A Secret Garden Bar Rises in the Back of Hank’s Dupont - Eater DC

"Q Street, the new alleyway addition to Hank’s Oyster Bar, offers cocktails like dirty martinis, berry negronis, and rotating margaritas. The quick food menu includes oysters on the half shell, middleneck clams, peel-and-eat shrimp, seafood ceviche, lobster deviled eggs, and crab dip." - Tierney Plumb

Yelp
Had dinner here with a friend on a Friday night. Hank's gets a lot of things right, but falls short in some areas. The restaurant is spacious, lively, and ambient. The outdoor dining space in the front is cute, and the servers there were knowledgeable and attentive. The upstairs outdoor bar is fun. I ordered the white wine and the punch of the day, but the white wine was served in a plastic cup and was not chilled. Most of the food was average and overpriced, with sauces that didn't complement the dishes as well as they could have. The menu could benefit from being more thoughtfully curated. Although there's no dessert menu posted online, they did offer key lime pie and chocolate mousse on my visit. Must-get (5/5): Oysters Rockefeller, Hush Puppies. Both were fried and buttery seafood perfection. Still good (4/5): Lobster Roll, Popcorn Shrimp & Calamari; tasty, though the sauce was unnecessary and didn't complement the shrimp or calamari well. Pass (3/5): Grilled Branzino; although the fish was cooked perfectly, the sauce didn't complement the fish and the consistency of the sauce was off, as it separated into watery and thicker components. After one bite of the fish with the sauce, I chose to eat the fish without it.

Yelp
First time at Hank's and it's definitely on my life to circle back to. I went with a friend for restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised by the variety in the RW menu, which can honestly be limited in the city. We sat outside in their street patio which was covered and had fans that worked well to keep the humidity down. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and knew the menu to help us make decisions which is always a great touch. Now, onto the food! Mini Caprese Salad: A refreshing start to the meal, with vibrant tomatoes and creamy mozzarella. The ingredients were fresh, though I felt a touch more seasoning or a drizzle of balsamic glaze could have added a bit more depth. Lobster Bisque: The bisque was rich and creamy with a generous amount of lobster. It was comforting and satisfying, which a perfect portion for a 3 course meal. Raw Oysters: The oysters were fresh and briny, a true delight for seafood lovers. They were served with a classic mignonette that complemented them well. Cake Cake Dinner: This was a a strong item of the evening, and the cake was moist and flavorful. It leaned a bit on the bready side, but it was still a delightful treat that I'd recommend for those who enjoy more fillings Seafood Pasta: The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, and the seafood was plentiful. The dish was filling, including shrimp, scallops, and octopus which was a nice taste on the dish. Key Lime Pie: A solid ending to the meal with a well-balanced mix of tart and sweet. The buttery, crumbly crust was a highlight, though the filling was slightly denser than I prefer. Still, it was a refreshing and satisfying dessert. Overall, I had a very good experience. While there's always room for improvement, the meal was satisfying, and I would definitely return to try more of their offerings.

Yelp
We stopped in Saturday for dinner. There wasn't a wait and loved the vibes in here. Lots of options to choose from. They served us a few goldfish in a tiny bowl before our meal and a few pieces of chocolate in a tiny bowl after our meal - that was definitely very unique and memorable! Staff was friendly and food was delicious! I'd recommend this spot if you're looking for a coastal experience in DC.

Yelp
I'm definitely a fan of Hank's but have been visiting the other location more frequently. Yesterday, I returned to this location and I'm happy that I did. First, impeccable customer service! Shoutout to "Jasmine" in the Q street bar upstairs. They didn't miss a beat and kept my drinks flowing, conversation going, and an overall amazing time. Thanks Jasmine! I'll be trying the winged eyeliner tips immediately! Yassssssssss Now this is a huge change from my encounter years ago where the bartender at the time treated me poorly. I'm glad that throughout the years, service has changed and diverse crowds can feel more accommodated. Decor: I've been to this location several times but never to the Q street bar upstairs. Jasmine informed us that the decor changes with the theme and yesterday's theme was in line with the beach/shoreline vibes. I definitely felt like I was in Miami with the outdoor breeze and burst of colors- until the rain came down. Rushing inside to the bar area, we continued the happy hour experience! Drinks: I ordered vodka soda, perfectly prepared and a great calorie cut for those wondering why I selected it. We can be healthy and turn up lol Food: To start, I ordered 4 oysters (priced at $2.25 ea. during HH) the selections were Salty Wolfe (VA) and Battle Creek (VA). The Salty Wolfe had a smooth finish, dare I say that it was a bit creamy and sweet but definitely smooth. The Battle Creek were divine but not as sweet at the Salty Wolfe. Both selections were fresh and of course you cannot help but to squeeze a little lemon on top, a drop of cocktail sauce, and dive right in. 10/10! I always enjoy their oysters. Fried Shrimp Slider with Old Bay Fries: this was a little "I need something more on my stomach" selection and I'm glad that Jasmine recommended it. The shrimp was seasoned to perfection and fried perfectly! Topped with coleslaw and laid on a freshly baked bun, this sandwich was too good to put down. Seriously, the bread was fresh and carried a homemade flavor. The old bay fries were shoestrings cut with just the right amount of Old Bay sprinkled on each fry. This meal is definitely portion controlled but filling and not bad for the price of $8. Overall, I had an incredible time and as always, I'd choose Hank's over and over again for my pick of fresh oysters!

Yelp
Good food, pretty fresh oysters, but a little pricey, the other food are just normal. Environment is good.

Yelp
Here's the secret to Hank's- the dessert is the best part! We had a wonderful time at dinner overall. The restaurant is large, roomy, and airy. The staff were super nice, and people were constantly checking on our table. My friend had a great fish sandwich, and I had an absolutely amazing cheeseburger! The secret is the dessert though. The key lime pie is made in house and you can tell. It's creamy, light, and zesty. The crust is perfect and the total package is just superb. The chocolate mousse was light but rich and the flavor was on point. Who would think that an oyster bar would have such amazing desserts? Don't miss them!

Yelp
The lobster roll was quite amazing and it had quite a bit of lobster inside. They certainly didn't skimp. The oysters were also delicious.

Yelp
I've truly enjoyed Hank's happy hour specials For quite some time. They have $2.50 oysters which are still actually really good and good mix of cocktails at a decent price (for dc). There's always ample seating and the music is always a good Mix of pop & r&b. The service however, has consistently left something to be desired (both times I've been in in the last few months), and maybe it's because I was there during happy hour...not sure. Overall, I'll be back for the oyster and happy hour deals. Glad to see them still providing high quality food!

Yelp
The oysters were sooo yummy i couldn't get enough. If you're not sure which oysters to get, you can ask the waitress for recommendations! I liked the more sweet and also the briny oysters. I think i liked the sweet red gem, salty wolfe, and chop tank oysters. The crab cake was also veryyy good, but i'm not sure if it's worth the price? And i didn't like the fried oysters. It just tasted so oily and like fried cheese on top of big oysters. I liked the cooked oyster itself but the cheese was too much. I tried it because it seemed like a popular dish. Happy hour is only if you sit at the bar. They have a really lively upstairs bar as well, with an outdoor area outside! They also have seating outside in front of the restaurant for a more quiet ambiance. I like that they gave goldfish as an appetizer :)

Yelp
Casual seafood spot that is a little on the pricy side but that has a solid menu of options that are very tasty Also have some non-seafood options as well Both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, you can choose to sit at either the bar or at a table. When I came here I opted for their daiquiri and a fish & chips dish. It was all very delicious. They also gave my party a small complimentary chocolate for dessert
google avatar

Lily S.

Yelp
Casual seafood spot with reasonable prices. A really nice neighborhood spot. Free goldfish at the beginning of the meal and chocolate at the end adds a lot to the experience.

Yelp
Brought my family here when they were visiting from out of town. It was easy to book a reservation online, and not too difficult to find street parking nearby! There was plenty on indoor and outdoor seating as well as bar availability. The vibe is casual and cute! We were greeted by a friendly host and our waitress Yanna was extremely friendly-with great recommendations! The crab cake dinner was not super crispy - l most as if it was baked instead of fried. It came with 2 smaller crab cakes and a side, so it was still filling. Yanna graciously brought us some appetizers off the specials menu too - the garlic butter clams. They were delicious - I wanted to drink the broth! I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
The seafood is very good here. I've loved their oysters & ceviche. The couple of times I've ordered meat dishes though (molasses braised short rib and chicken schnitzel), they've been misses. My 5 year old (who is a big foodie) asked about the short rib "where's the sauce? This meat is really dry." I completely agree. I've also ordered the chicken schnitzel once, and it was under seasoned and too greasy. The service has been consistently great - attentive and friendly, We'll return but only for the oysters and seafood entrees - no meat.

Yelp
Came in on Saturday after working all morning at the restaurant I serve at and was absolutely exhausted and wanted to treat myself to a delicious meal. Hanks did not disappoint. Quite literally one of the best meals I've had recently. I had previously dined at the Wharf location and it's been on my list of places to go since moving to Dupont. Their fried oysters are out of this world good. I can't stop raving about this meal. Bartenders Michael and Walter were fantastic super warm and personable. I have plans to be back next weekend when my parents are in town and can't wait to show them how good this place is and try more menu items. I had the oyster poboy and oyster shooter too - I am an oyster lover and hanks is the best of the best. The sauce it comes with is Devine along with the old bay fries. All 10/10. Another note this place is huge!!! Much larger inside than it appears from the street with multiple bars and a large dining room. I'm an event planner so I just want to add this would be a great place to do a private dinner or party as there's so many different spaces. Keep rocking Hanks!

Yelp
Overall the environment was good, and all the food were tasty. The service was also very nice. The tuna poke appetizer was AMAZING! It is definitely a must try!

Yelp
Was great before..... I went recently for a graduation celebration. The seafood is great BUT the other entrees not so much. Actually it's the quality control. Ordered the lamb chops and the brought out a plate of bones. Yes bones or perhaps the chops from the skinniest lamb ever!!! Why would the kitchen think that's ok to serve? The manager came over and said they would replace and then took 15min to bring out the replacement. Meanwhile everyone else's entree was gone or went cold (cold seafood is just bad) Then they had the gall to charge the full amount for a bad evening Manager and Kitchen supervision needs to be improved .
google avatar

Yelp
Service was excellent. Food was mediocre at best. Not very accommodating to add-ons even though I was willing to pay extra for exactly what I wanted. Lobster bisque was disappointing. Overall, good experience. Not great. I don't think I would return though

Yelp
I've been home for a month back in the islands and I'm still craving this pasta dish! I was able to set a reservation online for 1 and was quickly sat upon my arrival. I was visiting DC with my daughter and had a week to myself while she was at the college. This restaurant came highly recommended from a FB group I'm in called Washington, DC Travel Tips. The staff were welcoming and very sweet. I had a good book to keep me company and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I can't recall which drink I had but it was so good! The atmosphere gives off date night vibes or a night out with friends.
google avatar

Yelp
Love a good seafood and bottomless mimosa brunch! Meeting my daughter's friends and loving the atmosphere and service here! We got the 2 hour bottomless mimosas but quite a few of us got the build your own (checklist menu) bloody Mary's as well. Many of us like loved the crab eggs Benedict, and heard the smoked salmon platter diy bagel was great and another had the "perfect amount" shrimp and grits. Overall an amazing fur brunch.

Yelp
This place was delicious. I would go back at anytime. The oysters were fresh and delicious. Happy Hour was a great deal. If you are in the area you should hurry on over!

Yelp
Always love Hanks. Was nice to be able to sit down before all of my party was present! Thanks! Cocktails were excellent, the Mocktail was ridiculously good. Crab dip is a must have, would love more dipper options than just chips though. Fish and chips wax excellent, the fish was fried perfectly, super tender, not overdone. Oyster po boy was ok, the oysters were great, but the bread was not the typical French po boy bread and the greens & sauce were meh. I guess I just love the original style with French bread, lettuce, tomato & remoulade. Overall though, everything was really really good. Food was hot, fast, and everyone was super nice. Great location, pretty good street parking relatively near.

Yelp
Immediately when we sat down, we were greeted with such hospitality and friendliness. The service was attentive and never pushy. The Say Jalapeño to My Little Friend! was refreshing, but still sweeter than I prefer- the jalapeño and tajin helped. Salty Wolfe Oysters were so fresh, not briny, and we thought each kind was better than the last. Shrimp Cocktail was plump and deveined. Lobster Roll was a generous size, buttery, and the bay fries paired perfectly with it. Fish and Chips were good, crispy outside and soft, light fish- not greasy/oily. Great casual dining, reasonable prices for the quality!
google avatar

Kelly D.

Yelp
Always a good time - especially during their Happy Hour. Now, back when my husband and I lived downtown years ago we absolutely loved their $1 oyster happy hour. We recognize that a lot happens in 10 years and post-Covid probably still has great effects on restaurants and their prices. However, I'm happy to say we really enjoyed visiting while in town. We jumped around the menu from a selection of oysters to shishito peppers. All were comforting and delicious - as were the drinks! Cheers to everyone at Hanks in Dupont and happy to see it survived the pandemic. Service was on point and it was a lovely stop on our food tour around the city as we soaked up our time before heading back to Texas. Can't wait to visit again!

Yelp
Love Hanks! The atmosphere is high casual with a very old school New England country club vibe. A beautiful antiqued mirror behind the bar. Judging from menu craft cocktails and a wide beer selection prevail. There were at least 5 lagers. Had Narraganset lager and Monopolio lager . Both very cold and delicious. I like the Monopolio best, Ordered the cod fish tacos (taco Tuesday), lobster deviled eggs and peel and eat shrimp. Everything was fresh and delicious. Some of the glassware is really different and cool. I heard about the delicious punch on weekends (so church lady) and I think it would be a great spot for a big brunch group or to bring parents. Small touches like fish crackers, chocolate and mints show they care. A neighborhood classic for sure. Service was friendly and manager stopped by to talk with us. Felt at home. Will be back.

Yelp
Happy Hour done right in DC! Every weekday Hanks has a happy hour from 4-6 which includes a small menu of apps and oysters and drinks for a steep discount. I love stopping by for oysters and a beer after a long Tuesday! Their oysters are always salty and fresh with a tangy mignonette. If you're looking for something a bit more filling, they have three slider options which are mini versions of their shrimp and oyster po boys. Those are great to share with the table and are loaded with seafood! Also, don't sleep on their sautéed mushrooms! They are doused in wine, garlic and butter. I could have eaten three orders of that side alone! The bar area is small so get their early for a seat and sit back, relax and enjoy their delicious offerings!

Yelp
Wonderful service! I read through a few reviews prior to going here and saw someone said great things about the fried clams. To our disappointment, the fried clams were part of a larger meal for 6 people but I thought, I'm just going to ask if you can get those separate. Our server was very kind and said he would check. Not only could we get them but he said they could do just the fried clams as a small plate or they could make it a dinner with Cole slaw. My boyfriend was very happy to hear this and went with the meal. I ordered a lobster roll. It was delicious and also manageable to eat. Sometimes they are overstuffed and it makes it hard to be a hand held option. The old bay seasoned fries were quite tasty. I should also add that they bring a small bowl of goldfish to the table to start. We also ordered hush puppies that came with an excellent sauce. Everything was very good. Our server was quick and attentive. Our water was regularly refilled. At the end, they also bring out a bowl of chunks of dark chocolate. Would come back next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Visiting from San Diego California, I don't know how people gave this a 4 1/2 star rating. Food are mediocre, overpriced and service is poor. Unfriendly staff at the happy hour bar downstairs.
google avatar

Marianette K.

Yelp
Food Oysters delicious even though small. Chowder on the soupy side but still fed my soul. Fried oyster slider was delicious. Service Friendly and excellent Ambience Sat at the small bar 6-7 stools. Had other stools against the wall. Overall Good happy hour. Would come again.

Yelp
Had another lovely time at Hanks. Was visiting DC & had to go back. Was greeted warmly by Erin and Eric was our fabulous! I have to say each time I've been here I've found the atmosphere warm and inviting. The food was great. Started off with New England Clam Chowder. Was delicious. It was tasty and very lite. They don't use heavy cream in it so makes it great for calorie conscious folks. While my partner & enjoyed it, I would have preferred a little heavier mouthfeel. Nice amount of clams & potatoes. Next my partner had the lobster roll & fries. Delicious and just the right portion. I had the fried oyster plate. OMG, they fry the oysters to melt in your mouth perfection! They provide tartar sauce with it but I think a good cocktail sauce would be better paired. The fries were fantastic too, and I love the coleslaw. Drinks were tasty. The first one was new, something called we don't talk to Coco??? It was tasty and pretty but it was thin. I'd prefer a creamier mouthfeel but perhaps they're being calorie conscious. I had it replaced smoked margarita with a sugar rim. Loved it. They had desserts offered but we were so full we didn't even bother to look at the options. And they provide you with complimentary chocolates at the end so it's the perfect touch. Another winning evening at Hanks. And our server, Eric, was entertaining and made great recommendations & was very personable! Great job.

Yelp
Definitely suggest dining there the staff was great, the bartender was very knowledgeable about her oyster, Bar Back was great on clearing my plates and the beverage manager/ GM was great very sweet and kind.

Yelp
This is probably one of my favorite spots in DC. We came here on Sunday night and early and were the first customers to be seated since we were looking to kick a hangover, go figure ha. So we ordered a few dozen oysters, with hanks having such a great selection we couldn't resist to try them all! I was a big fan of the lobster deviled eggs, they were definitely different from Most other places I've had them at. The Mac and cheese was delicious and definitely a go to for next timers the tuna tartare was also on point! We even had the crab dip as well, I know we ate like we were a party of 6, but it did the trick. All of it was incredible. The espresso martini there was extremely good as well. The service was five star all the way through. They were super friendly and super knowledgeable about the oysters. They even stopped by for some great conversation. I highly recommend hanks anytime you are in the area.
google avatar

Kit G.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place. We were in town for a conference and looking for oysters and a quiet dinner. We were darn fortunate on a cold winter eve. 2 dozen assorted oysters to start. Just perfect. A pasta and clam special in a garlic-butter-wine sauce. Awesome and perfect for dipping their hot toasted French loaf bread. Wine and tequila for drinks. Stuffed and happy. Great service, nice chat with manager, couldn't be more pleased!!! If it had been warm, there was an abundance of outdoor seating. We/me will be back.
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
I was feeling a bit down and needed a pick me up so we quickly made a Saturday 4:30pm ressy - certainly didn't need it as the large restaurant was quite empty. There's a lot of outdoor seating as well. We started off with a Bloody Mary and the seafood plateau. It includes oysters, clams, jumbo shrimp, ceviche, mussels escabeche, and chilled Maine lobster. Everything was very fresh- stunning presentation. I love seafood towers and was not disappointed here. The ceviche left more to be desired but the rest of the plateau made up for it. We added another half dozen Washington oysters which were sweet and juicy! Only got a snap of the plateau but here's the rest of what we ordered: Lobster Bisque - wish this came out hotter. It was a bit too lukewarm for my liking. Had a couple large pieces of lobster in a tomato based broth and it was savory. It wasn't all that special though. Just your regular bisque. Arugula & Citrus Salad - this has a great tangy and sweet kick to it, filled with oranges, mangos, avocado, shaved red onion with a guava vinaigrette. Never had guava in a vinegar before and I loved the tart mixed with arugula's bitterness- it's a well balanced salad. Our main course that we split is the pan seared rockfish. It sat on a bed of butternut squash risotto and sautéed spinach. The risotto was very reach and creamy but it was a bit nauseating? Not bad but I couldn't take more than 3 bites. The rockfish itself was delicious- the crispy skin was delicious! They brought us dark chocolate to end our meal and I loved the little things they give you- like their small dish of goldfish too! Service was great- our waitress was very attentive and checked on us frequently throughout our whole meal.

Yelp
Visiting from the south and came here during Police Week 2023. I am so glad I came!!!! Between Eric, our waiter who was A M A Z I N G, and the taste of the food, I was very very pleased. We sat upstairs in a private room which was nice since we had a fairly large party. We were away from the crowd downstairs and had a way to just sit and laugh and enjoy each others company. I ordered the lobster roll with the old bay fries and I DEVOURED the whole plate. I got a drink that I didn't care for so I asked Eric for a custom drink that "made me think of running on the beach towards a handsome man with dolphins swimming nearby" so Eric went to the bartender and crafted what can only be described as "perfection". What was the name of the drink? 'Running on the Beach', I have no clue what was in the drink, I just now I left in a very friendly mood and fully satisfied. So with that being said- if you are ever in DuPont Circle- please do yourself and taste buds a favor, swing by here and let Eric take care of you.

Yelp
Their oysters were so good that I initially got only 6, and had to order 6 more. They were fresh, chilled nicely, well cleaned and divine!! I sat at the bar for happy hour and also ordered the house margarita which had mango and loved it! I appreciate the little details that the bar tenders put into making the drinks and will certainly be back again!

Yelp
The crab cake eggs benedict was so flavorful and delicious, the eggs were cooked perfectly runny! Service was really good too

Yelp
Stopped by Hanks for dinner with a coworker. It was Wednesday evening. Our server was Jamie and she was nothing short of amazing! She was friendly, attentive, and helpful. We shared a soft shell crab appetizer, and I ordered a summer berry Negroni and the lobster roll. The cocktail was lacking the "summer berry" flavor, and the Campari was too overpowering for me. I wanted to try Hank's version of the drink to see if maybe the berry cut into the bitter of the Campari, but nope. I confirmed that Negroni just aren't my thing. No fault of Hank's, but if you're on the fence when it comes to bitter flavor in your drinks, I recommend skipping that one. The lobster roll was just what I had been hoping for. If I'm being picky, I would have loved more butter maybe to dip it in, but it was delicious just as it is. I'm a person who shies away from food that is still in the shape of the creature it was before it was turned into food on a menu. So when the soft shell crab arrived, I was hesitant to dig in. It was my first time trying it outside of crab mean already removed from the shell and mixed with other ingredients. This came fried up in a light batter. You could pick it up and bite into it without a fork but since we were sharing, we dug in with one. The sauce on the side is so good, I stole the rest to dip my fries in. Another favorite touch is the chocolate pieces at the end of the meal. All in all, I would come back. And I would most definitely come back if I were promised Jamie could be my server again!

Yelp
Happy Hour at Hank's Oyster Bar was our first stop after landing in DC. Good food, great drinks, service was superior, and the R&B playlist was unmatched. A must try 10/10!

Yelp
Food, service, cocktails were excellent. Did not know the closing time and came in with a larger party. Everyone was so nice and sat us and served us quickly. To be respectful we ate and wrapped it up quickly. It was a great experience.

Yelp
Came to DC for the memorial weekend. One stop on my many adventures between DC and MD was this restaurant. And I am glad I did. Me and my guest did not have a reservation so we opted to sit at the bar until a table was available. We came on a Saturday during brunch. The hostess was pleasant but Chad stole the show. His drinks were amazing. Mine was one he made up and it was sooooo good. Food was fresh and served quickly. Flavors were also on point. Our server was friendly and had excellent oyster recommendations. Very good. I definitely recommend and would come back.
google avatar

Cristina S.

Yelp
Lots of variety of seating options. Our favorite was being able to sit outside on the patio. The staff are very kind and inclusive. We came for Hapoy Hour and the drinks were great, but the oysters were not great. It just didn't satisfying my oyster craving, but that could be because they were Maryland and Virginia local oysters and I'm used to north Atlantic oysters.

Yelp
The food at this establishment is outstanding. Aside from a raw oyster appetizer, I had the Oyster Rockefeller Pasta. AMAZING! I'm still thinking about it. Staff was attentive friendly and hardworking. I sat at the bar so the ambiance was lively and social.

Yelp
Great place and atmosphere in this quaint location. I wish I remembered our waiters name because he was great from the get go. His energy was amazing and made us laugh throughout. He took his time even though busy, to answer every question, offer suggestions and wine pairings, etc. The appetizers were very good one of which he recommended which was the crab dip. We also had the sampler of oysters which I recommend if you want a tasting of different ones. The entrees were good, but after the appetizers, we were a little underwhelmed with the flavor of the entrees. The lobster roll was good, and my bf got a seafood pasta which he just wished had more flavor or kick to it. All in all though, this was a great place from the people to the drinks to the food.

Yelp
We started off with Happy Hour and ended up staying for most of the evening - and what really stood out to me was the excellent service from the staff at Hank's. A large group of us planned to meet at Hank's - when I arrived, I checked in with the lady at the front; she mentioned she wasn't familiar with a group meetup but directed me to two others sat at the bar who had also mentioned the same thing when they came in - they did end up being part of the group I was looking for, so I was glad she pointed me in the right direction. I was immediately greeted by the bartender and given a water and snacks (goldfish). It turns out the other half of the group were sat at a table outside, so after closing out, we joined them outside. What I appreciated was that the we were allowed to take our drinks outside (some places can be pretty sticky about this and only want you to have the drink in the same area, even after closing out your tab) AND they also let us take the snacks out. The server waiting on us outside was quite patient as we were a large group and took some time to make decisions. She knew the menu and made some recommendations, and when we asked for a variety with the oysters, she let us know what she recommended before putting the order in. Oysters were fantastic and the fries were SO good. Crispy and flavorful without being too salty. The servers also wiped the condensation off the table (from our glasses) each time they refilled our waters - honestly, just really nice service. When the majority of the group left, those of us remaining decided to go back inside to the bar. By this point, it was completely full, so we headed upstairs. We found a corner for us to stand, but the bartender came over and said he could open up the upstairs patio for us. It was such a cute space outside! And much less loud compared to inside. There'd just been a heavy downpour so they wiped the tables and chairs for us and took our orders. One of us asked for a drink we'd had downstairs, and though we were informed it's a separate bar and they had different drinks, he made it for her anyway! From top to bottom (literally) excellent service all around, and yummy food and good drinks! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Ordered one glass of wine - with tax and tip the total was $24.89. Credit card was charged $40.89. Fine. Mistakes happen. Called twice over three days to rectify, left messages (they don't answer the phone), and no one called back. Come for the overpriced wine, stay for the credit card fraud.

Yelp
This is a belated review from when we came to Hank's around Halloween. I still remember the sweet service Walter provided us with at the upstairs bar. They went out of their way to make us feel truly welcome and turned what could have been an average meal into one that was unforgettable. So belated thanks to them and all the staff here.
