The Best Restaurants In New Haven

"116 Crown is New Haven's best bar, thanks to the killer cocktails, truffle fries, charcuterie, and a pleasant atmosphere. The cocktail menu is organized by flavor profile, so whether you’re feeling “Aromatic & Subtle” or “Bracing & Bold” you’ll find something that suits you. One standout is the Forth & Clyde, a combination of gin, St. Germain, bourbon, honey, lime, and chili flakes that goes down way too easily." - anne cruz, team infatuation

Google
Beautiful dinning room and bar. We had a wonderful dinner with an extremely attentive server. She made suggestions for drinks , dinner and drinks. For apps we had the octopus, gazpacho, oysters and the Mediterranean salad. All excellent Lobster rolls, salmon and the surf and turf for dinner. As pretty as it was delicious. After dinner we went out to patio which was absolutely lovely!

Google
Thoughtful flavors, elegant presentation, excellent service, and lively ambiance. We went here for our anniversary, and it didn't disappoint. Perhaps the best chicken I have ever had; the morel sauce was perfect. Cocktails were also great. The only things I'd change are the steep prices (thankfully apps are half off on Thursdays) and the noise level. We were seated across from a large party who definitely brought the bar vibe. Place looked a lot more placid on Saturday night. Thinking it was the Cinco De Mayo crowd.

Google
Nice spot for drinks, their Japanese old-fashioned is different! Purists may not approve but I was curious. Visited them once while on the way back from a race in Charlemont, MA. We were lucky to be seated at a high top without a wait around 5pm before it became too busy. Service was friendly and helpful. Aside from the Japanese old fashioned, we tried their truffle fries which came in a big serving size. Bathrooms looked nice with just 1 oddity being the seat wouldn’t seem to stay up on the toilet which led to, presumably, the prior male occupant having difficulties aiming 😂

Google
A unique modern vibe, we sat outside in an igloo and enjoyed tastefully prepared menu items. Margherita Pizza, Beef tartare, oysters, charcuterie, duck confit, venison osso bucco, salmon and lobster ravioli. Nice cocktail list as well. Knowledgeable attentive staff too good care of us. All the best for 116 Crown

Google
BEST place for drinks & bites in New Haven! One of the original “cool” places to be seen. Make sure to try the “Lauren’s driving home” 🍸

Google
Really surprised this is considered “premium” cocktails by any stretch of the imagination. Very basic, & very overpriced. No complexity! I was super disappointed. $14 & $21 for drinks that tasted like kool aid. Hate to be harsh but I’m happy to pay when it’s worth it, not so much when it’s not! We tried the tavern near modern pizza & worlds better & better prices! Server was great though & enjoyed the ambience.

Google
Great cocktails. Make sure to try the truffle fries. A little overpriced but altogether a great place in New Haven to have a chill night out with friends. Service, however, is a little slow, even when the bar is not crowded - we ended up waiting over 45 minutes for the bill and had to ask multiple times. On another occasion, we waited over an hour for the truffle fries.

Google
Happened upon 116 Crown while walking about in New Haven tonight! This place had an extensive, unique drink menu that my husband was impressed by. The bartenders were very creative with their drink preparation and presentation and the one drink was even served with a little fire for effect. To add to the theme we ordered the s’mores which we prepared at the table with house made marshmallows. Definitely a fun idea. The ambiance was very cool and inviting and the staff was friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend stopping in!

Yelp
I can't speak to the normal food menu, but I came for all-night happy hour on Thursday, and it was awesome. The truffle fries are a perfect replica of McDonald's fries, with a healthy dose of Parmesan and truffle oil. The cocktail list is extensive, but I would trust Elliot with whatever he says you'll enjoy. The prices are pretty high for the area, but you'll get your money's worth with the drinks. I had the pisco sour and the dragon punch, and both were delicious.

Yelp
Reserved a table for a large group of about 10 people for a small get together. The ambience was nice and moody, but the acoustics were poor and it was at times difficult to hear others at the same table. The drinks were good but very pricey. We ordered some plates to share and we all enjoyed the the food - the highlights for me were the truffle fries and margarita pizza. I was disappointed by the service - we were seated promptly by the hostess but a server did not check in on us at all for more than 45mins after we were seated. We decided to order drinks at the bar and let the bartenders know that we were at a table but didn't have a server. Shortly afterwards, our waitress stopped by.

Yelp
116 Crown, nestled in downtown New Haven, exudes a vibe that is both modern and inviting, with an ambiance that's more suited to a chic lounge than a traditional bar. However, the experience is marred by service that lacks warmth and a menu that, while adequate, doesn't quite live up to the hype surrounding the establishment. During my visit, I had a couple of their signature cocktails. While they were well-presented, the flavors didn't quite hit the mark. The drinks, though unique in names and presentation, lacked the depth and inventiveness that one might expect from a bar of its repute. This was slightly disappointing, considering the potential shown in the ambiance and setting. The food menu, albeit creative in concept, also fell short of expectations. I tried their small plates, which included an interesting selection of items. However, none of them stood out as particularly memorable. They were well-prepared but didn't leave a lasting impression, especially when compared to other culinary experiences in the area. The service, unfortunately, added to the sense of underwhelment. The staff, while not overtly rude, didn't exude the warmth or welcoming vibe one would expect from a place like 116 Crown. This aspect of the experience further detracted from the overall enjoyment of the evening. In conclusion, while 116 Crown has the makings of a great spot with its stylish decor and potential for great cocktails and dishes, it falls short in execution and service. It's a place I might consider revisiting if I heard of improvements, but for now, it remains an establishment that doesn't fully live up to its promise.

Yelp
The mocktail menu here is the best! Highly recommended. The food is also delicious. Make sure to book a reservation, they are usually busy during dinner time.

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't already been said about 116? While I was there I looked back at my pre-birthday visit from 2015, and Restaurant Week from that same year, I I remembered how many memories I had made there. How many St. Patrick's Sundays I spent with half priced wine and watching parade goers walk by, how many celebrations, birthday and otherwise. My camera roll is peppered with good food and good memories. I enjoy a consistent restaurant who remembers me before now and treats me and who I come with with attention and respect. I've reached a different point in my life and 116 has definitely kept step with that. I look forward to more memories and more seasonal menu, garden to table from the first New Haven restaurant to ever do it.

Yelp
Great food, great drinks, and a fabulous staff. I am here every week. It's a great place to hang out, especially in the domes

Yelp
I've been to 116 Crown two times - both times, I had great cocktails. The staff are also very nice. The food is also very tasty but probably a tad overpriced. They have very nice bar seating. Most tables are for smaller groups (2-4) with maybe only two tables for larger groups. Would recommend for a classy date night or a fun celebration

Yelp
Never expected to encounter $20 cocktails in New Haven. Hip place, but the vibe is a little off (e.g. as far as I could tell, the bathrooms weren't labeled as such, so I walked into a hall closet first :| ). The menu was almost impossible to read on the phone, luckily they were able to rustle up some paper menus for us. Some deranged capitalization going on across the whole menu. Cocktails - seems like everything was coming in a martini glass...the worst of the drinkware options. We got: * Fourth and Clyde (gin AND bourbon, elderflower liqueur, honey, lime juice) - mostly tasted like gin and lime juice - $19 * Mediterranean Margarita - more or less just tasted like a margarita - $21 Food - everything pretty pricey. We got * Nachos - What appeared to be store-bought tortilla chips, but a very good cheese sauce, chicken, and pickled jalapenos - $21, pretty enjoyable * Grilled half chicken - served on a bed of pasta with a few small pieces of carrot, mushroom, and pearled onions. Came in a good creamy sauce. Didn't appear to be grilled but I'm no expert... I can't say we really got anything that would convince us to come back, particularly at these prices.

Yelp
Parking: very good, lot right across the street $10 all night Inside: very nice, modern but funky...in a good way. Stylish. Food: 1 page menu with some nice options to choose from. Preparation of the food is what cost one star. Salmon was over cooked and staff didn't ask how I'd like it prepared. Pasta was fresh but served so hot that we could barely eat it for 10 minutes. Baratta was excellent. Price: moderate but not too bad, apps and dinner. Staff: was friendly and nice though every question about the menu had to be checked with the kitchen, even sauce on the side. (She May have been new) Overall: I would go back for happy hour and appetizers but probably eat dinner somewhere else.

Yelp
Stopped by 116 Crown for a group happy hour at the bar, and I had a great time. 116 is an upscale bar/restaurant in downtown New Haven. They have space for groups, but their alcoves and seating arrangements are really best for date nights and more intimate gatherings. If you're looking to hide this is your spot! I enjoyed their wine and service. The bartenders where incredibly attentive for a 3/4 hour group of 10-20 of us coming in and out. We enjoyed bottles of Pinot Grigio and a delicious Tempranillo. Great people watching as well.

Yelp
Ok imma make this short and sweet ‍ This place is the absolute best spot to get craft cocktails in New Haven County ‍

Yelp
Overall, it was very mediocre. The food wasn't horrible but considering how expensive it is, it is definitely not worth coming back. I would pass on getting food here. The truffle fries were good, but the truffle flavor was really only present on the top fries. The fries were definitely good though. The pasta was ok. It tasted much worse than it looks. It was not very flavorful and I highly doubt it was very fresh. It did not taste like fresh pasta since it was quite dry. I would not get the pasta. The cocktail was good. It had apple cider foam on top so it was definitely an interesting drink. If you had to come here, definitely just get drinks. Skip the food. The outside dining is nice but it felt incredibly unsafe. There was no social distancing and the tables were placed way too close together. There were far too many people in a small area and people weren't wearing masks and kept walking around. This is not a COVID friendly place in my opinion. It was very pretty though. Considering how mediocre the food was, how expensive it was (~60 for the 3 items in the picture), and how unsafe it was, I would not come back.

Yelp
This restaurant is a little overrated but the food is good and Lindsey, our server, made our night. We were going to leave after drinks but ended up staying for steak and it was excellent.

Yelp
It really bums me out to be writing this review because I was excited for this place, but tonight was a $60 meal that was totally wasted. We visited on a Friday night with a local event happening. We anticipated it being busy, however what we experienced was more than a Friday night rush. We sat outside. It was a bit chilly but we were down (me more so than my partner). When we got to the outside space it had heat lamps, but half of them were off and seemingly broken. Multiple people tried to turn them on including staff to no avail. Once seated, we waited over 20 minutes to order drinks, let alone food. The hostess was the one who came back and asked if we ordered before we got to order. We ordered food and a coke promptly. Food came in a normal span of time after that, but there was no napkins and only forks. A server mentioned the dishwasher must be as busy as the rest of them. The truffle fries were good but for $3 to add truffle oil id like to taste it on all the fries not just the top layer and half our container was lukewarm to cold. For food, we had the risotto from the summer menu and the carbonara. My partner didn't eat the risotto at all. He said, "That despite having a lot of ingredients managed to be flavorless. It had a level of spice that wasn't clear on the menu and brought nothing to the dish." The chicken meatballs were incredibly dull and dry. My pasta was okay, it tasted like a hamburger helper meal, essentially. None of the flavorful details on the menu seemed prevalent in the dish. The pasta was incredibly soft and over cooked. After eating, what we did eat, we waited another half hour to get the check. We never got the coke we ordered, though the server did ask about it when the bill came. The only employee who seemed genuinely concerned with our experience was the food runner from the kitchen. She was apologetic and clearly overwhelmed. No one else said anything that explained the situation or tried to connect with us about it or anything really. Even if service had been incredible, the food was so underwhelming for the price tag especially and the over the top lag on service just put it over the edge. I don't want to go back.

Yelp
Stopped in here with some friends for some drinks. Walking in felt like walking into a very upscale bar in NY! Katie immediately greeted me and was helping me pick out what to drink. As a new lover of bourbon, she told me to try out a Jolly Roger! The first sip of this drink is something like never before. A little spice made it perfect - definitely will be my new go to drink where they have it. Unfortunately got here after the kitchen had closed, so wasn't able to check out the food and see if that was a 10/10 like the drinks! Elliot, the other bartender was also very helpful and attentive when I had asked for drink suggestions. As a bartender myself, when people ask for suggestions, I never really know what the customer is looking for, but they sure do!

Yelp
When you're feeling fancy try the glitterati. The outdoor patio is particularly nice in summer. This is not for the faint of wallet but you get what you pay for.

Yelp
High quality drinks. A little expensive but great for a special occasion or night out.

Yelp
Food: Came here twice in the past month. Once on a romantic date and once with a group of seven people. At the date, the cocktails and cheeseboard were sublime, but the entrees of margherita pizza and nachos were largely underwhelming. On the second occasion, different menu selections were made and we thoroughly enjoyed the eggplant risotto, pasta carbonara, salmon, and burger. All were flavorful and cooked to perfection. Ambience: Beautifully decorated with lights and artwork. A perfect spot for a romantic date. Service: The servers were very attentive and readily accommodated our large group at every turn. Gracious and hard-working. Items to try: Churchkey cocktail, any of the cheeseboards, eggplant risotto

Yelp
Cocktails are amazing. It's hard to find a well made balanced cocktail and the list is always a mix of classic and fresh drinks. I never really have had a full meal here but the appetizers and small plates are great for sharing while enjoying time with friends.

Yelp
I will start off by saying the food was great however my experience was not super great. I was not happy with the treatment and the vibe of the night. I traveled 2 hours and only 2 of the staff were very welcoming. I am a woman of color and two families walked in and within each family, one of them would stare at myself and the person I was with as if we did not belong there. Our server was just "okay" he was not rude but deff was not welcoming; we were supposed to receive a dessert after our meal and he did not offer it to us. I gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking he forgot and by the time I realized, it was too late. The reason why I am mentioning that is because he was in top of serving us our meals prior to that. The place is beautiful but I will never go back, we felt like outsiders and the message was very clear.

Yelp
Update; Got a note from the owner who sincerely apologized and explained the challenges that occurred that night. I appreciate the follow up and hope the place does great. Epitome of bad. Apathetic, overwhelming staff. Food included like warm "soup" that was water, lettuce & beans. 90 minute wait (not exaggerating) to get 2 of the 4 entres ordered...and they were cold. First time in my life I have ever seen customers getting up to warn new customers to leave before they experienced the horror. Wow. Simply

Dylan L.

Yelp
We only stopped for cocktails, but the food looked amazing too. We had : The Martini, Fresh Start, Corpse Reviver #4, and Aviation. All phenomenal, staff was incredibly helpful and attentive as well. Highly recommend

Yelp
I went to 116 Crown on a quiet Thursday evening. I have been here before, on a few occasions. The restaurant is dimly lit to show off the romantic appeal of the white glass bar top which is eliminated from below reminding me of an artist sketching their cocktails on a beautiful canvas. The ceiling of swirling clouds is a beauty to behold all its own, adding to the mysterious characteristics of the restaurant. When the weather is favorable, one may step outside to their back patio which transcends guests to a quiet and private environment of floating white lights and simple long wooden tables for a truly serene and communal experience. 116 Crown is known for being hip, but its known for its intricate and well-developed cocktail program. If you become overwhelmed by the variety and size of their available libations, simply ask one of the bartenders and they can steer you in the right direction. If not classic cocktails, they offer multitudes of cocktails they have crafted to be interesting, balanced, and very palatable. The food is always fresh and delicious. I had the privilege of sampling their happy hour octopus tacos, which are large in portion and delectable in nature. For all of you that know, octopus can be a difficult specimen to prepare. The texture was similar to that of pork belly - juicy, succulent, and rich. I would highly recommend 116 Crown to any a restaurant-goer. Whether you're skilled in the craft or going for the experience, its a great place to take friends from out of town or have an intimate meeting.

Meghan H.

Yelp
I don't quite have the words to describe this horrific experience. Never have I been to a restaurant and had an experience quite like the one I had at 116. I could write an essay but I'll just leave some major "highlights" below.. - mediocre food AT BEST - told they could make us espresso martinis & in the very next breath, changed his mind and said they don't make them & THEN brought them to us 10 minutes later - we simply questioned appropriate pricing of martinis ($19 each) and were told a manager would come over. We waited 20 minutes and even left the table and moved to the empty bar hoping someone would notice us- still no one. A total of 35 mins later an owner (Danielle) & waiter wandered over. Waiter pretended like he didn't know why we were waiting. After asking Danielle if prices were accurate her responses included "well I doubt you've ever had a true espresso martini", We were instantly met with hostility and antagonistic remarks when all we asked is if the bill was correct.

Yelp
On a Thursday evening, after attending a career event at the Lawn Club with some of my ladies, we decided to go to 116 Crown for a bite and some conversation. We were seated in the "tea room" (aka Batcave), which I found intimate and delightful. Some of the ladies ordered cocktails and the group ordered the Mirtillo pizza and the artichoke dip to share. All in all, the food was good and the service was adequate. It turned out to be a great night with the loveliest of friends. Recommendations: -Tea room for groups Verdict: Will return

Yelp
Overrated. Overpriced and Overdone. We were visiting from NYC And Boston. The cocktail list looked very intriguing. A party of 7 ordered different cocktails, for 15$ - 20$ you'd expect something exquisite .To our dismay the cocktail were nothing but mediocre. They did have something called the devilish drink which was supposed to be a bartender specia bitter and bourbon. WRONG. Getting to the food. I've always had the impression of a restaurant, if you screw up a burger you really are good for nothing. My burger was CHARRED super small and served with a huge bun and some crappy cheese. The avocado fries were atrocious. The other folks had the pasta and were disappointed as well. The pizza and 'fries' were the only edible things last night. Ambience was really good to say the least but the experience was really below ordinary. We had a table next to us, with the folks all tipsy and howling away shaming and gossipin about someone, we Complained, the server and management did nothing. It felt like we were at a sports bar. Guess it was the last time for us. The reviews are really good for the place on Yelp. I'm hoping it ws just a bad day. This place just left a hole in my pocket and a bad taste in my mouth

Joseph Z.

Yelp
116 Crown has the best cocktails, Forth n Clyde is my favorite! Great atmosphere, love the decor and food is great too.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
If it weren't for the high prices, 116 Crown would be the only place I frequent for drinks and cheese. The decor is stylish and understated, and the lighting is really well done. Generally, it doesn't get too loud, and the booths that they have are very nice for parties of 4 or smaller. Can't say enough good things about the cheese plate here -- the only negative is that the serving sizes seem to be slowly but markedly decreasing... For around $20, you can get a selection of 3 cheeses or charcuterie, served with grapes, herb butter, bread, and fruit preserves. Of the cheeses available, the ricotta and the Quadrello di Bufala have been my favorites. I personally enjoy charcuterie less, but even so the Saucisson Rouge was pretty good on top of the fresh bread + pesto. Cocktails here are strong and fresh. I enjoyed the margarita during happy hour, as well as the Four Thieves. Their non-alcoholic sodas are refreshing and non-boring as well, which is nice to have as an option.

Yelp
Went here for a nice dinner on Valentine's Day weekend. Was super excited, loved the vibe and our table was perfect. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. However they were out of almost everything on the food menu, which was small to begin with. Overall what we ordered to eat was decent but overpriced. Drinks were amazing though

Michael R.

Yelp
Throw the whole restaurant away. We had 7:15 reservations, did not receive our food until 8:30. Our server was overwhelmed, we had to track him down to place or food order.. Once food arrived we immediately asked for the check. The drink menu was garbage, I Asked for a tequila with pineapple and they were out of pineapple. How does a bar not have pineapple. The food menu was garbage, the burger was over cooked. NEVER AGAIN..... NEVER
google avatar

Darcy W.

Yelp
Honestly, this place is unique and down right cool. Different areas to sit from the bar area, to cozy little booths, to a hidden room. The drink menu is completely unique! The bartenders are true mixologists, and the presentation is beautiful! They use different spices in the cocktails. The bird pepper was the bomb! Seriously we had to google it too... I honestly would recommend this spot to anyone! Cheers!

Lauren J.

Yelp
I wish they treated their cheese with a little more love...... it was dry and old. && sadly it showed... There was a few pesky fly's in here. Annoying. My friend recommended this place because she loves their food. && this was my first time. Sadly she was just as disappointed in the quality of the food as I was!!! It wasn't too busy for a Saturday night, and the service was attentive but not great. Not returning. T
google avatar

Olivia L.

Yelp
I love 116 crown's garden, and I'd nominate their pizza for one of the best of the 'Have (blasphemy, I know!). A friend had a birthday party in one of their private alcoves, and the vibes in there were great.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm so freaking excited to have had the opportunity to check out this spot. Sure, some of the drinks are a little pricey - like, prices that rival NYC's - but there are tons to choose from. You can find something cheaper and be perfectly satisfied. The cocktail menu includes the classics and some originals. I like that they seemed well versed in both lighter and darker liquors instead of featuring just one type of cocktail base. 1/2 price bottles on Sundays is quite a steal. And keep in mind, you can take unfinished wine bottles home. Our waitress was great at steering us toward a wine that we might not have originally picked. Ok, and can I talk about the cheese plate? I'd give the cheese plate 6 stars if I could. I love the rustic platter and stands that the cheese comes on. They do not skimp on portions here. The cheese was stacked high upon the wood pedestals. The presentation also included some bread, chutney, and grapes. Jazz music played throughout the evening. They have some branches that give it a decorative yet not over-the-top feel. Dare I say this is my favorite late night spot in New Haven?
google avatar

Deb E.

Yelp
Very slick upscale modern minimalist style - the booth cubbys gave me a bit of a clockwork orange vibe. Long table that connects to the bar is a lit from below onyx slab that you can sit on both sides on - great for couples or groups. We were given a menu of drinks - my bourbon & whiskey friends were well represented and thrilled with their options. I am more of a gin gal so had to read though a few times and settled on the glitterati which was lovely but next time I will try the Aviator or the Gray Lady. The mixologist did come and try to help me pick. He was very knowledgeable about spirits. We didn't eat but may next time since the bar snacks looked yummy. Would definitely return with my SO to have a drink after dinner in town. So I have one issue - you have a beautiful space, thoughtful lighting design, gorgeous looking cocktails but the whole thing is cheapened by... basic doilies? Really? If you guys are charging $15 a cocktail please get doilies that match the vibe of the place - maybe even custom doilies without lace that clashes completely with the carefully curated atmosphere. I was so annoyed by the doily my pal took one home to bother me with at a later date.
google avatar

Thomas D.

Yelp
Cocktails here were great! So many different options - we tried four different cocktails and they were all spot on - well balanced, creative and tasted great. Great ambience - low light and intimate. The waiter could have been a little more polished but was very nice.

Yelp
Superb bar, great patio on the back of the building, it was THE place to pursue our evening with good friends. The cocktail list is very creative and the service was way above what you usually get in this kind of place. Looking forward to trying another cocktail there.

Yelp
The food can range anywhere from acceptable (truffle fries) to noteworthy in town (the eggplant risotto, I've had it three times). The various drinks are top notch, probably as good as Ordinary (a couple blocks away). The happy hour is appropriate (more truffle fries, more drinks). I just feel like the prices are a bit high. Places in town where I rack up a similar bill: Shell and Bones, L'Orcio, Olea. Places with smaller bills: Barcelona, Skappo, Mezcal. See what I mean? I leave any of those places and I think, "Damn, that was 100% worth it." At 116, I'm less thrilled. The ambiance is nice, great first date place, but I'm not sure the environment makes up for the bill. The happy hour is a good attempt. Then again, this place is usually packed on weekend evenings, so maybe it's priced appropriately? I dunno, but that risotto has me coming back...

Yelp
The ambiance and drinks were great but food left much to be desired. My boyfriend and I were in New Haven for a quick getaway last weekend and got cocktails and dinner here. We ordered a charcuterie board which was decent, and two NY strip steaks. I ordered my steak medium well but it was brought to me medium and remained such even after I asked for it to be sent back and cooked longer. The food was overpriced even compared to NYC standards and quality wasn't the best for a nearly $200 bill. Definitely come for the cocktails and try the Four Thieves, refreshing and delicious!

Yelp
The truffle fries are good, and the outdoor space is lovely in good weather. The steak lacked flavor and seasoning; just alright.

Yelp
I'm really feeling the vibes in this place. It's a bit noisy but there's nothing like being surrounded by people who are hanging out and having a good ol time. Nice spot to chill after work with friends. There's great music, decor and yummy food. There really isn't a waiting area. You walk in and you're immediately greet by a warmth from a stove/heater in a small area. Turn to the left and there's a heavy duty curtain. Enter through it and BAM! Everyone one sitting in the area looks at you. Anyway, once you're in, you saying to yourself, this is cool. The truffle fries are delicious and the steak was a home run. My husband and I shared the largest piece of steak I've ever seen. 40oz. organic grass-fed maine angus tomahawk steak, prosecco glazed baby carrots, creamed spinach, mushrooms & onions, black garlic whipped potatoes. Listen closely, if you're hungry... you may want to call ahead and order this bad boy in advance (not even sure they allow this) because it takes, at least 45 min to cook (medium well). Once you see it, you'll understand why. With that being said, it was definitely worth the wait. We were too stuffed to try desert. I'm not crazy about how close the tables are to each other. If your hearing is anything like mine, you can hear everyone else's conversation. You'll have to refrain from chiming in....lol. My husband loved the drink selection. They were different and creative. Overall, I liked it hear and will return as the orders from the group to the left and right of me looked really good. The menu isn't overwhelming with selections but has a nice variety to accommodate everyone in your party. Sorry ladies, I failed you a bathroom update. Didn't get a chance to check it out. We parked across the street for $10 dollars. I wasn't too familiar with the area. There was street parking but someone must have taken the last spot that was waiting for me... I'm sure they just didn't see the sign handing around the pole with my name on it.

Yelp
I could have sworn that after all the times I've been here, I'd at least have written a review? Seriously? No? Ok, well here goes. My favorite cocktail bar in CT, hands down. The drink list is encyclopedic, overwhelming, but still well organized with plenty of libations to pique anyone's interest. I stopped in with some friends last night and came away with a new appreciation for the staff, from mixologists to servers. Surprisingly unpretentious and completely helpful, willing to generously help guide their patrons through the menu and describe any seemingly offbeat ingredient or obscure liquor. Yeah, it's expensive, but it's also a complete treat. Not my everyday kind of bar (although it would be if I lived in New Haven, their happy hour is amazing) but a nice destination for the times I find myself in the Elm City. Last night, I sampled several cocktails including the Aquavit Fix-Up (aalborg akavit, campari, pink grapefruit juice straight up), the Church Key (my longtime favorite, aalborg akavit, passion fruit purée, ginger simple syrup, and apple cider foam - in past garnished with a hibiscus flower, this time with a husk cherry), and a sip of my friend's Jolly Roger (four roses reserve bourbon, passion fruit purée, cayenne, soda), which was delightfully complex with a hint of spice. The huge bowl of truffle fries was a perfect accompaniment to my last drink of the night, a lovely flute of Llopart Cava Brut Rosé. Salty & sparkling, the perfect pairing.

Yelp
Had a girls night out and loved the food and drinks. Some of the drinks it on quite the show! We went on a Thursday so we had every single dish on the amazon happy hour menu!! Note: we sat in a cubbie-type booth on the bar area and was SO uncomfortable. The cushions are velcroed to the benches and are not secure. Plus we felt a bit enclosed as you're in a bubble kinda seating area. Overall though, the place is great!

Yelp
This place has the cutest ambiance! Love the outdoor patio seating (for summer) as well as the lighting by the bar (year round). Great for small or large groups. A bit on the pricier side for drinks and food, but definitely still a good spot and very creative menu items. Everything is also very well-made and presented! They have a small happy hour menu, and I would definitely recommend the truffle fries on it. Overall, a good place, especially for drinks!

Yelp
116 Crown describes itself as Connecticut's "Premiere Cocktail Bar" and while I haven't yet had the experience to determine if that is, in fact, true, it is certainly a great place for a cocktail or three. 116 isn't the place to go if you're on a budget. The cocktails are expertly crafted, and this attention to detail is certainly reflected in the price. If you sit at the lighted marble bar, you'll be able to witness this care firsthand, but I'd recommend one of the more comfortable cabana booths. Knowledgeable bar tenders, an extensive cocktail list, and the trendier atmosphere make 116 a great place for a date or special event. High marks for the Doc Holiday, Forth & Clyde, and the Jolly Roger.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I travel a lot, and I try different cocktail bars, and this is one of the finest. I went with two colleagues, and we were able to sit out back on the patio. It was lovely out there. The weather was perfect, and the ambiance is fabulous. We tried several cocktails, including some specials, including the Wild Rose (a Four Roses cocktail), the Margarita Noir, and the Gintonic. These were both beautiful and delicious, with the added perk of being unique. We also shared several small plates, some of which were enormous (the falafel plate, for example). The fries are incredible (def order with truffle oil), the tuna tartare was great, the Korean tacos were fine (maybe don't expect as much out of them), the artichoke spread with toasted bread was fantastic. I would eat there again in a heartbeat. Everything had great flavor. The server wasn't very chatty, and that's totally what we wanted. Thanks, 116 Crown! You're amazing!
