We visited 222 Taco around 3pm when it was pretty empty. The space is very well decorated and has a cool vibe, very "Instagramable" if you will. The server was very friendly and welcoming. After ordering we noticed that people that sat after us were being served their food before us. After about 15 minutes, the manager came out and told as that our order was never processed and that the kitchen would get started on our food. She apologized and handled the situation well by bringing us complementary chips and guac and even offered us each a margarita on the house but we politely declined the drinks. Mistakes happen and the manager made it right, so kudos to them. Overall, the food was hit or miss. Hits: the al pastor nachos were delicious and the elote was quite tasty. Misses: the chorizo and potato taco had a really nice flavor but was a bit too salty, the fried shrimp taco looked amazing but was bland, the carne asada tostado was pretty average and came out cold. The salsa bar was really great with lots of tasty options, so that was nice. Overall, the food was inconsistent and a bit bland, which was surprising because I expected more layers of flavor based on the appearance of most dishes. Salsa bar was great. The service issue was handled perfectly by the manager, which is uncommon these days. I was debating between 3 and 4 stars but I think 3 stars is fair given the overall experience. Hopefully they had an off day and if I return again I will be sure to update my review accordingly.
