Yikes, downgrading my review... this recent experience must be shared- PSA: check your bill before paying!!
We came in for happy hour recently, and first, we did not get greeted by the host. She partially had her back turned and was on the phone, but it was clear we were standing there. We waited a minute or so, but she made zero effort to even acknowledge us or give a "please hold" gesture. So, we went ahead and sat ourselves at the bar. There were several staff standing by the bar and only 2 other patrons eating. My fiancé stepped away for a phone call, and the bartender completely ignored me for 15 minutes. When he finally got my drink order, he made it and left it sitting out for a couple minutes before setting it to me. It was not busy, and I understand they just opened a half hr ago, but the bartender was attentive to the 2 existing customers. Then, later, another 1 person sat down shortly after my fiancé came back. Guess who the bartender went to first? Another group of 3 sat down, and they were also given attention immediately. Why were we given the cold shoulder? He hardly made conversation with us, but he did with the other patrons.
I don't mind eating at the bar and not making conversation with the bartender, but it felt like we were unwelcomed. To our surprise, when we asked for the check, he made us a free round (except didn't bother asking)- the drink he gave me had a strong cinnamon flavor and sweet, so I didn't drink past the first sip. Moreover, he gave us the wrong check, and my fiancé swiped already since most items were the same as the people next to us. He had to get the front lady to void the transaction. We overheard him ask her if she spoke another language other than English. She didn't. Well, that's no surprise he asked that bc he was probably already talking shit about us/customers the whole time he was chatting with his coworker (not English).
Lastly, believe it or not, it got worse after that... We got the correct check, but all the prices were higher than listed on the menu/website. Every item charged $1-3 more, but when we told the bartender, he said he's heard that before and he's told management, but they don't do anything, so he can't change it- it's the system.
The customers next to us saw what was happening, and they were annoyed by it, too. We paid the higher prices and still tipped over 20%, but left feeling swindled.
The food was fine/average, but if their service and ethics are this terrible, then it's not worth it! This was only our second time dining in, neither were amazing, and we won't be recommending this place to anyone... Plenty of other restaurants to go to!
