Vauxhall’s Best Restaurants | Where to Eat in Vauxhall, South London | Eater London

"As the name suggests, this popular neighbourhood spot is close enough to the cricket ground to hear the clack of ball on bat. Co-owner of celebrated Clapham restaurant The Dairy Matt Wells, and Andrew Bradford, of Knife Steakhouse, are behind a restaurant where the menu reads like a roll call of the finest seasonal ingredients. An assured kitchen team — many of them Dairy alumni — produces charcuterie in-house and serves one of the best Sunday roasts in the area, including a vegetarian version with a top-notch mushroom and spinach wellington." - Helen Graves

The Financial Times’ Tim Hayward Loves London Fields’ Bright Restaurant | Eater London

"Housed in an unpretentious, light‑filled space, the kitchen—staffed by alumni of The Dairy, Wild Honey and Paradise Garage—turns out carefully thought‑through, unfussy dishes that steer clear of showiness. Examples include perfectly judged wild mushroom ravioli and a succulent poached chicken with lettuce and peas; the cooking is self‑assured and accessible, likely to draw diners from beyond the immediate neighbourhood, and deserving of a wider audience even if some commentary around the area feels unnecessarily snarky." - George Reynolds

Popular South London Steakhouse Opens New Restaurant 24 The Oval | Eater London

"Opened by Matt Wells and Andrew Bradford (Wells also co-owns The Dairy and its offshoots with partner Robin Gill, and the pair co-own Clapham steakhouse Knife), and staffed with alumni from The Dairy—including Simon Woodrow (former head chef of Paradise Garage) and George East—the new modern-British neighbourhood bistro aims for a "neighbourhood vibe" with non-pretentious, quality, ingredient-led cooking. The launch was deliberately low-key: it has been operating since early April with announcements limited to Instagram and printed signs on the shopfront. The menu rejects the voguish small-plates trend in favor of a more traditional flow, offering smaller dishes such as English asparagus with salt cod brandade and garden radishes, and lamb sweetbreads with fresh curd, shallots and garden herbs that lead into larger plates like BBQ monkfish with smoked mussels, salsify and seaweed, and bavette with bone marrow, tropea onions and seed granola. A selection of sides spotlights British vegetables in familiar, welcoming preparations, reinforcing the unpretentious neighbourhood approach while underscoring the serious culinary pedigree behind the team." - Andrew Leitch

Came here to have the Sunday roast, this is the second time that we have visited and once again the whole experience was faultless. Portion sizes are fantastic, you will not leave here hungry! All members of the team are great, welcoming and genuine. Paulo the manager is fantastic, taking time to speak to every guest and make sure that their experience is faultless. I will definitely be coming back here again no question. Thankyou to everyone at the restaurant!

Me and my girlfriend came here for our 2 year anniversary and had an incredible evening. It was probably the best meal I've had in London and the hospitality by Andrew and Pablo really made the occasion. Thank you for this, we'll see you again soon!

We had the most incredible roast dinner at 24 at The Oval. From the moment we arrived, Paulo and his team made us feel so welcome. The service was absolutely unforgettably warm and attentive. The roast itself was on another level - huge portions, outstanding quality, and packed with flavour in every bite. It’s honestly incomparable to anywhere else I’ve had a roast in London. I won’t be going anywhere else for one after this! The beautiful secret garden at the back made the whole experience even more special, with such a peaceful and charming setting. We’re already planning our next visit to try more from their menu. An absolute must-visit for anyone who loves incredible food, amazing service, and a cosy, homely atmosphere.

Google
We saw a review that said “best Sunday roast in South London” and this is truly that - the flavours are so beautiful, the service is great and honestly 10/10. We were given complimentary bread and mini yorkshires and sauce. Will definitely be back!

Popped by for a light dinner, absolutely lovely atmosphere, ambient decor, nice crowd. Paulo being an absolute legend is just cherry on top an excellent experience.

By far the best roast and service in London. Big portions, amazing flavour and the friendliest service you will experience. Book early to avoid disappointment and become a regular to this amazing local restaurant. Personally recommend the larder pickles and cured meats, and any of the Sunday roasts are amazing. Have also been during the week for a la carte and that’s equally as good. Make sure you leave room for dessert! This is also the best Bloody Mary I’ve ever had - perfect.

Awesome! Stopped by for a late lunch/early dinner on a Saturday and were warmly greeted by Paolo, who seated us right away. The restaurant has a lovely ambience, and that quality carries through to the menu—well-presented with just the right number of options. Paolo and the chef couldn’t do enough for us. The dishes were flavorful, well-prepared, and cooked perfectly; portions were generous without being over the top. Great wine selection and spot-on cocktails. Highly recommend for food, ambience, and service. 10/10.

Wow! what a find! Just had the best meal here. Sunday Roast was amazing. Food all round great, like really 10/10 but what really made it for me was the service. I took my family including my 1 year old grandson and they just couldnt do enough to make us welcome and make my grandson smile. They saw he was enjoying the bread - the brought him extra. They talked to him, played peek a boo with him, they were just great. 100% we are going back. Also, v v good value
