The Best New Restaurants in NYC

"Located just off Third Avenue on East 26th Street, this bustling spot lets you watch chefs hand-pull noodles while Mandopop plays. Noodles are offered six ways (from very thin to wide flat) across a menu of 14 bowls; the signature comes with beef slices, thick rounds of daikon and a heavy splash of chile oil, while the pickled cabbage beef noodles—with finely chopped pickled mustard greens and tender brisket—are a standout. Skip the lamb burger and opt for pan-fried buns or the langya fried potato strips; the crinkle-cut fries are stained with chile and slightly salty but addictive." - Edward Hart

If I could give this place 1000 stars I would. My GOD! If you are a noodle 🍜 lover you have to visit this cute little place. ♥️👌🏻 The service is 100 the food is 100 and the noodles are just MINDBLOWING! 🤯. We had the: special dry pork noodle 🍜 , the Handmade braised beef noodles; the pork dumplings and the pan fried noodles! I have no words because i normally don’t eat much and had to stop to write this review. The flavor is so fresh and good i can’t even describe it. Come to this place if you want great food and amazing service 🤗👌🏻👏🏻

Google
Overhyped and overpriced. The bowl itself looks beautiful but you get very thin slices of beef such that there’s basically no beef and no vegetables, just garnishes. The broth is fine, very subtle. The chili oil was quite bland. I came away feeling like I just ate a bowl of bland plain noodles for $14.95 + tax (~$16) and I could have made this at home. I also feel there was no nutritional value so I was hungry soon after and the portions were quite modest for a place like this. You’d get more taste, toppings, and bigger portions at Xian or Super Taste. Also, the waitstaff stand in the middle of the small restaurant instead of at the host’s table so it feels like they are monitoring you like soldiers. They stand right next to you and look at you. Staff way too attentive in a bad way.

Google
I was actually most looked forward to the pan fried buns, but that was the most disappointing part of the meal. It LOOKS really good, but I found the meat filling to be flavorless and the pan fried bottoms were not very crispy. We WOULD come back for the dry noodle dishes. The noodles themselves were springy and the sauces were flavorful.

If you’re looking for a comforting, flavorful, and authentic bowl of noodles in New York, this spot is a must-visit. The noodles are made fresh to order, with that perfect chewy texture that only true hand-pulled noodles deliver. The rich, aromatic broth balances depth and spice beautifully, while the tender beef slices melt in your mouth. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and the service is quick and friendly. It’s the kind of spot that makes you want to come back again and again. A hidden gem for noodle lovers!

OMG, 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles is a must-visit restaurant in NYC. The food there was outstanding, and I loved how the noodles were hand-pulled. Which, in my opinion, makes the food there even better. Even though it's a small restaurant, the wait wasn't too bad; it was less than 30 minutes. Once we got a seat, the service was fast and we didn't have to wait too long for the food. As soon as we put the order in, the food came fast, and there wasn't a point where we were waiting to get the food we ordered. Which is appreciated. Thank you for that. The next time we are in NYC, 1915 Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles will be a restaurant that will come back to have the other food that you offer

Google
Delicious food and attentive staff! The space inside is tight but fits a lot of people. We sat outside since it was more peaceful but the staff was still super attentive with us. The food was amazing! Noodles were amazing. Everything went perfect together. Would love to come back! It was also super cost friendly

Google
Some of the best hand made noodles. Small unassuming restaurant that if you didn’t know how good it was you’d walk right by. Some of the best noodle soups and dumplings. Counter seats are awesome, you’re so close and can watch them roll and pull the noodles right in front of you. Portions are big and prices are reasonable.

Google
Straightforward spot for good noodle soups that will replenish your soul. It was busy for lunch but still not that bad. Got the original beef noodle soup with an extra side of braised beef and it was lovely.

Yelp
Food/drinks: delicious! Got the pork dry noodle and beef soup noodles and it was yum! Really like the texture of the wide/extra wide noodles here! Atmosphere: very tiny with squished seating but it's part of the charm! Bathroom is also small and in the kitchen Service: very friendly and very quick! Price: $ cheap for NY especially kips bay

Yelp
Superb meal with matching service. I noticed the restaurant walking by one afternoon as there was a small line outside, which naturally caught my attention. I decided to try it the next day and to be expected from a restaurant with a line, it was excellent. Met every expectation on flavor, consistency, spiciness and vibes in the restaurant as you can watch the noodles be made.

Yelp
Fast service, to the T! Its a small shop. Order the extra wide or wide noodles! Theyre so good, esp on the Braised Beef Noodle Soup i ordered. The broth was fantastic and perfect, the beef could have been a little more tender. We also got the spicy oil spill noodles and wontons. The oil spill noodles hmm...not sure what to put but its too much spice powder? Makes for a dry mouth. The oil spill wontons were the same way. I think i wouldve liked the wontons in chili oil more. Overall, enjoyed the braised beef noodle soup the most!

Yelp
If you didn't know how good this place is, you would walk right by it. Big shout out to YES members who took the time to share how great the food is here! The reviews don't lie! There was a line outside and it moved quickly. The wait was less than 5 minutes. Got seats at the counter and was able to watch them hand pull the noodles up front and personal. Service was excellent. The manager was so nice and he helped us pick the best dishes. Started with an order of Steamed Pork Buns. 6 big buns stuffed with pork and steamed to perfection. Could have stopped here but we didn't. Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles- a big bowl of beef bone broth with your choice of noodles and sliced beef. Fragrant and delicious. We chose Prism noodle for this dish and it was a perfect choice. Each bite was better than the last. Spicy Oil Spill Noodles - this is spicy - I love spicy food and I'm saying it's spicy ... it was very good. It's a vegetable dish. Thick noodles with plenty of fresh chili spice and small leeks. The noodles are the star here. It's a small unassuming place, super casual with the best noodles and soups. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
- Super fast take-out service; ordered the N3 handmade braised beef noodles with regular thickness and got my order within 5 minutes - Quick and efficient staff - Credit accepted; same price as cash - Take-out orders with soup are separately packaged; noodles and soup are in separate containers to "preserve texture and taste" - Excellent textured noodles; perfect chewiness/bounciness in every bite - Savory broth down to the last drop; don't forget the chili oil like I did! Not sure if there's an extra charge for it for take-out, but the waiter was nice enough to get me a container of it after handing me my to-go order - Good amount of beef; some pieces were more tender than others; would love a couple more pieces of veggies - Though it appears to be a hole-in-the-wall establishment from the outside looking in, there's plenty of seating inside; tall bar table outside, but gets hot in the sun

Yelp
Wow, talk about an amazing meal! 1915 is the quintessential hole in the wall spot; so unassuming from the outside, but serving up culinary gold once you get to your seat. The space is small, don't expect much from the ambiance. But it is cool to be able to see into the kitchen, you can see noodles being hand pulled in real time. The lamb burger was the best I've had. Unlike other places serving similar cuisine, the bun here was doughy and light, and the lamb was perfectly spiced. The signature beef noodles were great. I went with the Chongqing Hot & Spicy noodles, and absolutely loved them. If you can handle spice, this dish will leave you sweaty and satisfied for sure. And at around $15 per entree, you really can't go wrong here, such a steal! I'll definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Best place for fresh hand pulled noodles and a super hearty, tasty broth! Although the number one is their famous special, I personally really like their beef noodle soup. There are 6 different noodle textures to choose from - must like choosing pasta shapes for your sauce! The shapes range from thin to extra wide. I prefer the prism cut noodles where it has a chewy texture - almost the knife cut texture if you're familiar with Chinese hand pulled noodles. Some may also prefer the extra wide noodles, or even the original. Definitely coming back. Bowls here start at $15, and the dumplings also look mighty tasty!
google avatar

Jing K.

Yelp
Come here to the original location, they are easy better than the Chinatown branch. Get the extra wide noodles, it's perfect for soaking up and holding the broth. Their dumplings are very crispy. Air conditioning needs to be stronger.

Yelp
This is a tiny place, not much seating, and up some stairs so not a great option for a wheelchair user. That said, my inexpensive order of pork & chive dumplings to go was tasting and filling. Go hungry!
google avatar

Ari B.

Yelp
The food was delicious! All the employees were very nice and helpful! We got the hand maid braised beef noodles, the broth was amazing in that and so was all the flavor! We also got the garlic cucumbers, and pork and chive dumplings! I highly recommend coming here!!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice fresh noodles. I got the original Lanzhou noodles. The real star is the steam dumplings. They're more buns than dumplings, which was a pleasant surprise. I got it to-go because the line was out the door. My order took less than 15 mins to come out even with the full restaurant. The takeout packaging was thoughtful. Only thing I did extra was reheat the soup and blanch the noodles in them. I'll try the beef noodles next time.

Yelp
I was craving some hand-pulled noodles, so I decided to check out this restaurant! There were a few parties waiting outside, but since I was dining solo, I was able to grab a seat at the bar next to the kitchen. I actually really liked my spot--it gave me a great view of the chefs hand-pulling noodles and preparing dishes while I waited for my food. I ordered a lamb burger and the spicy oil noodles. The lamb burger came out quickly, and I have to say, it's the best Chinese lamb burger I've had in the city! I originally came for the noodles, but I almost always order a lamb burger when I visit hand-pulled noodle spots, so I stuck to that habit--and I'm so glad I did! The bun was incredibly fluffy, and the braised lamb inside was tender, making every bite a perfect balance of meat and bread. As for the seared oil noodles, they were flavorful at first, but the spicy oil--loaded with fresh minced garlic--quickly overwhelmed my palate. I found myself pausing often to sip water just to balance out the intensity. While I loved the texture of the noodles, the sauce just wasn't my favorite (though if you're a garlic lover, you might enjoy it more than I did). Next time, I think I'll try one of their noodle soups instead. While I was eating, I saw the kitchen preparing dumplings, so I ordered the veggie dumplings to go. They were shaped like little leaves--so cute!--and packed with flavor. Honestly, they didn't even need the dipping sauce, but I still recommend pouring a bit on top--the sauce pairs beautifully with the seasoning in the filling. Overall, I'm giving this place a 4 out of 5. I had a great experience and enjoyed the food! The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 is because the dining area is quite small. If you've been out shopping or are coming from school, it might be tricky to find space to store your belongings, especially at the bar where I was seated--it's definitely a tight fit.

Yelp
Went here on for dinner on a Thursday night and the place was PACKED. The space is small but people moved in and out pretty quickly. Our party for 2 was seated quickly sharing a table with another party of 2. We each ordered the dry spicy beef noodles and shared a lamb burger. It was very strange to me that they did not offer any tap water but you could only buy bottle water so I got one since I definitely need water for spicy food. The food came very quickly despite how busy they were. The lamb burger was stuffed with nicely spiced chunks of lamb but the bread was a bit bland. The noodles were incredibly flavorful with slices of beef shank, chili oil, scallion, and cilantro. The spice was a decent level but not too much, more like a fragrant spice. Toward the bottom it did get a little too salty and oily for me but I liked how the sauce coated every single noodle. Overall, a nice place to get some hand pulled noodles but be wary of the crowd!

Yelp
Great place for Lanzhou handpulled noodles! Came with a friend on a Sunday night and was seated down quickly. There may sometimes be a lime but it goes by quick since they serve the noodles fast and you eat it quickly because it is so good! Space itself is also a bit small and cramped, but you really don't mind since the noodles are so good!

Yelp
I saw this place on my TikTok feed multiple times and finally got a chance to try it out despite it being a bit out of my way in Kips Bay. I got the standard Lanzhou noodles with sliced beef as well as the garlic cucumber appetizer. The garlic cucumber was actually really flavorful, with notes of sweetness in the sauce pairing well with the punch of garlic. The Lanzhou beef noodles were also pretty tasty, with a nice flavorful broth, tender beef, and bouncy noodles. It's a pretty good value as well with a lot of noodles for the price. The staff was also fairly attentive and I got seated pretty quickly with my food served quickly as well. Overall would recommend this place for a casual bite if you're in the area.

Yelp
I just happened to run into this place while in the neighborhood and I saw how many people were inside . The place was packed so it made me curious and I was in the mood for something filling so I decided to try it. When I came in the hostess was friendly and she answered all of my questions cheerfully and even made suggestions for me. I can't stress enough how amazing the hand pulled noodles are. The texture of the noodles mixed with the flavor of the beef and the broth is just heavenly. I went back again after I tried it the first time. I love cultural cuisine that touches the soul and this is definitely one of those kinds of places.

Yelp
Vibe Experience Fast paced Noodles fresh and cooked to perfection Mouth will be on fire 1915 is amazing. I can't recommend this restaurant more. Get there early or at an off peak time (it still be busy but more manageable). You will love it hands down.

Yelp
Cuisine: 9 Service: 7 Decor: 6 Value: 8 Overall: 9 I'm truly a Flushing kind of guy. When it comes to traditional mainland Chinese food, I always feel like Flushing restaurants do it the best. However, Manhattan has excellent hand pulled noodles too. Though I may prefer Very Fresh Noodles in Chelsea Market a bit more for their signature Taiwanese beef noodle soup (soy based), I really enjoyed what I had here as well. Unlike that one, the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles here has a clear broth, which lacked some beefiness, but still quite good. My strong recommendation is to skip the thin noodles and go with the regular or one of the thicker/wider options. There is just a better chew when biting into a denser noodle. Other than soup noodles, there is a handful of dry noodles too. The surprise for me was how much I enjoyed the Stewed Beef Tripe Noodles. The intense flavor combination, a kick of spiciness, along with the slightly chewy beef tripe, paired magnificently with the freshly made hand pulled noodles (I got regular). These were some of the best noodles I have tasted in NYC, both texturally and flavor-wise. Obviously, prices are maybe 20-30% more than what I'm use to in Flushing, but I think it's worth it. Planning to be back to try more of the menu soon. Just be mindful of long lines during peak hours.

Yelp
Pure comfort food bliss! This place serves up authentic Lanzhou la mien that will warm your soul and fill you up completely. The portions are absolutely massive and the flavors are incredible - aromatic broth with perfectly chewy handpulled noodles. The best part? You get to choose your noodle type! Think of it like picking pasta shapes but way more fun. They have everything from angel hair thin (thin 毛细) to lasagna-wide (extra wide 大宽) options, plus the classic fettuccine-style (thicker 韭叶) and pappardelle wide (中宽). Regular will be like spaghetti sized. But here's the insider tip - go for the prism noodles! They're unique and have the most amazing texture. This is the kind of place that makes you forget about fancy restaurants and just appreciate really good, honest food. Perfect for when you need something soul-warming. You won't leave hungry, that's for sure! I have only gotten take out here so can't comment on the service but they are also smiley and swift during pickup!

Yelp
The food here is fantastic. I was also happy to see a solid number of vegetarian options. We were lucky not to have a wait to get seated. The vegetable dumplings were definitely my favorite - pleasant texture on the wrapper, and a very flavorful filling of vegetables and tofu with a nice note of black cardamom. The chili oil noodles were also great, with bouncy noodles tossed in a spicy and sour chili oil and vinegar sauce with a heavy hit of raw garlic. The fried dough with condensed milk was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and not too sweet. The whole meal worked out to about $33 each, but we definitely over-ordered.

Yelp
Have been wanting to try this place for quiet while! And finally made it here on a Saturday morning, they open at 10:30am, so I got there on the dot. However when I got there, was told by the very nice waiter that I would need to wait 30 minutes for the noodle to be ready. So I was a little cranky about it but I had nothing else planned that day anyway so I decided to wait.... Presentation of the bowl of noodle is top notch! Looks like a beautiful painting lol it was very good and did not disappoint. It's weird that they make you buy bottle of water instead of serving water, since the price of the noodles is pretty high. I paid cash with tips, $20! I kinda wish that this is a self service place but not a sit down, just because table service drive the cost up a lot for the customers. Not sure if I will return back at this location, will probably try the Chinatown newly opened location. I have to say the wait staff are very attentive and friendly. Chili oil is very tasty with the sesame seeds but not as spicy as I would hope. Oh and I don't think they have bathrooms for customers as well. Cash and credit cash same price.

Yelp
It feels like a lot of the poor reviews for this excellent noodle place are for takeout which is unfortunately predictable as fresh noodle textures like these are kind of ruined when delivered but oh well as they choose to deliver. Anyway, I have been to this very crowded place a couple of times. The place is tiny and the staff here are standard for crowded Chinese spots though helpful for other folks who don't know what they want. I have had the N1/Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles/蘭州牛肉麵 ordering it as Wide(宽面) as well as the N3- Handmade Braised Beef Noodle. Prism(韭叶) style. The latter dish was my presence for both the noodles as well as the meat. The prism style which are both flat and wide absorb the soup very nicely while also being thin enough to easily pick up with chopsticks. The broth for both is well flavored and apparently not made with MSG if anyone cares about this and if you want to add a bit of chili, their chili oil has a bit of heat and a good amount of roasted flavor. The added egg on the side lacked a bit of tea flavor but was definitely better than Huang or Beef Up nearby. I found the beef also better prepared than the lamb. In terms of other comparison to places nearby, I found the noodles to have a better texture at Beef Up Noodle with their bowl also being much bigger. I also like the fact that you don't need to buy water there and there's other free drinks. The broth is a bit better here but the lamb is worse being less tender and less flavorful. It's definitely better than Dun Huang as well. In short, if you want lamb, go to Beef Up and if you want beef, go here. Next time I go, I'll probably try the dumplings or maybe the Liangpi/cold skin noodles as I haven't had a good version in a while and I'll expect the line as always.

Yelp
TL;DR - independent XFF with more variety. Food (4/5) - Got braised beef noodle with extra wide noodles, and condensed milk buns. Portion sizes were pretty big for 10-15, I barely finished my bowl and it was basically my only meal for the day. The extra wide noodles were really big and I was lacking broth at the end - think I will try skinnier or maybe the prism noodle next time. They do taste fresh and have a good bite. The broth isn't too rich, doesn't weigh you down. The deep fried buns were great, it is a higher bun to condensed milk ratio than usual, the condensed milk is largely drizzled on the top. Ambiance (4/5) - Loud but not too badly, we were also sat really close to the speaker and was still manageable. Most of the songs are pop, but global. Very quick turnaround, but didn't feel too rushed. Price (4/5) - Pretty good for Manhattan, 10-15 for most entrees and pushing 10 for appetizers.

Yelp
Read about this place in The NY Times and then realized it was in the neighborhood. Stopped by a bit before noon on a rainy day- perfect soup weather! This place is a hole in the wall- seats around 20 people. The lovely host shoehorned people in like a Tetris champ. It was really fun to watch the staff make hand pulled noodles behind a transparent partition. I had no choice but to sample the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles. The soup was piping hot and off the charts. There was a lot of oil in the broth. At first, I was put off, but it turned out to be good. The beef was similar to what you would find in pho. The thick noodles were the star of the show. They were delicious and pleasantly chewy. This is the kind of place that would make Anthony Bourdain happy. It's a real find. It's not fine dining, but it's awesome. Looking forward to working my way through the menu.

Yelp
A fantastic and cozy noodle joint! I read about this on the New York Times and had to stop by while in town and in line, I heard more people talking about how they found this place via Tik Tok so I bet the popularity for these noddles have grown exponentially as it is totally worth the hype. We arrived for lunch around 1:20pm on a Saturday and waited about 20 minutes in line. There were several parties ahead of us but all the parties ahead of us were more than 2 people so we were able to get seated at the bar where we could watch the noodles being made. I got the Signature Lanzhou noodles with Prism noodles and my husband got the Braised Beef Noodles with Wide noodles. Both noodle dishes had the noodles rolled out in front of us and the bowl was placed in front of us within 10 minutes. I was worried the Lanzhou would be too spicy but it was not. It had just enough heat to warm me up on a winter February day. Both broths were rich and flavorful. The wide noodles are definitely handmade because it seemed like it was just one long noodle. You can slurp for days and still have more noodles to go through. A single bowl will leave you stuffed and satisfied. We also got the Pork & Chive dumplings and these had thick wrappers and were stuffed inside. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and would love to stop by again. Be prepared to wait but know that the wait is very well worth it.

Yelp
I went on a HOT day and I can still say the signature beef noodle soup was worth it! The broth was so clean and had a deep flavor. The noodles were also perfectly chewy and I really enjoyed the wide noodles. The beef was also tender and cooked very well. The side dishes were not as impressive as the noodles but still worth trying (especially the chili oil dumplings). The service was also good and fast. I'll definitely go back!
google avatar

Sophia W.

Yelp
Soo good omg! The texture of the noodles was absolutely amazing. I tried both N4 (pickled cabbage beef noodles) and N1 (signature lanzhou beef noodles), and I liked N4 better because the chili oil flavor is a bit overwhelming in N1. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the noodle textures. The portion sizes are huge! I think two people can share one bowl. The pan fried buns are very big, and I loved the flavor and crispy outside of the bun. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. The service was very fast. They have very little seating. We came at 4:30pm on a Friday, and they only had one table available.

Yelp
Heard good things from someone who is a local in the area. I ordered the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodle and Lamb Chinese Hamburger. Flavors were satisfying for both. I would come back for the flavor. But... I do find the lamb dry. The noodles were not chewy, I am unsure if itnis bec I got it doordash-ed and it might have affected the quality of the noodle. The beef in the noodle has some more room to be more tender. Added boiled egg in the order and it was overcooked. Was unable to take a picture of the noodle soup, I got excited sipping the soup!! Lol For some reason, I am not convinced this resto deserves 3 stars... so.. if and when I come back in the area, I will be trying then again... I will be sitting down and eating there and will update my review.

Yelp
We ordered 3 things to try: N1.Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles D1.Special Dry Beef Noodle B2.Traditional Pan Fried Buns/6 Pcs D1 was my favorite. The noodles were perfectly chewy and well-coated in the spicy sauce, and there was decent serving of beef. N1 was good but I do wish the soup had a beefier flavor to it. The dumplings weren't my favorite but that's because I don't like doughy buns.
google avatar

Jess Z.

Yelp
Came here with my boyfriend and we ordered so much because we were so excited. My top dish was the dry beef noodles - spices were done to perfection and SO happy with how chewy the noodles were, even though they are on the thinner side! We also got the oil spill noodles, traditional lanzhou beef noodle soup, steamed buns, and the lamb burger. Oil spill noodles had a slight smokiness to it, which I didn't expect (tasty in my opinion) ! Great service despite a super busy and small place, wait was around 35mins outside in the cold. Worth it though!
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
I finally made it here on a cold, rainy Saturday in NYC and didn't have to wait on a long line - maybe 15 minutes tops the place is tiny inside. I ordered the classic traditional noodle dish with an add on egg - and I asked for spicy and it definitely got me sweating ! The hand pulled noodles is the reason you go to this place and man was it worth it! The noodles are soft , fresh and just downright delicious! Additionally I ordered steamed pork buns and they were equally delicious! I had to take some home ! I will definitely return and will try the different noodles and combos ! It really is one of my new favorite places to eat in NYC!
google avatar

Yelp
Great hand pulled noodles spot! I ordered the Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles - great broth and chewy noodles. They have a bunch of noodle sizes and let you choose type you want. I luckily didn't have to wait for a table and was seated right away but it filled up afterwards. Service was pretty fast and food came quickly. Note that they don't serve tap water but you can buy bottled water or another drink.

Yelp
The lines are no joke! We came on a sat and waited almost 2.5 hours for a table of 3. The place is inviting and service is attentive. The menu is extensive but the Lanzhou beef noodles are a must try. The broth is rich and tastes like a home cooked meal. Noodles are nice and chewy. Would recommend!

Yelp
Wow, this place is amazing if you want authentic Chinese pulled noodles!! I ordered the classic Lanzhou chili oil noodles (~$15) and the lamb roujiamo (~$6), and both were fantastic. The noodle soup was so flavorful, and the portion is pretty big too. My favorite part is that you have the option to choose the noodle shape. That's how fresh the noodles are! The service is decently fast too.

Yelp
This noodle place is serving up authentic Lan Zhou style of la mian (ramen). Fast and friendly service. We got N1 and N3 noodles and two hamburgers (lamb and beef). So much flavor and good amount of spice in the soup, texture of the noodles feels handmade and has a good chew, and the beef are tender. Do not order the marinated egg topping, it had no flavor and it's just a hard boiled egg. The hamburgers were a huge disappointment though, both the fillings and the bun were so dry, the fillings were so spicy and yet lacked depth in flavors, these might be the driest rou jia mo I have eaten.

Yelp
I wanted to experience the raving reviews but somehow my experience fell short. The restaurant's small and very cramped, perhaps that's one of the reasons some people are drawn to it ("Chinese food is in dirty cramped spaces."). The food wasn't bad, but the wait for the food was very long. I understand there were many takeout orders, but waiting 20 minutes after ordering for the first items to arrive was long for noodles. The noodles were decent, but the texture wasn't the best I've had.

Yelp
I thought the Chinatown location was small but this one seems even smaller! There definitely seems to be less seating, so there's often a line out the door. You painstakingly watch other people scarf down their noodles with glee as you're forced to stare into both your desperate reflection in the window and the happiness blossoming on their faces as they're in their own little heaven. Service is ok. I don't expect much from an affordable and bomb place that's trendy. Noodle soup here is obviously superb. Why else would you torture yourself standing outside on a cold winters day when you could get food quicker elsewhere? The soup breathes life into you: rich, hearty, full of spices, etc. The noodles are bountiful and fun to chow on. The meat is tender and gets gobbled down quick. Rather affordable for what it is in a dine-in restaurant. Excellent if you're craving spicy noodles, not as great if you're hangry af. Beware!

Yelp
Was craving some beef noodle soup and this hit the spot. I got here at 5pm on a Saturday and there was already a line of about 10 people waiting to be seated. We waited about 30 minutes in line so dress warmly if you plan on going at busy times. You get to choose your noodle shape that is hand made fresh. I tried the classic Lanzhou Beef Noodle soup with regular noodles. The soup had a nice light taste and the meat was tender. It isn't very spicy but there is chili oil at the table that you can add. If you want a beefier flavor, I would maybe try the braised beef noodle soup. We also tried the special pork dry noodle with prism shaped noodles. The prism shape just has corners / edges rather than being round, and was a similar width to the regular noodles. I think I preferred this over the soup, but again I added more chili oil and thought the flavors would be stronger. Overall, this place does a really good job for this style of noodles and soup, but I don't think I'd wait outside in the cold again for it. Also note: they don't serve tap water here so you have to buy their bottled drinks or bring your own water.

Yelp
This is a solid solid spot for those looking for a fast and easy fill. The noodles come out piping hot and ready to eat. Their chili oil is to die for and the place is clean and efficient. Drinks are self serve and there is a window and single seating for those dinning alone ! All of their options are amazing and I highly recommend coming back for more. I usually get their original Lanzhou beef noodles but I have yet to try the dry version. Which is what I will be getting in the next visit. There are various noodle options from thickness to texture The interior is spacious but I will say the tables are pretty crammed together. A touristy spot but that doesn't mean the food doesn't taste good !

Yelp
This is my favorite noodle spot in my area! The moment you walk in and look at the menu, it feels incredibly authentic. The food truly feels like home and I love coming here. The staff are very attentive. I went so often for a bit, that they even remembered me! There was one time they gave us the wrong order of noodles on accident, so they just let us keep it for free so we could "try something new" and went back to make what we originally ordered too. The interior is spacious and there is plenty of seating. During lunch and dinner, they fill up, but it's a testament of how great their food is!

Yelp
Wow! I've tried a handful of Lanzhou hand pulled noodles in the Bay Area but none of them can compare to this restaurant. The noodles were perfectly cooked even though I ordered thin noodles. The hot oil was the highlight of the delicious bowl of noodles. It gave a nice kick but did not overpower the broth. Service was also great and friendly! I would love to come back to try more of their food :)

Yelp
Excellent northern Chinese that's freshly made right in front of you in a small space. The staff were friendly and always busy cleaning up and turning over tables. The noodles can be specialized for size. It took around 10 min for us to get our food. I got the noodle soup braised beef noodle and the meat was so tender and the noodles with the right amount of chew. The dry noodle beef dish was even tastier and had more of that numbing spice for depth. I'll def be back to try the other dishes.

Yelp
I was craving some spicy noodles, so I decided to order some noodles from 1915 Lanzhou. Since I ordered the noodles through delivery, I can't comment too much on service or ambiance. N1 Signature Lanzhou Beef Noodles (wide noodles): 9/10 (solid noodles with chili oil base. I wish the broth has a bit more flavor though.)

Yelp
Customer service and food were both excellent! We ordered handmade braised beef noodles ($13.95), potato salad ($6.95) and sweet buns. The potato salad was raw and not really what I expected. It tasted mala and spicy. The noodles were so tasty and the portion size is huge! The buns were delicious and sweet. The wait was about 20 minutes since the restaurant is small and doesn't have many tables but the wait was worth it! Highly recommend! 9/10

Yelp
It was ok.. Friend got this for me to try. Lamb was seasoned and had a nice kick to it. It was missing a sauce like a mint chutney or something acidic to cut the richness of the meat and oily bread. Decently priced. Will try the noodles next time because it's their signature.

Yelp
A small shop that's so conveniently located. They have a whole menu but you can pick your noodle thickness and you see the person making the noodles. So homey and this will be a regular spot for us Beef noodle soup ($14.50) - a hearty bowl of soup w good amount of meat and veggies, lots of noodles too so you leave full! Very flavorful while not being overwhelmingly oily, I think I got the thick noodles bc I like thicker noodles but they have a bunch of sizes so you can get them to your liking ‍ Instagram - @joangela.eats

Yelp
My friends and I came to 1915 on a Friday night and waited around 30 minutes for a table for 4. We sat down and were given menus right away. Service was pretty quick and they gave recommendations for the noodle thickness if you are unsure which one to choose. The cumin lamb came out quickly and was very flavorful. The dough was chewy instead of flakey and was stuffed well with meat. The original beef noodle soup was good - my only critique was that some of the pieces of beef were chewy and tough, while others were more tender. Other than that, it was a pretty solid bowl for around $15.

Yelp
Small noodle shop tucked away in kips bay. Very fresh noodles with good texture (with multiple noodle types to choose from). Sauces and broths were done well - only complaint would be very few meat pieces in the noodle soups.

Yelp
5 stars for the dry beef special noodles. They are served at room temperature but are absolutely delicious. Nice szechuan pepper spice and a good sized portion. Only minor complaint is they were a bit too oily. The pan fried pork buns were also very tasty (6 per order) as were the pan fried dumplings (8 per order, kind of look like tiny tacos more than dumplings). The space itself is very cramped, with the waiters having to squeeze through to get to tables. It is also a bit strange that they don't serve water, you have to buy a bottle, which in NYC is borderline ridiculous. All that said, I would go back, but would likely get the dry beef special noodles for takeout since they are served at room temperature anyway.
