On the hunt to have some brunch with a small social bubble, Rooftop 25 fit the bill with an amazing outdoor rooftop space!
Let me start by saying the ambience is on point. There wasn't a ton of people there on a Sunday early afternoon, and our group felt comfortable during the entire outdoor dining experience, with the staff following the safety guidelines.
For the menu, they serve brunch all day and the have a regular menu that had some interesting choices. I went the smash burger and the pt. reyes blue cheese pizza. The smash burger was alright, but it was more like two slider patties in between a single bun. My thought of smash burger is, was a bit different (usually thin and flat) than Rooftop 25s take on it, and it came with a handful of chips. The bun could've used a nice toasting as well. It filled the hamburger fix in the moment, but don't know if I'd order again.
The pizza had all the right flavors I was looking for, but the crust was undercooked. It had that gum-line look and texture, and had it sent back for a re-do. The second try was better, but the crust was still undercooked, but we didn't bother asking for another try because we were about finished up at this point. Our friends' steak sando was also undercooked, with the steak being raw in the middle. Not sure if they were going through training, but the food (taste and presentation) left a lot to be desired.
Again, the ambience and setting is on-point and very well done. It's a pricey brunch, but with not many rooftop options in the city, it's nice to have another option, plus they take reservations, which makes planning for a group of 6+ easier than waiting at other brunch spots. This place has a TON OF POTENTIAL, just think there needs some kinks to be worked out before I'd return again.
