1928 Beacon Hill - Review - Beacon Hill - Boston - The Infatuation

"The atmosphere at this American restaurant in Beacon Hill reminds us of a Gatsby party—one where everyone eats kobe beef pigs in a blanket instead of baked ham and roast turkeys. We always start with a plate of Thai coconut shrimp with pineapple sauce and a Mount Vernon spritz with lemongrass rice wine. The rotating mains are richer than the people who live on this block, so expect to eat something like a veal chop stuffed with prosciutto and shiitake mushrooms or lobster tortellini the size of golf balls. photo credit: 1928 Beacon Hill photo credit: 1928 Beacon Hill photo credit: 1928 Beacon Hill Pause Unmute" - Tanya Edwards

The Best Romantic Restaurants in Boston | Eater Boston

"This moody, prohibition-style restaurant has become a fast favorite in Beacon Hill. Go to the bar for a stiff martini service or enjoy long conversations over dinner while sampling steak frites, lobster tortellini, or the signature 1928 burger. They also love a special occasion here. Prepare to pop the champagne for an anniversary or proposal." - Celina Colby

16 Great Martinis to Drink in Boston | Eater Boston

"This Beacon Hill gem opened three years ago on picturesque Mount Vernon Street. It specializes in the classics, and will certainly make you a memorable martini, but the real star of the show is the espresso martini. While espresso martini is not truly a martini — given its lack of gin and vermouth — we would be remiss not to mention this one, which features El Tesoro Private Barrel Tequila, espresso, vanilla, lactic acid, and the option to substitute Franklin-made GlenPharmer Espresso Vodka. Under “Espresso Martini” on the cocktail list, it reads “trust us.” We encourage you to do just that." - Anna Darrow

The food is pretty average. In vibes are pretty cool. Unfortunately we did not have the best experience they sat us for party of 10 for a table that wood be a tight squeeze for 8. Our waiter did not seem overly interested in waiting so that was kinda odd. I’m sure we just went on an off night

Pretty, pretty, pretty good! We went to 1928 Beacon Hill to celebrate my husband’s birthday and had a great experience. The food is delicious and worth every penny. I recommend making a reservation if you’re more than three people. Everything is made from scratch, so you need to order appetizers and mains at the same time (it’s noted on the menu). My favorites: the cauliflower with shishito peppers, the beet salad, the bolognese pasta, the 1928 burger, and the amazing potatoes. Definitely coming back!

Google
Really lovely place with a dark and moody theme. The decor is gorgeous. The 5 stars for food are in relation to the cocktails and not the food. We had great cocktails there but the food was mediocre. We had the jerk chicken meatballs but they were dry and not as flavorful. We also had the clam chowder and that was tasty, they have a little spicy kick to it. While I may not return for the food, the drinks were exceptional. We sat at the bar.

Google
Simply fantastic! Went for a girls dinner and had to bring my husband back for date night. Food, service, vibe.. all excellent for any type of night out. Also, as a preggo lady, I love that they have a non-alcoholic bubbly. You have to ask for it, and it would be nice if they listed it on the menu, but not a big deal that they don't.

Google
My favorite restaurant during my trip to Boston. Everything: food, atmosphere, and service was exceptional. We almost didn’t make it in, as the place was packed and reservation-only. Luckily, a last-minute cancellation opened a spot for us. Hidden away down a quiet side street, the restaurant exudes a speakeasy style ambiance. The warm and inviting atmosphere blends vintage charm with modern sophistication, making the space feel both intimate and elegant. Once seated, we were taken care of by Mike, who delivered top-notch service. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine kindness truly elevated our dining experience. We started with the 18hour Cider Braised Pork Belly, which was incredibly flavorful and tender. I ordered The Mad Hatter to drink and was pleased by the smoothness of the bourbon beautifully complemented by well-balanced mixers that highlighted its flavor without overpowering it. For my main I had the Citrus Herb Crusted Halibut. It was fresh, tender, and flavorful. The sauce it was served in was rich and complimented the unique fregola sarda pasta. My spouse got the Steak Frites which was cooked to perfection. The fries were crisp, and the truffle aioli was easily the best I’ve ever had. I can't recommend 1928 Beacon Hill enough, just make sure to get a reservation.

Google
What a great little spot in Beacon Hill. The atmosphere is very well done, giving creative cozy vibes. The menu was very solid, offering all your staple dishes but very well executed. Overall the service was good but we had to do our best to get our waiter’s attention a few times, hence the four stars. Would absolutely go back and definitely recommend making a reservation!

Google
We tried this place because the menu looked delicious but also had more unique flavors. It's not the same old fancy food. I'm happy to say it did not disappoint! We had the tuna tartare appetizer, the pork belly appetizer, the wagyu entree, the scallops entree, and the smashed potatoes cooked in duck fat. It was honestly all amazing. The scallops were my favorite. Some of the best scallops I've ever had. The host wasn't super friendly when we got there, but she was prompt. Anthony was our server and he was excellent. Several other staff came to our table to bring food or clear plates and they were all professional. Some people were in dresses and sport coats, but it was mostly sundresses for women and nice shorts and polos for men. The ambience is lovely. Very nicely decorated. It's small but doesn't feel too tight even when all the tables are full. I highly recommend 1928 Beacon Hill for a delicious dinner out!

Google
A true gem and delightful restaurant. The ambiance is upscale cozy, the food was subtly seasoned to perfection, and the cocktails were exquisite. The staff was top-notch - very attentive but never overbearing. This is the perfect spot for a quiet, romantic date night!

Yelp
Came here for brunch over the weekend and we all enjoyed our meals. Service was a bit slow, but i guess they were short staffed that day. I had their frittata which was like a hash brown omelet. This was delicious! Others in my party had their steak breakfast burrito and breakfast sandwich. Place made some delicious cocktails too. Service was friendly and place looks nice inside. I would definitely be back!

Yelp
FOOD: I came here for Sunday brunch, and the food and drink menu was great! I got the stuffed French toast which I was worried would be a bit too rich, but it was great. The Nutella, ricotta cream, and berries complimented each other very well, and it made for a yummy sweet brunch. My company got a Bloody Mary and had great reviews for it. I'm itching to come back and try their dinner next! SERVICE: Our server was prompt and very friendly. There was no delay in any of our service. AMBIANCE: This spot is very cozy and has a neat vibe to it. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
1928 was such a wonderful experience! I came here for a birthday dinner, and every single item we ordered tasted amazing. The service was wonderful, they were kind and friendly, and we didn't wait too long for food (as you might in other very upscale restaurants). The ambiance was very fancy and gorgeous, the seven of us kept gushing about the decor, lighting, materials, etc. I split the burrata, crab cakes, and tuna tartare for the appetizers - everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We couldn't believe how good it was! The burrata was especially my favorite of the appetizers. I ordered the seared sea scallop truffle risotto - it was insanely flavorful! I would go back just for this alone! Highly recommend, I can't wait for a fancy excuse to come back here :)

Yelp
The restaurant's ambiance was beautiful. The starter "wagyu croquette" was a hotdog on a pillsbury dough crescent roll. It was delicious but a little misleading. The rest of dinner was incredible. Caesar salad with chicken and carbonara was to die for. Overall an amazing experience (buyer beware the most expensive hotdog in Boston).

Yelp
We came here for brunch because a friend was visiting town and we could not have picked a better place! I loved the vibes in here, the restaurant is beautifully decorated and the some of the plates have really pretty designs. My friends got drinks (pornstar martini and the 1928) and they both thought their drinks were really good. Though they are a bit pricey. I had the steak frites which was cooked to my preference (medium rare). The chimichurri sauce on top was delicious. The crème brûlée we had afterwards was perfectly burnt. Our server was super friendly too. I'll definitely be coming back here again.

Yelp
What a fantastic spot! We visited for Christmas Eve; the space was so uniquely decorated not just for the holidays but also their usual decor. The steak frites was to die for, perfectly cooked to my liking and the chimichurri on top was such a nice touch! The green beans were unbelievable and I would have just eaten a plate of them alone! The salmon my family member has was apparently lovely, and the scallops were "the best dish I have had in months" per my (slightly picky) father. We sat in the back room, and walking through the labyrinth of the restaurant, we got to see the various nooks and crannies of this lovely establishment. Service was great, and everything was brought out within a timely manner. While it was clear our server was busy, we felt as if we were her only priority and that's not an easy thing to do during a busy holiday season! Will be coming back to visit.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for the first time to grab a pre dinner drink early Tuesday evening. We were immediately in love with the elegantly cozy interior. Everything feels very intentional from the decor, to the menu options, to the location. Tom was our bartender - friendly, knowledgeable and personable. We had a lovely time and can't wait to come back for dinner 1928 beacon hill in the future.

Yelp
Bring back coconut shrimp! Absolutely love this great neighborhood joint. Monday nights would also be great.

Yelp
i had a really bad experience in your restaurant yesterday your host was extremely rude and mean and shut door infront of me. thanks for ruining peoples day.

Yelp
Great vibe and ambiance here The service was top notch! Oysters with caviar appetizer - 5/5 Creme brulee in a freaking pineapple -5/5 Salmon - 4.5/5 $90 steak special - 3/5 i don't think the flavor and texture was there for the price

Yelp
The people are seated on top of you it felt like a miniature place weird they leave you a couple inches no privacy wont go back there

Carson G.

Yelp
Cocktails are good, but food is pricey for what is basically a bistro menu that is executed fine. Steak frites were good but not $45 good. I'd come back for drinks and do dinner elsewhere.
google avatar

Yelp
Went for brunch today. We made a reservation but likely didn't need it. Drinks were very overpriced, a basic mimosa was $18 and I did not taste any alcohol. Service was attentive and friendly. My omelette was delicious but also not sure it was worth paying $19. The space was cozy and well decorated. While I don't regret trying it, I don't think I will return.

Yelp
Cute quaint Beacon Hill hot spot. After a long time trying to go, I made it. The wine was great, the escargot was pretty good appetizer, service was awesome, the vibe is so beacon hill and cool. Food was ok. I had the chicken, my friend had a fillet, both were just ok. I actually did not feel well all night afterwards. Probably the super buttery garlicky escargot. Who knows . Well worth going and trying this place.

Yelp
Went for brunch today with a few friends as they said dinner has been very good; however we were a bit disappointed. First the food wasn't all that great you can see the eggs Benedict was very overcooked and the presentation was so underwhelming and it was $19 for the eggs Benedict and the 2 spears of asparagus. The stuffed French toast was so flat it seemed like they took a pannini press to it. The single piece of French toast was also $19! And the pancakes were also a bit underwhelming and the presentation of all the food was sad--not even a piece of fruit as a garnish. And when she asked for butter they brought chunks of cold butter that was too cold to melt. Maybe some whipped butter at least? The food came out in long gaps. One person's breakfast potatoes came to the table after she finished her meal as did someone else's order of sausage. We had to ask for refills of coffee. Perhaps it was an off day but we wouldn't go back anytime soon.

Yelp
LOVED this place! Warm and cozy ambience, great service, really excellent food and fantastic cocktails. My friend and I were seated at a teeny table that was kind of floating in the middle of a pretty busy thoroughfare but the night was still magical and we actually really enjoyed watching the woman behind the service bar prepare all of the cocktails. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I can't say enough how amazing my meal was recently. On a rainy night, bar seats opened up and the bartenders were amazing at recommendations for the night. Steak frites were perfectly seasoned. I can say I'll be back. Amazing little place in Beacon Hill.
google avatar

Chloe P.

Yelp
Shoutout to Tom behind the bar for stellar service. I love sneaking in here for a nightcap and bringing a book to sit at the bar. It gets busy but I feel like I can always find a seat. Standard American fare- the Waldorf salad, deviled eggs and frites are all delish

L M.

Yelp
The first part of the evening did not start well due to poor customer service attitude and a very uncomfortable table location. Thankfully, it did not end there as our concerns were addressed and our (second) server was much more attentive and we were moved to a much more comfortable location. We were grateful for the response. In terms of the food: the tuna tartare was good, and my husband enjoyed the halibut, although the accompanying vegetables lacked flavor and may have been slightly undercooked. I ordered the scallop risotto dish and while the flavor was good , I was a bit surprised that I only got three scallops. I didn't inquire about it then, but upon returning home, I was curious about others' overall experiences at this restaurant. Interestingly, I came across photos of the scallop dish showing a range of 4-5 scallops, with one lucky customer in 2023 getting eight scallops. I wish I had taken a photo of my dish to post here but suffice it to say that for the price, three scallops (of similar size to the ones in the photos) is inadequate, even if it is 2025. We had room for dessert (never usually happens after an app+ dinner out), but went elsewhere. Due to the mishap at the start of our visit, the restaurant covered some drinks, which was a pleasant surprise and one we appreciated. Their course correction and responsiveness earned them 3 stars. More scallops and better well-rounded side dishes for the halibut dish would have edged them closer to 4 stars.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday night and sat at the bar. The bar is first come first serve so we found 2 open seats immediately. The service was nice and quick. Loved the vibe and design of the restaurant, great for date night! Did not try the food as we only stopped by for drinks, but their cocktails are definitely more classic ones. Would want to try their food!

Rob K.

Yelp
Most of the food was ok, but nothing special. Plating was uninspired. The oysters weren't cold enough. It's food you've had elsewhere, prepared no differently, and certainly no better. Every single thing we ordered, we've also ordered in restaurants in Paris and NYC that absolutely blow away what 1928 is serving, for the same price. But what really brought the entire experience down was the mediocre service. The restaurant is understaffed, except for the front of house which was overstaffed with girls who constantly monitor tables while carrying iPads. Not discreet at all. Waiting times for visits from the wait staff were long and drawn out. It took nearly an hour from when we sat down until we were finally eating something. No bread was served or offered. No one we encountered exhibited much enthusiasm for their job or for food in general. A great restaurant is staffed with professionals who are knowledgeable and excited about the business of feeding people. This place didn't seem to have anyone who actually likes being in hospitality. No one came by to refill our water from the bottle we ordered. No one asked how anything was, or if we needed anything else after the entrees were served. We had to flag down a waiter for more wine. Empty plates sat on the table for ages. No one folded my wife's napkin when she left to use the restroom. All the simple little touches that make a dinner experience great were nonexistent. Oysters came out long after a salad. Always serve oysters first guys. Also, how is it a steakhouse exactly? There are only 2 steaks on the menu. The sides menu is sparse. The dessert menu is like an obligatory afterthought. There are more pasta dishes than steaks or chops. And what is so "1928" about a place that plays generic 2000s house music? Play some jazz or a mix that actually meets the expectations of a place called 1928 Beacon. The marketing of this place wants you to think it's some kind of glamorous speakeasy throwback steakhouse. The reality is, it's a basic restaurant with basic food served by not enough people, who are clearly too overworked and probably underpaid to be enthusiastic about doing their jobs.
google avatar

Jason O.

Yelp
Another fantastic outing at 1928! This time I was joined by colleagues and were seated in the back area which has a 'library" vibe. The service was excellent as it was during my last visit. My colleagues heard a lot of hype from so it was great to hear they were equally impressed with everything 1928 had to offer. The food was delicious and there were plenty of drink options available as well. 1928 is now a regular spot for me to visit whenever I'm in Boston.
google avatar

Damien S.

Yelp
Call me new fashioned, but brunch already being a racket doesn't need the artificial bump just because you're eating in an antiqued-up "establishment," or whatever you want to refer to a location decorated to mesh history and culture so thoroughly you'll probably think Paul Revere ate Asian fusion here. $20 for firm eggs benny in a broken sauce, $18 for a bloody mary, $10 for a side of fries, and $5 for a kid's Sprite (and a scoff at a refill request)? Too many options at a stone's throw to settle for average food, disinterested servers, and a tchotchke-cheeky if confused dining room atmosphere. Bar looked welcoming, though.
google avatar

Derrick G.

Yelp
I'm on death row, this is the last meal I get. I am offended with how good the food was here. I will arm wrestle anyone who has a single negative thing to say about this place.

Yelp
Fun day in city finished off with a nice meal in a very cool location-would return The service was great and meal was fresh and delicious-love the decor and Historical Boston vibe
google avatar

Francesca L.

Yelp
The atmosphere in here is amazing and it's such a cool neighborhood spot. The food was delicious but pricey for what it was- definitely worth it for a special occasion I would come back and have a smaller meal at the bar to enjoy more of their cocktails. Hostess was nice and staff were good at telling when to come over and when you needed more time with the menu.
google avatar

Derek S.

Yelp
Solo dinner. With reservations. 3rd time here. Pros: Adorable venue. Nicely decorated for the holidays. Food was delicious (Brie/ salmon) Attentive server. She was knowledgeable and friendly. Cons: It's crowded. And loud. It feels like a sorority party meets Instagram photo shoot. The baked Brie is delicious. A great winter app. But: It needs a 1/2 loaf of crusty French bread- not 4 thin slices of toasted baguette. They ran out of beer so I couldn't get a second one of the same kind. (Had I known that ahead of time I would have ordered multiple glasses of wine).

Jessica C.

Yelp
Giving a solid 2 based off purely the atmosphere and the service. Waiters were great but took a bit to get their attention. After waiting to be seated for our reservation once we sat and started to place apps our waiter letting us know the oven is not working for the night at 6:30 pm!!!!! Tuna tar tar for an app was good but nothing spectacular- no seasoning such as sesame oil or sesame seeds. Bummed! I got Bucatini carbonara and was completely unsatisfied. That is one of my favorite dishes and it came out with no flavor i mean literally tasted like plain unbuttered pasta- i had my partner try it and we both were not happy. He got the lobster tortellini- had we known it came swimming in sherry sauce NOT vodka sauce like stated on the menu he wouldn't have ordered. It was a sherry soup with 4 raviolis on top. Overall would not come back here for food.
google avatar

Madeline T.

Yelp
Top quality food, enduring ambiance, amazing overall experience. One of the most complex yet authentic bolognese dishes I've ever had. Halibut was tender and fresh. Every flavor of the dish worked together perfectly, light, refreshing, savory, and exceptionally delicious. Compliments to the chef! Definitely will be recommending and returning.
google avatar

Larry B.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick drink and snack after my hospital visit. Nice, quiet and ticked away on a street and easily missed. Drinks were great, service friendly and the odorous was delightful. I'm sure the food for dinner here is great
google avatar

Rui M.

Yelp
We came here for a nice brunch during my stay in Boston and I'm really glad I came here. It's Tucktaway in the Beacon Hill neighbourhood which by itself was very fun to walk through and look around. Inside the ambiance is really nice and feels very upscale. Everything is pristine and decorated very nicely. We both got eggs Benedict, staple for me and we shared a breakfast as well as we were starving that day. The asparagus was a nice touch and the presentation of the meal was done very well. Over I really enjoyed this restaurant and would highly recommend it as a brunch spot if you're in the area. I would love I would love to come back and try the dinner menu as well.

Darlene S.

Yelp
This place is absolutely beautiful. We went on a snowy Friday. Our 30th anniversary celebration. The staff was courteous, fun, engaging and our bartender the best. Highly recommend. Great drinks. Escargot delicious and great homey feel.
google avatar

Heather C.

Yelp
Amazing vibes and great service! Host was also very understanding of our being 10 minutes late due to traffic/parking which we appreciated. Interior was unique and cozy without feeling cramped or too loud. Our server was kind and attentive. Fantastic spicy Bloody Mary Lobster bisque deliciously buttery and creamy with big chunks of meat Otherwise had hoped a little more for the food--and was a bit disappointed to find my poached egg over-hard rather than with a runny yolk
google avatar

Wilson L.

Yelp
1928 Beacon Hill isn't necessarily doing anything new or exciting - everything feels classic from the food to the decor but that's not a bad thing. All of their menu items are easily recognizable from bolognese, crab cakes, to clam chowder. With that being said, I was impressed with all the food I had here and would recommend each dish but a special shout-out to the crab cakes and clam chowder. You get good large chunks of crab meat on the crab cakes and the clam chowder was very clam chowder-y in the best way possible.

Ken B.

Yelp
My wife and I dined here on Christmas Eve and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The welcome was warm, the decor was beautiful (even though the tables are a tad too close to each other), the service was impeccable (Anthony was fantastic), and the food was delicious. One can't ask for much more! Personally, I found the music to be a bit too "disco" sounding for a 1920s style restaurant (jazz would be better suited to the overall ambiance), but I really am nitpicking. This could become our "go to" Boston restaurant.

Justine J.

Yelp
Not recommended for special occasions or dietary restriction/allergies. The service, ambience, and food were not reflective of the prices. There were no desirable two tops in the restaurant; all of the tables were small and pushed very closely together. Most of the servers and bartenders seemed to be in the weeds and unable to provide good service, likely due to the amount of tables they were trying to turn. Unfortunately, most menu items are pre-made early in the day, leaving them unable to accommodate dietary restrictions or allergies.

Ryan N.

Yelp
This place is more of a hype. The service is downright terrible..... We saw our server 2 times in the 1.5 hrs we were there. Drinks were mediocre and food was begging for spice and flavor. Even the New England clam chowder was tasteless.
google avatar

Hungrytommy ..

Yelp
The ambiance at this almost secret restaurant, tucked among the homes of Beacon Hill is fantastic. We had a couple of very good cocktails shared some appetizers. The menu wasn't too exciting, but the deviled eggs were spectacular. Unfortunately the spinach & artichoke dip was under-seasoned. The chocolate cake is delicious and shouldn't be skipped if you can afford the calories. The service was nice but when I came in after my party had been seated the hostess just pointed me in their general direction. I would go again.
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
The restaurant is very pricey for dinner with minimal selections.... However, my family thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. I had the Braised Beef ordered to a medium rare. Not perfectly prepared to medium rare but was good. Our waitress was excellent. Will return for special occasions only.
google avatar

Bina P.

Yelp
Loved this place. The old school vibes are right up Our alley. We ordered the deviled eggs and American caviar which were both incredible. Also split the cacio Pepe and steak frites and all I have to say is wow. It was all good and portion sizes were not overwhelming at all. I would highly recommend this place. The service is also 5 stars. Can't wait to come back. Ps- the chocolate cake here is divine. Get it with a glass of champagne you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
We came on a Sunday, unaware that they were serving brunch as the only menu outside was their regular menu. The restaurant is very dark and the tables are rather close together. We got a table next to a couple and I was given an awful glance, almost as if my seat was inconveniencing the other guest. The staff was very bubbly, kind, and quick to get us what we needed. The music choice was interesting and did not fit the vibe of the restaurant. Popular pop songs from the Weeknd and Charlie Puth were playing that were not the most appropriate for the variety of guests the restaurant had. The food came out pretty quickly. I ordered fish and chips, which came out hot, clearly just fried. The fish was pretty good, but the fries were nothing special. They reminded me of fast food fries. The coleslaw that came with it looked really unappetizing and I ended up not touching it. My mom ordered the lobster bisque and said it was pretty good. As we were looking around, though, we both agreed that their omelets and eggs Benedict, as well as most other standard breakfast options, did not look super appealing. I can't say for how they tasted, but it looked like something I could make better at home. In general, the food was solely "pretty good" but I don't think the price fit what we got. The menu seemed rather expensive for standard breakfast items.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to be treated to a birthday dinner here by my sister. She was a bit iffy at first from some previous reviews she read, but we decided to give it a shot anyway. The ambience was so cool, retro and hip. There was great Saturday night energy, but it wasn't overwhelming and noisy, we could still carry on a conversation. We didn't order huge quantities of food, but the food that we had was outstanding, fresh oysters, served perfectly and then scallops with shiitake mushrooms and risotto. A great cocktail selection was made with obviously fresh ingredients nothing pre-mixed or chemical tasting. Our server Sebastian could not have been more attentive, friendly, or knowledgeable. I would definitely come here again.

Yelp
This review is for Jordan, one of the managers at 1928. My husband and I are beacon hill residents so 1928 has become a staple and go to for us. Every time we are in there, Jordan takes the time to come over and thoughtfully greet us, recommends new delicious cocktails they put on their menu along with any other new food items that come out. He really creates such a friendly atmosphere and we could not be happier with such an awesome place right outside our door! You can tell that Jordan really takes pride in what he does, it's so nice to see and it translates beautifully into all the delicious food!

Yelp
Amazing service, amazing food, amazing ambiance. Our waiter was Anthony and he was the BEST. Such a pleasant experience overall. Definitely will be returning.

Yelp
Interior is stunning. The layout is a bit of a maze but that works because each section had a different aesthetic. So much thought must have gone into the richness of the decor. The tuna sashimi was delicious, though technically was charred so wasn't exactly what I expected for sashimi. The pinkney pear cocktail tasted artificially sweet and the Prosecco just diluted it but the espresso martini had a nice strong coffee flavor and wasn't too creamy. Overall I would say the food was very good but a little overpriced considering the items were all quite basic. I think the menu could be more innovative and the service a little better. Compared to comparable restaurants in Boston I'd expect more attentive and professional service. Everything went smoothly just not five stars. However, this is a wow spot for a special occasion or to take someone visiting from out of town. Five stars for vibe!

Yelp
If I could give it no stars I would! I have no idea why anyone would eat here! The Caesar salad was awful! How do you mess up a salad? The Lobster bisque Wasn't even hot and was tasteless ! The sea scallops were cold in the middle and weren't even cooked all the way. The risotto Tasted like uncle Ben's rice! My son got lobster raviolis they were very fishy and not very tasty! Extremely disappointed!!

Yelp
In general, come for the drinks & ambience but not the food or table service. We both had the new to the menu, swordfish with couscous. The fish portion was small in a soup of couscous and greens/vegatables. Tasty but no "wow factor". My companion's fish was under cooked & returned. By the time it was brought back, I was done. Our waiter pretty much disappeared between our order & the check. So go for the drinks/vibe & go elsewhere.

Yelp
Food was decent enough. But that is not enough. The restaurant has several eating areas--not dining rooms--that are small, crowded and very noisey. Perhaps the thinking is this could be part of the charm of a Beacon Hill eatery. Precious, but not true. This interrupts ones enjoyment. There must be some effort being put into sound control, perhaps placing felt or some other fablic under each table to help stifle sound done very effectively at Antonia's in Key West or investing some commercial sound blocks. To make matters worse, one of the magagers sat at a table for nearly an hour or so and engaged in very animated conversation. He was asked to tone it down without much success. Eventually they left as did we. Probably not to return..

Yelp
This place is a must! The coconut shrimp app plus the claw chowder were out of control! The oysters we delicious! The Cesar salad was fresh and crisp, perfect amount of dressing and the filet was cooked to perfection and tender. Ambiance is super cute for pictures too! Desserts were beautiful, personal favorite was the cheesecake.
