Portland Cafe Bernstein’s Bagels Opens on N Russell | Eater Portland

"It's Portland’s first Thai-rolled ice cream shop offering rolled ice cream in flavors for humans and dogs; it opened March 8 in Goose Hollow." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Portland’s First Thai Rolled Ice Cream Joint Will Cater to Humans and Pups | Eater Portland

"In Goose Hollow I stopped by 22 Below, Portland’s first Thai rolled ice cream shop, which opened last week and serves coconut-based desserts for humans and their pups. The Eugene-based team uses the Southeast Asian rolled-ice-cream method where a liquid base hits a cold surface, freezes quickly, and is rolled into curled spirals, then mixed with flavors and topped with whipped cream, roasted marshmallows, and other indulgent additions; flavors range from matcha and lavender to chocolate. They even make a banana version specifically for dogs, and offer a variety of drinks from sodas with boba to iced and boba teas. It’s run by 20-year-old ice cream prodigy and pup enthusiast Kady Chen (who opened a Salem location last year with her husband Yao Zhang, her third in the state), and the Portland shop also serves Japanese octopus takoyaki loaded with sriracha, mayo, and bonito flake. They bill themselves as Oregon’s original rolled ice cream, made locally in front of you using fresh ingredients, and the shop is open 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday, noon–10 p.m. Saturday, and noon–9 p.m. Sunday." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Eugene-Based Thai Rolled Ice Cream Store Sets Sights on Goose Hollow | Eater Portland

"Having set up shop in Eugene and Salem in 2017, this Thai-style rolled ice creamery, 22 Below, is headed to Goose Hollow, taking over a former Subway on Jefferson Street in Southwest Portland. Their ice cream is coconut-based and entirely lactose-free, made by pouring liquefied ice cream onto a freezing surface and scraping it into visually appealing rolls. The menu includes flavors and toppings such as banana, matcha, lemon, strawberry, lavender, Pocky sticks, Oreos, chocolate, and cheesecake, and while the base is non-dairy there are dairy toppings available; other locations have also offered cotton candy, crepes, and bubble tea. The shop comes from an Eugene couple, Kady Chen and Yao Zhang, who opened their first store in Eugene last April and reportedly drew solid crowds before taking the concept to Salem in August. Work is ongoing at the Jefferson Street location, with a likely spring opening." - Tim Forster

Google
When you walk in they have a board with many different flavors and combinations but we were greeted by a young girl who gave us the vibe of unwelcomness and then we were told they only had one flavor, chocolate. Nothing else. Why have an ice cream shop if you only have one flavor? Don't go unless you only want chocolate.

Chad F.

Google
Always something with this place. Either they don't have anyone to open or they just don't care. Multiple times I come by and are never open when they should be. Like it's the hottest weekend of the year, and your closed? Stupid. Plus they shut down an hour before closing because the young singular person working doesn't want to be there beyond the closing time. Ice cream is good, would love to actually get something once in awhile. Just drive by people and go somewhere else, not worth your time or money.

Google
Very nice service! Yummy treats! Decent price with the weekly special. Lots of good things, inside the tables were clean, however, other areas looked like it needed a good scrubbing. (The floors and garbage cans looked grimey)

Google
This ice cream is too die for, it's one of the most delicious things I've had. Rich, creamy, and presented in a creative way. You get to pick your toppings and see the process of making rolled ice cream right in front of you -- just stay behind the glass! The place is a bit small, but it's so cute and so worth it!

Google
I really enjoyed being there. Mellow and comforting place to chill and eat ice cream. Both the guy and girl that helped us were super duper nice. I loved my green tea/ mango ice cream. Thanks you guys. Very hard working employees! 😊❤🤗👏👏

Google
Boutique handcrafted icecream and bubble tea! This place was a great find. The icecream you get here is like a work of art, so be prepared to wait a little extra for your masterpiece. Vegan icecream made here which is a total plus! There are less vegan options - lemon, strawberry, pineapple, and mango for a base flavor - but the lemon was perfect for a hot day. There are tons of amazing and creative flavors of regular icecream to choose from. You can add three toppings to your icecream, no extra charge. Pictured is a regular size serving. It's big enough for two peole, even if you're both having a sweet craving! Highly recommend this place, especially for kids. They can watch as the icecream is made. Open for dine in and requesting only 15 minute stay for dining in. Please wear a mask. No outdoor seating. Can order with doordash for delivery.

McKenna O.

Google
My husband and I stopped here for dessert after dinner- so yummy! Tons of variety and flavors or their rolled ice cream, and everything seems completely customizable. We felt like their pricing was reasonable, especially considering three toppings plus sauce and whipped cream are included. Heads up, the regular size is a LOT of ice cream, even if you love ice cream. If you’re coming after dinner, maybe split one or get a kids size. Atmosphere and attitude of the employees left a bit to be desired, but overall it was a fun experience!

Brian C.

Google
1st "rolled ice cream" experience. Was not disappointed. The wait was a bit long (due to so many people) but it was fun to watch them chop, freeze and roll the ice cream up. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys ice cream! I had the New York Style (shown below) which was a combo of fresh strawberries and a large chunk of New York cheesecake! It was scrumdilly! :)

Yelp
The stars are for cleanliness. That's about the only good thing I can say. First of all the employee was nice but very uninformed. I was using a Groupon for two ice creams and two bobas. She tried charging me and said she didn't know how to use the Groupon. She eventually just said she'll figure it out later. They had a long list of items they were out of so it made it a bit hard to pick something with many key ingredients missing. I would suggest if you're planning ahead to pick a couple different options in case this is the norm. I asked for marshmallows as a topping. They were stuck together in one giant lump and she had to use two spoons to even get it in there. Both the bobas and the ice cream left much to be desired and we threw all of it away with maybe 5 bites taken and a quarter of the drink attempted.

Donovan D.

Yelp
It's so good and I love how they make it in front of you and there's so many exotic flavors like hotcheestos

Kyla A.

Yelp
Ice cream = Great Quality & Test Service = it's okay.. can be better The young man who worked there wasn't very customer-friendly, minimal to no contact at all--besides getting our orders. Probably could be better next time

Yelp
We really like the ice cream here, but the service is so poor. Their hours are completely inconsistent. We came in at 8:15 once and they told us they shut down at 8:30 (hours say 9 online). The guy angrily made our ice cream. Here today at 4:30 on a beautiful Saturday (4/23) and they're closed... (hours say 12-10pm). Multiple times we've had the staff be actively rude and dismissive to us. Completely ignoring us when we walk in (and there is no one else there), saying zero words to us the whole time we're ordering (just glaring at us until we speak), and just generally seeming annoyed that we would come in. I feel bad for the owners because they are loosing customers due to horrible customer service/ employees. Overall ice cream is great, the people not so much.

Yelp
Great menu with a blend of traditional and eclectic flavors. I had Black Sesame in Vanilla with a drizzle of honey - yummy. My husband choose a strawberry cheesecake. Kids picked plain chocolate, Oreos in vanilla and fruit pebbles in vanilla - with colored mini marshmallows on top. Watching them being prepared on frozen metal plates was a fun experience. They also had some scrumptious looking bubble teas, smoothies and milkshakes. Be prepared to wait as it takes about 5 minutes per order to mix and freeze the ice cream rolls. We'll definitely return. Small groups of 2-4 are best.

Yelp
Yummy dessert treats with a fun atmosphere that will leave you satisfied. Perfect for dessert with friends, family, dates, or going solo. 2 small size Rolled Ice Cream, 2 Boba Drinks, and 1 appetizer fed 2 adults. This totaled up to $24. Pros: - Food: The Pretty Pink rolled ice cream was AMAZING. Can't go wrong with mango and the ice cream tasted perfect. Super light and yummy. My friend tasted it and said it tasted exactly how it looked, lol! Had a lot of options for toppings. The Thai Tea w/ Lychee Popping Boba was good, the popping boba is such a fun experience. The Takoyaki was great. The batter was rich and was very moist and the seafood was well cooked. - Atmosphere: The making of the Rolled Ice Cream is great entertainment. Fun for the whole party. - Service: There was only one person working, and she did a wonderful job accommodating my party in a kind and friendly manner! She also busted out the ice cream so fast! Great job.

Yelp
Review #260 - 2018 While driving back to our hotel, we were exhausted from the heat and needed something cold, sweet & refreshing to keep us alert so I decided to Yelp the nearest milk tea spot and this place wasn't too much of a drive out of our way. I had a little bit of a hard time finding it because the signage is pretty hard to see from the street so I circled back & forth and finally called them to figure out where they were located & we were actually in the shopping lot across the street from them. When we showed up around 4 PM, there were a few people waiting for their orders, but we were able to place our orders right away. The young lady who helped us was very friendly and patient as I made my final decision since I wanted a fruity drink, but they don't offer any fresh fruit type drinks so I went with the lychee shaken iced tea with lychee jelly. My niece got their original milk tea with boba and we got an order of their Tropical Vacation rolled ice cream to share since it had fresh mango bits. We both agreed that the drinks are just ok, but we really liked the rolled ice cream. My drink was actually a lot sweeter than I expected. I guess I shouldn't have asked for less ice. They actually have three different locations so if we are craving their ice cream when we head back to Portland, we'll definitely stop by.

Yelp
We stopped at the Salem store on Sunday, 1-28-2024. A young man was there to serve us and he was not very attentive. We were not sure what we wanted so we took a little time to figure out what we wanted. After we settled on what we wanted the young man who was our server got started. He cleaned the platform he was going to use to make our rolls with scraper and then used a towel he had on the counter to wipe down the platform. I do not know how long that towel had been there on the counter or how clean it was but I was not impressed. He gathered some the products he needed for our order and then decided to wash his hands. There were no paper towels at the sink so he went into the eating area and gathered a few napkins to dry his hands. During the process of making our order he tasted a product under a counter and told us he wanted to make sure it was salt and not sugar. He also wiped his hands on his pants during his working with our ice cream with out gloves on. Not happy with the sanitary conditions in making our order. The Ice Cream was good except for the piece of plastic in the finished product which my wife broke her dentures on.

Yelp
While the gentleman assisting us was incredibly pleasant, the boba tea was inedible. Literally. I brought a group of girls in & we initially ordered a boba tea with pearls for myself and each girl. Unfortunately they were out of pearls, no prob - we moved to the jelly. After receiving our drinks, we headed out the door. Good grief. They tasted nothing like any bubble tea I've ever had. It was thick, and so, so incredibly sweet that they were undrinkable. The (green?) tea flavor came through powerfully, but it was the thick gloppiness & overwhelming sweetness that absolutely killed it. Sadly, we tossed about $30 worth of beverages & vowed never to return. (I suspect that he added WAY WAY too much powder. There's no other way to explain the thickness or painful sweetness. Keep in mind - these were 13yr old girls. They'd eat sugar straight outta the bag if given the option. Even they wouldn't drink them.) (12/19/21 @ approx. 7pm)

Yelp
My family and I were looking for a fun place to get dessert. We checked the close time of 22 Below, They advertise closing at 9 PM. I arrived there at 8:49, and found the open sign was off, and there were 3 employees that looked eager to get off early. They told me they were closed, and when I asked them why they were closed before the advertise closed time, they just said sorry. I checked the printed sign at the door, It also showed them closing at 9 PM. As Icurrently right this, it still isn't 9 PM. That is got to be one of those disappointing things when a business advertises one thing, and then you spend time driving there with your family, only to find out that they don't actually do what they say they do. I'm sure it's great ice cream, but I don't like poor business models, won't be going there.

Yelp
It's a fairly novel way to enjoy ice cream & super fun to watch. The employees are friendly & tell you all about the process if you tell them you are new. Some creative toppings are offered - peanut butter pretzels? Hot Cheetos? I went with the Pink Explosion, topped with whip, strawberry syrup, graham cracker, mochi & chocolate chips. Tasted like strawberry shortcake. They also sell Bubble Tea, milkshakes & cotton candy.

Yelp
This is a wnde full place. Rolled ice crean is a new experience. They pour cream on a plate that is 22 below zero and you can add anything you want. The process is fun to watch as well. I got chocolate and strawberries covered with chocolate. With chocolate drizzle and Andes mints and m and Ms Very delicious.

Yelp
Walked into an empty store and watched the only employee make 3 ice creams for Grub Hub. My son and I stood there in excitement watching him make the ice cream. We didn't mind waiting as it was really cool to watch. He finished the online order, I figured we were next, but instead of taking our order, he took the order of a couple whom literally just walked in. Make no mistake, we clearly had been waiting to order. Disappointed by the rudeness, and lack of customer service, we walked out. Congrats!! You lost a customer.

Yelp
This is the best spot for bubble tea and rolled ice cream. The man is amazing and I really like to come here for the atmosphere and great Ingredients

Yelp
My ice cream was delicious! The staff was friendly and the place was clean. They have a menu with a variety of different combinations to suite practically anyone. They also have crepes, bubble tea, and cotton candy. I had the Oreo ice cream and added a toasted marshmallow to it and my fiance had a hot cheetos ice cream with extra hot cheetos on it! (That's the variety I'm talkin' about!) Now it is pricier than other ice cream shops, so be prepared. You also get toppings that are included in that price though. The servings are huge, you could definitely share your cup of ice cream with a friend or child! Also be prepared to wait a couple of minutes as they hand roll the ice cream in front of you. I thought it was amazing to watch, but don't come if you're in a huge hurry and don't have time to be helped on a one-on-one level. I will definitely be back to try more flavors!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
Update your website/hours!!!! You crushed the hopes and spirit of our kids being promised rolled ice cream and we drove across town to find out you closed earlier than your posted time! Thanks a lot!
google avatar

Linnea W.

Yelp
First the ice cream- it's good but not great. As far as actually ice cream quality goes it's basic and the mix in items are just barely there in the background. Certainly the production of making it is fun and unique. The staff is friendly enough and atmosphere is pleasant, it reminds me of any other ice cream shop. Next the bubble tea - very few bubbles in the mix, but the ones that were in there were cooked well. The flavor itself was a bit watery. It's served blended and the blended ice was quick to melt despite it not being a hot day and therefore was not enough to make it like a chilled blended drink. The location is out of the way not sure how long they'll make it.

Yelp
So it's been 2 years since the last time I went to 22 below. My last experience was in 2020 when I was pregnant and that was a very bad experience. Well tonight at about 8:20pm I went in with my son and little brother. There was 2 gentleman working. One didn't say anything or acknowledged us, the other one was the same guy I had my last bad experience with. He was mopping, as we entered the building my son kinda ran in there before I could grab him... by the way my son is only 2. The guy then proceeded to mumble something and already seemed like he had attitude. He took our order and while he did my son went to check out the claw machine. It wasn't working and so my son was just moving the stick and pressing the button. The guy got irritated said hey actually he can't be playing with that, we've had to many kids break it and now it doesn't work. That's fine, I understand so I tried keeping my son away from it. Both gentlemen started making our ice cream.. my son being young was very excited to be there and to get his ice cream and he was loving the shapes on the wall as well. The guy just kept watching my kiddo with big eyeballs too like my kid was doing something horrible wrong. I almost felt very uncomfortable like this guy was going to come around and slap my kid or something. My kiddo ran up to the counter 2x and the guy very loudly/rudely was like hey actually keep him away from there I can't have him touching the counter. I laughed because my son was perfectly fine with what he was doing and he wasn't being all touchy, he ran up to the counter put one of his arms on the counter and waved "HI" to the other gentleman. No harm was being done. So then I kept my son close to the wall and he was touching the wall saying woah and all of a sudden the guy comes around grabs a stool sets it right in the middle and rudely demands me to put my child there. He said "put him here, he can sit here, you can put him here so he can stay still." I can't have him running around... I was definitely trying not to loose my cool. I mean seriously, picking on a little kid because he's excited and having fun!! Let alone my kid only being 2! Kinda hard to keep him still. The other worker there didn't say anything didn't even seemed bothered by my son either. My brother was uncomfortable because he thought I was about to freak out on this guy. But I kept my cool. I really wanted to sucker punch that guy for being a nitpicker and picking on my son. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT YOUNG MAN HAS! All he wanted to do was complain about everything my son did. THIS IS MY SECOND ENCOUNTER WITH THIS GENTLEMAN AND ALL I GET IS BAD SERVICE FROM HIM. I shouldn't have to feel like my son is being threatened or picked on while I'm getting him ice cream, he should feel wanted, excited and comfortable. As I should too..

Yelp
This was our first time to have rolled ice cream (on National Ice Cream Day)! We ordered a Mud Slide with peanut topping and a Salty Breeze with peanuts and Oreo toppings which both were very enjoyable. You get a sizable amount; I ate 1/2 and brought the rest home.

Yelp
I came in today and they lady that was helping us today Sunday 27-22 she was by her self she didn't help us Good she was looking at us really mad. she was doing are order and instead of finishing are Oder she when to help other people she was going slow and we took 35 minutes for her to finish are order Im not coming back any more bad place to go when There is slow people

Yelp
Horrible tasting watermelon bubble tea. Wasn't blended, don't even know what they doing. Tasted like crap, dumbed it out , not worth a trip back

Shahalee D.

Yelp
Went on a Sunday there was one gal working and she was very nice. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the actual inside is a little depressing. There was no music playing so the atmosphere was a little off. There were boxes stacked up everywhere and just seems unfinished. I genuinely loved having my 6 year old watch her make the ice cream into rolls and pick her toppings.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
Delicious ice cream! But 2 times now I have driven there and they were closed, it was well within their business hours and there was no signage to explain the random closure.
google avatar

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Was gonna go in but the guy behind the counter wasnt wearing a mask and was letting other kids in without masks as well.

Yelp
I love this place. Wanna try something sweet and new? Then I will recommend this dessert place. This place is good to visit.
google avatar

Alissa A.

Yelp
This place was amazing, so good! Can't wait to visit again and try the non-dairy versions. New York Cheesecake and Chocolate Heaven. Fun to watch them make and fun to eat!
google avatar

Elizabeth T.

Yelp
Ice cream, bubble tea, milkshakes, and some other offerings, what's not to like? Great many flavors to choose from that, so far have all tasted great! This place employs young and friendly college age adults, making for a solid stepping stone job. Micah is very quick and is obviously familiar with all the steps to each thing. Have experienced great service each time I've gone so far!
google avatar

Nicole K.

Yelp
Fun to watch and good to eat. I would recommend this ice cream any day. It was delicious!
google avatar

Nelson S.

Yelp
They have so many choices it's a bit overwhelming. That being said the portions are big and could easily be split between two people. It's interesting that they make the ice cream right in front of you and you can add multiple toppings. I went with a mango papaya which had pieces of real mango mixed in.
google avatar

Yelp
I was very excited to try this ice cream out last night especially after a long hike. The ice cream was great and I ended up sharing with my friend since there was a lot. However, I'm someone who's big on customer service and I didn't think it was there. I came in and I wasn't greeted maybe because they were working on orders. I decided to use the bathroom since I've been in the car for 3 hours non stop. The guy working there assumed I was only using the bathroom and told me "um no public bathrooms you have to buy something." He said it in a way that was rude and is what made me write this review. When it came to my order, I waited in line a while because it was getting busy. I didn't know that the ice cream takes about 10mins each to make and there were a few people ahead of me. I would've appreciated a notice in time or a rundown of how everything works. A girl helped me out and ended up apologizing for her coworker. She said "sorry about earlier". I appreciated that from her since even she realized that he was rude. I didn't mind waiting, but the guy made mine and I was just getting negative vibes from him the whole time. I didn't want to stand and watch him make it. I think his attitude and energy made my experience here bad. I'll definitely be checking out the one in Portland!

Kenzie O.

Yelp
They close at 9 but stop taking orders at 8? Ice cream is good but the employees look annoyed to talk to you like coming in and ordering ice cream is a nuisance even though they're an ice cream shop.
google avatar

Jenna O.

Yelp
My family and I where really interested in trying this place out. Unfortunately I wasnt very impressed and I was really bummed. Things that raised concern 1) employees need more training on how to make the menu items they offered. 2) employees where unprofessional when speaking about other employees and made me uncomfortable 3) we stood there for 25min until it was our turn 4) ice cream dairy base was not kept cold while in use 5) spatula water old and not frequently changed. I think with some changes and better training this place could be really fun.
google avatar

Felicia M.

Yelp
Was looking for a treat as we traveled from Bend to Portland and stumbled on this gem... yum! Pick your flavor that is rolled out then rolled up into little ice cream rolls in a dish and if that wasn't enough you get to have 3 candy toppings and whip cream
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Divinity at 22 Below was exceptional! She was so sweet and prompt. There was a minor issue with them not having milk in stock for a milkshake, cause my fiance just HAD to have one and couldn't be cool like us and get normal ice cream lol she apologized and went to go grab milk real quick. We had no problem at all waiting, good music was playing and I was with friends. The ice cream is by far the best ice cream I ever had, divinity must have some good arm strength to be chopping up as fast as she did. Anyways our first trip there was perfect! We will be going back alot and sharing our experience with our friends because of divinity. Great customer service!!!

Yelp
The rolled ice cream is a fun creative idea. Definitely a place to hit up with friends to do something different. The ice cream was good, but not great. I felt that it couldn't be as creamy in order to hold that rolled form. However I do enjoy the unique flavors that I typically don't find at grocery stores such as matcha. Staff was very friendly.

Maureen S.

Yelp
VERY DISAPPOINTED in lack of basic customer service at this place based on today's experience. If I can give 0 star I would. I came in about 4:30pm today with my 4 yr old son. There was 1 employee working behind the counter, who later ID'd himself as Alex. He was making an order for the only other customer in the store, so I proceeded to get 1 already made out of to go freezer and set it on the counter. When Alex was done making the other customer's order, I asked him if we can get some toppings in the rainbow bowl since according to the menu each order comes with a choice of 3 toppings. He said he can, but then proceeded to start making another order. Not a big deal, I figured the other customer ordered 2 bowls and he wanted to make sure he completed her order first. I thought it would be a good time to take my son to wash his hands and by the time we come back Alex will be ready to put some toppings in our rainbow bowl which continues to sit out on the counter by the check out. When we get out of the bathroom (it was less than 3 mins) he started helping another customer who just showed up and was getting ready to place her order. This newly arrived customer even said "Oh go ahead you can help them first". I reminded him that we just needed toppings in our bowl, to which he replied "Oh, but she's in line" (referring to the newly arrived customer). We left promptly and will NOT come back. I hope the owner of this establishment reads this review and will truly consider providing basic customer service skills training for their employees. You will be out of business in no time if this is how you treat your customers.

Yelp
Super cool concept for ice cream! It's nice to see Salem finally getting some interesting places. The ice cream was great, the servers were friendly, and the options were just enough to not be overwhelming. I think this was much better executed than anything at Cold Stone - not overly sweet or overly heavy. The price was a little steep - but I guess you pay a little more for novelty. The atmosphere/location wasn't the greatest, but perhaps this can be worked out in the future as this place is only slightly more than a month old as of this review.

Severin W.

Yelp
The ice cream was good and it was cool to watch him make it. It did taste the same as regular ice cream in my opinion. They only had one person working and there were several customers coming in. There was a 15 minute wait as he was making the ice cream and being cashier. I also think it's strange that only some flavors are available in the children's size as it makes no difference when they're making it from scratch.

Dominique B.

Yelp
We came in as a group of four around 920 on a Friday evening and the guy and a girl working did an amazing job. After we walked in multiple people did and they worked very quickly and very hard to get all the orders out in a timely manner. ice cream is freaking amazing and there are so many flavors to choose from. I would totally recommend.

Yelp
Me and my squad rolled up at this establishment and were absolutely blessed by the sheer quality of this boba tea. This shit is the TITS! 500/10 would recommend.

Yelp
The ice cream is good! I got the Oreo flavored and lactose-free. I will definitely be coming back.

Came to 22 Below tonight for the first time with my daughter and some friends. I was pretty impressed! Ice cream was delicious and the staff was very nice. Large menu with many options including vegan if you are into that sort of thing. Could maybe use some more decorations but that's just a personal taste thing. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others!

Yelp
There was only one other order and we waited 45 mins. The cashier wasn't friendly, and with all the cleaning supplies stashed on top of each other, near where she had her subway sandwich in the open while she's preparing my daughter's order, made me very nervous. Will not return. 3 stars because they can possibly clean up and make improvements.

Yelp
Ice cream was good; however, the rudeness of the server was unacceptable. We were a party of three and our first visit. I asked for help on how to order..."pick a flavor and order it!" Hmmmm, not much help. Then he began making our orders...what a labor intensive process. Anyway, he finished the first two orders then stopped to take more orders. My spouse asked "did you forget my order?" He snapped "no, I said I was going to take their orders!" My spouse said "but the rest of my party has received theirs already." He continued taking their orders and said this is covid times!" What?! Not going back.

Yelp
Hands down one of my most favorite treat spots is 22 below. The ice cream is uniquely made right in front of you + the three free toppings makes it even more tasty. Service is always friendly and willing to answer any questions we have. We even grub hub this joint because it's so amazing. I always feel like a little kid amazed in awe when they hand me my rolled ice cream, it's just so unique and pretty. Try it you won't regret this choice :)

Yelp
There was a lot of hype about this place when it first came to Salem, and I was looking forward to giving it a try. My experience here wasn't bad per se , but it wasn't really that good either. I arrived with a friend about an hour before close. There was a small line and two employees on the clock. Multiple tables were sticky looking and hadn't been cleaned in a while (like ice cream that had melted and then hardened) and I had to sit at one of them. I get the balance of keeping staff on closer to close, but in his case three staff were definitely needed to keep the place running smoothly. That was my take on environment. On to the ice cream- I love the concept of rolled ice cream, but man- it takes some time and a lot of clanging noise to make it. Both of those things are fine, unless you're in a hurry and or/wanting to have a good conversation (I guess that ties in to environment, too). I tried the "Daring," which is a hot Cheetos flavor. I'm all about weird combinations in ice cream, and this one just didn't do it for me. My friend ordered green tea and Oreo. He liked it okay, but I found it a bit to... earthy... and I usually love green tea ice cream. One major plus, however, was the presentation. Very impressive and beautiful. If I were you, I'd still definitely give this place a shot. Perhaps I was just there on an off night. Totally understandable!

Yelp
The owner is amazing!!! She's always so nice! I always have a customized order, and she goes above and beyond to make my order. Would definitely recommend this place for ice cream! They also have unique flavors too! My favorite is the green tea and mango! So good and tasty! LOL did I mention I got a dog ice cream for my dog?!?? They made it with real banana and coconut milk, so it's safe and delicious, and my pup loves it!

Yelp
Went in on a friday evening. Was told they were closing early due to a family thing and we were the last customers. While he started our order 2 more groups came in. You can tell he got frustrated. My husband had ordered a smore ice cream. The employee then proceeded to torch the marshmallows and I mean torch. Those things were so burned. We went to our car to eat and his ice cream tasted like nothing but burnt. It was inedible. My order turned out great but maybe don't order the smores if they burn the marshmallows black.
