Yeah, I wanted to like this place, but I couldn't give it five stars. It bums me out. The service was less than stellar, as was my beer selection.
I had the Desert Mirage, but didn't like it at all. I gave it a 1 on Untappd. I normally like sours, but this combo of Persian limes, prickly pears, and salt left me with a horrible aftertaste. I couldn't finish my beer.
As for the service, if you could call it that, was equally disappointing. The bartender was more interested in talking to her friends than helping out paying customers. Maybe it's because 14er Brewing forces each tab a mandatory 20% tip. For each of those reasons, I knocked a star off this review.
The bottom line is we're in Colorado. It's the Land of Breweries. If you are stellar, you may be able to get away with some of these things...maybe. But when you're not stellar, there are so many other places to go to spend your money on good beer and service.
So, we thank the Hop Passport for allowing us to try 14er, but we won't be back, even with an offer for a free beer.
PS: I'm adding this PS. I know not every beer is for everyone. I can look past that. I can't look past poor service, especially when there are several breweries in the area. I vote with my money.
