, and was that ok? We said that would be fine. My salad arrived first. It was almost entirely cheese and dressing, with a few bits of romaine lettuce and a couple of croutons. When dinner arrived, my risotto was swimming in cream soup, drowning the risotto and what turned out to be six small shrimp. My daughters salmon was burnt around the edges, as well as completely burned on the underside. Her brussel sprouts were ok, but the mashed potatoes were clearly instant mashed. I was going to send it all back, but my daughter insisted that I not make a scene, as it was her birthday. I ate the few shrimp i had, then sent my risotto back, simply asking Denise to tell the chef about it being soupy. We ordered desserts, beignets and coffee for me, and a chocolate expresso martini for my daughter. The martini was good, but my beignets were raw in the middle, and were much too "cake-like" for beignets...more like donut holes. Denise took them back and returned with another order, which we took home. When we asked for the check we were charged for a lemon sorbet we didn't order. Denise took the receipt back to correct it, and I asked her to bring my notes on the receipt to the chef's attention. Corrected check arrives minus the sorbet, but no comp for anything and no apology from chef. Needless to say, we were not impressed.

Yelp
I have to say although we prepared for a Party of 25+ we had 29 people I'm giving the star review due to some people in our party stating their food was not hot. We sat at a separate table from the party due to some Mix up and we had Bob as our server, he was amazing and very attentive. At our table the food was great it was hot and delicious.

Yelp
I have been to this location a few times in the past and the service was great, there were no issues because Brianna, was welcoming and friendly, Now let's talk drinks and food shall we,the apps were fried pickles and wings the wings ask for well done - The meals there was a steak tip dinner, salmon sasalad and fish and chips plate and they were all ok, my big disappointment was the beignet or shall I call them what they are donut holes.

Yelp
Came here because I was In the area. Parking was great there is an entire parking lot across the street. I was able to park no problem but getting to the lot is not easy. So E times security would help move people along because it is a tight road . I walked into the restaurant and it's ambiance is very calming. The game was on yet it seemed very chill. The server was so sweet she was very attentive. I am a pescatarian and there were a great range of options . I chose the fish tacos and may I say SOOOO YUMMY. Please try if you won't be disappointed!!

Yelp
Food was really yummy. Service slow but looks like they only had 1 guy do everything- he was the hostess, Buser, waiter, bartender, manager. They need help there. Food was quick. We had a Reuben sandwich, signature burger with sweet potato fries, and a classic burger with fries.burgers were delicious.

Yelp
I have eaten here a few times in the past and thought it was decent. My last few visits will be last. One, the bartender they have on all the time now is so aloof. Never says thank you, etc. She looks like she is working at funeral home. I can live with that but I find the food over priced. Spent $21.00 on a Sheppards pie that was like a bowl of soup and the size of my fist. Not even enough food to feed a small ant farm. I am done with this place. Of course the bartender never checked in to see if I was happy with my meal. The place is typically very quiet but yet almost impossible to get decent service.

Yelp
My sister graduated so my mother decided on this restaurant since she's been to another location in Plainville. We originally had a reservation for 1pm but called to get a reservation at 3pm. We arrived on time and was told to wait 15-20 minutes since they weren't for us. We were already sensed that everything was unorganized. The popular drink for our group was strawberry lemonade and it definitely tasted like tap water in a dirty glass. The food is a 0/10 from the salty calamari with a raw lemon to the unseasoned fish and chips. To my still raw margarita flatbread that took 20 minutes to come after everyone else already started eating. We complained to the manager of the restaurant and he made sure we weren't charged for them. I wouldn't recommend until they hire more staff and get an actual cook.

Edward L.

Yelp
On 1/3/25 we went to the destiny usa 110 grill. We sat at the bar and I tried to order an IPA. They had 3 on tap. 2 were empty and one was all foam. I sat there watching my wife drink her wine and I over heard the bartender say she dropped a full bottle of bullet bourbon! As I looked over the bar the broken glass was still there as 3 bartenders walked over it to serve a patron. There was 3 people at the bar and 3 bartenders made no effort to clean it up! Fire the manager an all three bartenders!

Lídia N.

Yelp
just awful! found a bug on my Cesar salad, notified the waitress whom was very apologetic. She then proceeded to tell the manager, he just offered to take out the salad out of the bill and nothing else. A whole BUG was in the salad !!! Manager didn't even apologized nor accommodated to turn the experience around. NEVER AGAIN!!! check your food thoroughly if you choose to eat here.

Yelp
The food was good. The portions and taste were great. I really loved the 110 sangria super tasty! Bob was our server he was awesome! The ambiance is great for a date night or meetup with friends.

Yelp
This dining experience was so bad it was comical. We entered the restaurant and waited nearly ten minutes to be seated. There was no hostess in sight, and several servers made eye contact with us and continued walking. There was no acknowledgment of us waiting. We got to our seat and waited an additional ten minutes to be served. We were not given the waters and sodas we asked for, even after two reminders. When we finally placed our order we were informed that many items on the menu were missing. I asked for an IPA on draft, and the server informed me that only 4 of the 12 drinks listed were available. My partner ordered a Moscow mule and after placing the order, was informed they were out of that drink as well. We asked to nix the drinks order. We finally got our sodas and were informed the restaurant was also out of straws. We finally got our food, and my order was completely wrong. For future reference, it may be helpful to train the servers to repeat the order before submitting them to the kitchen. When I received the bill, I was charged for food, I did not order. This seemed to be a trend, as the family next to me had a similar experience. It is also worth mentioning that the restaurant was not crowded.

Yelp
We ordered the Ribeye Steak, cooked medium with roasted Brussels sprouts and sweet potato fries for the sides. Everything was cooked to perfection. The service was great too!

Yelp
This is by far the worst restaurant I had ever dined in came here for my birthday dinner and not only we couldn't even get water or the right drinks but I asked for surf and turf and only received the stake with no shrimp. Our original server got into a fight with the bartender, the manager never came by for anything and just to 60$ off our bill (the guy can't even manage a check book) the only positive was that our second server really did try and the food came at a reasonable time after she started to wait on us! Overall not a good experience

Yelp
I'm gonna give it the ultimate thumbs down and say we would've had better service and food at Olive Garden or Applebees nearby. No Clam Chowder because kitchen just didn't want to. Server tried to do a decent job but she had too many tables. Didn't bring ketchup with fries. Didn't refill drinks. Didn't come around enough. No personality food blah

Hazel M.

Yelp
Bob was our server. Very good, funny and loyal. We love you bobbbbbbbbb!!! (Mash potatoes did take a while tho but worth the wait)

Greta G.

Yelp
The food was fabulous and the waitstaff was very attentive. We were seated right away and atmosphere was great!

Yelp
The entire menu can be made gluten-free! The service is great, and the restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. Having been gluten free for a few years now, it is difficult enough to find a restaurant with gluten free options. Let alone be able to have an appetizer, entree, and dessert at the same place. LET ALONE have an ENTIRE menu that I can choose from. I wish I wasn't visiting from out of town. I 100% recommend this place to not only gluten free eaters, but everyone.

Anne C.

Yelp
Our server "Steven" was super! Did a great job! We ordered lobster roll with large amount of lobster was well worth it! We also had clam chowder that was full of clams and the taste was delicious. My husband had a super burger which was delicious also. Very happy with our meal. Sorry forgot to take pics!
google avatar

Amaziah A.

Yelp
The service was excellent. The ambiance was ok, and so was the food. I ordered the Chicken Piccata Gnocchi and I would get that again. The calamari was ok.

Megan C.

Yelp
I have been in town for 3 days. 2 of my meals have been from 110 Grill. I have celiac disease and my steak salad had gluten cross-contamination. For todays order I got the Fig and Proscuitto pizza. It was undercooked, no arugula, crust is competely uneven. There were 4 pieces all on top of each other in the box. The sweet potato fries were soggy.

Yelp
food was okay. service was friendly. my ravioli were chewy. not my favorite, but not the worst. But!!! $31 for 4 gummy ravioli and a few nubs of chicken were NOT worth the price. i ate one gummy ravioli.

Ki A.

Yelp
Went here with my niece after taking her shopping and we were seated right away. Our server "Bob" (Robert) was courteous and made sure we had everything we needed & the food and ambiance was great . I'd go here again for sure !

Lois C.

Yelp
I simply loved Bobs service he was personable and polite with a nice sense of humor! He paid special attention to my friends food allergies and I feel strongly that he's a keeper!!!!

Tom D.

Yelp
We stopped in for lunch today - seated right away -great service by Bobby - ordered the clam chowder and the cheese & steak sandwich with sweet potatoes fries - the cheese steak was the best I ever had - we are going back for dinner !

Sarah R.

Yelp
My food was delicious and me server Bobby was amazing! My daughter and I were having a mommy and me day and he took the time to ask her about her day and school. We'll be back!!

Yelp
I received a gift card shortly after this review. Doesn't make it right but sure glad they care to fix an issue even for a small order like this one. Good job.

Troy V.

Yelp
I ordered the shrimp scampi and it was absolutely delicious! My server Robert was amazing and pointed me to other restaurants that were equivalent to this one and also a couple of cool areas for me to checkout. The atmosphere was also nice, very relaxed. Highly recommended restaurant.

Yelp
We arrived at 840pm. The door states open until 1130, but we were told kitchen closes in 20, so we ordered a few beers, taps were frozen so not much to choose from. We asked a couple of questions for the ones that were available. The bartender didn't know and didn't offer a tasting. Staff was just rushing around to clean and paid zero attention to the few customers in the restaurant. We won't be back.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday night to the bar around 7:45. We waited for 20 minutes before someone asked us what we wanted. During that time, we saw the one bartender tend to only 3 out of the 10-12 people at the bar. This group of 3 was loud and obnoxious. When I looked around the restaurant, it was clear that this obnoxious group was interrupting everyone's night. They were so loud that we could hear them from the other side of the restaurant when we went to the bathroom. I understand that when you go out you want to have a good time, but they were belligerently drunk and definitely over served. Everyone else at the bar was waiting with empty drinks. We ended up leaving after 40 minutes total because we got a table somewhere else. We also never got our drinks. I would have understood if it was packed but the one bartender wasn't attending to ANY other group of people other than to hand people bills. Terrible experience.
google avatar

Madison S.

Yelp
Went to grab some drinks and apps at the bar and it was great. We were able to sit at the bar right away and got our drinks really quick. I got a spicy marg and my fiancé got a dirty martini. They gave him 4 olives which is extra credit in my eyes. Both drinks were delicious and then we got the wedge and fig pizza to split. I am a vegetarian so I asked for no bacon on the wedge and they were very accommodating. Was a great time and perfect for some casual drinks and apps.

Yelp
Loved it. Somehow found this GF restaurant on IG and have been excited to come here since I knew I had a visit to Boston. Didn't disappoint. It was so nice to feel completely comfortable (GF-wise) in a restaurant atmosphere again. We don't have that where I live. I tried the Cuban which was delicious and the BBQ nachos which were also so good (their sauces were great!) So good we made another visit to a different location while on our trip! Will definitely stop back here again on my next visit.
google avatar

Heather C.

Yelp
My husband has a gluten allergy and this is one of the only restaurant chains that doesn't make him sick. We are thankful to have an option!! He says the food is amazing! I'm so glad he gets to have the experience of eating at a restaurant again. To me, the food is okay. I haven't been mind blown the way he has, but again IM SO THANKFUL he has a whole menu to choose from.

Yelp
Probably the worst service I ever had, save your money What a joke. Came here with my wife before our movie for something to eat and drink. First impression was really nice from the bartender as she greeted us and handed us menus at the bar. But all went downhill from there. After she walked away we waited about a half hour before we were asked what we wanted to drink and eat. As we put our order in, the bartender comes back 10 minutes later asking us what did we order again with a pen and pad in her hand lol. We both have our orders again for food and drinks. Food: The calimari was decent but not close to Asian style more like frozen from the box with sweet chili on the side. The BBQ maple chicken wings were decent but a bit overpriced. I also ordered a side of brussel sprouts that never came but managed to make it way on my bill. I explained this to the bartender and it was removed. Drinks. I ordered a Manhattan that was strong but mediocre in taste and wasn't a full proper fill. My wife ordered the Paloma that basically tasted like sour mix on the rocks and was missing grapefruit. We explained this to the bartender and she remade the drink stating that they must of changed the menu . So second paloma comes and pretty much taste the same and at this point we give up lol. Before the food came we asked for silverware which we never got. We seen the manager and asked for silverware and also never got any. I literally had to go to a empty table and snatch the silverware myself . At the end of the day I'm giving one star and that just for the food being ok but the service was zero stars. Do better, train your staff because this is not it.

Michael B.

Yelp
110 Grill wouldn't be my first choice but I had a nice dinner with my family there. The server was attentive and the restaurant was clean and welcoming.

Yelp
Being gluten free and traveling isn't always easy or enjoyable. In fact, it can be quite frustrating and stressful at times. 110 grill hit it out of the park! From the minute we walked in and were asked if we needed a gluten free menu (without us having to ask!) To the wonderful service and marking of the food with allergen skewers. I got fried pickles (gluten free) and a hot honey chicken sandwich with onion strings (gluten free). The chicken was crispy and delicious with the right amount of hot honey. The fried pickles and onion strings were fried to perfection. The gluten free menu is two full pages, which was unexpected! Most places give you a few choices, not this place!

Alycia T.

Yelp
I sat at the bar; I don't remember the bartender's name but he was very attentive and made me a great drink. The food was better than I was expecting. I had the fish tacos and they were delicious! I went on a Tuesday afternoon/evening so it was quiet. Overall it was a good experience!

Yelp
Been to different locations of this establishment; almost always had a great experience. Disappointed to say this is not somewhere I'd look forward to returning any time soon. Walked in one weeknight around 6/6:30pm. There were people but not too packed. Our request to sit a bit further away from others was adequately fulfilled. The waitress came to introduce herself, and things went downhill from there. My dining partner asked about a dish she actually got from the same place a few months ago, and I remember seeing similarly on the menu way back when. But instead of saying "I'm not sure, but maybe we no longer offer it", the waitress left us with a drab "Never heard of it" comment as if to put an end to our inquiry. Ok so maybe you are new? And possibly inexperienced in customer service? Food and drinks were ordered. Waitress returned a bit later and ASKED if we needed anything, while our water glasses were near empty. So we told her, and she brought more water. Management really needs to work on training their staff. Appetizer - Asian calamari ~$15 - was prepared nicely, though the only "Asian" thing about it is the Thai sweet and sour dipping sauce. Not bad for a dish, just slightly gimmicky. My main was the $30 steak with chimichurri. I've had it once or twice prior to the pandemic (at another location), and back then it was wayyyy good, my mouth still waters thinking about it. Another friend had warned me against it recently, saying it wasn't the same anymore, especially the sauce wasn't chimichurri at all. I believed her, but I really needed to see for myself, so I ordered it anyway. Friend was right, this plate was nothing like what I had. Whatever meager amount of sauce there was, definitely did not resemble anything chimichurri. Zero herb taste, zero yum. The steak, while cooked to my desired doneness, used to be a full strip of tips or hanger, now I get a handful of sliced beef. I used to have to pack about at least half the fries left, this time I finished the entire thing (including the fries, which was quite salty) while feeling like I had room for dessert -- except I no longer wanted to order more from here. Here's the kicker: my dining partner's House burger -- menu says comes with the usual fixings like lettuce, tomato, what not. Waitress brought her burger as if it came out of McDonald's assembly line (ie. flat and insubstantial), then asked (or did my friend have to flag her down to ask? ) if she wanted the fixings. Friend wondered whether those should be included; waitress said no but could bring them if she wanted. Um, ... huh?? We had to consult the online menu mid-meal to make sure we weren't seeing things -- they WERE included. The whole exchange is so weird. Is the restaurant instructing their staff to handle things this way to avoid waste and/or unneeded expenses? That's fine too, you know, I'm all for preventing waste. But shouldn't this be asked while the order was placed, not something to "argue over" post-delivery? Imagine this was a takeout order, we'd paid $18 for bun and patty without knowing what we did wrong. In all, quite disappointed for the meal and dining experience. A total meh, 2.5-star kind of deal, and definitely have had better, even within the 110 Grill group.

Emily A.

Yelp
The 110 grill has wonderful service, we were seated immediately and welcomed warmly. We loved our server he was very friendly and accommodating. He informed us that a large portion of the menu could be made gluten free which was amazing because someone in my party needed to eat gluten free and there were a ton of great options. The food was delicious overall and I think my family and I have found a new favorite restaurant :) Thank you 110 Grill for a wonderful dinner this evening!

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch the other day. Server was very helpful and recommended a dish he enjoyed. Food was good, locally brewed IPA was good, and service was quick! The trifecta! 4-Stars vs 5 based on the limited menu options.

George P.

Yelp
I've been to the Nashua NH twice. Borh times there children taking up seats at the bar. Why does the manager allow this? This should never happe. They should lose their liquor license if this continue.

Yelp
110 was an absolute hit, and I'm so glad we stopped in here to eat. We were catching a movie next store and I was hungry, so we briefly looked at the menu i and decided to give this place a go. First of all they make all their food fresh and the kitchen is wide open so you can see your food and everyone else's being made, and all fresh ingredients. From the greeters to the servers to the cooks to the management, everyone was very pleasant and kind and attentive. They work in teams here and help out, it's not just 1 server struggling on their own, everyone comes to check on you which was great. I got the 110 Cuban and it was amazing. A regular Cuban but it was flavored so well, and it was just really good. I love going places that have a great aura about them, amazing service and even better food. I also found out there's one in Rhode Island closer to me, so I will check that one out next. Love it! For sure give it a try if you haven't. They have a nice selection of drinks and food.

Yelp
Carolina at the bar was fabulous! Customer focused and very good at her job. Enjoyed our meal very much and the bar service. We always love the 110 Grill.

Yelp
If you want a really good meatloaf... look no further! Oh my god, the seasoning is unreal. I like the onion strings on top, the sauce on top of the onion strings was a little too strong for me so I'll just ask for without the sauce next time. The garlic mashed potatoes were to die for as well. Broccoli was okay, nothing really special about it, not a lot of taste or seasoning. Overall though, would come back for sure!

Benita R.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere was great. Everything took a left turn when the bar patrons were in exchange of conversation about n-word. I was in complete disbelief this was happening with the bartender standing there and not saying a word. When the bill came I asked to speak to the manager. The manager apologized profusely, stated that was not his view of people of color, then stated the bar patrons had just came from a funeral and may have had too much to drink along with emotions. If that is the case why would the restaurant risk liability of the individuals should something occur. Also the manager mentioned one of the bar patrons was a childhood friend and shocked by the behavior? Seriously the behavior didn't happen overnight. When I was leaving with my father the manager comes over to ask if he could compensate us with deserts or cocktails. We politely said no and left. What fool would accept a cocktail or additional food from an establishment that supports racism, discrimination, disrespect, and acknowledged that his friends were completely out of line but yet they still stayed in 110 Grill. am utterly disgusted with the display of actions from 110 Grill. If anyone ever asks me about 110 Grill please believe my review will not be favorable. I don't need to spend $120 on an early dinner to be completely disrespected. I need for your company to understand the power of the minority funds, it's stronger than most think. I have friends of all shades of color including the Caucasian race. This was a slap in my face that will never happen again.
