Restaurant Mouth of the South Closes in Cabbagetown, Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"It appears Mouth of the South (MOTS) on Carroll Street in Cabbagetown closed Sunday evening, according to a tip sent to Eater Atlanta and a source with knowledge of the situation. MOTS opened last August in the former Cabbage Pie pizzeria offering sandwiches like smoked brisket and a vegan eggplant bacon, lettuce, and tomato, a variety of wings, including Korean fried, and salads on its menu. Attempts to call the restaurant result in a busy signal or go unanswered with a message asking the caller to “please enter your remote access code.” When reached via email Monday afternoon, a representative for the restaurant declined to provide comment on or a reason for the closure. However, a post to MOTS’s Facebook page and on Instagram Monday evening indicate a “final closing party” will take place this Friday, June 21, at 7 p.m. “We want to thank each and every one of you who were a part of our journey along the way,” the post reads. When the restaurant was first announced last February, Illegal Food’s Steven Lingenfelter and Laurie Dominguez — purveyors of the popular Hank burger — were consulting on the menu and the restaurant with MOTS’s owners. That consulting partnership dissolved in July 2018 when Illegal Food parted ways with the restaurant, claiming the owners wanted to move in another direction." - Beth McKibben

Yelp
YUMMY YUM CHA AT JENCHANS | I never would have thought I would enjoy a Chinese fusion meal but JenChan's has changed my mind. Whether it's for a late night drunken meal or a boozy Sunday "yum cha" brunch, JenChan's hasn't let me down. My first visit to JenChan's was one night after a few drinks down the street - i ordered the sweet and sour chicken, as is my go-to guilty pleasure and it really hit the spot. I felt like it almost tasted too healthy and lacked that dirty Chinese oil, and it made me feel slightly better about what I was eating after 9:30pm on a weeknight. They also have crispy wings and Asian fusion pizzas that are a ton of fun to eat. But my favorite experience at JenChan's was at Sunday afternoon "yum cha" (dim sum) brunch. Their menu is chock full of seasonal and local ingredients that they use in smart ways to create a cohesive bite. We loved almost everything we tried, especially the Vidalia Onion, the Sweet Potato Tostada and the Pearson Farm Peaches. The white rice with scrambled eggs allowed for add on's that were very basic (basically everything I can find in my kitchen right now) but really hit the spot. The "best damn coffee cake" was super tasty but a little on the dry side. We were full by the time we got to the coffee cake so we took it home and reheated it and it was so much better that way. And of course since it was hot outside (they have some limited dog friendly outdoor seating) we had to order the frosé and the ginger margarita slushie. Unfortunately they were already sold out of the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Whether it's for yum cha brunch or late night drinks & munchies, JenChan's has got it all. Definitely recommend if you're craving something a little Asian but also a little different from the typical Chinese takeout.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for a while and I'm mad I didn't go sooner. The ambiance is cozy and casual, the service was very friendly and fast (food comes out tapas style), and the food itself was a 10/10. The lemon pepper wings were SO delicious. Also loved the curry noodles & the Mongolian beef cheesesteak. If you like savory drinks there are tons of options -- I had a gin martini with a pickled cherry tomato that made me lose my train of thought. It was SUPERB. Can't wait to go back and work through the menu. (Sorry no photos I was hungry and it was too good to let my phone eat first)

Yelp
JenChan's is one of my favorite go-to's. If someone is in town visiting and we want a fun/different meal with a cute vibe and consistently good service, I take them here!! The dishes are meant to be shared, so it's somewhere great for groups too. The servers are super helpful and I've found they always ask if you've been there or not so that they may welcome you and offer recommendations. Some of my absolute must haves are the Vietnamese pork sourdough pizza. The crust has a dusting of chili flakes and the slaw on top is such a great contrast but amazing flavor. Any of the fried rices are good, but I'd have to say my #1 is the Mongolian beef (make sure to add an egg ). Their fry bread with fresh buratta, tomato's, and basil is fresh and a great mixture of textures and flavor. Also - their slushy ginger margarita is incredible and just one will get you pretty tipsy LOL

Yelp
Had a great time , loved the chill vibe and the food was amazing!!! Service was also top notch ,if I could give it a 10 star I would . We randomly stumbled upon the restaurant, when we got there they asked if we had a reservation, which we didn't. They told me that the wait time was probably 40 to 50 mins or they had a small bar area where we could sit. I had my toddler with me and I told them we were good with taking the bar area , the hostess told me she had to ask her manager if that was ok . She came back and said they were able to give us a table where we could use a high chair for my little one . We appreciated the effort in trying to accommodate us . We will definitely be coming back.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with a group of friends on a Thursday for dinner. Parking is tight in Cabbagetown but circle around and you'll find street parking! Inside, the restaurant is cozy and our group of 6 was seated quickly. We decided to order family-style and our waitress was super great with checking in and explaining how to order. I had a ginger margarita to start which was a refreshing drink! We ended up splitting the arepa, sesame fries, and wings. The arepa was so good and filling!! The sesame fries were a crowd pleaser and lemon pepper wings were delicious. For our entrees, we split a cheese pizza, Mongolian cheesesteak, shrimp fried rice, and glass noodles. The cheesesteak was hands down my favorite!! This is a can't miss. It was so rich and juicy and just plain yummy. The glass noodles were also so good and I loved the texture. Overall, love the cozy vibes, string lights, board games, and just ambience of JenChans. Gonna be a go-to for sure!!

Yelp
Love the variety of dishes, and numerous options available for vegetarians and vegans. Quality and taste of all the dishes we got were great, and would order them again. Staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to provide you a wonderful experience.

Yelp
My friends and I (6 total) came on a Thursday evening for a dinner and we got a table easily around 8pm! Parking isn't the best around here but good to know is that there is tons of street parking so you got lots of options! We order a bunch of things to share. For the drink I got the ginger margarita which was a nice and delicious twist on a classic! For the apps, we got the arepa, sesame fries and the wings. The arepa has to be one of the best things! The sesame fries were an obvious hit and I loved the lemon pepper wings which came with this delicious ranch. For the main, we split the Mongolian cheesesteak, the pizza, the fried rice with shrimp and the glass noodles. Each of these entrees were stunning but for me the standout was the cheesesteak. I actually can't wait to go back and get this to go like this might be a staple to go meal for me. These entrees were just on point. The vibes of this place are great and the staff are super nice!! Honestly so sad I discovered there this so late because I loved it. 10/10

Yelp
Great food and great service! JenChan's serves up Asian fusion street-style plates. We finally had some decent weather in atl so we took a seat outside and opted for the Asian crispy wings, Mongolian beef cheesesteak, and the egg rolls all per our waiters recommendation. Our waiter was on point with these recs - everything was delicious and very filling. My favorite was the cheesesteak which was full of flavor. The egg rolls are also huge and we ended up taking half home. This area is mostly street parking but we were lucky to find a spot nearby.

Yelp
What a shame I'm just now finding out about this place! My friend brought me here this evening and there wasn't a weak dish to be found. We had the Sesame Street fries, Vietnamese pork rice bowl (with vegan Beyond pork), tofu and mushroom lettuce wraps, and fried maitake mushrooms (lemon pepper style). You must get the fries. I could put that gochujang ketchup on my entire life . The chili crisp topping, and herbs round it out so well. Great dish IMO! The pork rice bowl was simple but I enjoyed the crunch of the slaw and the soft, chewy rice. The faux meat crumbles aren't something I eat often and they had a slightly sweet flavor that surprised me. The tofu and mushroom filling for the wraps was well flavored. It had that nice umami that I was hoping for. The fried maitake was my friend's pick and it was so good! The crunchy, fried coating is exactly what you want/expect. I'd love to come back and try another flavor. Thank you for having clearly marked vegan options!! Servers were kind and just the right amount of attentive. Decor is casual with industrial ceilings and lantern lighting. It feels warm and has character (without looking like it's trying too hard to be hip).

Yelp
The perfect weeknight hangout. I still dream about the honey chicken pizza and it's been at least a month since my visit. Will definitely be back soon

Yelp
We had dinner at JenChan's on Saturday evening at 6pm. I was able to make the reservation for a party of 4 the day before. It wasn't full when we arrived, but by the time we left, it was getting more packed. It's such a lively and cool vibe inside! Our server was nice and helped us decide what to order. We ordered 5 different plates to share (they come out to the table as they are ready), and all were so tasty: - dumplings - ahi tuna - Brussels sprouts - Mongolian beef fried rice - teaches of peaches pizza It's such a unique menu and place, and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
FOOD: Shumai ($12.50) - The shumai definitely tasted homemade and I enjoyed the fish eggs as a topping to elevate the taste. It was a great starter to the meal since it got us excited for the next dish! Coco Curry Jumbo Shrimp Noodle ($24) - Tbh I was visually not impressed when I first received the plate, but WOW the flavors really surprised me. The curry was such a great balance of nutty, rich, savory, and had a hint of spice. Did not regret getting this dish! Mongolian Honey Chicken Small Pizza ($15) - The pizza was what drew us to try JenChan's and it definitely lived up to our expectations. I wish I could remember our server's name because she made the BEST recommendation to add chili crisp to the crust. My boyfriend never eats the crust and he was obsessed with it! I would go back here just to eat this chili crisp crust. The small size was a great portion for 2 people and was super crispy and savory. 10/10 recommend trying the pizza. SERVICE: I'm sad I don't remember our server's name because she was the bomb! Aside from recommending the best pizza crust of my life, she was super attentive, friendly, and made our experience awesome! OVERALL: I can only speak for how it was at dinner, but I felt like it was a great date night or girl's night out place. It's pretty dim but has a great energy so it felt really lively while eating here. I docked a star because parking seems like it would be a pain during busy hours and it did not feel that safe to do street parking at night. They take reservations through Resy so make sure to check it out if you're going during busy hours!

Yelp
Stopped in around 2pm on a Saturday. We ordered a variety of items including 2 gluten free pizzas and wings. It took a very very long time for the pizzas. And the pizzas came out burned. They offered to remake it but we needed to leave. They gave us a giftcard for the issue.

Yelp
Parking by JenChan's is pretty limited but the neighborhood has free parking, but you might have to hunt a little bit. We grabbed a reservation a few days out but you might be able to pop in without one as it wasn't too busy. We ordered the shumai, chicken caesar salad, brussel sprouts, and mongolian beef pizza. The brussels were so good and crispy and really enjoyed these! The chicken caesar for the price was really crazy small and not worth. I mean the amount of chicken was good but there was definitely not a lot of even lettuce. Shumai I found to be just okay. The mongolian beef pizza was the star of the show which I really enjoyed! Definitely would have seen a bit more protein but it was delish! The vibes inside are nice and service is great as well. Would come back and try their other pizzas!

Yelp
JenChan's is the cutest neighborhood spot for drinks, brunch, or dinner. It's a fun casual ambiance that has something amazing for everyone! We came here for our date night before seeing a movie at Madison yards! Our server ( I think his name was taylor) we have had for both brunch and lunch and is outstanding! The brunch here is very yummy and fresh! I got the smoked salmon scramble with rice and added the hot sauce it was incredible! I also really recommend the pork curry if they have it. It is so tender For dinner, we got the wings! It was so crispy and delicious! My partner gf was excited at all the options for gluten free they had! He got the japchae noodles with protein! I got the Vietnamese pork pizza and the slaw on it was amazing! I got the small size and thought the portion was very big! It is a big on the oily side bc of the chili oil but I loved it. The last thing, there drinks are incredible. I got their frozen margaritas and oof you feel good after lol. Always have the best time here and can't wait to explore more items on their menu!

Yelp
We went on a Friday night, and the restaurant was very busy with a lively atmosphere. There was only a table available outside, and since it was cold, they offered for us to sit inside when a table opened up. The Brussel sprouts were delicious, crispy and flavorful. The coco curry noodles with chicken were also a hit. The pizza was just a focaccia bread with very little Vietnamese pork baked in. Overall, it lacked substance.
google avatar

Yelp
Still one of our fav places - SHH! Don't tell anyone! Service was great despite the Saturday 3pm crowd - Thanks Ryan! Vietnamese Pizza was impeccable. And choose the window seat if you can - perfect setting for the neighborhood.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place!! Went here for brunch recently and was so pleasantly surprised by their big menu. As you can see, the restaurant is super pretty and a pub-like vibe inside. Lots of pretty lights and fun decor. The service was great, our server was super friendly and accommodating while splitting our bill in various ways. For food, we ordered almost everything off the menu. Some of my favourite items were the tinned mussel tacos (not really tacos as they give you radish to wrap the mussels in, but the mussels themselves were so delicious and rich), the pork shumai (a little salty but amaizng overall!! And really big sizes too); crab fingers (loved them); tostada (it was very interesting mix of items and flavours but we really enjoyed them, especially the fried okra on top); egg custard (it was just an egg custard, but almost 5$ for one custard was a lil much). Some items that were okay or I would not recommend would be the biscuits and gravy (the biscuits were really mushy and had a very grainy texture. Gravy tasted okay); the pop tart (too heavy and i would instead just prefer a pb and j); the Vietnamese iced coffee (which was not really a Vietnamese iced coffee, was super watered down, and 7$ for a very tiny cup of it). Overall I really loved this place, it's great for groups to share a bunch of small plates :)

Yelp
Always loved Jen Chans but loved them even more when they brought our favorite sammich over from suki suki the Banh mi! The lasagna pizza blows my mind every time. We've also ordered and liked the bullgogi Philly & bullgogi Nd rice. Great customer service and very respectable ownership, love this they insure their workers and are transparent about it. Location is super cute tucked into cabbage town with warm modern decor.

Yelp
JenChan's is a great local spot to catch some quick bites. Super casual setting, the ambiance gives a chill and hipster vibe. When ordering your food, the server provides you with a piece of paper in which you mark everything you want to get. Cool concept, makes it easy and straightforward. Service was great by the way, super friendly people. Food came fresh to order and was delicious. I especially was a fan of the Mongolian beef cheesesteak and Asian crispy wings. Would definitely return! Great spot for Georgia State students as it's pretty close by and they have affordable prices. The only thing that sucks is the street parking. It's definitely a win-win if you can snag a spot, so hopefully you get lucky! :)

Yelp
During the meal we felt that there was a little too much honey on the pizza and Brussels but we both agreed we'd come back. I had a slice of pizza cold this morning with hot sauce and it was AMAZING. So I really am overall pleased with what we got. The kimchi was also good!
google avatar

Yelp
Unique and delicious food options up and down the menu! Parking can be tough in Cabbagetown, but this place is worth it!

Yelp
This was my second time here. I came the first time with my partner, and the second when my mom came into town to visit. Both times our experience was excellent! I had the curry shrimp noodles the first time and the chicken lettuce wraps the second. Both dishes were fantastic for what I was looking for- a more heavy rich fish and a lighter fare. The servers were kind and prompt both times we visited. It's a casual and fun atmosphere, and it is very loud inside when they are busy with dinner service (it was hard to hear each other talk across the table). Would come back again! I didn't take any food pics, but their bathroom obvs is selfie friendly

Yelp
You're not going to find another restaurant like this in Atlanta. The food is creative with bold flavors and unexpected combinations. I ordered the dirty south martini to enjoy with my meal and it was outside of the box but delightfully surprising! And the value is outstanding. And we ordered liberally - Chinese lemon pepper wing, loaded fries, Brussel sprouts, two pizzas, and drinks. The three of us dined for under $50 a person. I'm impressed and delighted that JenChan's is a part of the community.

Yelp
After wanting to come to JenChan's for quite some time, I finally had dinner here two weeks ago and it did not disappoint! Parking is a bit of a challenge here as it is all street parking on narrow streets. However, JenChan's is well worth the stress of parking. Service was really great and friendly. My friend who is gluten free had so many options of things she could eat and the staff was well-informed on dietary restrictions. Their drinks are so unique and have really eclectic names, and there are an assortment of games/board games to play while you are waiting or even during the midst of your meal. I highly recommend the cripsy asian wings-the perfect blend of sweet and spicy. I had the mongolian beef fried rice as my entree and it was great. However, I am looking forward to trying one of their pizzas in the future. Highly recommend coming to JenChan's if you get the opportunity!

Yelp
Unassuming when you walk by but boy does the restaurant deliver. Hostess and servers are super friendly. They clearly communicate and are happy to accommodate. Server gave sound advice and let us know when we had too much on our order, something i respect. The brunch egg roll with eggs, ham and cheese has to be the best egg roll i've ever had in my life. The dough and the crunch are unmatched. The salad was also excellent, really creative & beautiful. Dressing is bright, light, and refreshing. The dumplings were a mouthful. Like a hair too big in my opinion. Shrimp & Grits were good but it was missing something to bring the dish together. Did not like the mongolian beef cheesesteak, i felt the meat was really dry. Drinks were very good! Loved the bloody maria (w/ tequila) & the pick me up.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a nice dinner here on a whim because we could walk there. Parking is basically non-existent because Cabbagetown. But the food is really fun and tasty. The lettuce wraps were delicious and I want to go back and try the cheesesteak.

Yelp
Wow - WAT a FIND by my beautiful daughter! Took a trip into the city to meet up with my daughter - she found this place and yall . I was shocked . Even the hubby gave this place 5 stars and if yall know him - that is a tuff thang to do!! Our waitress was so incredibly kind and patient with all the questions we had - we arrived late due to ugly traffic and she was STILL nice to us - I truly wish I could remember her name to give her the proper thanks she deserves Jens Chan is the place to be - we had more than this I just didn't get to sneak a picture I'd say an all around favorite were the wings and their pizza what a yummy meal but everything had flavor and was so good & I'm ready to go back Ps : ignore my photography skills ‍ I'm tryin !

Yelp
I'm giving a 3* rating for my ToGo order. Despite the unfavorable parts of my experience, I would probably return for a happy hour. The fried maitake mushrooms with lemon pepper were perfection! The sesame street fries and burrata & fry bread were nothing special or something I would order again. You pay $12 for french fries drenched in Gochujang and herbs. Unfortunately, the Gochujang came directly on the fries (and placed at the bottom of my four orders), so they were soggy and squished by the time I got to them. I would recommend asking for the sauce on the side if ordering to go. The burrata and fry bread came with a side of tomato sauce that was EXTREMELY salty. Not inedible, especially if eaten with the burrata which cuts the salt a bit, but borderline. Lastly, the mongolian beef fried rice. The sweet & salty dish had a lot of flavor and I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't order it again. Other than the mushrooms, I feel like this is one of those situations where I just didn't order the right dishes. One thing that turned me off immediately about my experience was the lack of transparency with pricing. This is an absolute pet peeve of mine. The online menu prices on their website did not reflect the prices I was being charged. I was also charged a 4% health insurance fee, but it was not initially mentioned when I placed the order over the phone. I realized I was quoted more than I expected. I called back to go over the cost of each item and it wasn't until I mentioned that the totals still weren't adding up that the young lady brought up the insurance fee. I did not clearly see this listed anywhere on the website either. On top of this the food upcharge here is very high. It's a restaurant, so fine. All of this to say, I still would have chosen to order here knowing this up front. However, I don't appreciate when fees are imposed and prices are falsely advertised.

Yelp
The food was amazing with many delicious flavors! The dumplings were delicious and all the food that we ordered...pizza was great!!

Yelp
I found out about this place from a wing festival that posted their cola wings entry. I was intrigued and went to their site to see if it's a regular menu item, and though they weren't, so many other things on their menu sounded appealing. I went around 8 at night, and it was pretty busy, but I was sat quickly by the sweetest hostess. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, which is perfect for the warmer months and a small bar inside. A customer who said she was a regular advised me about the Mongolian pizza, and though it sounded good, I was torn between the Mongolian cheesesteak and their latest creation, a bibimbap pattymelt As mentioned, the place was busy, and I did feel a bit rushed by the waitress. She was super nice and polite but I told her it was my first time and asked for her suggestion between the two and she replied "I'll give you a moment to decide and come back." I decided on the cheesesteak since it had the same beef the other guest raved about, and it seemed safer. The wait wasn't long for the food despite how packed it was. Now for the food itself. The fries left much to be desired - they were greasy and overcooked. I had to rely on ketchup just to eat them. Now that beef on the cheesesteak!? Chefs kiss! I really wish I could just order it as a side dish. It's DELICIOUS! The cheesesteak as a whole was decent, but it played more of a supporting role to the superstar beef. The cheese lacked the gooey melted texture that I typically love on cheesesteaks, but I would still consider ordering it again. I want to come back and try the pattymelt and Mongolian beef pizza for sure. I'd just look into substituting the fries for something else and either getting it to go or visiting when it's less crowded.

Yelp
I came here with coworkers to hang out after a long work day. We ordered a ton of food, so I have to give the rundown. TL;DR definitely order the pizza here! The Asian dishes weren't as good, but we enjoyed our dining experience overall. When I checked the website, it was heartwarming to see how JenChan's cares about its staff. Ambience: fun Asian-inspired decoration, like lanterns and a fan. I definitely like the lanterns, but overall dim lighting, and the lanterns give a reddish tint to everything. Service: It was okay, the staff was friendly. We weren't satisfied with the chicken and they took it off the bill and were respectful about it. Cheese bread: I didn't eat, but the rest of my coworkers enjoyed it. Shu Mai: These are good. They are a decent size with a lot of flavor. A good amount of soy sauce on the bottom of the plate. Crispy Asian wings: One of my coworkers wasn't satisfied and thought the chicken was undercooked. The rest of them enjoyed it, and were fine afterwards so I think it was just a picky coworker. Pizzas: Lazzagna - this was the best! It really did taste like lasagna in a pizza form. Vietnamese Pork - This was good; the herbs and Asian slaw really gave a flavor reminiscent of Vietnamese-inspired cuisine. Mongolian beef - I did not try this, but the others reported it was great! Entrees Yook Baeng - "inside of a pork dumpling" - so I was disappointed about this dish. I may even say it was the least appetizing looking dish I've seen in a while. I guess I was expecting the "pork dumpling" meat mentioned in the menu mixed with the rice, so a rice bowl of sorts. Instead, it came as the "pork dumpling meat" in its own dish, a very small portion of rice that was VERY dry, and yu choy vegetables doused in soy sauce. The pizzas I ate were very good, which I keep in mind for my review. But as I mentioned above, the Asian dish I ordered was disappointing. My coworker ordered the Mongolian beef cheesesteak. He wanted me to note his feedback that the cheese was not distributed equally on his sub (all on one side). But other than that, the dish and fries tasted great.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening. Originally had a reservation for 5:45. Got there around 5:20 and had to leave an Uber due to not being able to find parking. Food: My friend and I split an order of the Chinese lemon pepper wings. They were pretty flavorful, but tasted even better with their homemade hot sauce (had a good sesame flavor). I ordered the Vietnamese pork pizza. It was AMAZING. I was hesitant because of the different toppings and I tend to stick to basic ones, but this was amazing. The chili crunch on the crust was perfect. Drinks: I ordered the ginger margarita. When the bartender said it would sneak up on you, HE DID NOT LIE. The ginger syrup covers the alcohol taste super well to the point where it doesn't taste like it at all. It was super refreshing. Service: The service here was great. We missed our reservation but were quickly seated when we did arrive. Our bartender was so sweet and gave the best recommendations. Even if the food wasn't as good, I definitely would go back just because of him.

Jen chans is a really cool spot with such a great vibe! weather was just perfect when we went and we got to sit inside near the open window, which was so nice service was really great, our waiter was so nice and helpful! we ordered their bibimbap melt and their endive pizza, which were both really delicious and would get again! the menu was really inspired with a lot of cool combinations, which really came out in the food we also got the fries which were good. only thing is that the parking situation is difficult to navigate, but otherwise we will go back !

Yelp
Food and Service was really good! See Sam at the bar. He is cool, very knowledgeable of the menu. Environment is cool and laid back. They also have outside seating.

Yelp
I was looking for an option for vegetarian Thanksgiving take home food. There's another popular restaurant whose name I don't have to mention that offers the service that I've used in the past. However I was getting kind of tired of using them. and their "vegetarian turkey" was really substandard in my opinion. Then I stumbled on Jen Chan's and found three different meals I could order for pick up. They were amazing! I could honestly feel the personal attention that went in to all of the wonderful food that I received. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the food. They were doing a booming business when I arrived for the pick up and I hope that they were extremely successful and do this again next year! Highest recommendation!

Yelp
4 stars mostly because of their drinks and service. To be fair, I've only eaten here once. Visited for a birthday occasion, side note: they don't do anything extra for birthdays (ie birthday candle / desserts) which is fine for those who prefer to remain low-key. Service was unbelievably perfect! Not too much in your face but definitely there if you needed help. We sat outside and during the middle of the day so we had a fly problem. No worries, though! They brought us a fly repellent spinning fan (see in pic). Server gave us 1/2 of our blended drinks so it won't melt too much, and gave us the other 1/2 when we were ready (so thoughtful). Ordered two drinks (they have a great drink menu) and three dishes. See more info below. Ginger margarita - favorite item of the day Watermelon vodka something blended drink - not as flavorful as the ginger margarita but still refreshing Sesame Street fries - too much sauce, didn't really like the ingredients together, somewhat spicy Crispy noodles - noodles were so crispy, must like cilantro because there's a lot, little amount of shrimp Curry chicken - didn't eat this personally but my partner said it was alright, he wouldn't order it again I would go back to try more of their vegan options and drinks.

Yelp
Kinda wanna tell all of Yelp about JenChan's, kinda wanna keep it as a lil secret. JenChan's has such a fun and creative menu that I can do my best to describe as eclectic with an Asian influence. I've only been for their YumCha brunch but it was so unique. It is kind of like dim sum style where you mark on a half sheet of paper with a little pencil what items you'd like and how many. The menu does change but I can't stop thinking about the five spice donuts and the lapcheong focaccia! Get 'em if they have it! Nicest staff and bartenders ever. I would love to come back for dinner and try their unique pizzas. They have a cooler full of ready made meals and sides that just need heating up which seems great to stock up for busy days during the week. Parking can be tricky since it's all neighborhood street parking off Carroll Street.

Yelp
Came in and was happy with the immediate vibe that the place had set. There are games on the side that anyone can choose from as they wait for their meals which was a nice little touch. We played a bit of Uno prior to our food arriving. The waitress recommended we try the fries as well as the honey chix pizza. The fries were very solid and definitely had a step up once we added the in house hot sauce. The honey chicken pizza was delicious and it was a fun mix of savory and sweet. Then, we also ordered the fried mushrooms as an appetizer, those were absolutely delicious. If you even somewhat enjoy the taste of mushrooms I would one million percent recommend those.

Yelp
Eclectic welcoming staff. Great food pizza and Chinese food ! Both done incredibly well. Love the pizza with the Chili crisp crust. Get it. The staff is very accommodating with the menu. Will help design a great bowl for you. Drinks are great Sam the bartender knows what he is Doing and will also help guide your menu choices.

Yelp
Delicious, unique pizzas at a reasonable price! Highly recommend...especially if you enjoy cuisines that play with fusion.

Yelp
We got pizza, fried mushroom and chicken wings... the food was okay but the service was a bit slow when I went. We had to wait more than 30min for our food it wasn't super busy or anything I think they just forgot our food. I liked the mushrooms tho

Yelp
If you're looking for a cute lunch spot near Reynoldstown, check out JenChan's! I went for Sunday lunch around 1pm and it was not too busy. Our server was friendly and gave stellar food recommendations to share between my partner and me. We ordered the crispy asian wings, char siu bao, and the mongolian honey chix pizza. The wings were fried to perfection! Char siu bao was okay. The pizza was really good! I love the creativity of fusion-ing asian with classic american cuisine to come up with something salty, sweet, and savory as well as crispy and chewy. I would go back for the pizza!

Yelp
JenChan's was fun, cozy, friendly and DELICIOUS! The dishes are sharable so we sampled the egg rolls (my favorite), the dumplings (my friend's favorite), the brussel sprouts (perfection), and the Crunch Wrap. All of the sauces are made in house. Definitely going back soon!.

Yelp
This restaurant had a feature in the Atlanta airport sky lounge and I enjoyed it so much. I made a note to visit it when I was in town next my husband and I enjoyed everything in the owner even shared with us how to make the sesame boiled peanuts. Unfortunately, ours were not as good as theirs.

Yelp
We found JenChan's watching the Netflix show "Hack My House". We made a reservation for 8:45pm on a Wednesday, but ended up being about 45 min early. Be prepared for little parking opportunities. We had to park a bit down the road, but the walk up the street is really nice and has shops, a beer garden and restaurants. The host (who was also our server) greeted us right away. We told him we had a reservation but we're early. He said no problem and that they were cleaning a table right now for us. We were sat a few min later and he took our drink order. I ordered a beer on tap and the fiancée ordered an Old Fashioned. The server came back and said they were out of the UPA I had chosen and suggested another one similar. He promised I'd like it and I did! It was great! However, I was about done with my beer and my fiancée still didn't have his drink. The bartender came over about 25 min after we had placed our drink order and told my fiancée they were out of the bourbon he had chosen. He chose a different one and his drink was delivered by the bartender right away with an apology for the wait. My fiancée said it was one of the best Old Fashioned's he's had so guess it was worth the wait! We started with the dumplings and crispy Asian wings. Both were superb! Wings were small, but we have noticed that at several places lately so I won't fault them for that. The flavors were awesome on both appetizers. For our entrees we ordered the Coco Shrimp Curry Noodles and the Mongolian Beef Fried Rice. The Curry says it's spicy. The fiancée loves spice. Me, not as much. I can handle some heat but this was too spicy for me. The flavor was outstanding. My fiancée absolutely loved it and said it may be the best curry he's ever eaten. He knows his curry too, so that's saying a lot! The fried rice was good, not great. I felt the beef was way overcooked and almost jerky like. It was okay, but idk that I would order it again. We will definitely be back not only for the chill ambiance and great service, but to try more of their menu items. Definitely check them out! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Had a great experience here. We ordered the Vietnamese Pork Egg Rolls, Vietnamese Pork Bowl, and the Curried Tofu Fried rice. Everything was tasty and very savory. The portion sizes could've been bigger though, especially for the prices... the Pork Egg Rolls were tiny and they sort of market it as 4 when it's really 2. And although the Vietnamese Pork Bowl was very savory, there was barelyyyy any pork with it. I was shocked. We also felt like they could experiment with the menu a bit more. The vibe of the restaurant is definitely trendy but the food didn't resonate with the same vibe (aside from maybe the pizza options which we haven't tried yet). The service was wonderful, our waiter was super kind and helpful. The ambiance is nice, nice lighting and atmosphere. They have a bunch of games you can play at your table if you wanted to. Overall, a bit pricey but still good food. Would definitely recommend. Probably will be coming back to try their pizza!

Yelp
Ok - listen, this place is ridiculous good. As in, holy smokes - I want more. We ordered Sesame Boiled Peanuts (soooooo good) Pork Shumai, Noodles (southern cap shrooms, lemon and garlic butter) Vietnamese Pork Egg Rolls. And, some amazing cocktails. We left full, happy and will be back. Stop searching, get directions and come here.
