Best Biscuits in Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"The folks behind Red Sky Tapas & Bar in Marietta opened this restaurant in 2020 serving biscuit sandwiches and other breakfast and lunch items throughout the day, including burgers, fried chicken sandwiches, and hot dogs. Biscuits sandwiches here can come with fried chicken, vegetarian sausage, country fried steak, or hot links. There’s steak or sausage and gravy biscuits, too." - Eater Staff

Google
food so good i was compelled to write a review while i’m in the middle of eating it. wow, flavors are amazing. catfish was perfectly crispy, sausage gravy is perfect, cheese grits are CHEESY. biscuits are soft, buttery, delicious. the best part? affordable! $38 for catfish plate with cheese grits, chicken breakfast plate with sausage gravy, bacon biscuit, southern comfort biscuit

Shay Starr

Google
This is the most comfortable cozy homemade breakfast spot I’ve been to in a while. They are super friendly and welcoming. They have a great selection on comfy food. The biscuits are soft and warm. And their 1911 sauce can go on anything lol. You place your order and seat yourself. I recommend everyone to try this spot if you are in the area.

Google
Man, I tell you what. I just left with my to-go order and when I got hooooome….those first few bites were off the chain. I was excited to open my container and see the generosity. When I asked for extra butter on my grits… they did not skimp. I had enough to dip my biscuit in. Having my own like/hate with eggs, I’m always skeptical, but I was very pleased. This place deserves all of their 5 star reviews. Now THIS is breakfast. Thank you

Google
Excellent service. Very casual environment. Location is right next to Chick-fil-A, but Chick-fil-A doesn't have gravy with their biscuits and is more expensive. Breakfast is served until 11am and then they switch to a lunch menu. I really liked the sausage and egg biscuit, but I didn't like the fried catfish and grits. That's just my personal preference. There was too much bread on the fish.

Google
We love 1911 Biscuits & Burgers. A great breakfast menu, lunch menu and one of the best chicken sandwiches you will find. We love going there for breakfast. We especially love the veggie sausage and plain gravy. And those taters!! The eggs are always perfectly cooked, the chicken is hand, battered, hand dipped and fried to perfection. The portions are oversized and will presented. Terry and his team have assembled an extraordinary group of employees that are happy you there. When you pull in the parking lot, skip the corporate greed, long lines, pretentiousness and turn left into the 1911 in Biscuits in Burgers. You’ll be supporting a local business and family. Highly recommended

Google
I just happened to be in the area and stop by here for breakfast.. Go.. Service is amazing. They are so nice and this is some good ole eating... I'll definitely go back by.

Google
This place is so good! This will be my go to biscuit place now. Coming from Sandy Springs. Got cheese grits, chicken biscuit, sausage and cheese, sausage gravy, bacon egg and cheese and veggie egg and cheese biscuits. Put order in online. Order was ready on time and everything was there. That’s a big plus in my book for to go orders. Staff was service oriented making sure I had everything I needed for the to go order. Biscuits were perfect and so glad they have the veggie sausage option.

Google
Visiting from out of town and after looking around for a place to grab breakfast, we decided on 1911- and I’m so glad we did! The service was great- everyone was so friendly and I loved the cozy “small town” feel it offered even though you’re in the middle of the busy city. I definitely recommend the southern comfort biscuit and one of the vanilla cinnamon biscuits as well. Both were absolutely delicious- and I’ve been craving them both since we left! I hope to come back next time we visit the area!

Yelp
Great quality food. Better chicken sandwich than Chick-fil-A and I'm a Chick-fil-A fan too. Also their wings fall right off the bone and are very flavorful. Definitely making a trip back soon

Yelp
I came here with a client for lunch. The restaurant had a few people eating but was not very crowded. It had kind of like a diner feel and was very casual. I ordered the ultimate chicken sandwich and a sweet tea. She ordered a burger. My sandwich came out and they had accidentally not put in her order so we had to wait for hers to be cooked after I already received mine. Although this occurred, the staff were very quick to fix her order and brought it out in no time. The mixture of sauces was very nice on the ultimate chicken sandwich. I wish the sandwich came with a side like fries but besides that it was pretty decent. I liked the sandwich but it's not something to write home about.

Yelp
This small restaurant right next to a Chick-fil-A is a diamond in the rough. It's been a challenge to find a delicious breakfast spot that is affordable and not pretentious. We ordered chicken biscuits, home taters, gravy, and plain biscuits. It was easy to order and the staff was cordial. I would skip the gravy, it seemed to be missing something. I enjoy dipping my chicken biscuit in gravy, don't ask, I just do. But this didn't add to it so I'll pass the next time. But that's OK. The home taters were plentiful and you really only need one order for three people unless you're really hungry. The biscuits needed butter and honey because they truly were plain. The chicken was well seasoned and flavorful, perfectly fried, and the biscuits were nice. Definitely will eat here again.

Yelp
Everyone here is soooo nice! The service is phenomenal. Everything comes in containers and wraps that can be thrown away. My biscuit was great, added strawberry jelly. Cooked perfectly. The macaroni was veryyyyy hot and pretty good. My bf liked his brisket sandwich, thought the flavors were great. I love grit texture and grits in general. I do wish my grits were hotter though. They were room temperature and got colder over the time we were eating.

Donovan H.

Yelp
Always look forward to this place when we travel! Fabulous grits and the best chicken around for breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
Just want to hop on and say this place never disappoints!!! No photos this time, just a last minute decision and we were hungry . The Breakfast plate HUGE and delicious. Try it with their cheese grits- they are cheesy and delicious!!!

Yelp
This place was like an elevated Martins! The service was great, and the food you could tell was homemade greasy goodness. I went for breakfast and was not disappointed. The biscuit was fluffy on the inside and baked to a golden brown! While the chicken was seasoned well and the gravy had so much flavor. Will have to try the lunch!

Yelp
1911 is the best kept secret in Smyrna! The service is quick and friendly and the food is AMAZING. I get the chicken biscuit and the chicken is well portioned (a bit bigger than the biscuit) with plenty of meat. My husband loves the gravy biscuit and my kids always get a butter biscuit. The biscuits are made from scratch and melt in your mouth. We typically go through the drive through so I can't speak to the dine in experience. The cost is also great- it's typically $15-20 for our family of 4 for breakfast (just entrees).

Yelp
Got all this food for around $20. If you're in the Atlanta area and want good food for a decent price which is saying a lot - stop by here. Everything I got was really good. Make sure you try the chicken sandwich or biscuit and get the special sauce on it. The wings were really juicy and had the right amount of seasoning on it. Fries could've been crunchier, but also good. The chili dog was really good as well. I enjoy their chili sauce - the right amount of tangy. Service was great and quick.

Yelp
I stopped into this spot after church one Sunday. This was my second time patronizing the business. On my first visit I just grabbed a biscuit from drive through. On my most recent visit I opted for a dine in experience. This is the type of spot where you order your food at the counter and are given a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. I opted to try the catfish and grits meal. To my surprise they do offer it grilled instead of fried! I opted to get it cooked in Cajun seasoning. The restaurant has seating both inside and outside. Since it was such a nice day we opted to sit on a bench outside. While you wait on your food you can grab napkins and silverware so that you have everything you need once your food is ready. It does appear that the food is cooked to order. It took about 10 minutes for our order to be ready. The first thing I noticed with my meal is that it was extremely salty! This may have been the result of the seasoning I requested. I would not recommend it if you are trying to watch your salt intake! I mean they went over board with it! The fish was served with grits and eggs. It was an average breakfast. The grits were not thick, which is my preference. The eggs were ok. I honestly just feel like the seasoning over powered. The meal. If you are in need of a breakfast meal I would suggest giving them a try. I think the main thing is just going in understanding that it's a basic breakfast spot. If you don't go in expecting to be wowed, it works!

Yelp
Food is very good and they are also very involved with our community, especially with the Veterans.

Yelp
Meh...the food itself was disappointing, service was fine, ambiance was interesting. All in all, sure give it a try for yourself but keep the bar low. Food: ordered the catfish and grits, steak and gravy biscuit, and the chicken breakfast bowl with gravy and potatoes. They left the gravy off the chicken bowl meant it was DRYYYYYY. The rest of the food was lacking flavor, super BLAND! Everything was lacking seasoning. Ambiance: it's a diner with a drive thru. The decor is dedicated to first responders and veterans which I love (Thank you for your service), but in recent times gave me an unsettling feeling as a black woman.... Lots of back the v Service: I ordered online but ended up adding an iced coffee and link sausage at the counter. It was fine...easy enough. When I arrived my order was just abt ready (I was told 10 mins, so that was accurate). Packaging was all Styrofoam and no utensils. Pricing made sense $6-11 per entree. I see that the health inspection score is in the 80's so while I would have given it 2 stars I have to knock off one.

Yelp
Amazing food!! Cute diner atmosphere and friendly staff. Great prices. Stop in and try the taters they are amazing!!

Yelp
I always get the Chicken biscuit with Eggs added to it and the home tater fries with they special sauce. Always a 5/5 for me. Chicken juicy, biscuit be fluffy and soft. Home fries always a hit! I'm speaking on my order only.
google avatar

Brittany G.

Yelp
This has one of the best chicken biscuits I've had in Atlanta.. Everything so far has been delicious with friendly service.
google avatar

Chanelle R.

Yelp
My bacon & egg breakfast sandwich was good! Fluffy biscuit, eggs were good and the bacon was just right. I'm going back, The personnel were friendly. Will have to try for lunch!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
The Restaurant has a fun diner feel and you can see employees over the counter preparing your food - staff are also friendly. Seating is limited, but there is outside seating for nice days. The biscuits are obviously a must try, but the grits are interesting - they aren't what you would expect from typical southern style grits.
google avatar

Lilliana C.

Yelp
Little neighborhood biscuit spot with the best breakfast in Smyrna. Biscuits are big and fluffy and the chicken is crispy and beautifully seasoned. Taters are a must every time! Perfectly cooked and coated with cajun seasoning. The service here is also pretty good! Order at the counter and sit down style restaurant with a drive thru. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
google avatar

Bryoni P.

Yelp
Great service, and the owner is super nice and helpful. Too much seasoning on all the food. Mac and cheese has a butt load of pepper and some other tangy flavor, as well as the grits, and burger patty. Everything was just a bit over seasoned. The atmosphere is inviting and it's nice that they have many options to order.
google avatar

Mikequita H.

Yelp
Love this place for breakfast and lunch. Great friendly and fast service. Their dipping sauce for the fries is great. Hot dogs are a little spicy. I like that they offer a new item on their menu each month. The biscuits are huge.
google avatar

Kendra B.

Yelp
Wow is all I can say! This place is amazing and VERY affordable! I got the chicken and biscuit this was AMAZING! Both the biscuit and chicken are homemade, perfect seasoning and everything! The sandwich is actually huge and only $5.45 you can't beat that! I found this gem on yelp and I am very satisfied! My daughter devoured her bacon egg and cheese Biscuit she said it was amazing. Everything was fresh and made to order. We ended our meal with the warm vanilla cinnamon biscuit whew you all have to taste for your self!
google avatar

Brandon B.

Yelp
Amazing burgers. Get the aioli sauce on it. I like their fries made "crispy." I had never eaten their burgers before recently. Only had a biscuit before which are also really good. I do not give five stars to anyone unless I feel like it's worthy. They're worthy.

Yelp
This place has great service, good food and a local/neighborhood ambiance. When I first walked in everyone was warm and welcoming. I ordered the smoked brisket biscuit with egg and cheese and a side of home taters. It came out in about 10 minutes or less which pleasantly surprised me because I thought it would be longer. I was given bbq sauce for the brisket and the house sauce for the taters. The biscuit sandwich was huge and packed with the egg and meat. The cheese was a slice of cheddar cheese and it was slightly melted over the eggs. I didn't like the biscuit, it was dense and I like my biscuits fluffy. I ended up taking the filling out and putting it over the home taters. The taters were perfect, they were fried crispy and seasoned well. I liked the sauce they came with which tasted like it had blue cheese in it. The brisket taste like it was cooked in an oven as opposed to being smoked but when mixed with the perfectly cooked fluffy eggs, cheese, and home taters, it was a delicious breakfast experience. I think the brisket sandwich would have been better on toast but overall this is definitely a good try and I will be back to try the sausage gravy with eggs and steak.

Yelp
Great little family restaurant located near Smyrna, great atmosphere, great attitude and a great burger

James S.

Yelp
Everything is heated and in styrofoam containers. Was not my favorite. Everyone was greeted as Dude
google avatar

Sandi C.

Yelp
Service friendly and fast. Open kitchen to see chefs cooking. Biscuits soft inside and crunchy outside. Buttery and flavorful. Tater tots well seasoned. More like cut up French fries than classical tot-shaped. Eggs fluffy. Fried chicken is well seasoned. Better flavor than chicken sandwich at Chick-FIL-A.
google avatar

Scarlett F.

Yelp
This place is not far from the house, so I decided to try them out. I ordered the chicken biscuit and gravy. The taste was good. The wait time was normal. Ample parking was available, though I chose the drive thru. This was my second time going and it was my h better. The first experience I did not care for the tiny chili dog (very tiny).
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
Best chicken biscuit in Atlanta - and yes, that includes 1911's corporate neighbor. Here's the details: Biscuit: a great size and cooked to perfection every time. Personally, I don't think you need jelly bc the biscuit and the chicken are so flavorful. Chicken: crispy. Never tough. Amazing flavor (a little peppery but I like that). Cheese grits: my dining companion said they were very good. Atmosphere: nothing to write home about but it is clean and everyone is so friendly. They prefer cash and give you a little discount for using it.

Yelp
DO NOT judge this book by it's cover! This place may not look like much sitting next to it commercial competitor and you may have even driven past this place several times but I PROMISE this place is a hidden gem. The first time I can I had an amazing breakfast, this time o came and had an amazing lunch. The service is fast and friendly and I personally haven't been inside so I can't speak about the ambiance and personally I wouldn't even care (respectfully) because it's just that good. The chili cheese fries didn't look good but it taste hella good! The chili has the perfect amount of spice. The chicken sandwich was good and crispy I just may add tomato and onion next time to give it that extra "pop". I'll see y'all again next time
google avatar

Chioma O.

Yelp
Straight forward setup and good food, it's almost like a cafeteria type setup in a restaurant.
google avatar

Jessica T.

Yelp
I love this place and supporting local business. Biscuits are 100% like my grandmothers... maybe even better. I've only tried breakfast. Wish they had breakfast past 11am. Maybe it's a good thing as I'd probably gain too much weight. Grits are great and chicken is great too. I'm being spoiled as I also wish they had more coffee/latte options.
google avatar

Andrew F.

Yelp
The first time I drove past this place I noticed its named and that it was situated next to chick-fil-a. I thought the owner must be confident in his product given the inherent competition for customers with a nationally recognized (and well funded) brand. That made me want to check it out, and wow, I do not understand why people go to chick-fil-a with this next door. The value at 1911 is far better as is the quality of the food. It also it telling that the owner is constantly working along side his staff, who are polite, efficient, and he seems to get the best out of (which suggests to me he generally treats well). Point being, when I have a craving for a coffee and a biscuit, especially a chicken biscuit, I take my business to 1911.

Yelp
Quick and tasty and for the price you can't beat it ! They also have a drive thru ! we ordered 2 chicken biscuits (huge!) and 2 breakfast platters all for $26! The breakfast platters came with a protein , side (grits , home fries , etc) 2 eggs and the fluffiest buttermilk biscuit ever ! Grits were nice and seasoned too

Shadoe S.

Yelp
I went here with my girl we both got burgers hers burger was burnt but somehow still cold and both of are fries were drenched in oil my burger was a brisket burger the brisket part was good but my bun covered in oil and was cold the burger patties them selfs had taste no flavor the only thing a liked was the chili cheese fries I got service really bad every one was messy and just very unprofessional and for all that we paid 37 dollars for 2 burgers 2fries 2cokes is crazy
google avatar

Yelp
As a HVAC tech we spend our time all year long outside , we decided to stop here and try 1911 out and it did not disappoint! Homemade food that is fresh, and super delicious. I got a Jamaican jerk chicken sand-which and it was very good! I recommend 1911 burger for anyone in the area that would love to try a different kind of burger that is not the typical fast food style . God bless !
google avatar

Jeneen P.

Yelp
My goodness!! Go here YALL!! Its up South Cobb next to the Kroger shopping plaza but before Chick-fila. Its the biscuit of a life time, hear me good y'all. Please check it out. I went to place a to go order after church and fell in love. I promise you, they wont disappoint. I ordered two breakfast bowls, one chicken and one sausage for my husband. So good l, chicken, eggs, grits bowl. Also!! The FREAKIN CINNAMON BISCUIT! Im done!!here are my pics
google avatar

Keval P.

Yelp
Fantastic food for lunch and breakfast! One of the best burgers I've ever had along with some of the best biscuits and gravy money can buy. The chicken sandwich is amazing and the sides are great. What sets this place apart is definitely the service and the folks who work here. They are amazing!
google avatar

Dan M.

Yelp
A great little neighborhood joint serving some of the best biscuits and hamburgers in Atlanta! This place is directly next door to a Chick-fil-a and is consistently busier...;). Counter service with a few outdoor tables. Food is delicious and hot, just don't tell your cardiologist you've been here!
google avatar

Lizzie L.

Yelp
Went here twice, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Lunch was okay! Service was AMAZING!!! Came back because my pregnant self was craving a chicken biscuit and it hit the spot on so many levels. The biscuit was buttery and crumbly (just how I like my biscuits to be). The chicken was a giant piece of well seasoned hand breaded goodness! Nice and flaky. Definitely coming back for more breakfast here!

Kesht R.

Yelp
Passed up this place a few times thinking it was not a place I would want try. Guess who tried it?? Wanted breakfast between appointments. Perfect location. Another Yelper posted a picture of their red hot link and egg biscuit and my mind said yep let's go get that. Looks like some old school southern breakfast that will send me down memory lane. It surely did! The young man that took my order was nice but he needed to start his day over. He got lost after describing their plates and bowls and I asked for a red hot link with egg biscuit. Lmao. I told him he need to restart. Even after we looked at the menu board together and read slowly that bulb took a minute to flicker on. Biscuit wrapped in foil. Yeah yeah this is a sign of good eating. Lol. Memory lane stroll to days of Grandma's Biscuit. Atlanta folks if you were born in the 90s and after you missed out. But let's get back to 2022.... 1911 offers a good selection of breakfast items and lunch. I'll be back to try something different. The gent at cashier upsold a coffee. I was going to DD. But decided why not...ordered a coffee only if they had flavored creamer. . The cup size was worth $2.xx. my disappointment was the creamer exceeded 10-14 day disclaimer. I tasted chemicals instead of creamer. Next time I'll just get it black. Every bite of my biscuit had meat. Eggs were skimped. Biscuit itself was not full of dough and decent texture. I will return.
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
So good! I had been wanting to try this place for a while and I'm so glad I finally did! I went through the drive thru which was really quick and still had great service. I ordered the chicken sandwich and added lettuce tomato and onion, and also a side of fries. First, the fries were incredible!! Fresh cut and piping hot, and perfectly seasoned with flaky salt and pepper. Omg! Next, the chicken sandwich. So so good. The breading was perfect, it was hot, and flavorful. The value for the everything was just so perfect. I didn't feel broke after getting an entire meal (including a large drink). Can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu!
google avatar

Milissa Y.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent customer service! We were greeted immediately and were helpful with the menu since it was our first time. They food came out fresh and quick. Definitely will be coming back.

Hector F.

Yelp
Surprisingly being next to a Chik-Fil-A, they have the best biscuits and gravy in the entire Atlanta area!!! Most flavorful breakfast in the entire A. Service is super friendly and helpful. The gravy has the perfect balance and texture that adds to the overall eating experience.

Mike Walburn ..

Yelp
If these people aren't all family, you couldn't prove it by their attitudes. Friendly to a fault and they deliver the goods.
google avatar

Simone J.

Yelp
Food was okay. Nothing to rave about. My high review mainly goes towards customer service. Love being greeted with a smile. It goes a long way. Ordered a catfish sandwich and chicken sandwich. The chicken was definitely your average frozen thin cutlet and I wasn't impressed with that at all. I'd something else on the menu though. Wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Marie B.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Friendly staff. Rapid service and good food. They serve rev coffee so you know it's good. I have had the chicken biscuit plain and with various additions. The sausage gravy with biscuit is a filling meal. You will enjoy the staff and food plus rev coffee is you like coffee. Going to try other items in due time. Really go and enjoy.
google avatar

J M.

Yelp
Excellent for lunch or breakfast, I recommend any of their offerings. If you have a choice, get your chicken sandwich here instead of from their *ahem* neighbor. Their fries are fresh cut and not over seasoned. That's a huge bonus!
google avatar

Kemsey M.

Yelp
We loved eating here! We originally went for chicken biscuits but we're too late for breakfast so we ordered lunch instead :) Let's start with the chicken sandwich. This was possibly the best chicken sandwich my boyfriend and I had ever had. With Chick-fil-A right next door, I'd say this is far superior! The chicken was moist, the pickles were deepest, it was just all around amazing. The BLT was just like grandma used to make. The bacon was thick cut and perfectly cooked. I want to know where they get those tomatoes because they were perfect! Nothing better than a classic BLT. The burger and fries were both delicious. The sauce on the burger was stellar. It was a messy meal but worth it. The staff was all very nice and it had a very homey feel. We will be back here probably regularly!
google avatar

Samara L.

Yelp
I do not recommend this place. Service was good but the food was horrible to specialize in busicuits . My bisicuit crumbled soon as I picked it up. It was unedible, a waste of money.

Alan W.

Yelp
Food good Service fast a little pricey for amount of food May try again may not Very expensive and getting higher
