"Named for the year Franklin was founded, 1799 is a date-night destination inside the Harpeth Hotel. Chef Thomas Tuggle heads up the kitchen here, doling out a robust Southern and Creole-influenced menu that includes plenty of seafood, game, and produce from local farms and outlets. On the menu: freshly shucked oysters, elk carpaccio, steelhead trout, a fat-cured bison strip, and heirloom carrots with Leiper’s Fork honey." - Eater Staff, Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

It was a wonderful surprise to walk into 1799 and discover such a beautifully decorated restaurant. The romantic touches throughout truly set a special mood. You don't always associate hotel restaurants with such a quaint and inviting ambiance, but 1799 certainly delivers. The exceptional service was the next highlight of our experience. Timmy immediately made us feel comfortable and promptly brought us some of the dishes we were eager to try. And the food! Everything was absolutely delicious and incredible. From the warm bread to the decadent dessert, every dish was tastefully prepared and presented. A special shout-out to the general manager Sarena A. for making us feel so welcome and at ease. As local Franklin residents, we are keen to continue promoting 1799. We look forward to many more memorable meals here!

Google
The menu was recently updated and includes some cool flavor combinations. We enjoyed the blueberry mustard and honey whiskey dips with the pork belly as well as the picked strawberries that adorned the asparagus side. The bison Land dinner options were both tasty, the melanese shown. My most favorite of the night was the au gratin potatoes, done perfectly and a solid portion size so you could enjoy every tasty bite. Service was a bit slower, so you won't feel rushed but don't come if you have somewhere to be after in a time crunch. It felt very European so the focus was on relaxing and enjoying the food and company.

Google
This restaurant hasn’t received the recognition it deserves. They are not slow in preparing the food at all. Breads are ready as soon as you are seated. The crispy pork belly appetizer impressed me, and the pork rib eye as the main course was truly a feast for the senses. Perhaps the most accurate comment from other reviews is simply: yes, the drinks are strong.

The food was interesting and delicious and the atmosphere was lovely! Serena, the manager was wonderful and checked on us often. The busboy told us that they wanted us to have a great experience and the chef even greeted us on the way out! The only negative (and a main one) was our server, Scot. From the start, he was short and not friendly. When we asked him if anything was wrong, he said he was just "very busy". He couldn't get away from the table fast enough each time he came (and we did nothing to warrant it). Didn't explain anything about the menu (while we heard the server next to us going over all the details to her table). When we asked for salt and pepper, he literally slammed the salt shaker on the table (from behind his back while dashing off). Pepper was never offered. Only writing this because 1799 could be one of the best 5 star restaurants ever; if all the servers were made to hold the same standards as their best servers.

Ordered the 32 ounce tomahawk and halibut (11 ounce claimed) expecting to be completely full by the end of the meal, but the tomahawk came out lukewarm with maximum 15 ounces of meat, and the halibut was maximum 6 ounces total (we were told another entree would be too much for four people). Left extremely hungry after waiting over an hour for a subpar food experience, especially considering how expensive the tomahawk was! The restaurant itself was gorgeous, and our waiter was extremely nice, but the food just took far too long. We may have caught them on an off day, but there are far better places nearby with faster service.

Google
First time there and we enjoyed every second of it. Excellent service, lovely patio, great restaurant room, arranged with style and class. Food was clearly above our expectations: we always try eggs Benedict as a reference, wherever we go for brunch, and they were just the best we ever had in and around Nashville. Prices were really fair, which is rare too. We’ll definitely go again.

Everything was absolutely amazing! Hard to know where to start. Atmosphere and vibe very nice. Great live music from the adjacent bar where we had a drink before dinner. Music by Brian Ashley Jones and Melanie Jean. Bartender, Caleb, was great. Provided us as first time visitors with lots of helpful information. Food and service were great. Our server Caroline helped us navigate the menu for a perfect meal. Great unique Chef creations. Food presentation, portions, flavors were all perfect. Wedge salad, small pasta appetizers started things off. We added ‘bread and butter.’ Bread was made using a whiskey mash from local partner, Leiper’s Fork distillery giving it a unique flavor and texture not to be missed. Cedar planked salmon was my entre and it was perfect. Cauliflower with quinoa and cashew butter was superb. Also, you have to save room for for one of the amazing desserts. General Manager, Sarena, was kind enough to stop by and make sure everything was perfect. It was!!! Probably one of the best meals and dining experiences ever!

Google
Way over rated for what it cost to eat here. Service was not too good, didn't even refill my kids glasses after their first drink. Never asked if we wanted more drinks, the best part was the atmosphere and the Cornish hen dish. Also, we had shrimp and grits, two orders and one was very watery and the other good and so not very consistent on quality. The Branzino was super dry and over cooked. Sweet Onion bisque was delicious. Would I come back? possible so, but when's there's better eats downtown franklin may look elsewhere.

Yelp
We had reservations but the bar looked inviting so we sat there. The bar staff did such an amazing job with the high volume of drink orders. Our Manhattans were perfectly crafted thanks to Ashley. We started with the oysters. The smoked onion mignonette was a fantastic blend of the sweetness of the onion with the smoke plus acid of the vinegar. It was so rich I could have eaten it on a piece of bread. Our 2nd course was the burrata and beet salad. The burrata was not the traditional round offering with soft center but more of a soft mozzarella. The beets were perfectly cooked. They were slightly overdressed but still delicious. I had the scallops over mushroom risotto. I love it when my scallops are perfectly seared with soft and light centers. The chef hit the mark. Risotto was creamy and tasteful. My husband had the lamb shank and creamy polenta. He didn't speak very much and he did share a bite. It was rich and tender. The polenta was soft and drizzled with a lamb jus and decadent. Speaking of decadent - we shared the sticky toffee pudding. Yum!!! We will definitely back and I think you should too!

Yelp
We stayed at the Harpeth and had dinner here on a Friday night. We had a group of 10. The dining area was about 50% full (it was mid-January). Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. We were seated at 6:30 (ordered relatively soon after) and our entrees didn't arrive until after 8 pm. It was the longest wait I've had for food in many years. Our server was apologetic and said the reason for the wait was that two other large parties were seated around the same time as us. The food itself was disappointing. The filet our friend ordered medium came out rare (deep pink). The bison New York Strip had decent flavor, but lots of fat and also gristle in three parts. The sides that came with our entrees were small and uninspiring. Overall, portions were on the smaller side and no one came away saying they enjoyed their food. My wife was asked if she wanted anchovies on her salad; she had said no and yet the anchovies still came out. We didn't order appetizers due to not finding any of them on the menu appealing. The dessert menu also didn't appeal to any of us, plus we had already waited so long that we walked nearby for ice cream. At this price point, I expected much, much better.

Yelp
We ate here tonight to celebrate our anniversary. This is located in The Harpeth hotel and is a hidden gem. This place is amazing! The service was top notch. Food was amazing! We shared the fondue plate, and then ordered the Bison Strip and Rainbow Trout and shared the potatoes au gratin. Restaurant is well decorated and quiet.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
The food, amazing. The service, incredible! We had the bison and lamb porterhouse. Great whiskey list. And don't skip on the grain bread! Espressos and carrot cake was the perfect ending to our night.

Yelp
I joined fellow Harpeth residents for the unveiling of 1799's new seasonal menu last night. The ambiance was certainly beautiful; our server was excellent; the au gratin potatoes were superb; and the bread service was good; the trout - on the other hand - was thin, dry and tasteless; the mushroom tart was disappointing, with little flavor; the carrots were just okay; and the strawberry sorbet was lacking the flavor of strawberries. Overall, after ordering a wide variety of items, I would say my friend's and I were generally underwhelmed. We were there to be supportive and enjoy some new selections. I personally surmise, however, that no amount of new items on a menu can distract the attention of hungry eaters away from poorly prepared food.

Nina C.

Yelp
Ambiance good for a girl's night out, special dinner with a partner and family. I loved the table bread, drink and dessert with my least being my main course, the pork ribeye. Nothing bad about it, but it didn't super wow me. Our waitress was great and attentive.

Pat G.

Yelp
Great food. New menu! Service was great. Timmy was very good even though extremely busy. Everyone was super friendly. Loved the atmosphere and such a great experience!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Service was great, but unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for the travesty of cooking we experienced. For starters we got the Brussels and the Pork Belly. The Pork Belly came out room temperature, far too sweet, and the Gouda polenta was cold. The Brussels were soaked in sugar, basically soggy without any earthiness or flavor from the sprout left. The Bison I order for a main was fine, but the gnocchi my wife ordered were possibly the worst gnocchi I've ever tasted in my life, They were like flavorless, tough, overcooked cubes of potato-based culinary despair. As someone who makes gnocchi regularly it's not that hard, but if you pride yourself on making in-house pasta do it right. Off-the-shelf Kroger gnocchi would've been an improvement. Our waitress was again very accommodating but man, that should never leave the kitchen again.

Keith B.

Yelp
Food was pretty awful. The pork belly was all fat. The pork chop was overcooked, cool and half gristle. The fried mushrooms came out cold and stale. They were inedible. I probably would have said something had the waiter come around to check. I've been here numerous times and doubtful I'll be back. Kitchen was a huge letdown.

J J.

Yelp
Had dinner with a friend in Franklin. What a beautiful building and restaurant. The bar was great as well. Dinner was in the private booths with curtains which made for a cozy and quiet experience. Server was attentive and very nice. Drinks were great but a little slow. The Brussels were solid but not my favorite I've had. We ate from the seasonal menu with the Beef Wellington. Very delicious. Dessert was the Kentucky Butter Cake and Espresso Martini. Can't go wrong. Every seasoned well and cooked. Would return.

Chip C.

Yelp
Food was delicious, service outstanding and the atmosphere was incredible especially considering it's just off the lobby of the Harpeth Hotel. We ate there because we didn't know where else to go and boy were we glad we did!

Josh H.

Yelp
It is a nice restaurant. The food is good. The steak was cooked perfectly and had good flavor. The service was great. The vibe inside was where it all went wrong. The vibe inside was strange. No music, no people, just awkward silence. I probably wouldn't go back unless it was a necessity.

Michael S.

Yelp
We stayed at the Harpeth for one night for a quick weekend as a first year wedding anniversary getaway while the grandparents took care of the baby. We had an amazing experience at the hotel, the restaurant was just fine. The hostess was great she congratulated us on our anniversary and was very sweet. The server was okay he seemed very rushed. It was dinner time on a Saturday so I get it, but still, slow it down a bit man! Now to the meal: The food was... interesting. For a starter we got the crispy pork belly and it was anything but crispy the glaze was nice but the piece of meat felt very gummy and rubbery and a bit underdone without the proper fat rendering. The wine, I know how restaurants up charge for wine. I'm not going to pay 150$ a bottle for a 40$ bottle I can get from Kroger. We got the only cab they had in a glass and I will say for it being a 16$ bottle it was really good. The pour was great on it as well. I had the caesar salad and I was expecting, like anyone, a cold crisp caesar salad. What I got was a stack of leaves that were charred and warm that i had to eat with a fork and knife. I think it there was an intention to have this upscale salad experience but the execution is what came up short. the salad was semi crisp but the warm-ness really threw me. It seemed to me like they were trying too hard to be this extremely fine dining experience but I would have preferred a basic cold caesar salad. The steak was cooked perfectly I will say that. Medium rare with a good crust the only thing I would say that would be a slight criticism was it could have used a pinch less salt. Other than that it was great. My wife got the gnocchi and it was just fine a little drab but nothing terrible to complain about. We got a dessert which they said was on the house which was very sweet of them to do that. We got the crem brûlée and it was soo good! Between the steak, the wine and the dessert that's what gave this an overall positive experience. Would I recommend this restaurant well, only if you're staying at the hotel and don't want to leave the premises like we did. If I were to go back knowing what I know now, we definitely would have went somewhere else. I knew I was taking a risk with a hotel restaurant but oh well such is life.

Aura G.

Yelp
The presentation of the food and overall ambience is on par with a fine dining restaurant, but for $170, the food and experience is not up to my standard. Parking is a hassle. If you are lucky, you may find street parking, but there are a couple paid lots in the area. We paid $20 for 2 hour parking. If you are early for the reservation, you won't be seated until it is your exact time. We started off with burrata, quail, and complimentary cheese popovers. The popovers were delicious and remind me of Brazilian cheese bread, which is slightly chewy like mochi. The $20 quail was very underwhelming and small (duh). I was hoping for better seasoning or something else that would make it more exciting. The burrata was okay; it is just a typical cheese and bread plate with crispy salty prosciutto and peach slices. We both ordered scallops and were hugely disappointed. It took nearly an hour for us to get our meals, and when we did, there were multiple issues with the food. The scallops were over cooked and over salted, and the risotto had very little flavor and was watery. We ordered the creamed spinach side, which had more sausage chunks than spinach. The potato side was alright. It's unfortunate we had to wait so long for our entrées. By the time we received them, we were asking for the check and rushing to get back to the car before our parking expired.

Dawn M.

Yelp
Delicious wagyu burger! Enjoyable live music! Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Notably, Bailey B and Gabe added to our Wednesday evening dining experience. Only negative, the room temperature was freezing cold!!! Made the experience less relaxing. Everything else was terrific, especially the tasty food

Darian S.

Yelp
Visited multiple times and both the craft cocktails and menu is awesome. Service has been fantastic every time. Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed.

Tom B.

Yelp
We had a great experience; the food was all delicious, and Caroline's service was great. We enjoyed prime rib, bison strip, bucatini, scallops, and a wide selection of appetizers. They were all great. It's pricey, but very enjoyable.

Jacob B.

Yelp
Great food, great service, and great ambiance! Pricey, but worth it for a special occasion or a splurge!

William W.

Yelp
Add this to the litany of restaurants overrated by Franklinites, only to lead to disappointment, fail to live up to the hype, and make you wonder what locals are thinking. Put 1799 Kitchen up against comparable high-end eateries in Nashville and it pales in comparison. When I spend $300 for two people, a restaurant should be a lot better than three stars! The buttermilk fried quail appetizer was the best thing we had all night. That thin, crispy crust surrounding such tender meat with sweet and savory flavors perfectly intertwined is so memorable. The charcuterie board was also good, but not on the level of Urban Grub and Husk. My wife had the Steak and Frites, so naturally I stole a few bites. It was good quality steak, a bit too salty and not as tender as it should be, but enjoyable nonetheless. This is certainly no Kayne Prime, nor is it Bourbon Steak. The frites are advertised as garlic parmesan, but neither flavor was very prominent. I'm a huge fan of flavored butters on meat and seafood dishes, but we didn't care for the herb butter on the steaks at all. I had the porterhouse special, a sizeable steak that runs well over $100. But the quality was disheartening, a tough steak lacking tenderness and almost flavorless. The herb butter didn't help. For that price, it should have been a far better experience. The lobster mac & cheese side dish looks incredible on paper, with large chunks of lobster meat over Campanelle pasta in a seafood Mornay sauce. I suppose I was anticipating the béchamel I make at home, an incredibly textured Mornay with beautifully cheesy flavors. But this sauce was hardly that. The lobster was also a tad chewy, but ample and sufficiently tasty. It wasn't enough to outweigh the bland sauce and overcooked pasta. There is no question the meal was enjoyable. But it wasn't the quality to which I'm accustomed in that price range. At every turn, I found myself eating good food but finding flaws and disappointments. The location is perfect, the interior is gorgeous, the service is impeccable, but the food needs a lot of work.

Michael W.

Yelp
So .... the food is good. However, the service is poor. The bar/restaurant is connected to the hotel, so many of the clientele are hotel guests. I live locally, and this was the third strike/you're out visit to 1799. I wanted to eat more. I wanted to drink more (assuming my wife was on the same page), but it almost took a flare gun to get one of the bartenders over to put the order in. The two barkeeps were not overly friendly or interested. In fact, as I sit here writing this review, my beer has been empty for five minutes. I am at the bar. There are five other people. There are two bartenders. What is wrong with this math?

Samantha W.

Yelp
Came here for a social family dinner. I had the special which was a lobster risotto, and I highly recommend. It was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. I also had one of their signature cocktails, the Paloma. High quality liquor with a strong taste. The service was impeccable and we were served by Scott, who is lovely and attentive. The ambience is very high-end and fancy but also comforting and relaxing. My only downside to the experience was that my dad had ordered the steak medium rare, it came out lukewarm and very over cooked (medium well/well). At the price they charge, I did expect a better attentiveness to the preference of the customer and an ability to adhere to that. Overall, if you are looking for a special night out or a fancy meal, I recommend 1799 and Scott as your server.

Brayton W.

Yelp
Use to be a regular and come all the time..they recently changed their menu. You are now paying more for less food. Very disappointing. Ambiance is great and service is awesome. If you go now you'll have a great time. But for people that have been in the past it's over priced for less food.

Steph R.

Yelp
We sat in the lounge area and were very underwhelmed by to food. We got the sad charcuterie board. The meat looks like it was just taken out of grocery packages and slapped on the plate - the meat was still stuck to each other. The French fries smelled great but were floppy and meh. I also got the wedge salad which was pretty expensive for how small it was. All-in-all I'd say the food was overpriced for the quality. We definitely expected more from this cool hotel.

Bryan H.

Yelp
We went there for brunch. 2 of us had the blueberry lemon pancakes. 2 of us and the Prosciutto eggs benedict. Most were petty good but not overly great. Potatoes on the benedict was just okay and it was a little dry. The service was the issue. Even though the server was nice, they barely checked on us but the wait on the food and getting the initial order took forever. We also noticed tables getting their order after us when they came in 10-15 after we did. I really think he forgot to turn it in when he took our order. Salt/Pepper shakers really didn't work well either.

Tara M.

Yelp
Sooo delicious and love sitting in the booth with the curtains closed for privacy. The service was amazing

Shan W.

Yelp
Our family dined in 1799 several times, It was our go-to for guests in town to show off beautiful down town Frankin and have a great meal. Last night we were surprised by a new menu and were very disappointed with the food. there was very few options from a confusing menu. the starter menu was the highlight. The broiled oystters were strange and very fishy with the salmon roe. All our grilled seafod was chared and left an after taste like burnt popcorn. The restaurant is beautiful and the service is great but I would not want to revisit that menu. I would have preferred to provide this review directly to the restaurant but there are no options to contact them other than to make reservations.

Denise F.

Yelp
Taylor was an amazing waiter, so friendly and attentive. The ambiance was fantastic. The appetizers were so good, especially the Brussel sprouts and the Burrata. The pork chop was excellent. Loved the unique flavors in the rigatoni. Overall a wonderful evening. Definitely will visit again. The Hotel Harpeth has a very cool vibe. Loved the whole experience.

Reagan D.

Yelp
Jackson at the bar is an EXCEPTIONAL bartender. cocktails are superb and very personable. great service, 10/10, 5 stars, would recommend.

Tom R.

Yelp
They must own stock in Morton. The meal was food that was loaded with salt, almost making it inedible. It looked very good, tasted very bad. DO YOU UNDERSTAND CHEF?

Lisa S.

Yelp
The dinner here was fantastic. I had the halibut, which was a large piece of fish, tender with a crispy exterior. My husband's pork was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The server, Caroline, was knowledgeable and efficient. The after dinner drink Midnight in the Grove, was a frosty chocolaty delight. Live music wafted into the dining room, making for a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend this restaurant as well as the hotel.

Greg M.

Yelp
Great food, great people, great service!! One of the few restaurants around that is quiet enough to allow table conversation without having to fight the poor acoustics or background music.

Willy K.

Yelp
Maybe the worst restaurant in downtown Franklin. Twice we have tried the brunch, twice we were served food that wasn't just overcooked, it just plain sucked. We love the Harpeth hotel, but the 1799 needs to catch up.

Heather W.

Yelp
Review for brunch So I was completely underwhelmed by brunch but my friend really enjoyed her food. We both thought the hostess was rude or disorganized (you can decide for yourself). I would recommend reservations because they seem to expect them even when it is very quiet. Ask for a comfy booth (privacy curtains are a nice touch) or a table in the "whiskey barrel" section. One odd thing is that our waiter brought the wrong cocktail but didn't want to fix the mistake. Review for lobby bar Excellent design, limited cocktail menu So the building of the Harpeth Hotel has been a long process and the traffic and construction has been difficult but the hotel finally made a quiet opening. While I have not tried the restaurant yet I went for cocktails with a friend at the hotel bar...the restaurant was in between lunch and dinner so we couldn't order food. The daiquiri was simple, strong, and delicious. My friend didn't rave about her Paloma but we both ordered seconds! I would highly recommend relaxing in the library room to enjoy the fireplace or enjoy the courtyard view and people watch. Attentive service was appreciated but would have liked to learn more for future visits (I didn't see any information on happy hours, daily specials, brunch, etc) I am excited for the outdoor patio seating and courtyard areas . I hope they will offer outdoor service on warm days during the winter but I'm not sure if we have to wait until spring! I would definitely love to try the restaurant and it would be great to see a social hour or ladies special for brunch or cocktails! $36 for 2 drinks & tip is pricey IMO but it is an upscale atmosphere. The staff aprons, check holders, and leather bound menus are a nice touch! Overall a really nice experience and I look forward I my

Yelp
We made reservations for last night to celebrate our 5th anniversary and in the reservation it asks if there was a special reason for our visit which we said yes. This was not recognized at all. Odd because most restaurants that ask this, at least recognize it. This is not the reason for my lower review, however. Our service was poor all around. It took a long time to receive our drinks, we had to the flag the waiter down to ask for more drinks and our check as he rarely came by the table. The food was fabulous so really disappointed that the rest wasn't. We had Brussel Sprouts, Gnocchi and Elk Chop.

Karen L.

Yelp
Had never been in this hotel before as I'm a local who lives down the road. Had dinner for the first time with some girlfriends last night and was impressed with the space. I had crab cakes and the kale salad for dinner. I loved how the booths were very private with draping around them, we had a great time. The food was fine, nothing spectacular, but certainly tasty. The service was good, friendly and helpful. I look forward to my next visit!

Robert A.

Yelp
Stopped for a drink in the bar. Reasonable drink prices. Moved to dining room. Weird room - round with slats surrounding. Typical brunch menu with twists. Eggs Benedict without hollandaise. Biscuits tasted fried, jam lacked punch. Fried potatoes were unusual and good. Service was on and off. Had to ask for coffee. Other times was attentive.

Dax P.

Yelp
The grilled ceasar and Filet were amazing! Ordered at the bar instead of the dining area.

Sarah B.

Yelp
We've lived in Franklin in 25 years, and the Harpet Hotel has been downtown for I think almost 3 years at this point. We intentionally didn't visit when they first opened, because we knew they'd be so crowded. We had a rare Friday night date night in fall this weekend, (football schedules) so decided to go explore. The venue is lovely. The hotel is not huge, but very modern, clean, well staffed, and a very attractive courtyard that unfortunately had a private event going on during our visit. There was a musician playing outside the bar area of the restaurant that in my opinion was way too loud, but several folks seated around to be enjoying. When you enter the restaurant portion the flooring changes to what appears to be a rough hewn reclaimed wood, very interesting texture. The hostess was very nice, and we were seated actually a few minutes before our 715 reservation. Our booth was super yummy... Luxurious leather banquettes, a semi circle shape that would seat 5 or 6 very comfortably, surrounded by thick cloth curtains that thankfully lessened the noise of the aspiring vocalist nearby. Our server was Taylor, and he greeted us promptly enough. We ordered a Westhaven cocktail, their handcrafted cocktail menu was very nice, and two unsweet iced teas. It's always so odd to me when dining out and you order unsweet iced tea when you then have to follow up with the server after they are brought and ask for artificial sweetener. I guess some people drink unsweetened tea plain, but I don't know any of them. So after requested Taylor brought our sweeteners and we were on our way. We ordered the cornmeal crêpe cake appetizer to start. It was good, but honestly seemed a tad bit undercooked to us. The remoulade sauce was on the bottom, and the middle portion of the crabcakes oozed into the sauce so much it was a bit difficult to eat. There was a small little side of a very sweet roasted corn that was an interesting addition. For dinner, hubby ordered the tenderloin and I had the grilled quail appetizer. Ever since my weight loss surgery a year and a half ago, I'm a small plate gal or we will often share an entrée. We had asked the server to omit the jalapeños on the quail because I am very much a spice wimp, but sadly, when it arrived, the jalapeños were there. They were easily enough picked off, but it's just a little frustrating. It's also a little odd that he removed our appetizer plates after that portion, so I had to eat my quail on this tiny tapas plate that was overflowing to start, and nowhere to discard the bones. If he had come by once I realized this I would've asked for one, but alas he didn't. My quail was good, but also slightly undercooked. It was a tad bit rubbery and the flesh tone was a bit darker than I would've preferred. Hubby's steak was quite good, although I will say the portion was quite small. It would've been appropriate for me at this stage post weight loss surgery - but for $60 you expect a slightly larger fillet. The entrees came with parmesan puffs - their bread of choice. They were tough but tasty - suspect they had been microwaved slightly to warm. Very dense bread that was a tad doughy in the center... again seemed a bit undercooked. The accompanying spread had some sort of herb/tomato base. We preferred them without that... some butter would have been nice. I ran out of iced tea halfway through dinner, and apparently noone noticed. I did have water so not a huge deal, but nothing something you expect to happen at a nicer restaurant. We looked over the dessert menu, but honestly nothing appealed to us - choices were a peach meringue type option, a coconut mousse, a blackberry cheesecake, and a Smores cake. Thought those were very unusual and very specific appeal options. Maybe you think they sound delicious, just not for us. Overall not a bad experience, don't get me wrong, but for the prices you pay we just expected an overall better experience. Two appetizers, two Iced Teas, one cocktail, and the fillet entrée after tip was $200. We don't mind paying that at all, just this night wasn't really on par for that in my opinion.

Yelp
Scott waited on 8 ladies this morning for Sunday brunch! He did a great job serving. The mimosas were yummy and the banana bread French toast was a great serving size and rich. It was very good, but wasn't as crispy or eggy as I expected. Maybe that a personal preference. I do recommend getting something like bacon to help cut the sweetness of the French toast. I wish the coffee had a little bolder taste as well. Overall, I highly recommend 1799! The ambiance is nice, the decor is beautiful, the service is great, and the food is really good!

Yelp
Fabulous restaurant! Didn't get any images. Was enjoying the food and company. Wait staff friendly and informative! Pricey But worth it Great for intimate dinner - their booths offer privacy curtains and for large parties Great high end restaurant in Franklin, TN

Yelp
We can only recommend the bar. Willie was an amazing bartender. He knew the dinner menu well and made recommendations that were spot on! His cocktails were all perfect. Food was good. We enjoyed the Brussels and Pork Chop the most. That pork chop is amazing! Great night!

Yelp
My wife, myself and another met for cocktails and an appetizer. The lounge area was not even half full. Besides having to order a charcuterie board three different times. We were charged $1 for each rock of ice per cocktail. We never go back

Yelp
First time at 1799 and it was amazing. The service was great and the little private booths are a perfect touch. Majority of the menu was gluten free and the mocktails were a nice surprise. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
The service was the best thing about the restaurant - top notch. The food was alright, but not worth what they are charging. $86 for elk? I had to try this - it was cooked perfectly, but I've had elk as good or better for half the price. We did a sampling of the menu - four appetizers, a salad and one entree. Our meal for two people was about $275 after the tip (no alcohol). In hindsight, I wouldn't pay more than $175 for that same meal. The quail was my favorite appetizer, albeit a little too salty. The other appetizers were just okay - nothing creating a desire to return. My reasoning for three stars? There are too many other nearby options that are as good or better, and more reasonably priced.

Yelp
Ordered the Elk steak, the order came back severely overcooked, requested medium-rare came out very very well done. I showed it to them, they took my plate back with the sides. They came back, plopped the plate on my table with only the steak, none of my sides. This time the steak was extremely rare, it wasn't cool to the touch on the inside it was just cold. I called the next day, explaining the situation, they said they would call me back and never did. At this point, I had enough and decided I will never go back there again.. That being said pretty venue, but terrible food/customer service.

Yelp
Date night- Beautiful restaurant and quiet on a Friday night at 6:00. Loved the design of this place- really creative while providing what feels like a private/intimate environment. Food wise we had the Cornish hen, pork chop, lobster man c cheese and burrata. For dessert we split the cheesecake. Ample portions and gorgeous plating. The only item I wouldn't give an A+ to is the lobster Mac n cheese. It wasn't awful by any means but was on the dry side and nowhere close to Perry's Steakhouse's recipe down the road. We had an excellent server. Food arrived correctly and on time. Cocktails were interesting and delicious. Overall great experience!

Yelp
Definitely worth both a thumbs-up recommendation and another visit, but this was a 7-out-of-10 experience. 1799 has received very mixed and polarized reviews in its still limited life before and during the pandemic. The niche chosen by the business places it squarely in the schizophrenic world of a hotel restaurant with visions of grandeur in haute cuisine. Performance doesn't quite match the price on all dishes. Expectations at this stage? Tone it down a bit and realize that like most similar businesses in Middle Tennefornia able staff 1) are in short supply, 2) are on a variety of learning curves, and 3) will miss a step now and again throughout the service. Some are better versed than others and that's across the board from front to back. Welcome to Ye Ol' New Normal. The menu is a bit edgy even for my eclectic tastes. Seasoning of the prime rib was exceptional. Fish was cooked perfectly and, thankfully, an overpowering lobster sauce was served on the side instead of bathing the fish. The kitchen also hasn't quite got the line down on service temperatures. That should improve with staff experience. I've always found the bar craft good. It still is. Cocktails are interesting and beer and wine lists are adequate.
