Restaurant Mouth of the South Closes in Cabbagetown, Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"It appears Mouth of the South (MOTS) on Carroll Street in Cabbagetown closed Sunday evening, according to a tip sent to Eater Atlanta and a source with knowledge of the situation. MOTS opened last August in the former Cabbage Pie pizzeria offering sandwiches like smoked brisket and a vegan eggplant bacon, lettuce, and tomato, a variety of wings, including Korean fried, and salads on its menu. Attempts to call the restaurant result in a busy signal or go unanswered with a message asking the caller to “please enter your remote access code.” When reached via email Monday afternoon, a representative for the restaurant declined to provide comment on or a reason for the closure. However, a post to MOTS’s Facebook page and on Instagram Monday evening indicate a “final closing party” will take place this Friday, June 21, at 7 p.m. “We want to thank each and every one of you who were a part of our journey along the way,” the post reads. When the restaurant was first announced last February, Illegal Food’s Steven Lingenfelter and Laurie Dominguez — purveyors of the popular Hank burger — were consulting on the menu and the restaurant with MOTS’s owners.
