Coffee Shops in the West Village | Eater NY

"A long roster of egg dishes, sandwiches, and salads makes this a good place to snag an entire meal. The coffee is slightly less expensive and not flashy, and this place is a favorite with theater students from nearby method acting schools — so you may spot a star of the future." - Robert Sietsema

Where To Go When An Ex Reaches Out - New York - The Infatuation

"We get it, you want to get some things off of your chest. Even though it’s been a vision of yours to have this dramatic face-off happen in a bar or a fancy restaurant, it’s best not to do this inside any establishment where people are being paid to serve you. Try the street, or the courtyard of a public library, or maybe just a stoop somewhere you don’t even live." - Hannah Albertine

Google
Lovely local place with insanely delicious bagels! Saved me after a long day of travel. Would return here again if I was in the area :) also the orange juice is AMAZING and almost tasted like sweet tangerines, I am from Florida so I've had many good orange juices but the type here topped them all!

Google
Realy Realy good bagels, only locals. Super food. Excellent service. Coffee over the moon.

Google

Google
The best coffee in NY, I’ve been trying many coffees, but the 11th’s st cafe has been the best for me, good food, I ordered the AM Wrap, and it was delicious, also the music, the ambience and the service was perfect, I’ll repeat it. Thank you

Matt

Google
Hidden gem! Had a top notch scone and Americano here the other day. Cozy interior with enough seating. Looked like there was some good options for food beyond the pastries too.

Google
Great smoothie (i got "11th str smoothie") - not freezing your teeth and throat, just a perfect cool temperature, it was creamy and rich. It took a bit of wait though. Not cheap - a smoothie and a cookie were a bit over $20. There are four tiny tables and three bar stools, the place is tiny and you most probably won't be able to get a seat.

Google
I wasn’t planning on writing a review, but as I ordered a Chai Latte in Milan I was so disappointed with how not good it was compared to the 11th street cafe one… I loved it so much at this place that I actually bought two… The bagels too were good and the atmosphere was very cozy. The seating area is tight but you squeeze without problem to try the food and coffe/ drinks In my opinion this was one of my best go to places for breakfast and the owner was so nice! Can’t wait to come back

Google
Great coffee. Yummy bagels.

Yelp
The ambiance is cute. The coffee is great. But truly, the standout here is the staff. They are so friendly and kind. The cashier and barista brightened my mood on a long, rough day. I recommend this cute, little neighborhood spot.

Yelp
The place is extremely small but has some small two-seater tables and some sidewalk seating. The inside is also slightly smaller standing room as a refrigerated unit takes up some space so you have to dance around to move between people while waiting for order. There is no longer a big chalk menu on the walls and rather a smaller menu available on the counter where people are fixing their coffee to their liking. However, the staff is extremely nice and willing to help or give suggestions. The fresh squeeze OJ I got was sour and not as flavorful as fresh squeezed usually is. The caramel latte I got was really good and made very fast. May return if in area in future

Yelp
Young male cashier on 7/9/2024 at 11:35 am this morning didn't even bother to put my "microwaved" almond croissant that I asked to be toasted into a paper desert sleeve. He just dumped it into the bag exactly as pictured. I'm not sure if he was upset with me. I was as polite as possible plus I tipped on my croissant order. How lazy could you be?? This is unacceptable!!

Yelp
The aptly named 11th Street Cafe was my Sunday morning stop and was a great spot for morning coffee and a pastry. This place is adorable and cute and they make a passable cortado. They also have a free wifi so I spent about two hours here writing Yelp reviews and thinking about when I would head back over to New Jersey and catch the train back to the van. Yelp
Small but cute spot! Great for a morning latte, or mid day stop. Pastry and food options. And a quick to go fridge of juices and pre made breakfasts and snacks.

Yelp
Most charming cafe in the WV! This is where the real locals go and as soon as you walk in you know why

Lillian C.

Yelp
The A.M. wrap was amazing! This little cafe has such a cute hometown vibe and the staff were polite and helpful. I highly recommend for a delicious breakfast option.

Yelp
I was practically dying of hunger so I popped in just before my hair appointment. It was a hole in the wall kind of tiny cute coffee shop but the latte was great & the almond croissant was fresh & tasty. What a perfect place for a quick bite in the West Village in this cold winter day!

Justin C.

Yelp
Appreciate the vibe. The music taste is superb, ranging between reggae, r&b, and alt r&b. It is also a great study environment, cause everybody is relatively doing the same. The Wi-Fi is a great plus. Favorite part is the people working the cafe. Sweet employees that take their time to get to know community members, especially the elderly. The interior is not the largest, but they make up for it with the outdoor seating in front.

Yelp
A small cafe located on 11th street in the West Village. The cafe had a small inviting atmosphere and smelt of fresh pastries. I ordered the breakfast sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit with bacon. The bacon was cooked nicely and the cheese was melted over delicious eggs. My only complaint would be that the biscuit was a tad dry. I tried the sausage egg and cheese on a croissant and it was perfect. I will be back and ordering that next time!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered takeout and had a good experience. Salmon bagel special and pressed wrap sandwich with sausage and avocado were both tasty, and the employee who helped me out was friendly.

Yelp
This morning had intended to come inside the Cafe and enjoy a coffee as I had done many times..Arrived early w/ some bags ( as I'm traveling today) The large Manfrotto the kitchen knocks Ontario on the window: apparently thought I was homeless? ( funny,as I practice law) to offer tea I told him he was mistaken + naturally was INSULTED,,,, He NEver Apologized For His Obvious W. ERRROR... Saying he was just trying to be Nice? Small little Cafe nothingspecial Do the Math..Will NEVER Return Such arrogance presumption can not go Unotic3d for all to see!

Yelp
If you have a dog, don't come here. I can understand that ownership doesn't want to get in trouble, but it was handled so poorly, I'll never go back. I have a little dog I pick up when going inside somewhere. I got to the front of the line & was told I had to tie my dog up outside. I don't use a leash, and it was 20 degrees outside so I asked if I could place my order quickly then step outside to wait. They told me to go outside and place a mobile order. My gosh. At least ask if it's a service animal. Given the neighborhood, where so many people stop for coffee on their morning walks, you'd think they'd have a better way of handling this. The Elk has warms vibes & good food. Oslo has great beans. Blackstone is beyond friendly with a huge assortment of tasty food items. Hungry Ghost has great neighborhood vibes. Blank Street has the window seating. Cafe Kitsune has the people watching. All of them let me grab a coffee & go while holding my dog without incident. Spend your money elsewhere in the neighborhood.

Yelp
I was craving Breakfast to go in NYC , so I used Yelp to see what was good. I picked 11th St Cafe because of the Yelp reviews. I ordered on Grubhub/Postmate from here because of how good it looked. It didn't disappoint. This place was such a great find! Food was delivered on time and came piping hot We ordered the entire menu it seemed liked. Let's see what's good here!! Fried Egg BLT Wrap add avocado - Egg and Cheese wrap. Bacon and Avocado - Egg, Scallion, cheese, bacon egg scramble - Egg, beans, burrito - Really good! Avocado Toast - Iced Mocha Latte - Cookie - good Side Bacon - Overall - a very good place. The Egg wraps were amazing! Everything was so so good. The portions were big too! Absolutely need to order from here!

Yelp
Absolute worst service, no manners whatsoever, food is good but not worth the horrible service of this place, WOULD DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND
google avatar

Jenny T.

Yelp
DON'T COME HERE. There's better places in the area Don't be fooled by the ambience and upbeat music of this place. Their service is terrible and they take THE LONGEST time to make simple breakfast bowls. There isn't many people here and we did not have orders in front of us so I seriously don't understand the hold up. Do not come here if you want something quick. Originally got their breakfast and granola bowls to stay but changed it take-away because they're slow. Even worse, they gave made the wrong order an insisted that this is what I ordered... and the employee gave me the worst attitude when I said it wasn't. And argued back that I ordered something else..which doesn't even make sense because it wasn't on the menu. She gave me a cheaper version of what I ordered. This is ridiculous. Never coming back.

Yelp
A chill spot in the neighborhood. The setting do the cafe was great and the staff was very friendly. Got a fruit cup and a green tea latte. The quality was pretty good : fruits were fresh, and the strawberries inside were actually sweet - not that common. The matcha latte got skim milk option and the taste was a little bland to me. A nice little spot overall.
google avatar

Izzy S.

Yelp
Stopped in for an iced coffee. Workers were very friendly and greeted me as soon as I walked in. Coffee was very good, and I definitely want to go back and try the food!!
google avatar

Yelp
Went here a couple of times during my stay in the neighborhood. The staff are extremely friendly and the coffee is delicious. I was a huge fan of the Lox bagel
google avatar

Yelp
This cafe is TINY, and COVID-19 restrictions meant everything packaged to go. We were dining in, so my friend and I sat at the TINY bistro table (one of only four micro-tables and were served up a deceptively packaged series of containers. My scramble was in a paper canister with a single slice of toast, wrapped in wax paper and placed on top. It was super yummy, although I had to ask for butter (Why on earth would toast come dry by default? Ask if people want butter, FFS). The experience was positive enough that I will come back after the pandemic is behind us and I really hope they stay in business. One thing we've learned is that there's always a risk that it won't.

Yelp
An almond latte. Not only is this an amazing spot for chilling, reading, studying, whatever you need, but it also has the vibes that you know everybody chases after.

Rose W.

Yelp
I'm cat-sitting in the area and wanted a sandwich for lunch. This place popped up when I searched and it was great! I got the turkey with arugula, blue cheese, etc., and it was excellent. The price was in line with this neighborhood and the sandwich was large. Nice staff too. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Nicolette D.

Yelp
Favorite favorite spot. Literally the best. Best matcha (and I am very particular), really great juices that are very large and cheap for the area and their size. My favorites are the Cucumber Chiller and the Cleanser. The wraps and sandwiches are AMAZING! The AM wrap is my favorite!
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
I ordered a pick up delivery from here today and felt compelled to share my experience because I had to show the staff some love. They are soooo busy and this is a tiny little place and it was packed on Sunday morning. I don't think I could hack it working a day there. There's barely time to breath but the staff still turns out great food in a timely manner. Props to 11th Street Cafe!
google avatar

Sophia B.

Yelp
This was my favorite spot for morning egg bowls. Living closeby, I love the egg cup until now. What is happening to egg+chive+bacen+cheddar bowl? I understand the price is rocketing up from 7$ to today 12$ over past 4 years if it is what it takes. However, I ordered one egg bowl today. It is not creamy as it used to be but dry and tasteless. Very very disappointing. Change of the chefs is normal. But don't give a bump to the taste of the food! The restaurant got to fix this. This is, at least in some sense, a neighborhood place. It doesn't feel like so any more.
google avatar

Elaine H.

Yelp
This is indeed a cute coffee shop tucked in the corner in west village - well if you still cannot find it, it is just next to the Spotted Pig, that famous burger place. 11th street cafe was opened a couple years back, when the French couple owners returned after several years in France. I wouldn't be surprised as they had had stayed in New York before moving back to France. Definitely go for that piece of cookie if you are craving sweet stuff; but do not feel bad about only getting a small cup of espresso, as their drinks are just equally good!
google avatar

Patrick G.

Yelp
Wouldn't let me order a coffee while holding my tiny dog. I live on 11th st 2 blocks from this cafe in an apartment I've owned for 7 years. That's a first for me In this neighborhood. Most will let you order inside and wait outside. They wouldn't take my order.
google avatar

Delaney L.

Yelp
Great coffee and pastries. There are a couple tables indoors and more seating outside. Not a huge place but their coffee selection is top notch
google avatar

Xandra D.

Yelp
This is unacceptable. Why even serve this to someone. Would've loved a call stating you guys were out of avocado or something. Lesson learned!

Madison B.

Yelp
The best cafe in west village. The food is amazing (very fresh, healthy ingredients) and the staff there are the nicest people.
google avatar

Merlin R.

Yelp
11th Street Cafe you are simply fantastic, I had an incredible experience here today. This place is awesome at what it does. Every single thing was fresh, flavorful, and very yummy. Every one was very friendly. 11th Street Cafe = Amazing.
google avatar

Joana B.

Yelp
The best place for lunch in West Village. The menu is really diverse, the food is amazing and the peple working there are the best!!! I totally recommend it!
google avatar

Yasmarie D.

Yelp
It's a cute quiet coffee shop that is close by. The barista was very friendly and I enjoy a more homey type of coffee shop where it's not modern. The feel is very cozy which I really enjoy and my cappuccino was really nice flavor as well.
google avatar

EJ B.

Yelp
Its a small place. Has free ( fast!) wifi and outlet to charge your devices. Good place to work but has no restroom ):
google avatar

Elle G.

Yelp
This place is a little off the beaten path, so that's a plus right there. When you walk in, it's small and rustic. It's cute. There isn't a lot of seating, but I have always been able to grab a table when I go there. I'm sure it depends what time you go though. They also have a couple of benches outside so if you're able to snag them, it is a really nice place to sit outside on a beautiful day and people-watch. This is a great, peaceful street too. I am giving them four stars because I really like the place and the atmosphere. (And most of the staff is nice, in my experience.) However, I had to update my original review because the coffee has not been good lately. I don't know why, but it's just...disappointing. I have not yet tried the lattes or cappuccinos. Maybe I should because the regular brewed coffee is just not "doing it" for me lately. EDIT: (August 28th) They have changed coffee suppliers and they are now using Brooklyn Roasting Company! I was at 11th Street yesterday and MUCH happier with the coffee. :) :) The muffins, croissants, and other pastries have all been very good so far, and I had a really good egg sandwich on a wrap recently. Another plus: they keep three pitchers of ice-cold water out on the counter (and cups), so you can easily stay hydrated while you're eating there and/or drinking hot beverages. I love coming here!
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
I really enjoy 11th Street Cafe. They have great food, and offer interesting choices as well as some more traditional menu items for the less adventurous. The coffee and tea are both top knotch, baked goods are delectable, and the staff is very helpful when deciding what to order. I have loved everything I've ordered here! Blueberry muffin: yum! Iced coffee: Delish...you know it's good coffee when it doesn't need sugar! Lox Bagel: fantastic, and I love how they add sprouts. Bacon Egg Cheese: Mmm, mmm
google avatar

Angie C.

Yelp
Window seat with cushions, check. Free Wifi, check. Available electrical outlets for laptops, check. Coworking in this cozy cafe on 11th Street is possible if you can find a seat. No shortage of cold and hot beverages, and the staff are all super friendly and really, really nice. I'm glad someone recommended me this laptop-friendly place for my web worker needs.
google avatar

Arthur A.

Yelp
First time here. I'll be here again. What you need to know: *Free wi-fi. *Good coffee. *Cheddar and Egg biscuit with Ham was delicious --- ask for it toasted. *Selection of wines and beer available. *A total of nine tables... each seats 2 people. So yes, it's tiny. *Was here for two hours and there were always people in line; was almost always about five people deep. For a tucked-away neighborhood spot, pretty impressive. No fears though, service was pretty fast. Only real downer is that there's no restroom. Think it might be intentional; otherwise people like me would be here all day. :)
google avatar

Marco I.

Yelp
I was looking for a place to sit outside on a gorgeous morning before work, where I could have my morning croissant and cappuccino. Yelp sent me here, and it was disappointing on all levels. Most importantly, the "outside area" that is advertised on Yelp is just 2 benches and NO table, literally nowhere to put your coffee. The SMALL cappuccino I asked for was a huge cup of milk, even bigger than Starbucks. The chocolate croissant tasted like plastic and there was very little chocolate. And of course this was EXTREMELY overpriced, even for Manhattan, at $9 for just that. 2 stars only because it's in the West Village and there are beautiful people walking on the street.
google avatar

Isabella T.

Yelp
I was hesitant to leave this review because I would not want to hinder the business of a small, local shop. However, I felt that the product I received was sufficiently bad to warrant my notifying other potential customers. I came in with one very simple drink in mind: an iced oat latte. I had checked another shops beforehand with no luck. Oat milk is currently burgeoning, but definitely still relatively rare. When I stepped in here, I was pleased to be informed that the shop does indeed carry oat milk! Unfortunately, that moment was the extent of my excitement here. My latte came out tasting dirty, as in the machine hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long. Having worked as a barista in the past, I'm very familiar with the taste. This is inexcusable considering coffee is a central product at this place. The extra star is for the friendly dude who refunded my money
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
Avocado Toast with poached eggs and spiced almonds is great, I get it every time I go. Fresh squeezed OJ is actually very good, but a little pricy. The Egg Bowls are good but don't wow. Overall highly recommend.
google avatar

Andrew F.

Yelp
I love this place. Arguably the best eggs in the WV. The egg whites, turkey and caramelized onions is my favorite. Staff is always super nice too. ONLY complaint is $4 for a small black ice coffee is WAY too much. Not a big deal I'll still come back for the food.

Caroline S.

Yelp
This place has amazing breakfast food, I go here twice a week most weeks. The AM wrap and the bagel breakfast sandwiches are INCREDIBLE and they don't skimp on the good stuff like other places. The croissants aren't great (a little hard) but everything else is amazing!

Ajouni S.

Yelp
I have been here twice now and am so charmed by this place. The staff is so welcoming and kind, the food is delicious and consistent in quality, and the atmosphere is perfect for cozying up and getting some work done. I huddled up here on two separate occasions for hours, working and indulging and I really have enjoyed it. The egg scramble cups are a lot of food and really delicious, I've had the hazelnut coffee and vanilla chai lattes - both equally great. The wifi is strong and I haven't had any issues with my work itself, which was important to me. I was the most touched by the staff not kicking me out as they close down from 4:30pm-5:30pm to re-set and turn from a cafe to a wine bar. I am now enjoying the wine bar atmosphere here and absolutely love it as both the cafe and wine bar. Please don't change what you're doing!
google avatar

Tara S.

Yelp
great coffee! was working on set around the corner and came in for a traveler, morgan was kind enough to brew a fresh batch of coffee for me to bring back - a very sweet person! will definitely be back if i'm ever in the area again.
google avatar

Teresa C.

Yelp
Cute neighborhood cafe. Very welcoming and inviting. They had a delicious fresh strawberry lemonade that was the perfect thing on a hot July day. The macchiato was top notch and the coffee was a good roast. I didn't get to sample their food but everything I saw looked delicious. Very cute place.
google avatar

Kate D.

Yelp
I'm an absolutely sucker for the biscuit breakfast sandwiches they have here. I could eat one for every meal of the day and not get sick of them! However, the coffee is pretty disappointing. It's always kind of thick and tarry. I haven't tried any of the fancier drinks, so maybe those are a little more palatable.
google avatar

Sam P.

Yelp
When Mojo was too crowded the other day, I went searching for other wi-fi friendly pastures in the area, and I had remembered passing this place and thinking "This would be a great place to check out when Mojo's too full" (isn't it nice how I can predict my own future?). Cozy is a generous word for the place, it is TINY and cramped. I managed to squeeze in and get some work done with coffee and a cookie - both OK. Minus one star for a poor use of space (bathroom through the kitchen? Gross.) And minus another one for closing at 5pm on a Monday - I realize it was a holiday, but come on guys - 5pm!? This is New York. Closing at 8pm is early. Not cool.

Yelp
This is my seventh Yelp entry of my Tuesday coffeeshop series. 11th Street Cafe, I would like to thank you for increasing my faith in Chelsea/West Village coffeeshops. I will pardon the fact that you only have one vegetarian sandwich available (okay, I see there is ONE more option for the pressed sandwiches). I WILL say that my sandwich was absolutely delicious. Sandwich came with sprouts, tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, arugula and avocado. After that I treated myself to a tasty treat, mainly a cookie, that was topped with apricot and dipped in walnuts. Gimme gimme. :) The cafe *is* small. It is quaint and I am *so* happy it was not packed. At least three tables open during this weekday afternoon on my 1.5 hour stay. The internet is consistent, too! Yippee! :) There are: + coffee selections + espresso selections + loose teas + special teas...wait...special?! ;) + salads + sandwiches + pressed sandwiches + smoothies/juices + omelette varieties + 7 scrambled egg varieties...seriously?! awesome. :) + bagels + buttermilk biscuits + beer! (Racer 5 IPA, Red Rocket, Stella, Hoegaarden, Blackhawk Stout) + red and white wine 9 tables available...or 18 seats to set your bum on. Also! a lovely bench outside. I think I am in love.
