So, we've been meaning to visit for quite a while. We finally made it. I was very tempted by some turf (beef tenderloin) on the menu, but I came for surf. We had a great appetizer - soft shell crab, i had the Chilean sea bass which did not disappoint! My husband had salmon with sweet potato ravioli. I will definitely return!

The environment is so relaxing. The color palette is very earthy. They pay attention to details like live plants, fresh cut flowers on the table and the art work on the walls. The menu is amazing. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I especially like that she left water and iced tea on the table so we could have what we needed, but still came by to fill the glasses. I thought the prices were reasonable for an upscale restaurant. I would definitely recommend the restaurant and will go back if I am back in Greensboro.

My amazing lady took me here on my birthday because I wanted an amazing Sea Bass. The greeting and wait staff were very nice curtious and professional. Water bottle never got empty. We were checked on but not constantly bothered. Every dish that came out looked amazing. Not just for taste but also great picture worthy plate presentation. Yes I "plate hawk" lol I had my sea base which was cooked to perfection but under seasoned slightly. Almost was embarrassed to ask for salt. My lovely lady had the Mahi mahi and it also was cooked to perfection texturely and tasted like it looked. Had the Calamari appetizer as I am a junky for it. Again cooked perfectly not chewy or soggy at all and the bean sauce they put it on is something I would have never thought would pair with it but it did amazingly. Portions were of a very decent size. With praise comes critique. The atmosphere was okay at best there is no sound dampening inside of an industrial cement building painted white with maybe one painting on a wall. The music is playing but you can hear everything from everybody bouncing around the walls. Which can make a romantic time much less enjoyable. Which leads me to pricing. Pricing, typically when I gauge pricing it's not just on the food but everything from service to atmosphere. At this level of pricing I would expect a more intimate configuration of the tables/seating and possible white table service. 2 of us with 1 glass of wine each an appetizer and a entree each was a total $145 plus tip. Would I go back? Yes The food and presentation and service were that good to make up for the atmosphere issues. I just wouldn't go there for a romantic time next time.

We visited 1618 Seafood Grille in Greensboro for Father’s Day and had a genuinely pleasant experience. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our 9-month-old daughter for the night before Father’s Day. They offered to bring her mashed potatoes, brought her straws for water, and every hostess took a moment to play and interact with her. It made the night feel especially welcoming and warm. The food had a few surprises in the best way. The calamari appetizer was served over red beans, which caught me off guard at first. But the chipotle aioli tied the dish together nicely and helped bridge the boldness of the beans with the crispness of the calamari. I had the sea bass, which was fantastic. Cooked perfectly. My wife ordered the salmon, and I was especially impressed with the plating (picture attached.) It was served on Israeli couscous that closely resembled salmon roe. Whether that was intentional or not, it was a fun and clever visual detail that I appreciated. The drinks were also enjoyable. They were unique and well-made. My old fashioned was a touch on the sweet side for my preferences, but it was still solid. My only real critique was the Caesar salad. It lacked flavor and overall structure. It felt underwhelming compared to the rest of the menu. I would also suggest a slight update to the ambiance. While it was perfectly fine, a small refresh could help elevate the overall dining experience. Particularly in the back room as it did feel a bit sparse/minimalistic. Despite a few minor notes, the experience was clearly curated with care. The menu, although limited, felt purposeful and focused. Every dish had thought behind it and that effort showed throughout the meal. We would absolutely return. I will add that I am grateful that Greensboro has a restaurant that aspires to be a cut above what would, on paper, qualify as “excellent” for the area.

A personalized meal with personalized service. Delicious food, ambience, and drinks. Wasn’t sure which wine to order, and a sampling was brought of interesting choices that I would never have tried. Definitely will be back when in the area.

Google
Great food, friendly staff and a cool vibe. We were stuck in a corner celebrating my husband's birthday, yet no one really asked if we were celebrating anything. Nevertheless, it was a great meal with fabulous cocktails and service.

Yelp
First time I've had 1618 in some years and they still have yet to disappoint. For starters I had the calamari and soft shell crab. Still they have some of best calamari around. Very crispy and the sauce to pair goes so well. The wasabi glaze is perfect and really steals the show in the taste battle. Joining that was the soft shell crab and it didn't disappoint. I will say it was different, when you first bite into the crab alone it does have a unique texture to it, but when you taste the entire dish it somehow blends so well. The sriracha glaze is such a perfect addition because the flavors pops even more. Entree was the seared tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and sesame cabbage. My first time ever having seared tuna and it was enjoyable. Personally I wasn't blown away but I think I can see why it's popular. The glaze on it adds a great flavor to the tuna. Now the sesame cabbage and wasabi potatoes were special. The cabbage does top the potatoes nicely but the potatoes are rich in flavor and really sold the dish for me. They compliment each other well and mixed with the balsamic glaze you're just adding to what is already a great entree. Service and energy have always been great here and place has yet to disappoint. If you're in the are worth the visit. Im not even the biggest seafood lover but I think you'd still enjoy your experience.

Yelp
Food: The quality of the food at 1618 is definitely the biggest draw. Where they fall a little bit short is the unnecessary complexity of their dishes. The complimentary bread they provided was freshly baked, warm and had a delightful taste. The Sesame crusted pan seared Tuna had way too many elements taking away from the quality of the dish, but nonetheless the fish was good. Same story with the Sea Bass, the cook was executed perfectly, but I would prefer a more simple presentation that really allows the quality of the fish to shine on its own. Service: the house was packed about halfway through dinner service and we definitely felt that gap towards the end. Ambiance: the place has a very intimate feel with dim lighting, upscale decor and seating that is very close together and cozy. Overall a good place for a date or a business meeting.

Yelp
A decent spot for more elevated dining. We booked a reservation through Resy and they were able to seat us fairly quickly upon arrival even though we came a little bit early. There's fairly low lighting in the evening to add to the ambiance and the decorations are very modern. When we got to the table, the booth side was all wet and I didn't realize it until after I sat in it. The table was also fairly wet and some of the utensils that were in the place settings were dirty. The service was okay and we were notified that they may be out of one of the dishes for the night. The sangria that I ordered was fairly light and watery upon arrival at our table. The bread tasted freshly baked and the pesto that it came with had a good balance of flavor. We were informed that the seared tuna was the restaurant's signature dish so we opted to order one. The tuna was cooked perfectly, but the chipotle oil overpowered the entire dish and made it so that you couldn't taste much else. The wasabi mashed potatoes were good in some of the bites, but it looked as though the wasabi wasn't thoroughly mixed. There were lots of clumps of just wasabi/green that you could see and were least pleasant when eating. The sautéed sesame cabbage was on the soggier side and didn't add much texture wise to the dish. The Chilean sea bass was also cooked very well and I commend the restaurant for being able to execute the cook of the fish well. This was ordered as a backup dish since they ran out of one of the dishes that we initially wanted to try, but I am glad that we were able to try it. All of the flavors of the dish went very well together and made for very exciting bites. I would definitely order the dish again.

Yelp
Fantastic meal. Truly. Everything was delicious and the presentation was like art. We came here with a big group and they handled us easily I will say that the appetizers came quick and there was a long long wait for the meal, but as it turned out, the weight was totally worth it. Someone at our table basically got everything on the menu and everybody thought it was one of the best meals they had had in a very long time

Yelp
This place never disappoints. We went for drinks and apps and sat at the bar and it was the best way to end the work week. I had a strawberry, basil, goat cheese martini and it changed my life. And of course always get the calamari. The wine list is impressive as well.

Yelp
High quality ingredients, friendly efficient staff, and modern, almost industrial atmosphere (not lovely). I wanted to love it, but every entree we got ($46 and $48 entrees) were "meh." They obviously are meticulous in picking high quality seafood, but the flavor punch was anemic in my opinion. Having lived in New Orleans, Baltimore, Maastricht, Los Angeles, etc, I expect to be wow'd with a ~$50 entre. I just wasn't here.

Yelp
The hubs and I made reservations for a date night on a Friday night for a nice evening at 1618. Our daughter ended up being a 3rd wheel (home from college on the Labor Day weekend and "none of her friends were in town so she gave us the puppy dog eyes"). We called a little over an hour prior to our reservation to add a 3rd person and they were very accommodating, which was appreciated! Arrived around 7:45 and were shown right to our table. Decor is minimalistic but warm and welcoming at the same time. We ordered drinks: sauvignon blanc for me and an old fashioned for the hubs....plain water for the underaged daughter :-). The hubs really enjoyed his old fashioned and he is pretty picky about his drinks! I can't remember our server's name, but it was her very first night serving on her own, and she did a really great job being personable and attentive! For starters, we ordered the beef tartare and the calamari. Both were amazing and we ate every crumb. The calamari had red kidney beans underneath which I found interesting but delicious. Once those were done, our entrees were not out quite yet, so our server offered hot bread with butter which we happily accepted. It was delicious as well. On to the entrees. I ordered the sea bass. Due to my lobster allergy, I had been afraid that it was off limits due to the lobster tempura, but the kitchen was happy to modify the dish so that I could order it. The hubs ordered the Ahi tuna, and the daughter ordered the salmon. Everyone was more than satisfied with their entree and did not want to share!!! Bottom line: Come here and eat!! This is our third time dining here and each time has been amazing. Service, ambiance, and food are all on point. I would recommend to the most critical diner without reservation.

Yelp
Food and drinks were extremely tasty. Tuna off the charts. Sea bass simply divine. Great service. Very personable and timely. Fun ambiance. Modern feel.

Yelp
What a fabulous restaurant. The atmosphere was casual but classy, the noise level was just right, the service was friendly, helpful, and pretty hilarious! It's my first time, but they know my daughter well. The food was out of this world. We started with the calamari which everyone around us also seemed to be starting with. I believe it may be the very best calamari I've ever had in my life and I've eaten calamari all over the world. For our main dish we both had the tuna which comes with wasabi mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked cabbage. Doesn't sound like much, but trust me, at least one person at the table needs to get this dish! We also got the cheesecake and crème brûlée for dessert. Both exceptional. It's my daughter's go to restaurant, she absolutely loves it and it was great to finally get there. I hope I will have the opportunity to go back. Truly exceptional and unique. They accept reservations, and I highly recommend you make yours next weekend!

Yelp
We went to celebrate our anniversary and sat at the bar. Morgan took care of us and made really good Old Fashioned drinks. They have a large assortment of bitters and the bartenders really know their stuff. We had the Calamari appetizer and it was crispy and served on top of beans.

Yelp
My wife and I decided to dine out spontaneously and ended up at 1618. The food was downright delicious and the drinks, quite refreshing. Jake served us and the guy was exceptional! Honestly, this place was a treat, I highly recommend you give it a shot.

Yelp
Truly a remarkable dining experience. The presentation was gorgeous and the food tasted even better. 5 starts isn't enough; will absolutely be back!

Yelp
The Hubby and I went to 1618 for our 10 year anniversary dinner. It had been a while since we had been there, as the last time was our 1 year anniversary dinner. But to my great happiness it was just as wonderful as ever. The service was impeccable, the ambiance, was calm and chill, and the food was absolutely delicious. We vowed not to wait so long to go again, because of all the places we eat, this place is consistently the best.

Yelp
Was heading to another restaurant and something told me to pull in. I'm so glad I did! The aesthetic is clean and crisp. I love the windows behind the bar, it's an element you don't find often. The bartenders James and Eric were so knowledgeable and made my experience amazing. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Fantastic dinner for our 16th wedding anniversary. The food and service were fantastic, as always. Everything that we ordered was absolutely delicious. Who would think that red beans and calamari would pair well? Ridiculously tasty! Both the sea bass and halibut had perfectly seared crusts. The complimentary key lime pie bites were the perfect size to share after devouring our meals. Great place for special occasions. Lively ambiance, lovely decor with high ceilings. Tasteful tableware. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Wow, just wow. From the moment we walked in to the minute we left, we had an unforgettable experience. We were greeted by friendly faces in a fancy entrance. Absolutely love the ambiance and the decor. We started with drinks. I had an amazing Cabernet to start, followed by a neat pour of Stagg Jr. First off, they had Stagg Jr on their menu, which is typically very hard to find. Second, the price for the hefty pour was outright cheap for what I was getting. Wife had an Espresso Martini mixed just right. She said it was her favorite so far in the city. Appetizers were to die for. Take a look at the pics and the descriptions below. Words can't depict what the pictures show. I had the filet mignon with a pastry circle, accompanied by a lobster bite. The presentation was amazing. Wife had a Chilean sea bass that melted in her mouth. I can't explain well enough what an amazing evening we had from start to finish. Just go and experience it all, you won't regret it.

Yelp
About nine years ago, he picked this restaurant for our first dinner together. We wanted to commemorate the occasion and returned to where it all started. The ambiance was as romantic as it could possibly be. The service was top notch as usual. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, I should've taken a pic but forgot to. We shared our entrees : sea bass and beef tenderloin, also enjoyed some fresh warm bread. It was a very special night. We tried the crème brûlée. We had a phenomenal dinner. Our server was very attentive and cordial. I love this restaurant!

Yelp
We had a work event at 1618 and it was absolutely delightful! The menu that was prepared was perfect. The salmon was delicious and the risotto was to die for! Ivey took amazing care of us and is truly an asset to 1618. The owner came and introduced himself to our group and was extremely polite. Great experience!!! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Came here with family to celebrate my sister's birthday. I never been here before and it's been bookmarked on my Yelp for a little while. It's a very nice and chill spot. They have a bar area one side and the dining on the other. There is also outdoor seating as well. We had a reservation, and we were immediately seated upon arrival. We were served our drinks looked over the menu, and we waited. And waited. And waited. After about 10-15 minutes our server returned and asked if we would like an appetizer. Usually one is asked about appetizers after receiving drinks. He disappeared on us. We gotten the flatbread. About 20 minutes after being seated, we were given the complementary bread, butter, and oil. He placed it on the corner edge of the table and left. Did not say a single word. I didn't think it even came with the meal because it took so long. Another 10min went by and we then were notified that there was a party in the event room and we needed to hurry and place our orders. We knew what we wanted, we just didn't our server to go ahead and place them. 15min go by and our server came to check on us, we asked for another basket of bread, he said sure. We never received it. We finally gotten the flatbread. It took so long, we all forgot about it. Our server returned and notified us that our ticket was next. It took a total of 1.5hrs (no exaggeration) before we received our meals. Our reservation was at 7pm, appetizer was served around 7:45pm, we gotten our entrees at 8:34pm. Yes, I was looking at my watch. Now, I understand having to serve the event as well, but we, nor the other patrons (we saw the lack of service, and heard them talking) weren't happy with the lack of service. Thankfully our food was amazing. I gotten the seared tuna with mashed potatoes, and it was wonderful. I love how the plate was served. I also gotten the key lime pie without the coconut and it was so rich in flavor. Loved it! I sampled everyone's dish and everything was so good. The meal saved this review, because I was very unhappy with the service. I do plan to return for a better overall experience, because I'm sure the event is what caused the dissatisfaction.

Yelp
This used to be my very favorite restaurant in Greensboro - 5 stars - every time. Unfortunately, the last couple times we've been here I've not been nearly as impressed. We came for our anniversary a couple weeks ago. Our appetizers were amazing! The sushi tacos are a must try! We did favor one over the other - but I can't remember which one. The crab cake was also pretty good. I'm thinking this must have been a one-off kind of thing, but my beef tenderloin dish was extremely over salted. I gave over half of my dish to hubby to eat (he agreed it was salty, but he still ate it!). He reported his lamb chops to be a bit salty too, and I took his word for it: Still, the uniqueness of the dishes, the service and ambiance are first-rate!

Yelp
Food is Art. The plating is upscale and intentional. The servers are very attentive. The food is good. The portions are small. The sides are almost nonexistent. I believe the purpose is so you have multiple courses, appetizer, drinks, main course, dessert and are still able to sit without unbuttoning your pants. After tip, a bill for 1 is around $110.00. I ordered 2 glasses of wine, scallops appetizer ($20 for 2 scallops) and the Flounder Dish. The scallops were delicious but the flounder was underwhelming, the plating was beautiful but it lacked flavor and the asparagus was strong. However my friends loved their dishes. One said it was the best steak she had ever ate and my other friend raved about the tuna dish! This restaurant is unique. I can't think of another local restaurant similar to it in Greensboro. The closest comparison that comes to mind is Emeril Lagasse's restaurant in Las Vegas.

Yelp
This place is phenomenal! Fantastic scallops as well as tuna tacos. Service from Jake was outstanding. Bourbon Vanilla Cheesecake is off the charts. I highly recommend.

Yelp
It's hard to know where to start. Let's talk people first. The staff at 1618, from the front desk to the wait team is incredibly engaging and attentive. No less that three team members, other than our waitress, connected with us to ensure we were taken care of. Katie, our waitress, was kind and knowledgeable. Her suggestions were spot on. The food is still, in my view, the best in Greensboro. We started with the calamari which was tender and beautifully seasoned. My wife had the sea bass and I had the seared tuna. I would highly recommend both. The sear on the tuna was delightful. The presentation was amazing as well. Great meal, warm atmosphere and terrific service. Nothing more needs to be said.

Yelp
I came here on a Thursday night with a colleague and we had a great dinner. She had the sea bass and I had the seared tuna. They were both excellent! Not only did the food taste great but the presentation was beautiful. The flavor profiles were spot on. This was our first time at the restaurant and we did not know what to expect, but we found the restaurant ambiance to be welcoming, even though it was more upscale. The restaurant was tastefully and artistically designed. We had good service from start to finish and I would recommend this as a good choice for many occasions.

Yelp
Incredible late night dinner experience @1618_west this past weekend. We called and got a table very last minute and the service once we arrived was excellent. The food here feels more like pieces of art that also taste delicious. The presentation is carefully executed. We ordered Pork Katsu to start. Bread with herbed dipping oil was brought to our table after that as we waited for the entrées: Striped Bass and Scallops, Flounder, and Beef Tenderloin. For dessert we shared a Pot de Crème and Strawberry Tiramisu. I had a pot of hot chai tea with the service. Such a lovely night start to finish. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience as always. We often come on my birthday and Mother's Day.

Yelp
This was my first visit and I must say I will definitely return. Everything was amazing, food, staff and environment. The staff throw someone's leftovers away in error and made them a fresh entree to resolve the matter. Top notch service and food! Highly recommended!

Yelp
1618 West has long been the premier seafood restaurant in Greensboro. Elegantly casual, 1618 has converted an old fire station into a cool space. The seafood is unrivaled in town highlighted by their unique artistic presentation. We have found the dishes to be consistently wonderful. Creative combinations of flavors results in a delight to the senses. Service is very friendly and attentive in a relaxed, casual manner. Servers are knowledgeable of the dishes and make excellent recommendations. The bar is a popular gathering space for regulars. I highly recommend 1618 West for special occasions, business meetings, and any time you want an outstanding dining experience. The only negative to the space is that it can be loud. They work hard to address the acoustics, yet conversation can at times be difficult. Despite the noise level, 1618 easily earns five stars.
google avatar

Andre E.

Yelp
The service is superfast. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was excellent. Ambience was nice but noisy. They should probably invest in some noise suppression audio equipment. Had the calamari as an appetizer it was OK my Mrs. had the tenderloin cooked. Medium was very good. I had the grouper which was really good however, for the price I think the fish portion should've been a little bigger. Will be back again.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! The service, the food, the ambience. Every bite was divine! We went there for an early Valentine's Day treat with my brother and his wife. I ordered the ahi tuna which was perfection! A huge helping of mashed potatoes and cabbage came with it that I could not finish! Hubby ordered the Chilean Bass with Brussels sprouts and a side of risotto. Best he's ever had! My sis in love had the salmon cooked perfectly but what was extremely good were the side of black bean (poppers?). We all had winter salads. The bread was good, too. Not one complaint. It was so nice to have really good service for once. In this day and age it's so hard to come by anymore. Thank you 1618 seafood for a wonderful experience.

Yelp
For those who know me, there are very few places in Greensboro that I will plop down close to $50 for a meal and say it was worth it. 1618 West Seafood Grill is one of those places! As much as I love going out to eat, I do not like spending an excessive amount of money for a meal. I tend to gravitate towards specials, buffets, lower priced restaurants without frills. My kids are much more adventurous and free with their pocketbook than I am when it comes to dining. It's a good thing I don't drink or I would have a heart attack plopping down $10 bill for a little glass of liquor or beer. But, when it comes to 1618, it's not only a delicious experience, but a visually pleasing experiences as well and well worth the price! It's one of my daughter's favorite restaurants so I knew she would be thrilled when we were going there for dinner.1618 is conveniently located off Friendly Avenue between downtown and Friendly Shopping Center. Plenty of parking up front and as soon as you walk in there is a spacious bar on the left and a large but intimate dining space on the right. The meal might have been $50, but the place was packed on a week night! The presentation is so gorgeous that you hate to dig into the food and ruin it but ruin it I did! Lol I love how you do not feel rushed at 1618. Devon and I had lots of time to chit chat and catch up and enjoy this very special meal. This is good for me. When I go to a restaurant I tend to want everything immediately. The service here is impeccable ( Devon's husband Steven is friends with the waiter we had) but here it is about taking your time and enjoying the whole experience. Considering most places like this serve small portions, I have always been satisfied with the portions at 1618. That combined with the lovely atmosphere and an incredible presentation, and unbelievable tastes makes this one of my special places to go in Greensboro for a special meal! Next time you want a unique experience in dining in Greensboro, I suggest you head over to 1618 and you will see what I mean!

Yelp
Interestingly enough we have eaten brunch many times at 1618 but not dinner so we recently fixed that. The dishes come out as artwork so if you appreciate a dramatic plating this is your place. I had the filet which was tender and cooked perfectly. My husband had the tuna and enjoyed his as well. Also, the bread and oil they serve is delicious and that alone could be a meal. The margarita was strong and delicious too! And let me not forget to mention the service. The service is top notch.

Chris G.

Yelp
We recently ate here with another couple. The calamari and shrimp appetizers were amazing. Entrées, we had the grouper, mahi, sea bass, and halibut. Some of the presentations were a little over complicated, but overall the fish was cooked excellent. The halibut was my favorite. For dessert. we ordered the crème brûlée and it was so good, we ordered a second. Cocktails were good as well and our waiter, Matthew was very attentive and friendly, making me experience very enjoyable.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere The ahi tuna was super fresh and delicious The wait staff was super attentive - we tried several different wines til we decided on a rich red bottle

Yelp
Presentation is everything with that being said it looked wonderful but was missing taste. This is my husband plate which he ate every last bit so it's fair to say he enjoyed it. I had blacked salmon. The other couple that was with us had sea bass and her husband had chicken which he enjoyed.

Yelp
Came highly recommended by coworker so we made a reservation and stopped by. There was also complimentary bread that was slightly under-baked but had a nice buttery flavor and paired with a mild pesto sauce. They were out of their limited grouper item at 6:30 PM so we missed out on our chance. We had the duck confit, Chilean sea bass, and the Alaskan halibut. Duck confit: pretty tasty. Nice roasted carrots with a great garlic polenta. The duck nice and crispy. Rich with nice balance of accents. Would recommend as appetizer. Chilean sea bass: fish was very well cooked. The stuffed tomato with a lemon cream was a very nice pairing. The creamy fried crab polenta was very rich which was tasty on its own but felt overly rich given how rich sea bass already is. The cucumber onion relish did not appropriately combat the richness of the dish despite being extremely acidic. There was also an avocado garnish that made the dish even more decadent than felt appropriate. Finally, the broccoli rabe tasted good but was extremely tough and had to be chewed for an extended amount of time. Overall, the individual components were well cooked but as a dish was not harmonious and had a confusing mixture of flavors. Alaskan Halibut: fish was very well cooked as well with a nice browning on the outside. There was poor penetration of seasoning into the thick piece of fish so the inside was fairly plain. The couscous had a great tomato flavor and worked well the more decadent fish. The pepper the couscous was stuffed in was very watery and thick but that is usually the case with stuffed peppers. There was also nicely grilled zucchini slices that were topped with slightly too chewy lobster pieces. The only real problem was that the dish was seasoned very disproportionally. Half of the halibut was doused in salt while the other part was extremely plain. There was also a random zucchini that was doused with salt as well. The dish components paired far better together than the chilean sea bass did. Overall, dishes were made very well but could feel discombobulated as a dish. Would recommend a try though!

Yelp
This was my second time visiting 1618 West and both times the entire experience was incredible. This past time, there was a snafu with Resy cancelling our reservation but they easily accommodated our party despite being very busy. The restaurant is beautiful and feels intimate. Both times I have gotten a salad to start and the salad always feels super elevated and tastes delicious. This time I had the blackened grouper and it did not disappoint!! I travel to Greensboro for work and I am planning to make this a part of my trip each visit!

Yelp
1618 has always been great for us, in all of its variations and locations from wine bar to downtown seafood. The 1618 West Seafood Grill is no exception. The food here is very good and in a town full of burgers it's something a little bit different which is a welcome change of pace. The location is a far less tight than the other places that share the 1618 label. As a place that started as a wine bar, the drinks are terrific and the wine options are great. For us, brunch is a real treat as the Mimosas are wonderful and the menu has some unique takes on the normal brunch options.

Yelp
I've been told about this place but wow it way exceeded my expectations and then some ! For some reason it's even better when someone treats you to such a fabulous meal. My friend is a gem. Everything from the minute we walked in the door was just stellar . Service, food, wine and ambiance. Top shelf! Very contemporary decor and the menu is ever changing . Really nice varied wine list and some choice cocktails. They also have a great bar area where you can eat too. Also a nice patio . I loved our seats as I had an open view of the whole restaurant and could see the amazing plates being served. We started with a nice bottle of a new to me wine, a Spanish Albariño. Nice dry, crisp with citrus tones worked well with our seafood dishes. Their bread service is just a great start with the basil oil. Crunchy and soft combo. We started with the shrimp and oyster sliders. Fabulous textures with the shrimp and fried oysters great balsamic glaze and Siracha aioli and basil oil. With a creamy coleslaw and on a toasted point. A nice start with a totally unique plate. Kinda messy but kinda delicious. My friend had the ahi tuna entree . This is an amazing huge wonderfully presented dish . Wasabi mashed potatoes and sesame cabbage , basil oil and balsamic glaze, I tried this and it is to die for. The tuna just melts in your mouth. Those potatoes OMG . Hope everyone tries this ! My entree was equally amazing. The scallop and golden tilefish ... with some spinach and so much more. So much going on in this plate but every bite was a flavor bomb. That harrisa tomato compote was creamy heaven. This again ? Yes ! The dessert list was also a little something for everyone but when do you really see a strawberry tiramisu? Yes get it ! Nice and light and fresh. Fruity and and creamy. Also had a delicious espresso martini with dessert. A little milky for me but a lovely drink anyway! This was was most definitely one of the best meals I've had In Greensboro. It'll be on my suggestion list for anyone looking for a special place. A culinary delight.

Yelp
The food is very interesting. Had the calamari at the suggestion of the waiter and it was ok but the nothing so extraordinary. Yes there was a bean mix under the bed of calamari but for me it didn't work so well. Then again at the recommendation of the waiter I had the tuna entree. Yes it was beautifully presented the rare sesame coated tuna laying on a bed of wasabi mashed potatoes with a cabbage salad on top. But again it didn't entice me. Wasabi and mashed potatoes didn't really do it for me. I honestly couldn't finish them all. Had the pot de cream for desert which was nice chocolate mouse.

Yelp
All I can say is on our return visit to 1618 West Seafood Grill was phenomenal. We arrived right as they were opening for dinner and we didn't have a reservation, but the fit us in anyway. The server was helpful in creating a custom dish for one of our party who has lots of dietary restrictions. Which was very much appreciated. The food was outstanding. The service was fantastic. This place is a gem and we can't wait for our next visit. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Pricey but worth every penny. The food is top notch, the cocktails are great, the servers are so knowledgeable/helpful/kind, and the ambiance is intimate.

Yelp
Industrial interior that lean masculine, good for date night or brunch which we attended. Dueling biscuits 4/5 ... i loved the biscuit itself. It was fluffy soft and nice crumb. The shrimp were well flavored, juicy and big. Definetely tasted fresh with nice contrast from fried onions. The sausage gravy was lovely. It was thick and creamy with sausage all throughout. But i wish the tomato gravy was more nuanced with less heavy cream flavor. Chicken and Waffles - 4/5 i prefer chicken on the bone but the tenders were good. Nice crunchy batter and chicken was flavorful. The custard was nice and mildly sweet to layer on the waffle. The waffle itself is dense and springly with a harder crust more like a belgian waffle. Which i loved! The eggs - 5/5 jiggly soft and definitely not overcooked. I dont like a hard scramble. So this fit the bill.

Yelp
As always the food, ambiance and service were top notch. They changed the recipe for their espresso Martinis, bummer. Had the steak was on point. Do yourself a favor and bring your own bottle of wine. Pay the corkage fee!

Yelp
I love seafood and have always wanted to try this place but it is definitely on the pricey side and wouldn't have options for my husband (vegan) so even on special occasions it never seemed like an option for me. Then this year- a good friend of mine found this out and offered to take me for my birthday- hooray! The restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable, classy in a minimalist way. We asked for a wine recommendation because I wanted a dry rosé and it's very easy to accidentally get a sweet one. The wine was perfect! We got the scallops as an appetizer and they were pricy, but very delicious and were plated very beautifully. I was advised that the Chilean Sea Bass is their crowd favorite so I went with that and my friend chose the flounder. The food was very good and had complex flavors but a little undersalted for my taste and I found it strange that there was no table salt at the actual table- must be a fancy restaurant thing. In any case it was a really lovely experience. They are definitely specialized for seafood but they do it very well.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner at 1618 West Seafood. The service by our server Steve, the food runners and hostess were impeccable! They made our birthday experience fantastic! The food was outstanding! My sea bass was cooked to perfection!!! The watermelon salad was fresh and dressed with a tasty dressing. The beef tenderloin was outstanding and the accompanying veggies were flavored to the max! We'll be back soon!!!
