Until last year, I was a bit skeptical of the smash burger craze, but Gotham Burger Social Club, along with Hamburger America, convinced me of the merits of the smash burger at the top of their game. The Gotham Smash was excellent. Wonderfully flavorful and well-proportioned, the classic was just about perfect with the single patty, grilled onions, melted cheese, jalapeños, and sauces. We also were fans of the Veg'n-out Smash, which is a vegan version made with Impossible Beef. While inferior to the original, it was satisfyingly close. Less notable was the Gotham Dog, which was topped with sauerkraut, relish, ketchup, mustard, and jalapeños. I'm not sure what exactly is in the "club sauce," but it was yummy and elevated all three items. The fries were fabulous--perfectly fried and crispy and salty.
We managed to get a booth without issue when we arrived at around 12:15PM on a Saturday. By 1PM there was a line out the door. Overall Gotham Burger was a great fast casual dining option with a casual, down-to-earth atmosphere. Huge plus that there were high chairs.
